The food at Shake Shack is good. It tastes great, and while I don't come particularly often, I've been pleased with the food every time I've visited. It's a little pricey for a burger, but I'm fine with it as an occasional treat. Unfortunately, the service during this visit really missed the mark. We walked into a very empty restaurant with what was clearly a streamlined staff. It was a long weekend, so I completely understand wanting to give employees time off and having a smaller team working. That wasn't the issue. What I didn't expect was a 35-minute wait for our food when there were genuinely only about five other people in the restaurant. And when I say 35 minutes, I'm not exaggerating. I have the timestamps from my order confirmation, so there's a very clear record of when we ordered and when we actually received our food. I went to the counter twice to check on our order because we noticed three other parties who ordered after us receive their food before we did. Then, after we finally received our food, the FOH manager came over to our table in a surprisingly confrontational manner and insisted that it had only been 12 minutes since we ordered, essentially telling us to be patient. I showed her the timestamps from my order confirmations, at which point there really wasn't much more to say. What made the situation even more frustrating was that we received a text saying our order was ready, yet it was still about another 10 minutes before we actually received the food. I'm not saying this is what happened, but it certainly raises questions about whether there is a significant delay between placing an order at the kiosk and the kitchen receiving the ticket, or whether orders are being marked as completed before they're actually ready in order to meet internal KPIs. Either way, the wait itself would have been frustrating but understandable given the staffing situation. The unnecessary confrontation from management after the fact is what really left a bad impression. We've been to Shake Shack plenty of times and have always enjoyed the food, but the service and handling of this situation were rough. Hopefully this was an isolated experience. read more

The restaraunt was super clean upon arrival. There was no one taking orders at the register and all 3 order screens had lines so I decided to just order online. Food was decently fast and tasted great. I'm a big fan of the west coast menu that they occasionally bring back. My biggest issue is that their fountain drink machine was working and there was no sign an employee was coming back every few minutes to tell people but drinks weren't 86ed. I didn't expect a self service kiosk like McDonalds. I also didn't expect to have to give them a phone number just to order food that arrived at the table lukewarm with soggy fries. We were texted that it was ready over five minutes before the runner brought it out. Clearly it just sat rather than bringing it out fresh. The sandwiches come out loosely wrapped on a cafeteria type tray leaving one diner to have a clean eating surface and everyone else in the party having to sit their food in the table. A person in our party purchased a glass of wine and had to wait 5 minutes for an employee to come and approve the purchase at the kiosk but didn't bother to mention the store was out of the wine. This wasn't mentioned until food arrived at the table. My chicken sandwich was fine but would have been better served hot. The cheese sauce on the fries was just plain odd. $5 says it's velveeta mixed with mayonnaise and yellow mustard. The soda machine was down and they pivoted to canned drinks. No problem. But instead of a sign or an employee standing by their self serve kiosks, an employee periodically screamed that the soda machine was down from whatever corner of the dining room they were in. Clearly this wasn't my kind of place. Ive heard about it for years and expected more. For the price point I expected table service, a bit of professionalism and premium food. It's basically Sonic with avocado. Oh god, I forgot this. An employee asked if we'd prefer to see a written menu rather than dig through multiple kiosk screens and we said sure. When you walk into this Shake Shack, there is no counter to order. Instead, they have computers in the corner. It was a pretty easy system to figure out, but I can imagine someone struggling to order if they're not tech efficient. I ordered the chicken burger, green style. It had pickles and sauce. While messy, it was delicious. I also ordered a side of fries and they were perfectly crispy. The dining room is large. It was raining and it was packed inside so getting a table was difficult. Once we found a table, our food was brought to us and the staff were helpful and friendly. They got extra sauce for us and they were happy to accommodate with whatever we needed. I used the mobile app to order, the app said it could take 7-12 minutes to be ready so I submitted my order when I was 5 minutes away. I thought parking was going to be challenging on a busy Friday night, but I was able to park in a 10 minute parking spot very close to the location. I received a text that my order was ready just as I was walking through the doors! The shackburger was hot and the fries were crispy. I was happy with how fresh the food was. My friend raved about how great the Christmas cookie shake and it did not disappoint as well. We came in at about 530 and the girl on the floor instantly greeted us and throughout the meal she was attentive - but not overly so! And now that it's summer, you might want to fix your air conditioner in the kitchen because I got two shakes today and one was basically chocolate milk and your worker's response to me "our air conditioner, is broken, so everything is hot back here." Visited Shake Shack around 6 PM, and wow--it was really crowded, but I found a parking spot right out front, which was surprisingly nice for the Summit parking. After a day of shopping, I decided to stop by shake shack for a quick meal with my friend. Considering the hype that shake shack has been subjected to over the past few years, this location was surprisingly quiet for a Sunday afternoon. Notably, prices are somewhat pricy, with a standard shack burger coming in at over $10 after tax. Fries are an additional $3. I opted for fries and a hot dog, so my total came in at around a little over $8. The wait was higher than I expected considering that the restaurant was not extremely busy. But 15 minutes later, my food was ready. The fries were subpar, as they felt like frozen crinkle cut fries. I personally prefer freshly cut fries, so Shake Shack's fries did not impress me. Notably, my order of fries had a bunch of oily"crumbs." Basically, it felt like I was given the fries from the bottom of a bag of bulk frozen fries. On another note, I found my hotdog to be much better than a standard hot dog. The hot dog was slit down the center and charred. It had a nice smoky flavor, and I enjoyed the texture of the charred exterior. I also liked that the hot dog was longer than the bun, preventing me from getting a mouthful of only bread on my first bite. Certainly better than a standard boiled hot dog. Overall, I would not go out of my way to eat at shake shack. If I do end up here, I would skip the fries. The entrees are much more promising. read more

I always get one burger but sometimes you need two. If you're gonna get a shake, pay the extra 50 cents and get a malted one. So incredibly yummy. Reminds me of my childhood and carefree times. My burger was delicious their special sauce really is something and I loved the cheese on the fries. Quality is always something I enjoy and some people may like 5 Guys or In and Out more but my favorite mid level burger joint is Shake Shack! Glad there's one in Birmingham. Overall I would give this place a 4/5 stars. Service was fast. When ordering you can either place an order at the cash register or order on the tablets near the entrance.Once ready, they bring the food to your table, which I really liked. The restaurants atmosphere was over all noisy but I enjoyed the music in the background. The only con I have about the burger would be how small the portion size of it is and for the price that we paid I would've liked it to be a bit bigger. The flavors in both were delicious. The Shack chicken sandwich was juicy and the shack burger wasn't burnt and tasted like a handmade patty. The fries were my favorite as I love BBQ. The seasoning was overall very flavorful but I didn't taste much spice. I'm very picky with my cookies and cream flavored but the shake was very creamy and had a good ratio of cookies and ice cream. I would definitely consider this a great fast-casual option, especially for vegetarians. I personally have a hard time finding burger places that have vegetarian options, so it was nice to see that this place had 2 different options. They also had options that were gluten-free or a healthier alternative. I had ordered and gotten the 'Shroom Burger delivered to me, and I really enjoyed it. It was very different compared to anything I've had before. I do believe it would've been better if I had eaten it when it was hot and just made, but I was still very pleased overall. I'd say their prices are fairly matched with most other burger places, maybe a little on the higher side. As I had gotten the food delivered, I'm not sure how the customer service was, but everything in my order was made properly. Went here for dinner yesterday. Advertised two BBQ burgers and said they didn't have either. Okay, that's fine. They had three order for yourself kiosks and absolutely no employees taking orders themselves. Watched a girl walk in when the manager was up front to order and they told her to go order at the kiosk herself. What a joke. They give you table numbers when you order so you would assume they would bring the food to you...nope, they call your number and you go get it yourself. Seems pointless to give you a table number if you're getting the food yourself. After attending the grand opening, I've eaten here two additional times. Once was to use a coupon I was given, and once because my daughter wanted to try it. I have to reduce my rating from 3.5 stars to 2 stars because I really think this place is way overhyped and overpriced. I stand by my opinion that their burgers are nothing special. Fries are nothing special (seriously, I can buy crinkle cut frozen fries from the grocery store, and melt some plain ole Velveeta cheese on them, and they'd taste the same, for a lot less expense.) One of the items I ate was a plain burger, like it had 2 buns and a thin, flat, fried slice of meat. I didn't expect it to be completely plain, so I didn't specify that I wanted lettuce and tomatoes and the cashier didn't ask me if I wanted any. The best things were the shakes, and even then, there are shakes that are just as good as or better than for less $ elsewhere. I will be spending my dollars and caloric intake at some other burger place in the future. read more
