I went through the drive-thru at Milo's on Inverness Corner. The team member taking my order was forgiving because I misspoke and seemed to have forgotten how to order food. Got squared away and ordered the Double Cheeseburger meal with fries, ranch, and a Dr. Pepper. The speed of service was a little slow- we pulled in around 7:15pm, so likely during a downtime. The food was okay. I was hungry, so I would've eaten anything. The sauce on the burger was kind of messy, but to be expected. The onion-to-burger ratio was way off--You could smell onion on my hands for the next few hand-washes. The fries are thick and have seasoning on the outside- just barely crisp on the outside, and mushy on the inside (so if that's what you like, these are it). The Dr. Pepper tasted a little off, but I couldn't put my finger on why. I paid around $13 for the meal. If I had had a choice, I probably would've paid around $10 based on the quality. I've been seeing advertising for the new chicken nuggets. They boast that the nuggets are marinated overnight, so I just knew these Knigge's will be oh so delicious. I arrived maybe five minutes after they had open so I knew the food would be fresh and hot. I placed my order for a five piece nugget a cheeseburger combo also just in case. I was asked to pull to the front because my order had to be cooked. I waited a few minutes. They brought my order out to me and I decided to pull to the side to try the new nuggets. To my surprise they were not good. They lacked flavor. You most definitely have to have sauce in order to eat this. To me a good nugget you should be able to eat just by themselves with no sauce. They were a little light on fries today compared to prior purchases, but still enough fries for two to share. Staff not rude but not friendly. Wait for food was negligible. I came there to pick up a DoorDash order and was sent to the front of the drive-through line for about 15 minutes when I finally got out of the car with my daughter. I walked into the store and immediately got an attitude from the person that was standing at the register, and he told me he was busy while he was just reading things on the register I saw the bag of food with the persons name on the counter sitting there, and I finally flag down a woman in the back and she did the exact same thing to me, came up with a complete attitude. I would never ever if I was starving go back to this restaurant. Ordered through the drive thru today and the man that placed the order upped our order from 2 kids meals to 2 adult meals even though I was clear on ordering 2 kids hamburger combos, and even asked if they had milk for an option for the kids. When I brought it to the attention to the person in the window (because my total was way too high for one adult and 2 kids meals) she apologized and got the person that rang it in. When she explained that he rang it in wrong and asked for it to be changed he looked at her, then at me and told her to close the window. Clearly this guy was just padding the bill! I went today to this milos and order an number 8 and when I goto the window and ask for a SINGLE BOOM BOOM SAUCE the employees tells me that it is an extra 25 cents. So I ask for another and he tells me all the sauces are an extra 25 cents. Two weeks ago when I went there was no charge. What is going on milos? Yall need to fix this. Milo's is a regional Alabama fast food establishment, which has a following like White Castle. You either love them or not. I remember, that I was not impressed by my initial exposure to the burger. The burger came with a slightly toasted bun with the appearance that it may have been pressed. The meat was a typical fast food patty, nothing extraordinary. The burger was covered in chopped onions sitting in a brownish sauce. Again , I was not impressed. I washed that burger down with Milo's sweet tea....you can buy this by the gallon and when I am down south a visit to the store to pick some up, is always in order. This Milo's is neither great nor terrible. I feel like Milo's over the years has sort of taken a turn toward mediocrity. There was a time when I would have considered them to be above average in the fast food burger category. The sweet tea is usually the highlight of the meal. The fries here may or may not be hot and crispy. The burgers may or may not be fresh off the grill. It's kind of a crapshoot. I have been eating Milo's for years. My wife and I stopped in for a quick lunch. We were greeted walking into the place. Very friendly staff. I received my order it was the Mega Meal. When I bit into the burger it didn't exactly taste like the usual Milo's. Meat was medium well and too chewy is the only way I can describe the burger. It was ok. The friendly staff member asked me how our meal was and I relayed the info to her and she says she'd would check it out. Did I mention that Milo's seemed to have shrunk their burgers? Milo's Sweet Tea If you live in the South..particularly Alabama, you are probably well acquainted with my friend Milo, and his tea. No other sweet tea can ever try to compare to the gold standard that is Milo's. Period. 2. The burgers. They are unlike your everyday fast food burgers. The best way to eat them is with cheese, pickles, onions and Milo's sauce. The cheese is melted on the meat, not just placed. The pickles..well, you have to have pickles on this burger. The onions are chopped into good sized choppers. But the sauce...how do you describe the sauce? It is unlike any sauce I have ever had. It is sort of like a bbq sauce...without the bbq flavor, but with all the pizazz. 3. The fries Crinkly cut goodness. The best part is when you get a fry loaded with the sprinkled I don't even know what it is, but it is good. Fast food chains anywhere in the world wish they could have a burger this good. Their vanilla milkshake and crinkle cut fries made the meal. I don't know any other fast food place that serves crinkle cut fries as hot and seasoned as this. Their portions look small compared to other fast food chains. Mega-size hardly looked large. However, my eyes fooled me but I wasn't able to finish a burger by myself. The burgers are decent. However, they're made accommodating many types of sauces. Try their spicy sauce as it's not spicy at all. It only has the flavor. The total was $8.47. Order placed at 12:21. Delivered to counter at 12:39. Seriously? Eighteen minutes for two burgers and fries. After 14 minutes, I went to the counter to check since our number had long been passed. First they said our was ready then we were told that they'd lost the ticket. Either way, they redefined "fast food". When it arrived, the thick burger was horribly over cooked and dry. The fries were cooked nicely and only lightly salted which was nice. Sitting there waiting so long, we had plenty of time to take in the store. It is exceptionally clean and the employees seemed nice and friendly. The exception is a white male in his 40's who seemed to be the manager. He was noticeably gruff with the staff and not much better with clients. At one point a few orders had yet to be picked up and he didn't seem satisfied with the way the young lady was calling out tickets and he decided to do it himself. The manager began yelling numbers in a less than pleasant manner. It wasn't only that he was unnecessarily loud but that he was clearly irritated that the food hadn't been picked up. Milo's isn't your typical fast food restaurant, it has more of a home type feel from the service and the food quality just seems better. They're known for their famous sweet tea and it's exactly what a southerner could want in tea. They also have fresh lemonade that is pretty good as well. They have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and milkshakes which they do all pretty well. I enjoyed the mini cinnamon rolls for breakfast or the grit bowl, the grilled chicken sandwich at lunch on a wheat bun is one of my favorite fast food frilled chicken sandwiches, the burgers are a little more special than some other fast food burgers, and the sauces are by far one of my favorite reasons to come to Milo's. The hand spun milkshakes are also quite good. The menu is a little pricey compared to other fast food options in the area, but their food is pretty good and isn't something you can get everywhere. If you love the tea and want more it's in a lot of grocery stores and a great option to take home or to a get together. If you're in the area or pass a Milo's nearby it's worth giving it a try. read more

I don't know what has happened to Milo's. They used to be exceptional, now their burgers are mediocre at best. The last few times I've gotten a burger, it's been dry and has a lot of gristle. It's like they are buying lower quality meat. I've also noticed that the burgers don't taste as fresh. Before I would get them and the bun would have a nice toast and the meat would be hot from the grill. Recently I've gotten some that looked and tasted like they'd been under a heat lamp. This has been an issue at multiple locations - not just this one. I used to want to eat there often but now I will only go if someone else does and even then I get the chicken (which is not great, but better than the burgers). I tried their breakfast and it wasn't great either - very greasy. The only thing I really like from there now is the fries dipped in their sauces. Their ranch and Double O sauce are yummy. I think they've gone more "corporate" and it's really hurt the quality of their food. read more

Yes. I just gave a fast-food chain 5 stars. I don't mean it's 5-star dining, but I mean when I go home to Alabama for a week like I just did, and I saw the folks at Milo's more than I saw some of my cousins (I ate there 3 times this past trip), it clearly ranks way, way up there. If you live in Birmingham, I can't imagine you don't know about Milo's. So, this review is for the folks who might come from out of town. Milo's started downtown in the 1940's...when I was little, sometimes we'd go to work with my dad downtown and he'd take us there. That's what I call "Raised Right." Then, like 20 years ago or so, they started putting them south of the city in the suburbs. And God said it was good. If you are on a road trip, you really need to pull off the road to eat here. You can go through the drive-thru and sit in the car if you like (the interior of these places is really nothing to write home about), but the sauce is what makes it and it's a hot mess. You do NOT need to be driving when you eat this. Plus, you need to dip your fries in the sauce and there is just no safe way to do that and drive at the same time. I say, go inside so you can use the table and get extra napkins (which you will need, take my word for it). The extra 15 minutes added onto your trip will be worth it. They add onions and pickles on their burgers, which I don't like. You can say "Just Sauce" and they will skip that (do NOT, under any circumstances, skip the sauce). Also, when you order, you will want extra sauce. Back in the day, they used to keep this out in the public, alongside the ketchup, but they don't do that anymore. I'm guessing people brought large containers to take home and bathe in or something. I should go back to the fries--these are french fry perfection, best eaten as mentioned above by dipping them in the sauce. They are crinkle-cut fries sprinkled with a reddish salt that is probably half seasoning salt and half crack cocaine. You might want to mega-size, even if you are not usually a mega-sizer. That's what I do. Finally--sweet tea. They sell soft drinks, but I don't know why you would get them when you can have the tea. The only people I know who don't order the tea are my husband (who is not Southern but is working on it), and my mom (who is Southern born and bred but has some bizarre condition where she doesn't like tea). Milo's sells this tea in grocery stores all over the area--it's just the best sweet tea you can buy. They sell other stuff, like pies (my parents like them, I've never tried them-I use up all my calories on the tea). But you really want to focus on the burgers, fries and tea. read more

Milo's is a quaint insight on how fast food chains must have looked like decades ago. It's an Alabama chain which opened in 1946, and I'm convinced they haven't renovated or modified their menu items since then. The interior is lined with cheap paneled wood, and their back-lit plastic menu screen is faded from years of faithfully proclaiming their few menu items. I ordered their #2 "all-the-way," which means they graced my burger with onions, pickles, and their "special sauce". They flatten the tops of the buns by pressing on them as they're toasted on the grill, giving their burgers a distinct boxy look. Their special sauce was the reason I decided to try this place out: Milo fanatics rave about it. It's essentially a brown gravy, with a hint of mushroom. It's very interesting - I won't rave about it, but it's tasty enough and is a welcome departure from the typical fast food burger taste. Milo's french fries are cut wavy, and have another secret ingredient dusted over them (apparently Milo's is big on secrets). They were very good, the salty orange powder should be investigated by a narcotics team. I can't rank Milo's above In-n-out or Whataburger, mainly because Milo's stands all alone its own category; a lonely, long forgotten gravy burger category. No other burger chain really offers a similar gravy sauce to Milo's - and probably for good reason: it's just not what Americans expect a burger to taste like. All-in-all the burger was satisfying, but not awe-inspiring. While Milo's atmosphere seems like a cheap time capsule straight out of the 1970s fast food scene, their burgers offer a distinct local perspective on the mainstream American assumptions of what a burger should look and taste like. read more

If I could give this location zero stars, then I would! I really don't know where to begin. From the horrible drive thru location, to my food being basically slung out the window at me because they're "making speed." I got all the way home, and my food was wrong. I asked for a double cheese combo with no onion, and it had extra onion! Glad I didn't decide to just chow down, considering the fact that I'm highly allergic. It ruined my whole day and my experience with milo's after I just recently started to like them. I work in service myself, but I would never provide that customer experience to anyone. I mean it was just down right awful. Not to mention, the management from top to bottom is awful. You can hear confrontation from the window, and no one really seemed to care that my order was wrong. I know the "annoying customer" tone of voice when I hear it, and I'm not pleased with my experience here at all. I won't be back and I WILL be contacting home office about this issue. DO BETTER. The sauce on the burger was awful. They burger was saturated in the Milo's sauce and dripping out of the packaging. As for the fries, they were over-coated in seasoning salt.
