My favorite ice cream spot - literally a spot! There's enough room to walk in, order and leave. They have unique flavors and there's something about the texture. It's a nice smooth/creamy. Very popular weekend spot for families.
This is hands down some of the best ice cream around. The workers are always so nice, even when it's super busy. They are always happy to let you sample different flavors too. I'm always down for their waffle cones or bowls, they're always fresh! Favorite flavors: butter cake, brambleberry crisp, and brown butter almond brittle They also have seasonal flavors; check out their instagram to see what they're currently scooping. It's a tiny bit pricy BUT it's high quality ice cream. It's worth it.
Stopped in for a sweet treat after lunch! I usually go for my same favorite flavors but tried several summer menu options. I happily fell in love with the strawberry pretzel summer menu feature and it was scrumptious! It was a play on what I call star berry pretzel salad but so much better! We also tried watermelon taffy flavor which was oddly amazing! We learned that it will stay around after the summer flavors rotate out! Our server was amazing as well. I didn't get his name but he was very polite, knowledgeable and offered as many samples as we wanted to try.
Very kind and patient staff, although can get backed up when the line is long. Usually plenty of outdoor seating that is well lit. The Opaque ice cream was delicious and rich. It has a very fudgy flavor and texture. Had notes of espresso and very faint balsamic cherry. Must get it with the chocolate cone!
Very good ice cream with fast yet considerate service. The servers are very nice about asking what flavors you want to try before you order. I really enjoyed being able to watch one of the servers make the waffle cone bowls. I tried the lemon bar ice cream with the waffle cone which was fantastic. The cone is super good. The restaurant is small and all the seating is outside but I liked it a lot as it was packed and everyone was just chilling outside. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the ice cream is a little pricey in my opinion.
My first experience with Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams and it was love at first bite. Such a cute little shop with very friendly staff. I picked up a little trio with Salted Peanut Butter, Seven Layer Bar and Brambleberry Crisp while my sister got the Pistachio Macaron, Wildberry Lavender and Buttercream Birthday Cake and we savored every bite despite the 30 degree weather. As a visitor from tropical Hawaii, I hope this shows you Yelpers how splendid this ice cream shop is!

There's a variety of flavors with an almost equal variety of serving options. If you're wanting to splurge but without any guilt, they have toddler portions available. It can get crowded so be patient as you wait. The staff is friendly and if you're a regular they really remember their customers. There's an outdoor seating area with good vibes so it's a great place to meet up with old and new friends or just you and your family after leaving your kids dance recital. You will enjoy!

Lots of parking spaces available in the parking lot and on the street. I do recommend this place. Must try the Mountain brook one. The young ladies are also so helpful.
Even though Jeni's is a chain, each location has the charm to make it feel like a hometown spot. Love the eclectic flavors, the season options, and even the diary free flavors! And with this location in Pepper place, it makes it the perfect after dinner spot. The servers here are so kind - even when you want to sample your third flavor. On the list of best ice cream spots in Birmingham for sure!

I mean, it's fantastic ice cream. I am a major fan of the Brambleberry Crisp. It's well-known for a reason. This is a great location, too. I came on a Monday afternoon with a couple friends and I believe there was only one person working, she was so nice. The outdoor seating and lights along the road at Pepper Place make this a perfect spot for summer nights. read more
Jeni's never disappoints!!! I don't come here often but when I do , I know I'm in for a treat. My recent visit consisted of a yummy waffle cone with goat cheese / red cherries ice cream. This is my absolute faaaaaaav! The customer service is always friendly. The inside of the ice cream shop is always clean and the ice cream flavors are displayed nicely. Jeni's is really the 1 and not the 2. I love the ice cream here, it's really top tier in my opinion. I always order the brown butter almond brittle (fav) and brambleberry crisp but that doesn't stop me from sampling the other flavors. They do have outdoor seating options. There is a parking lot and street parking available. Highly recommend read more

This is an awesome ice cream joint. There is no inside dining here. They just have a nice covered patio with a few tables out there. They have a huge parking lot that it shares with other businesses that are in the plaza that it is located. There is also a couple of free street parking spots available as well. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. They have a walk up window for pick up orders right outside the parking lot. The shop is not very big. They offer samples of the ice cream, as most good shops do, and they only have cups and cones. There is nothing fancy like sundaes or banana splits. You can get different types of cones like a waffle cone, or a sugar cone. You can also get it in a regular bowl or waffle bowl. They carry about 16 flavors, across two freezers. They also offer drinks, to-go pints, and coffee, in addition to their hand served ice cream. I got some brown butter almond brittle in a waffle bowl, after sampling it. It was delicious. Their ice cream tasted so fresh and flavorful. It is not the type you get at the grocery store for sure. I ate it on their patio and it did not last long. I will admit that it is a bit pricey. I spent about $17 for 2 waffle bowls of ice cream goodness. I recommend this joint for those looking to get their frozen treat fix. It is located just outside of downtown, but far enough away to give you a bit of a break from the hustle and bustle of downtown life. read more

Jeni's is my favorite sweet treat in town! It's right across the street from Ignite Cycle in Pepper place so I'll often treat myself after a hard ride. I love their outdoor patio space. Plenty of seating for friends and famoly. You can lounge there and see the vibrancy of the community pass you by. The Gooey Butter Cake is amazing! Shame that I'm just getting around to trying Jeni's. (Facepalm) But my oh my, it lived up to all the deliciousness that I'd heard it to be. I'm fairly simple when it comes to ice cream flavors so I was nervous when I went by today and they weren't allowing samples. The young man behind the counter was patient with me as I talked through the options that I had in mind. I finally settled on the standard which is two half scoops of your choice. My two picks of gooey butter cake (which he named as the top seller) and coffee with sugar&cream (I'm a big fan of coffee ice cream) were a perfect match for my taste buds. Note, Jeni's is a bit on the pricey side but it's worth it! I'm so glad that I live across town... this place could become a problem! It's so good, it's bad! read more
We went on a Thursday and to protect workers and costumers alike only 5 can be in the store, so there was a decent sized line outside. I've had Jeni's in Nashville and was blown away by the rich creamy taste & creative flavors. This isn't a standard place, their flavor's are unique like Ben & Jerry's. So don't come expecting to get a baskin robins list of flavors. They have maybe 12 amazing mixes. We waited outside for what seemed to be a bit too long but when we got inside we were greeted with a friendly and calm staff who told us their credit card readers were down. That explained the wait. But they said they would manually enter the numbers. With my friends they asked if they wanted to leave a tip which is fine, but I prefer places that just allow you to tip at will. I paid in cash. We sat outside and ate. Lots of teenagers were around which make me nervous. I'm a high school teacher so I'm not a fan of running into students lol. Plus they don't care about personal space during a pandemic. The seating was this large 20 person block but it definitely wasn't ideal for social distancing. I like that they took the BLM stance and displayed it outside the window. To me this isn't political, it is just a common sense human stance on the rights & preservation of the lives of Blacks. So no one should be deterred from coming here. I got the pineapple upside down cake and the new Dolly Parton strawberry white chocolate pretzel. Both were great. I was looking for tart and definitely got that with the pineapple. I like that this is near some decent restaurants. We walked here from Automatic Seafood after dinner. Prepare for a line, packed seating and young people & loud conversations. If this isn't your thing hit up a grocery store & enjoy your evening. read more
Had the Birthday Cake and Double Dough ice creams, and they were fantastic! The Birthday Cake had the perfect mix of cake pieces and sprinkles, while the Double Dough was rich with cookie dough chunks. Perfect to cool down during a hot day with helpful service. read more

I saw some great reviews of Jeni's and decided to stop by while close to the area. Simple process to ordering and pick-up. At the moment, they are only letting 5 people in which works as it is small. I ordered the half scoops of Gooey Buttercake and Milkiest Chocolate. Both were smooth and very flavorful. Out of the two, I really like the gooey buttercake. There is a small sitting area but all the spaces were occupied, so we sat in the car to enjoy. Hopefully on the next visit, we can enjoy sitting outside. read more

I came here with some friends for some ice cream after having lunch down the street. Jeni's is excellent! They are taking proper precautions by limiting capacity. They are also not taking cash, which makes it better and safer. I have had several ice cream flavors from this location. My favorite is the salty caramel. I also have had the lavender and it is so amazing. They did not disappoint at all. I was able to find easy parking at this location and the staff is super friendly and helpful with recommendations. The waffle cones are also delicious. The only downside is that with COVID-19 precautions, there are no samples. However, the good thing is that I have not been steered wrong yet when picking flavors. They are so yummy. If you need a sweet treat, I suggest you pop in to Jeni's and get your sweet fix! Maybe on the not so cold days, you can sit outside and enjoy your ice cream! read more

Such a cute little ice cream shop! Darkest chocolate and salted PB is a flavor combo that compliments each other perfectly. The chocolate chips in the salted PB are even dark chocolate. The ice cream was delicious and so flavorful. To top it off the staff was friendly and very quick. Their most recent covid protocol is that wearing masks is optional if you are vaccinated. Unfortunately, tasting flavors is still not allowed. read more
Any true Birmingham native will tell you that Jeni's is a downtown treasure. After coming here for years Jeni's still reigns ice cream supreme! Their flavor cycle is sure to keep you on your toes for the season's best flavors, but don't underestimate the menu's regulars! My trio of half-scoop ice cream - dark chocolate truffle, brambleberry crisp, and watermelon taffy - was the perfect combination of flavors for my first visit to Jeni's ice cream. Just enough to get a good taste of each flavor and I can't wait to go back and try other flavors. Store is small without indoor seating, but on a nice summer evening (I know, it does happen), people can sit outside or walk around the pepper place area. read more
