It was really cool that he took that time to let us know about the locally sourced ingredients! The ambiance is casual but elegant. Like the details of the decor are absolutely stunning. Now let's talk about the food: the menu has some really creative options even for vegetarians, which I feel I've been hard-pressed to find in Duluth. I had their cashew queso bowl, which includes seasoned black beans, potato, onion, green pepper, roasted garlic salsa, pickled onion and microgreens all on top of the cashew queso. My husband had the breakfast burrito which is a flour tortilla filled with sausage, egg, seasoned potatoes, mild cheddar cheese and roasted garlic salsa. The food is so delicious and the portions are generous. Oh, I also had their chocolate pistachio latte, and my husband had the drip coffee. They have VERY good coffee here. If there are any places you just can't miss when visiting Duluth, I'd put Duluth Coffee Company at the top of the list.

The menu has plenty of options to suit one's fancy - pancakes, waffles, pecan/cinnamon rolls for those with a sweet-tooth, and of course any number of savory plates for the rest of us. Making an eating decision can prove difficult. the Huevos Rancheros looked appealing as did the breakfast sandwich, and the brisket eggs Benedict. I opted for what was behind door number four and picked the country fried steak and eggs. Much to my delight, instead of the usually Sysco food distributor breaded chopped steak topped with a gravy from an institutional food can - They actually used a rib-eye for the steak, and homemade gravy. I also had the option of toast or a pancake. I always love me some decent rye toast, but today was a day to mix it up, and the pancake was nice, and not too big. I also liked that there was an option for blueberry syrup, or Maple syrup. The other item ordered was the Greek Omelet, my wife truly enjoyed it, and they also cooked her hash-browns to order which she appreciated (she likes them really, really crispy). The view of the lake as you enter the main dining room is spectacular. If you are fortunate enough to visit on a good-weather day during the summer, the patio experience cannot be beat. Every time I have visited, the staff have been genuinely gracious and caring. Add a unique and generous drink menu on top of a delicious selection of meal options what more could you ask for? Many of the menu items are gluten-free or gluten-free on request. As with most of their menus, brunch options are unique and worth the visit. Lake Superior Hash is a unique and tasty recommendation. I cannot say much about most of the dinner menu, because I ALWAYS order the ribeye, though I have added the scallops on occasion. The quality and preparation of the ribeye are well above most restaurant standards. Don't miss it! I also enjoy just stopping in for a drink. I have struck up conversations at the bar with perfect strangers, while enjoying one of the signature cocktails (don't miss the Minnesota Old Fashioned). Be sure to make a reservation. This is the one mistake you can make at the Boat Club. With a restaurant of this quality, you cannot assume there will be an open table for a walk-up.
