Not sure how I overlooked this place. I will say move over Duluth Grill, I have a new favorite breakfast place in Duluth! We went to the Lake Ave. location in Canal Park since it was walking distance. Walking into the establishment you are greeted with the aromas breakfasts being made and a hostess who was friendly. We opted to eat outside under the covered patio to enjoy the day. The menu has plenty of options to suit one's fancy - pancakes, waffles, pecan/cinnamon rolls for those with a sweet-tooth, and of course any number of savory plates for the rest of us. Making an eating decision can prove difficult. the Huevos Rancheros looked appealing as did the breakfast sandwich, and the brisket eggs Benedict. I opted for what was behind door number four and picked the country fried steak and eggs. Much to my delight, instead of the usually Sysco food distributor breaded chopped steak topped with a gravy from an institutional food can - They actually used a rib-eye for the steak, and homemade gravy. I also had the option of toast or a pancake. I always love me some decent rye toast, but today was a day to mix it up, and the pancake was nice, and not too big. I also liked that there was an option for blueberry syrup, or Maple syrup. The other item ordered was the Greek Omelet, my wife truly enjoyed it, and they also cooked her hash-browns to order which she appreciated (she likes them really, really crispy). We were in Duluth for a weekend and wanted an upgrade over the free hotel breakfast. We came here right when they opened and it was families and small kids. I think the boozy brunch crowd comes in late morning. We were seated quickly and ordered breakfast. We got the usual pancakes, French toast, etc. Everything was good. Best ever? No, but pretty solid and the portions were generous. The kids ate it, which is most important. The service was good, too. It was a bit hectic for the staff because they sat like 8 parties of 4 all at once - all with kids, so it was a lot for them to manage, but they pulled through and we were well taken care of. I heard it gets packed by mid-late morning, so if you can, get there early! read more

Fast friendly service, good sized portions, and decent prices! This is my second time and it was another great experience. The espresso is solid and the food is really tasty. Tried this place for the first time and the food was well prepared, the service was attentive. The restaurant has an outdoor patio right in the heart of Canal Park. I had the Friend chicken Bacon Avocado Sandwich is was big and done perfectly. Chicken was juicy and seasoned great. Crunchy breading with thick bacon. It was very good. Husband had the Reuben. It was great. The onion rings were big and crunchy. The sweet potato fries were a bit salty but so so good. We will stop in for breakfast as we heard good reviews. read more

Had a reserved table for 11 for a bachelorette brunch and had a great time! Only negative was the hosts seating a family in the room with us towards the end of our stay when things were even louder than the start after a few drinks. Service was very quick and attentive. Food was really good, breakfast potatoes were very mid though - wouldn't recommend. Bloody was delicious and bottomless mimosas were a good deal if you drank fast! $25 for 90 mins. New American restaurant in the same building as adventure zone. Stopped by here since Grandmas line was too long. Very easy to get seating since they closed at 3, and we came on the tail end of lunch rush around 145 or so . All the seating is inside and it shares the restroom with the building. The door is by the parking lot and a little unassuming, but it's in there. Walleye Tacos: good size portion of fish and tasty. The batter is little too crunchy for a delicate fish. Would rather they use something lighter. The slaw has a sweet poppy seed dressing. It's a little drenched, but since it's not thick it'll flow out of the taco which makes it a little sloppy. Onion rings are decent. Overall a nice place to take a break out the sun and still enjoy canal area. read more

I ordered the breakfast classic with coffee. I was satisfied with the scrambled eggs and hash brown. Coffee was weaker than a gold standard cup of coffee and half and half cream came in small disposable containers. Basically what you would expect from the average diner. I chose pancakes and asked if they had pure Grade A maple syrup. No, they don't offer it even for a nominal fee. All they have is pancake syrup with high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) or the sugar free pancake syrup. Service was excellent. Food was average. read more

I ordered to go, not sure if that had anything to do with the size but the ingredients were lacking and should not have been. Never had been here - headed up to Gooseberry for MEA and made a pit-stop here for lunch. I appreciated that there is a parking lot (rare for this area) and you get some of the parking fee back for eating there. Were were seated promptly, and our server was friendly and always there when we needed him. My 14 year old ate an entire omelet and a GIANT pancake - where do they put the food? The cinnamon roll we had was very good. I had the huevos rancheros which were good. Overall very good experience, I would happily return. read more

This is one of the places to see and be seen in Duluth. Basil loved his Philly omelet. I loved my classic Benedict. The shaved ham really brings out the flavor. They give you a lot of hollandaise sauce which I scrape up every last drop. If I lived in Duluth I would find it difficult to order anything else but. I would request a steak knife, much easier. Raspberry iced tea seems to be a thing in Duluth. We came on a Monday at 10 good timing cause the place started filling up after that. Service was great. Wanted to try out the Canal Park area while visiting Duluth, and this was a good chance to do it. I was a wee bit surprised it was paid parking to go shop or eat at a restaurant, but it was relatively inexpensive. There was a wait - to be expected during prime lunch time on a weekend - but we got a table in ~10 minutes for a table of 5, which wasn't too bad nor unexpected. The vibe and ambiance was fun. Our server was nice and knew the menu and helped with suggestions. I ordered the walleye sandwich and really enjoyed it. Crispy, with really good onion rings (worth the upgrade!). The meal was tasty and lived up to my expectations for a place serving Walleye on the great lakes - I would have liked a BIT more tartar sauce / aioli (maybe on the side) as the smear on the bun wasn't quite enough for my taste. Service and kitchen were both painfully slow. We waited 18 minutes from being seated until someone came to take our order. We waited 35 minutes for our food - mostly breakfast food or sandwiches. Two of the five meals came out a solid 5 minutes before the rest of them, and the two insisted on waiting for us, so their food wasn't piping hot by the time we all started eating. I had to ask for a water refill - and due to a mild hangover from the night before, I was thirsty and really would have appreciated 1-2 more water refills. The place was admittedly busy - but if you're a brunch-and-lunch place, that should be expected at noon on a Saturday, so I would have thought they'd be staffed accordingly. Overall a very tasty and fun place, with some real service issues that I wouldn't expect at this price point. Would probably try some other places if I am fortunate enough to make it back to Duluth sometime soon. read more

We were staying close by, so we decided to try brunch here. It wasn't a bad meal, but I think you can certainly do better in Duluth with the plethora of breakfast joints available. My meal (egg sandwich and hashbrowns) was not hot, but I was too hungry to send it back. It tasted OK, but it would've been a lot better if it had been hot. DH had the eggs Benedict and we were both turned off by the way the hollandaise sauce had broken (see photo), but it tasted pretty good. The server was also very attentive. We both thought the caramel pecan roll was the highlight of the meal. It's only open for brunch, but there is a bar inside that was jumping for those day drinkers. Cute place, we enjoyed sitting on the patio under the pergola and smelling the lake. Might go back if we are feeling lazy and staying on Canal Park, as the options on Canal Park are typically pretty mediocre and I would call this one a 3.5. read more

The food here gave my husband and I food poisoning, honestly the service was great the servers and hostess were very polite and kind as well as patient and attentive and the whole place was nice and was really welcoming but the food was just not that great, we don't live in the area and just decided to try something new so we had no knowledge of the place and had a nice experience but as soon as we got home we both ran to the bathroom to completely destroy both of our toilets simultaneously out of both ends. It's a decent place for a quick bite. Food had good flavor but it was warm at best. Didnt send the food back because it took a long time to receive it.. Server was friendly but that's the only positive part. Server named Avery was great, but manners of hostess was non existent. We were a total inconvenience to her. Didn't even bother , just handed me our menus and walked away. Never felt more unappreciated as a customer by a restaurant. Food was not much better than heading over to a normal fast food. Won't come back. The restaurant is pretty cool & spotless! Our server Cora was fantastic even though she was super busy! Now to the food. The meat omelette was fantastic. The hash & eggs not so much. The hash was a little over cooked, burnt in some spots, but good nonetheless. The poached eggs were just awful. They were cooked all the way through.
