Absolute gem and easily my fav shabu spot in Houston so far! Huge interior perfect for large family gatherings or meetups with friends, more options than one could ask for, and most importantly delicious food! Bonus is that the AYCE prices are affordable - $22.99 for lunch (11a-3p weekdays except holidays) or $32.99 for dinner! Choose your broth, order meats with your server, grab additional toppings/sauces, repeat! I'm extremely simple when it comes to hotpot and ate platefuls of enoki mushroom and napa cabbage along with my meats, but I appreciated the vast selection. I didn't go crazy with their sauces either since I was so satisfied with the sukiyaki broth I chose. The ice cream bar is also included in the AYCE price. While I don't recall which meat I loved the most, we ordered multiple rounds of 1. certified akaushi wagyu chuck tender, 5. akaushi wagyu prime chuck eye, 6. shabu zone special prime rib, 11. akaushi wagyu beef belly. For lunch, only 5-11 are available. Overall amazing restaurant and MUST VISIT for any Houstonian or visiting foodie!

From walking in, the restaurant is huge and the servers are quick!!! I loved the range of options!!! But I just don't think I'm a hot pot person!

I took a break from Shabu Zone for a couple of years and gave it another try recently. I don't remember it being this good! I think their sauce bar has improved a lot. I'm big on sauce so I'm happy to see so many garlicky and spicy options. I'm a bit sad they got rid of their Korean noodles as those were my favorite, but the ramen noodles make a fine substitute. My favorite meat cuts are 5, 6, and 11. They're very thinly sliced so I order a lot at a time. My favorite broths are either miso for something light or tom yum for more of a flavorful kick. The lunch deal is too good to pass up! Their buffet of raw ingredients is diverse enough for someone to find something they like. I always get watercress and enoki mushrooms. The ice cream bar is also a nice way to end the meal. I'm a fan again!

Houston hot pot staple! I come here often and the service and quality is good. It does get busy on the weekends so come early or be prepared for a wait. Wide variety of meats, produce, and seafood. They have pre-made sauces that are yummy or a nice sauce bar selection. The buffet part can be congested at times so the weekdays are usually better. They also have ice cream and fruit for dessert!

I don't usually like to go for Shabu Shabu during the hot summers, but the family insisted taht they wanted to try this place, so I just followed....and I am truly glad I was convinced to come here as I must say, this was perhaps one of the best Shabu Shabu places I have ever tried. The place has a nice and modern casual, clean, very open and spacious interior.....and has a very impressive AYCE buffet spread of very fresh vegetables, seafood, and a good sauce station where you can create your favorite dipping sauce. All the fancier meats, are ordered off the menu. And, the best thing is, that you get to choose your own personal hotpot of soup in which to cook your ingredients.....ranging from the milder flavored vegetable soup, to miso flavored, all the way up to very spicy. Of course, I am not into spicy food and prefer to actually taste the freshness of my ingredients, so I went with the mildest vegetable soup, and was very happy with it. The huge variety of offerings is mind boggling, and a visual extravaganza! So much food everywhere! So, you really need to pace yourself and know what to pick or order first so as not to fill up unecessarily, or too soon. I don't eat beef, so mostly just enjoyed the chicken slices and seafood.....the chicken slices looked so thin when served raw, but once cooked, they actually plumped up to a wonderfully yummy thickness that went great with my saice concoction. The seafood, was equally excellent and delicious...especially the big shrimp that were so nice and plump....very fresh! Other than that, the quality of the ingredients is very fresh, the variety of AYCE offerings is huge and quite impressive, the choices of soup bases will satisfy any taste bud.....and all this, when combined with just the right self-concocted dipping sauce(s) mixture, will most definitely give one absolutely hot, fresh, and delicious tummy-filling meal. Furthermore, the service is excellent and we really enjoyed being attended to by our server....can't remember her name now, but she was just the sweetest, most helpful, and attentive server...however, it just so happened that she went on her break in the middle of our meal, and we just felt so lost without her. A very enjoyable experience...would love to come back here again during our next visit during the cooler months.

I love Shabu Zone. I come here to eat shabu and watch k-pop music videos. The service here is better than all the AYCE spots.

Still our go to place for special occasions like Father's Day. Tonkatsu and wagyu meat all the way.

- Individual pots (yay!) - Bland broths - Amazing sauce bar - Large selection of ingredients - Solid meats - Decent pricing - Quick and attentive service - Spacious and plenty of seating, but will be a wait to get a table on weekend evenings - Plays the same 5 YouTube Christmas remix songs on repeat. Please for the sanity of the customers and especially the workers, change up the music.

I've been going to Shabu Zone for years ever since they opened. This is one of my favorite AYCE hot pot places around town. The service is always good, and the restaurant is spacious and clean. It can take a while during weekend dinner rush, but it's definitely worth the wait. They also have reservations available. You each get your own mini hot pot with a broth of your choice. There is a huge selection of meats, buffet items, sauces, side dishes, desserts, and drinks, and the broths are always good. My favorite broths are the Sukiyaki, Spicy Original, and Tonkotsu, and my favorite cuts of meats are the #1 Certified Akaushi Wagyu Chuck Tender, the #5 Akaushi Wagyu Prime Chuck Eye, the #6 Shabu Zone Special Prime Rib, and the #11 Akaushi Wagyu Beef Belly. Everything is always delicious and flavorful. You definitely won't be disappointed.

Cold winter weather commands for a warming meal like hotpot. A good hotpot meal in my opinion, consists of a flavorful soup base (my top priority), fresh ingredients, and the variety of ingredients. Shabu Zone checks all these boxes. There are 8 different soup bases to choose from, 11 different cuts of meat, huge selection of vegetables, a good number of seafood choices, and a small dessert area but with 7 different flavors of ice cream. There is also a sauce area! I got sukiyaki, which was yum. They had sweet potato filling rice cakes and cheese filling rice cakes, which I both loved. I had a filled meal. The restaurant is bright and inviting. Staff is always around to help. This meal at Shabu Zone definitely won't be my last visit.

Soft music, white and red walls with Thai decor. Natural lighting during the day with warm interior lighting. It appears that there has been a makeover to the restaurant. I like the new look more. It seems more upscale in appearance. Dress code here is business casual. 4. Food - I've had their YELLOW CURRY WITH CHICKEN AND WHITE RICE. Cleanliness - dining area is clean. The waitstaff keeps this place in tip top shape. The only complaint I have, although not exactly about cleanliness, I would suggest that management take a look at the lock in the men's restroom. Although it was locked, someone was able to enter still. SUMMARY This is a petite Thai cafe. Everything about this place was enjoyable. I would definitely come back to try again and will highly recommend this place.

Once seated, they were quick with drink orders and attentive throughout service was impeccable...For food, I ordered my go to Tom Kha Kai, along with the crab wontons from their happy hour menu. The Tom Kha had a lighter, more watery base than the rich coconut flavor I'm used to. I know this can vary by region, so it wasn't bad, just not my personal preference...The cream cheese crab wontons were decent and nicely presented. They also served a complimentary appetizer, which was a fun surprise, a taco shaped fried wonton wrapper filled with cabbage and their house dressing...Overall, if you're looking for a quick Thai bite with excellent service, this place works. I'm giving it 3.5 out of 5 not because it's bad, but because the flavors didn't quite match what I personally look for. For what it is, it's solid. -- Pilgrim Sojourner

The plus side (#1) is the abundant parking, practically guaranteed seating, and options that skew on the more authentic side of things. The downside is knowing the limitations that come with affordably priced buffets and quality of food. The official entrance is from the parking lot between Vinh Hoa (#2) and the massage. Plenty of folks will also enter from the back, which is through the Dynasty Plaza mall and takes a bit longer. It then becomes a question of stairs (parking lot) versus an escalator (mall). At $18-24 (lunch to holiday pricing), the prices aren't too steep for AYCE food. Kids 3 and under eat free but are otherwise subject to $13-14 per person. Non-water drinks are $2.39 a person, so definitely get as many refills as possible. The place is as massive on the inside as it looks on the outside. Window side seating offers an elevated view of Chinatown, but don't focus too much on the excessive finger prints along the windows. The seating is so abundant that almost any size group should have zero problem finding space. There is also a large private room that is ideal for special functions, equipped with TVs and a sound system. Food wise, it's a hodgepodge of all food types. Here's a breakdown in the stations: Mongolian Grill / Noodle Soup: This is a combo station where one can customize their stir fry. I had decent results with lo mein, an egg, some vegetables with beef slices. The person cooking drizzled sesame oil, soy sauce seasoning, and water and each time it took around 3-5 minutes. The noodle soups are a bit more standard but the options here are the noodle options are wonton noodle, beef noodle, seafood noodle, and beef pho. I wouldn't recommend ordering the latter. Fruits & Salads / Cold Dishes / Seafood: A standard selection of cold fruit salads, which is unsurprisingly the least exciting part of the buffet. I'm impressed with the variety of the sushi on the seafood end, but the presentation and fish quality is extremely mediocre. It won't deter most folks, since most people perceive value by loading up on the rolls. When in doubt, shoot for the sashimi. Entrees: With the exception of the eyesore dim sum and standard fried food selection, there is a solid selection of hot food. The weekend offerings is probably the best they'll have, but some standouts here included the thin ribeye slices, a solid mapo tofu with a kick, well seasoned clams, fish slices, pork spare ribs, a very solid steamed fish, and several varieties of fried noodle. Folks might enjoy the Chinese-American selection, which should have all the classics (sesame chicken, beef with broccoli, marinated chicken wings, etc.) and then some. Serviced as a decent job of clearing tables, offering water refills, cleaning the food counters, and replenishing empty trays. I appreciate some small touches, such as their multicolored plates for different selections, bathrooms, and well marked labels. Buffet lovers who are in it for the thrill of copious portions will likely enjoy what's available here. __________ (#1) Aside from one's waistline. (#2) https://www.yelp.com/biz/vinh-hoa-houston
