We had eaten here before and it is a decent value only at lunch time during the week with their lunchtime pricing. Veggies are fresh and lots of variety. Mostly appears clean. But the music is often played a bit loud and sometimes garish. It is not a good value at their dinner prices ($30+ per person). Also, although they have children's prices for 10 and under, they wouldn't honor it for our 10 year old because she is taller than 4' 10". Befuddling policy to say they least. My husband and I had a late lunch here on a Saturday. Like many other restaurants in the area, you are asked to wear a mask when you are not at your table. Additionally, there are bottles of hand sanitizer everywhere. My husband and I both got the spicy original broth. The waitress explained to us that the broth was vegetarian so I'm assuming it's a kombu based broth. I highly recommend using the variety of vegetables and buffet items to season your broth. I made a broth inspired by a Korean jjamppong with lots of shrimp, scallops, green onion, white onion, garlic, jalapeño, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and salt. I also added a TON of mushrooms. The variety of mushrooms is pretty impressive. The broth was perfect for me. Finally, we ordered pork belly and pork sirloin as our meats. I recommend starting with veggies, fish cake, and meats first. Those season the broth. Then, add noodles. The last thing I do when I get to the end of the pot is strain out the veggies and crack an egg. Then, I add rice and cook it into the broth. It's a fantastic way to end the meal. After reading the reviews we decided to give this place a shot. I saw reviews that were negative and commented on cleanliness, but I did not see any evidence of that. Restaurant was clean. Well lit and welcoming. Staff was very very attentive and quick to bring us drinks and meats. Selection was good and the vegetables appeared fresh and washed! No wilted lettuce. Because you're practically paying for ingredients and soup broth, you can really only rate this restaurant by how well you made your own meal, so if it was bad... then you didn't make a good sauce. Great AYCE hotpot! The selections of food and hot style are basically identical to Shabu Zone in HK4. Everything tasted quite fresh and the place was very spacious and COVID-friendly. - Favorite broth: Thai style broth (new) - Favorite meats: #3 and there was another beef one that I cannot recall the number but tastes very similar to #3. Lots of seafood selections and shrimp were jumbo and juicy! I was also pleasantly surprised they served grapefruit although I was trying to find rambutan that night. They also offer you ice cream at the very end. We dined in for dinner on the week of December 21st and there were less than 10 other parties beside us. We felt comfortably distanced from others as we normally never dine in but made an exception for our anniversary. Overall comparable to Shabu Zone and their thai broth is a plus! Love Shabu Town!! We come at least twice a month. Have been waiting and hoping for an all you can eat hot pot to come to my area!! I've only seen one in Vegas and California. So many options for broth, meat, veggies, sauces. My favorite broth is the beef bone gravy which is like a basic beef bone broth. I usually have to salt mine for taste. My favorite meat is the #8 chicken and #3 prime ribeye. I also really like the fried rice which is kinda hidden at the end of the fruit near the kimchi. Also free ice cream!! Came here on Super Bowl Sunday and it was a bit quiet which was nice. Overall this place is absolutely AMAZING. As soon as we walked in the woman behind the counter greeted us and explained very effectively how the hot pot works and how the buffet works. My family and I were extremely overwhelmed with all of the options of what we could add to our hot pot because all of the veggies and seafood looked so delicious! Everyone at the table gets to choose their own broth and has their own pot to cook their proteins in. We got multiple orders of beef and the server was so great at suggesting popular items and bringing more orders when we were running low on beef. The shrimps/fish balls/noodles were so great I mostly ate shrimp with my seasoned broth. So good! On another note I love Kpop and they had music videos playing softly throughout the restaurant and I was enjoying every minute of it. I will definitely be coming here for all of my hotpot needs since I don't have to share with others at a table. Replaced the old Cafe-East 2 that was a favorite of mine so was quite sad that , that happened but this place was pretty decent as well. Also another buffet this place is pretty much exactly just like Shabu Zone in chinatown however the ingredients aren't as fresh and there is not much of a variety. They are however implementing good COVID-19 measures as making sure you're not running a fever and wearing gloves to the line. The place is clean and the waiters and waitresses are very friendly. This is an absolutely gem here in Katy! The staff here is attentive and very helpful! The food is great and lots of variety. You will be plenty full when you leave for sure! KID FRIENDLY TOO! The restaurant is impeccably clean; the restrooms are also clean; all staff wears mask. You have to wear a mask and use a clean plate each trip to buffet. Wasn't expecting high quality food from a buffet - let alone consistently. I've been here a couple times and the food is always good and so has been the service. There's a similar AYCE hot pot like this in Bellaire called Shabu Zone but I would MUCH prefer this place. I think it's way better. We came here on a Saturday night and it wasn't super busy. Half the restaurant was filled. We were so excited because this is a similar concept to shabu zone in china town. You get to pick the broth and all the meats, seafood veggies, and sauces are all you can eat. The staff was super attentive and ready to help us and clear our plates to make room. There wasn't much broth to pick from, therefore I got the house broth. It was very bland but I went to the sauce bar and made my own sauce to flavor up the broth. LOTS of garlic and house special sauces! I was very disappointed that the seafood and veggies were not plentiful. Almost every buffet tray was near empty. Like I had to take the scraps of certain items because I wanted it. I'm not sure what was going on, but I hope it was a fluke that night. The seafood was 100% from a frozen bag, still frozen when it got put on the serving tray. I could probably take someone's eye out with the frozen oyster if I tried. I would say they only had 3 soup options. Technically it was 6 but it was like 3 broths + their spicy counterparts. So if you liked spicy/non spicy you were narrowed to 3 options. I have the urge to compare it to shabu zone since the layout and menu is very similar. I probably won't drive to shabu zone from Katy, but it is definitely a notch above this one. This place is completely different from Haidilao but still a good option. We went for dinner and the price was $31.99 each, all you can eat. Super reasonable price for unlimited! You can choose any meats from their menu and they'll bring them out for you. The rest is self serve including any veggies, tofus, seafood, sauces and ice cream. I wish their broths were a bit more flavorful and concentrated. The flavors weren't very strong so it was hard to get the flavor into your ramen. I think that's my biggest complaint about this place. If they were able to improve their soup bases then this place would be really great! The staff was attentive and kind. We would definitely go back again since it's much more affordable but if you're looking for a special night out or looking to splurge, I'd recommend Haidilao over here. read more

Definitely not coming back to this location. They have a sign up that says gratuity will be imposed on groups with 6 or more adults. I had a party of 6, 5 of which are kids. When I mentioned about the sign they immediately took it down and said it was a mistake, that was old management and now it's new management. What business does that? Here is where I have a problem. I asked for steam rice. They brought me cold white rice. Then got upset when I told them it was cold. Then when I was finished with my meal they said they now had the white rice. Hardly checked on us during the meal. The seafood was not kept at proper temperature as well. I come here very often, but this will be my last visit. Just know they will impose a gratuity and now provide the proper service. There are more honest business around if your looking for a hot pot. I would recommend Haidilao in Asia town. read more
