    Banchan takeout

I was tired of holiday food so I decided to drive out to Katy Asiantown and ended up at Bon Kalbi. While sitting in the car reviewing the menu, I decided to just order and went into HMart for a few things while I waited for my order. I expected to wait a bit longer when I went inside the restaurant but they had my order ready earlier than the estimated time. The server was sweet and packed everything up tightly for my short ride home. I ordered the soy glazed chicken with a side of garlic noodles. It came with plenty of banchan and kimchi as well. After the first bite, I started to regret waiting so long to try this place. The chicken was juicy and the sauce the perfect balance of tangy and sweet. There was also a good amount of tteokbokki mixed in which soaked up the sauce well. The noodles were garlicky and had a springy bite, and the banchan were all tasty. It was a big portion so I had plenty of leftovers later. They are a bit pricy but they do have affordable lunch specials with plenty of food. Adding Bon Kalbi to the rotation!

The service was great, our waitress was friendly. The ambiance was nice. Very clean, bathrooms. The menu includes a variety of dishes. We ordered the seafood pancake, fried dumplings, bulgogi lunch special, army hot pot, and Bon galbi. There is also a variety of drinks, we got unsweetened iced tea, peachade, and hot cintron tea. All vey good.

Came here for lunch and ordered the spicy noodles with their galbi bento. Ordered chicken for the kids with non spicy noodles. It was cool that they brought out and gave us a Korean snack for the table before they brought out the meal. I really wanted to love this place, but the food was just okay. A pretty good portion though. The noodles were disappointing (not sure if it was supposed to be garlic noodles but overall a bit bland and overcooked) Galbi was decent but not a standout.

Wonderful place to get Korean food around Katy. Lots of seating and their menu is huge. We got the Korean Army stew, which was the perfect amount of food for two people. Lots of flavor. I would come back!

I recently stopped by for dinner for three. We were craving Korean foods, so we decided to try this place out. The restaurant was pretty packed at the time, but it did not take too long for our orders to be taken and foods to come out. The restaurant was also a lot smaller than expected. The menu was pretty small as well. We thought it was pretty weird that they did not have galbi as an option despite having "Galbi" in their name, but that was okay. We were told by our server that they no longer serve BBQ galbi here. Like typical Korean restaurants, the meal came with complimentary side dishes, and they tasted pretty nice. I ordered the Korean Pork Ribs, the Seafood Pancake, and the Seafood Tofu Soup. The Korean Pork Ribs were not bad; they were supposed to be spicy, but they weren't spicy at all. The Seafood Pancake tasted okay though. I really liked the Seafood Tofu Soup. It was probably the best dish of the night. Overall, the whole dinner was not bad. I would not mind coming back here if I really couldn't decide where else to eat, but I would not go out of my way to eat here.

First time here and do not know Korean food terminology. Luckily I was with my daughter and her children who are well versed in Korean food. I order the grille pork belly. I have had pork belly in other forms at other places so I decided to try it. The pork belly comes on some grille cabbage and onions and you get a side of white rice. Over all flavor was good and plenty of pork belly.. See pics of menu to see what we ordered. Prices are a little high but servings are huge. If you want to try something different and expand your foodie experience I highly recommend this place Service was pretty fast and everything tasted great. Small eatery but roomy and plenty of tables.

bulgogi hot pot, banchan, spicy fried chicken appetizer

Came around 7pm on a Saturday, and it wasn't too busy. The menu isn't super extensive with a few options in each category. We ordered the bulgogi hot pot, seafood tofu soup, and spicy fried chicken appetizer. The hot pot is definitely a sharing size, and we had a lot leftover between two people. The tofu soup was good and felt pretty standard across all Korean restaurants I've been to. I personally didn't try the fried chicken, but my friend noted it was comparative to classic Korean fried chicken. I feel like the prices can be a bit high, but having recently moved from Austin, it's nothing too startling and is probably comparable to a lot of Asian restaurants nowadays.

    Bibimbap

One of the first places we tried in Katy Asia town! Staff was very friendly and food came out very quickly. We ordered the Galbi and the bulgogi bibimbap. It also came with side dishes. Food was overall very tasty!

KATY, TX 77449 / KOREAN / 08-31-23 / LUNCH +The customer service was pretty good, but it wasn't busy during a Thursday lunch rush hour. There were two other parties besides us. +The banchan side dishes were pretty well-prepared and definitely made in-house. They brought out boiled bok choy, pickled radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, and sautéed fish cake. +The restaurant space is small, but tidy with nice decor. -The oxtail soup was lukewarm; usually, it comes out boiling, piping hot at most Korean establishments. The cartilage pieces were super large chunks and not boiled down, so they were tough to chew. I brought home some leftovers and cut them into little pieces for easy spoonful eating. -They don't offer the typical self-serve dish of sliced green onions like at other Korean oxtail soup restaurants. -The seafood pancake wasn't cooked fully; the batter was still raw, as if they rushed in the kitchen and didn't use proper pan/griddle heat temperatures. -No loyalty rewards program. -No weekday lunch specials. -They don't offer the marinated pork bbq ribs anymore or the spicy beef rib galbitang, which are two dishes they were popular for. -All of the dishes were very salty. -We got super sleepy right after eating our meals, so there may be some MSG thrown into the soups. What we ordered: '2 oxtail soups with cartilage $14.00 each '1 seafood pancake $18.00 Total: $60 post tax and tip for a party of two

    Bulgogee

I would 1000% recommend this place. Great service and the food was amazing. I travel all over Texas and Oklahoma and this is the best Korean restaurant I've been too. There have been others I love but everything we ordered was delicious, service was great, and the ambiance was great. The best bulgogee I've ver had in a restaurant. We also have the Galbi, pork ribs, tteobokki, and soondubu jjigae.

My daughter and I were craving Korean and we decided to try Bon Galbi for the first time. Our server was knowledgeable & she was very accommodating by recommended dishes. The Bonchon had several items to choose from and they refilled it generously. My daughter had the Bulgogi and I had the pork cutlet. It was a lunch special and it was very filling. I thought the prices were very reasonable than the servings were very generous. We also ordered the kimchi pancake and it was delicious. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and will come again.

    Spicy galbi jjim. A must
    Rose N.

Spicy galbi jjim This is huge and can be shared among 4. $45 but come with a lot of meat. It was my first time having galbi and I see why it is one of the things shown in Korean dramas. I loved the water container. It came with small servings of rice. In the stew: Kobocha, potato, glass noodles, braised beef short rib (great quality). At first, I thought it was not too spicy. Then it got too spicy too late. But I would 100% eat it again. I don't care. It's one of the best things I've ever eaten.

Beef soup, taste like sink water.

We explained it was our first time in and he nodded and seated us. Our waitress came over with an iPad and hurried away and said she'd be back. It took a while so we went ahead and ordered the base soups from the iPad, but when the waitress came back she explained how the order was already in and can't be canceled so we couldn't order the deluxe set menu. Which was disappointing, because the cost has now increased significantly. Then she talked us into the dancing noodles, which we agreed on because it was our birthday dinner. Unfortunately, she came back to say it wasn't available because the chef was not working. At this point we should have just left. We ordered lamb, meat, tofu, fish balls, beef tendon balls, assorted vegetables and mushrooms as well as the sauce bar. Food was great, a fun experience with the robot and cooking at the table. Everything was fresh and well organized. I just wish that we were informed of the deluxe menu vs the pick and choose. We left there paying about $150 with tip for 2 people. Tried to email the management as offered, but the email address does not appear to exist as I got a Failure Notice immediately.

There were plenty of veggies (cabbage) and squid. The shrimp were small and kind of mushy - probably from a frozen bag or just not fresh. I didn't mind though. The serving size of noodles were perfect, and maybe a little bit more than I wanted since I couldn't finish the whole bowl. The jiajiangmein looked equally as delicious - my friend said there was a lot of onion in the sauce. The array of banchan consisted of kimchi, marinated bean sprouts, cold kimchi pancake, and marinated spicy cucumber. Yummy banchan as well. Tasty Ko is a great spot if you're not wanting to drive all the way to the Spring Branch area for Korean food, and not wanting to spend an arm and a leg at Katy Asian Town. Really nice orange flavor and tender chicken. So much fun eating it since it is gluten free! Our kiddo also devoured this dish! Mild - not spicy at all! The Spicy Numbing Pot, while a little oily/greasy on the bottom, was still delicious! I appreciated that it wasn't knock your socks off spicy - it had a solid kick, and so flavorful. The music is a mix of EDM, Hip-hop, Rap, and R&B. They have tables and bar top seating. If you have a bigger group, I'm sure you can find a table depending on the time you arrive. There is a lot of seating. To start off, I ordered the Matcha Martini. It was STRONG omg, definitely a sipper, but it was so good. It was creamy and had a good matcha flavor. I love how they added matcha powder on top. For drinks, I also tried their espresso martini and Bubbly Pineapple. The espressos here are good, no complaints. The Bubbly Pineapple is so cute; it comes out with a bubble of smoke you can pop. The drink is very refreshing; it really tastes like pineapple. FYI, the drink has little black seeds, so if you don't like textures in your drink, maybe this one isn't for you. Also the drink came with a little frozen pineapple you can add to your drink once you pop the bubble As an appetizer, I got a dozen raw oysters and decided to add the $5 tobiko (fish eggs). Let me say, they were not stingy with the Tobiko, there was so much on my Oysters, I mean a lot! The oysters were good, and so was the tobiko, but I feel that with so much tobiko, it kind of took away from the oysters. Still good though, especially for $21 for the dozen with the tobiko! It was very filling I'm not gonna lie, I got pretty full with the oysters, but I still had to eat my entree As an entree, I ordered the Short Ribs, which came with rice and a side salad. I didn't think I was going to eat much of my entree since the oysters had filled me up, but I ate the short ribs down to the bone! I didn't have space to eat, but my stomach made space for this. 10/10 would recommend the short ribs, especially with the delicious sauce it came with.
