Having grown up in the Boston area, my expectation of a sub joint is a hefty pile of meat on a hoagie roll. A quintessential sandwich experience must be enough food for me to "need a minute" after I finish, before I could be expected to be mobile. Seven Subs approaches the cult of Boston sandwich culture a little differently. When I ordered my sandwich, I have to be honest, I was expecting more. And by more, I mean more sandwich. I played O-Line at WPI... someone had better feed me! Then... after my first bite, I was taken aback. The medley of flavors was the draw, not the mere volume. Seven Subs made me a spectacular lunch and I would have given for a fifth star in this review if I had not jealously eyed my fiancee's sammy the instant I finished mine.

Best sub shop around. Fresh ingredients, great service, and nice little seating area. Hits the spot every time!

Pros: -Unforgiven sandwich--sounded like a hard no for me when I saw potato salad but this was SO GOOD. Would absolutely order again -Sub bread is really good and not chewy Cons: -Cash only currently -Ranch is a bit watery Will be back!!

I don't know how we didn't know about this place before The Thing started, but "thanks" to The Thing, we've been scouring new places for takeout. And some days I just want a sandwich! It's very easy to order. Just call and they'll have it ready for you. No online ordering platform but that's ok! It's nice to talk to humans. :) I love how they cut the subs in half and wrap them already cut. The sandwiches aren't bulky, which is helpful for me as a stomachless eater. Some might not find it filling, so just make sure you get chips if your belly needs more food! Service is always great. We might not have known about this place before but they now have loyal customers ! PS I believe they are cash only- heads up

I have been coming here for 4 years and have never been disappointed. It is my go to for subs and sandwiches in the neighborhood. I even grab a sandwich before long flights. The owner is incredibly nice and knows his customers. He prepares the orders with care and they always turn out fantastic. Nothing makes me happier when I see the open light on in the window.

Sounds are so fresh so Good I got the bacon chicken ranch sandwich I will definitely return to try other stuff on the menu

Why cut it this way? The meatballs were really small, reminded me of cafeteria food. Two bites and one side is gone. Thin and small.

Not as great as some people are saying.. Went to Seven Subs because of the reviews. Purchased two large subs for myself and my friend got one large. Its a small hole in the wall and orders take quite awhile. Portions: ------------ The portion Sizes are really small. Too small in fact, although the prices are mainly around 6.70 for subs you can buy a much larger sub anywhere else for another 1.30. As most places charge 7.99 for a Large. We couldn't believe how small the subs we received were. Even though the guy was friendly enough...We felt like we got taken. The guy took quite awhile to make the subs what he did was take one long sub roll and cut it into 6 pieces which left us with subs the length of just over a soda can (when counting 2 pieces). Thats the Large.... (We knew it was one sub as our pieces connected perfectly, even the cuts on the sandwiches were off, So you'd have one larger sandwich and one smaller size on the full sub, sad when your sharing with someone else). Ingredients: ---------------- Poor. Wheres the beef? two slices per meat per sandwich sub... Cheap meat youd find in a grocery store and the Italian came with lots of lettuce. Pepperoncini was in there but barely as well as any other ingredients vegetable wise, only 2 tiny pieces per sub roll or not even. Hype: -------- I understand this is an area where college kids live and they are away from home for the first time, but obviously a lot of reviews are based from people with no pallet to speak of whatsoever and dont know what a real sub is like (apparently growing up in the woods with no restaurants?). If you really like this place I feel sorry for you. Final: -------- There are so many other alternatives to this place and much better for your money, quality and portion sizes.

Unforgiven: roast beef, potato salad, melted provolone cheese, bbq sauce on toasted sub roll

Ask the Community - Seven Subs

I tried calling twice and no one answered-- is the # on Yelp not accurate? We Ended up ordering a sub elsewhere.

They are definitely NOT closed. The owners thankfully pay more attention to the line that always gathers at the door to incoming calls. The best policy is to just go there and stand in line. It won't take long and you won't regret the wait.

It was so savory and crunchy and the eggs were perfectly runny, the hollandaise was rich and creamy and the spicy pepper relish added so much flavor and only a tiny bit of heat. It came with a greens salad on the side with a sharp vinaigrette which I love to contrast the rich hollandaise. The fried chicken and waffles. The twist on this was it had hot honey siracha syrup instead of maple syrup. It was amazing! The huevos breakfast burrito had fried chicken, chorizo, avocado, cheddar, tomato and onion. It has the perfect combination of each ingredient. It was so delicious. The portion sizes are generous, so we definitely did not need try the Shy Bird Dunks - which are their version of the chicken nuggets, with the flight of 5 sauces, but we ordered it anyway and took some home. Our server was great and always made sure our drinks were full and helped if we needed anything. The host was a little bit of a talking point for us. She seemed a little agitated and didn't seem like she wanted to be there. It was definitely noticeable but did not ruin our experience. We will definitely be back for more and absolutely have to come back for dinner. The rotisserie chicken looks amazing here!

I always get pretty much the same- garlic oil, fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil. It's a great sandwich- although once in a while their basil is not fresh. You can choose to get it grilled or not. The wait is usually 5-10 minutes, but at least the ordering system (pen and paper) means that I've never had an error with my sandwich. More fast moving places should do this I think. Italian Sub: $20 for a foot long, the meat was so plentiful it's almost overflowing, enough for two meals. The prisciutto was tender and juicy; the salami was firm and savory with a strong smokiness. Both are thinly sliced, so despite the thick stack, it was relatively easy for a bite. The provolone cheese was also generously portioned, with a robust yet not spicy flavor and a subtle nutty aroma, perfectly complementing the two meats. The olive oil and balsamic vinegar were particularly outstanding: mellow, tangy, and with a fruity aroma of grapes, key to the complex flavor profile. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were all fresh, especially the onions were refreshing and a little zingy, perfect for removing the greasiness. Unfortunately, I was worried about not being able to roll it back up properly and making it inconvenient to carry (which it actually happened), so I took it away and ate it at the office. After about 40 minutes, the bread had become somewhat dry and hard.
