Cherie's is our go-to local store for buying coffee and desserts. My husband's mood plummets if he can't start the day with coffee made from Carpe Diem's Organic French Roast Blend that Cherie's custom grinds for his French press. Just the aroma is amazing. You want to spend all morning with your nose buried in the bag. And it packs a flavor to match. I've stopped making my own desserts for guests, holidays, and birthdays. There's no need, with Cherie's pies, cakes, and death by chocolate torte on hand. The only hard part is figuring which to choose: 3 berry or pure blueberry pie, maybe cherry cheesecake. They do an amazing job with it all. And we love their scones for Christmas morning. My only gripe: they should introduce more cheesecake flavors and avoid toppings in favor of infused flavors. It's all seasonal, so some offerings come and go, which you want with fresh fruit, and they have a curated set of desserts at holiday time that you can pre-order, which is very convenient. I keep meaning to try their local olive oil. They have a refill-your-own-bottle system, which is cool, and the oil is that deep green that spells pungent goodness. I've had the potato leek soup and the blueberry pie from Cheries - both amazing! My husband has the Italian sandwich- loved it!

The outside sign is a simple C, for Cheries. Inside and small as it may be there is an amazing assortment of pastries, brownies and muffins. Sandwiches on order too. Cherie's coffee blend from Carpe Diem, yes their own blend, may be the best light roast I've had. Today was my first stop and now I know it will not be my last. The staff was very hands off which I like, let me make my decision of four items: blueberry croissant, magic bar, raspberry bar and cinnamon roll. The croissant and magic bar were excellent. I can't believe I've been living so long in the Kennebunks and never noticed this little house on the side of the road. Actually the Yelp ad they took out brought it to my attention, so advertising works!! I've been dropping by for the past couple of weeks, and what I like most is that they have about as close as it gets to "gourmet grab-and-go" in downtown Kennebunk. I know that sounds oxymoronic, and it is, but they make these "Panini of the Day" that you can just have them heat up right quick and grab some interesting beverage, like weird sodas and acqua minerale and somesuch. And you're on your way to the next meeting. Chomping on some interesting roasted turkey with garlic mayo and hoping it won't stain your tie!!! Think of places like Cape Porpoise Kitchen, or Vic & Whit's in Saco, or like any number of just-so places in the Port. So you got your expensive beers, and there is some wine to be had, and funky salads with healthy ingredients, and really good-looking baked items that I have yet to try since I prefer to pop in at Boulangerie just down the street. And you can do some great WASP-watching, old blueheads who vote Republican and dress up in their natty costumes. Real Leave it to Beaver kind of scene, just the way you want it in Kennebunk, the safest city in Maine!!! read more

We stopped here today while looking at houses and it was AMAZING. I had the Tuscano on Focaccia, which was a huge serving and the best focaccia I've maybe ever had. My wife had a hummus wrap packed with veggies. Very cute store with wine and snacks and other goodies. read more

I'm posting this review speaking for myself only and not on behalf of a third party; in this case, the person who made a relatively small order of food from Cheri's recently. I was part of that order and while the cost was covered by someone else, my jaw dropped at the price. Like literally DROPPED. A bowl of cut fruit alone cost us $80.00!! A "breakfast platter" with just pastries, the quality tasting about the same as you might find in most Hannafords (in my opinion), $36!! When I called to ask if these items were correctly priced, the lady who answered was professional but seemed a little irritated by my asking. She explained that their fruit bowl, (Remember, we're talking about a lowly fruit salad here) was charged at about $11 per pound, give or take. They claimed this fruit salad was weighed at about 7 pounds. I didn't put it on a scale but explained this salad did not feel anywhere near 6-8 pounds, but I take their word for it. The coffee, at $12 for a carafe seemed reasonable. The person on the phone told me what the prices are per pastry and per pound of their cut fruit. When I asked if there wasn't a break in price for large platters, she explained "We don't do wholesale pricing." *eye roll* I don't critique the service here. They're....professional. I don't necessarily critique the food. But $138.24 for a carafe of coffee, a fruit salad and pastries, blows my mind, a guy who's never used a coupon in his life and who doesn't think of himself as a very thrifty shopper, though I should be. By comparison, the largest bowl of cut fresh fruit at the Portland Whole Foods, priced for me by a staff member just today, is: $35 4.45 per pound While the food may be good, my some folks anyway, there's absolutely no way I'll ever order food from this little shop again, if for nothing else, than out of common principal. read more

We ordered an apple pie for Thanksgiving because our usual place Patten Berry Farm wasn't open. The pie was terrible. No flavor, dry and the crust tasted like cardboard and was uneven on the bottom and top. Too boot it was $30.00!!! For a 9 inch pie. Never again. The entire bakery is over priced and we won't be going back for anything. read more

I was highly disappointed in my visit to Cheri's. I used to eat here regularly 10 years ago when I lived in Kennebunk and it was absolutely amazing. So when I wanted to grab a fabulous lunch while I was in town it was my first choice. There have been many changes and none for the better. It was dirty, actually filthy, as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. The food was okay at best, sandwiches and soup, and the staff...well they weren't warm and welcoming as I remember. I can't express how disappointed I was, sometimes things are best left as warm memories. I will never return. read more

A lovely deli with a good variety of pastries, sandwiches, soups, desserts and more. Few tables available bust mostly take out. Fortunately, we got a table so we were able to enjoy the friendly staff and cool atmosphere. Everything we got was delicious, especially the spanakopita. read more

Went on a Saturday morning for breakfast and also got a sandwich for lunch later that day. Loved the frittata, the raspberry streusel muffin and the ham and brie sandwich. Delicious! The iced coffee was fine, nothing special, but they have a good variety of options and some odds and ends in the "market" section. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area! read more

Best breakfast sandwiches - only problem is I'm usually already an hour or so into my day by the time they're open so breakfast sandwiches are often far and between. Desserts, side dishes etc all well prepared - prices are reasonable - freshness and quality equate. read more
