Before we left New York for Maine, we put a list together of all the places that we wanted to try whoopies pies from. My family has been making whoopie pies for decades and every time I go to Maine, we try to find pies that remind us of the ones that we make! We came across Auntie's House in our search and knew that we needed to try their whoopie pie balls. Upon entering the bakery, we were enveloped in the scent of warm chocolate cake. It made my stomach rumble immediately! We picked out 6 whoopie pie balls to share. While I wouldn't exactly call them "whoopie pies" they were very good. We tried a few different flavors and all of them were tasty. We also tried the chocolate covered cookie dough bites ! Whoopie balls. What an amazing concept. We ended our day at this bakery because we were looking for whoopie pies and this place showed up on Google maps. They did have the traditional style too but had many more interesting options in the ball form. Think of a standard cake pop but 100x better and you get a whoopie ball. I had the pumpkin maple flavor and my husband had an espresso one. The chocolate it was dipped in was so decadent. The whoopie balls come in lots of flavors and are incredibly delicious. We've never seen them anywhere else, and now whoppie pies are second class compared to these. The service was great, too! The whoopie balls are AMAZING!!! I've tried 4 different flavors and each one is better than the last. We live out of state but stopped by when we were in town in October. I just had a dozen shipped for Valentine's Day and they are just as life changing and fresh via delivery. Have not had their cookies but did try a blueberry muffin when we were there in the fall and my husband said it was the best blueberry muffin he's ever had.
