Banana soft serve with strawberry and pineapple topping
    Jen S.

Our family has been going to this seasonal ice cream shop for many, many years. Today we were inspired to stop when we saw that they had banana soft serve ice cream as their flavor of the week wanted to get some creativity in with what to do with this fun flavor. One Sundae was topped with caramel and crunch coat topping. The other Sundae had both the strawberry and the pineapple toppings. WOW! TWO VERY DIFFERENT FLAVOR PROFILES BUT THEY WERE BOTH AMAZING!! My very favorite soft serve flavor is their pistachio but banana is definitely going to be giving some serious competition!! Honestly you can't go wrong with anything you pick - from a simple dish of their ice cream to one of their sundaes. Their waffle cones are really good too. Beware!! Their portions are very generous - a medium is most definitely a large! Dairy Joy accepts cash only but they do have an ATM machine right there. The staff is always very friendly and willing to offer up wonderfully creative suggestions.

Holy ice cream Batman! I stopped in here right before closing and ordered a kiddie cake ice cream with hot fudge and rainbow sprinkles. I was asked if I wanted whipped cream and a cherry - do I?? Yes I do. I got what was the largest cup of ice cream I've seen in a long time that was also delicious. Will return.

Tasty ice cream with lots of flavor options and friendly staff!! I usually go for soft serve - and they always have a special flavor that's in the machine with soft coffee. You can get it swirled with coffee (or if you ask they'll layer it with chocolate or vanilla). My favorite is their soft peanut butter with soft vanilla- it's so good!!! The fluffernutter is also a delight! Can you tell i like peanut butter & vanilla?? They had to reduce their hours because of staffing issues - and now closed for the season... but you can count on me being one of their first visitors when they reopen in the spring!

Such a cute little ice cream place. Exactly as you would expect. The type of place that is great for hanging out and taking pics. They have a endless variety of flavor combinations. We wanted the strawberry and fudge boat but in a waffle bowl and they kindly made it to our liking. We got hard served ice cream pistachio and toasted coconut flavor. While I was eating my scrumptious dessert I was planning the next time I could come back and get another. We loved it and the service was great!

Classic Biddeford ice cream staple! Our first choice of places to go! Highly recommended the NorEasters!

Another great roadside milkshake - this time maple walnut to go. Thank you very much.

Stopped at this nice little ice cream stand with outside takeout windows in Biddeford. Located in front of the Hannaford, Dairy Joy offers Maine hard ice cream and soft serve ice cream cones/dishes and other cold treats such as sundaes, Nor' Easters, banana splits, parfaits, shakes, slushes, Pepsi products, and more. and the prices here are very reasonable with a small ice cream cone for under $2. I got a Brownie Treat for $2.99 plus tax, which was a HUGE sundae, which had a generous amount of vanilla soft serve, hot fudge sauce, chewy brownie bites, and topped with whipped cream. Sooo good on this very hot day! NOTE: CASH ONLY

Great little Mom and Pop place way better than Martel's on Route 1. Better prices and better ice cream.

At some point, we stopped in Saco to check out a free roadside library when I noticed The Saco Scoop right next door and figured, why not get a little bit of ice cream for the drive? This small shop is located inside a little market style building and the store itself is full of random candy and souvenirs as well as the ice cream I came seeking. Like every single other time I see blue ice cream that has a name like "cookie monster" or "oreo cookie something blah blah" I ordered it and The Saco Scoop did it better then most. The woman who worked here was charming and quick to give us our scoops and get us on our way, and man, this might be the best ice cream I've ever had in the state of Maine (I haven't actually had much, but this stuff was incredible). It was so creamy, it was so flavourful, and it was so freaking good I wish I was able to stop by right now and get a few more scoops. Overall, The Saco Scoop is a truly wonderful little ice cream shop that I'm so glad I stumbled across. I very much look forward to checking Saco out on my next trip and this little ice cream shop might just be the reason we even spend the night.

One is flavor that shines through the cold and creamy dessert. Second is how sweet it is. Not too much so to where that's all that comes through. The last being, creamy consistency. So all in all, it's fairly simple. With this being said. Fielder's choice has been #1 for me, followed by Dairy corner in the # 2 slot. The only reason why, is that in my opinion, it's a bid too sweet for me. Otherwise it's pretty damn good over all. Today I happened to be driving by The Maine Scoop and decided to give it a shot. It's always nice to ad options when you are out and about. My wife went to the window to order for us. I wanted a coffee Oreo milkshake. She was going for the vanilla custard soft serve. A single cones worth. As soon as I had my treat in my hands. I gave a big long pull on the fat straw sticking out of the top. The first thing I noticed was a watery slurry followed by chunks of soggy Oreo. Then an extremely overpowering sickening sweet gush that took over all my senses that made my eyes snap shut in horror. My brain whirled in a panic trying to understand what just invaded my mouth. My God! I thought I was experiencing some sort of sugar coma onset. I quickly placed the cup in my holder and sat there bewildered for a few minutes. Until the wife looked at me asking, are you OK? I didn't want to sway her opinion so I just smiled and handed her the cup of disaster and said, give this a try. She enthusiastically took the cup and managed to get about a half of swig before she choked and shoved the cup away from her. Holding it at arms length she proclaimed, what in the world did they make you! We laughed for a moment until I realized I just paid $9 for this sugar slurry mess. I asked the wife to try her cone, I wanted or should say hoped that somehow my shake was some sort of mistake. It wasn't, sad to say. Her ice cream was also extremely sweet, but manageable. So, be warned, if you are anywhere near a possible diabetic. Avoid this place like a modern plague.

On our visit, there was a single solitary fellow manning the store with its wall of 10 frozen yogurt flavors, wall of dry toppings, counter length of additional dry toppings, a small cluster of fruit options directly across from the wall o' froyo, and, last but not least, four squeeze bottles! Can you tell I liked the squeeze options? Too bad the caramel solidified on contact with the chilly yogurt. Also too bad they don't have my favorite all-time topping - mochi. Sampling is not encouraged due to some folks taking advantage last season, but if you ask, they'll probably let you. Tart? No. Sweet? Yes. I liked all the flavors I tasted, but the fudge brownie was too liquidy - forgot to tell him so he could fix it, oops! If I remember correctly, the per ounce price here is 49 cents, but my nice little cupful cost me $3.78 due to the addition of tax. I also remember seeing some sign mentioning low-fat, but I don't know if it was for all their flavors or just certain ones.
