A decent dim sum place but their chili oil wasn't spicy at all, especially the spicy wontons. Makes Taco Bell hot sauce look hot. Which was surprising because the majority of the restaurant was Asian so you'd think they wouldn't cater to white people taste. The XLB dumplings were about comparable to Din Tai Fung. Definitely hot enough to burn your tongue. Pan fried dumpings were solid and crispy. About 25 minute wait for Saturday lunch on Yelp, no reservations. We walked around Petco and Trader Joe's which is convenient. Parking is crowded and a little dangerous so be careful. Seating is a little tight and pretty loud inside. I really did enjoy all the dishes we ordered. Service was a little weird for us. As in they would be great in refilling our waters and taking away empty plates, but they never really approached us to ask if we needed anything (check/boxes included, even though we stopped eating for awhile). We ordered a fair amount of food for 4 people since we wanted to try a little bit of everything. We ordered: spicy XLB, pan fried dumplings, cucumber appetizer, spicy wontons, beef roll, tomato beef noodle soup and the golden beef noodle soup. Cucumber appetizer - nice and refreshing, Great little appetizer to balance out the oils from all the dumplings. For the price to amount..may be a little bit pricey. Beef roll - really good and probably one of my favorites! The portion is fair and the size of each piece is pretty big. Skin is nice and crispy, while there's a good portion of meat to cilantro and sauce. I really liked the beef roll here and would recommended getting it! Spicy XLB - friend wanted to try this over the classic XLB. Wrapping was nice and thing. The XLB here are a bit fragile in my opinion - I only feel this way because 2 of them ripped upon picking it up :( the soup! Flavor was nice but nothing amazing for me. Pan fried dumplings - probably my favorite dumpling of them all! It was surprisingly juicy and I wasn't expecting it. Portion size is nice and good shareable amount. Would recommend to try this! Spicy wontons - these were my least favorite of the dumpling dishes sadly. Felt the sauce wasn't as flavorful (comparing to DTF or Paradise Dynasty). Filling amount was fine; was overall just average for me. Tomato beef noodle soup - a friend got this and let me try the broth. I liked it a lot! This is non-spicy so great for those who don't handle spice. I'd get this next time I come here. Golden beef noodle soup - soup was great flavor! It had peppers but surprisingly not really spicy. Portion size is great - good for sharing if you're ordering other stuff. I thought it was a little strange that it had kale because I don't see that veggie typically in Asian soup dishes lol. If you're craving dintaifung without having to wait the long lines then i highly recommend seven grams. I love the small and cozy ambience but even more i love how delicious everything tasted. The xiaolongbao dumplings were very juicy and came out quickly. Be careful when biting into them bcause of the hot soup inside. Wontons were plump and juicy and the sauce wasn't too spicy so even kids can enjoy. I really enjoyed my meal with the passion fruit green tea, not super sweet and has that slight bitterness of the tea but extremely refreshing in these hot temperatures. Din Tai whoooo?! Can't believe I waited this long to try this XLB spot. Their soup dumplings were juicy, flavorful, and just the right size. They come 6 to a serving and my friend and i had two servings and an order of wontons in chili oil, which was also solid-but the XLB were the highlight of our meal. The skin of the dumpling was the PERFECT thickness to hold the fillings without breaking the moment you pick it up and not too thick where you feel like you're a getting a big mouthful of flour. The chili lol is so good. I like spicy condiments, but this was very friendly to non-spicy palates. It's more savory and nutty and smoky with the teeniest little kick. Scallion pancakes were very crispy and also not too doughy. I have heard the beef roll here is really good but didn't have any more room in my stomach to try anything else. I saw a plethora of other dishes (katsu, noodles, etc) so I will definitely have to check out next trip. Delicious xlbs! There's a shared lot for this place. They didn't have the yelp waitlist active on the app but they have a stand in front of the restaurant for you to join. It's not great for parties of more than 4. We waited a while to get seated to be squeezed into a table of 4 when we had 5 guests. The beef rolls were flakey and crispy, but could use more hoisen sauce. The xlbs were PERFECT. Chicken dumplings were on the denser side but hey, you're getting your money worth. Id skip the seafood fried rice, it was a big portion but I didn't like the taste. Order the spicy wontons !!! read more

Scallion pancakes- good flavor and texture, a good side. This was the equivalent to ordering garlic bread at an Italian spot. Don't fill up on the bread, which is easy to do because it so tasty. Spicy wontons- hit the spot! I appreciated the fact that they were not overly spicy. There is spicy oil on the side if you need an extra kick. Love this place! Usually a wait for a reason but the staff are very pleasant and helpful as well as prompt. We always enjoy the beef rolls served hot (2 rolls each cut into three pieces) crispy on the outside with fresh veg and thin sliced beef inside. I have to have my watermelon juice made fresh to order and their cucumbers are exceptional- perfectly marinated with lots of crunch. We also like the XLB as the dough is light and thin and the soup inside a special treat. Indoor seating only no reservations but an electronic waitlist so you don't miss grabbing your table. Finally got to try this place after passing by so many times and seeing a lot of people line up outside. I now see why this place is packed so often. I found a new delicious Taiwanese style restaurant close to home. For the appetizer dish, we chose the pig ears. Really tasteful. They had just the right amount of but and chewiness to them. Thinly sliced and perfectly seasoned. We had the golden prime beef noodle soup and the xiao long bao for our next dishes. The beef noodle soup is deceivingly spicy. The broth isn't the usual red, but it sure packs a punch, in a good way. Noodles were cooked perfectly and they gave a good amount of beef chunks. The shrimp XLB was delicious as well. I did wish it had a little more soup in there though. Fantastic spot found and I am going to be back soon. read more

Was in OC and my family recommended this place for some dumplings. It's located in a strip mall, you'll see people waiting outside, so you can't miss it. We waited about 15 minutes, which isn't too bad. They seem to be able to get people in and out without sacrificing the quality of the food & service. We had a small table for the 4 of us, right by the door. I was seated between the hostess and the front door, so I kept having to scoot my chair closer to the table because folks kept bumping into my chair. We ordered several items to start with. 2 types of XLB, the scallion pancakes, spicy wontons, ham fried rice, cucumbers and noodles . The food came out pretty quick and before you know it, our table was out of space. The food was seasoned really well, and everything was fresh. The items that were "spicy" - were just fine for me (I'm not normally a fan of spicy foods) and were not overpowering. Just a warning, the spicy XLB - that soup in the dumpling is where they get you. The scallion pancakes were way over cooked and borderline burnt. It was super crispy, so much so that when you took a bite, it would shatter the rest of it. The other thing I would like to point out, is the fried rice. They don't bring out bowls, so you have to try to eat it from your plate with chop sticks. While I am skilled at using chop sticks, it's much easier to shovel it into your pie hole with a bowl. My ranking of the XLB: 1. Crab - they were really good and you knew it was crab flavor as soon as you ate it. 2. Spicy - had a good kick that was not over powering. The kick is all in the soup inside the dumpling. 3. 7 Grams - these were your average XLB. The service was good, the staff would check in with us every so often. Amazing dumpling and XLB spot in Tustin. Their XLB is good and filled with soup; portions are big ! I also loved their beef roll and was genuinely surprised at how good it was. Their scallion noodles are also a must try; get the wontons to eat with the noodles!!! I wasn't a huge fan of the pan fried dumplings compared to everything else we got but it wasn't bad! Everything was SO yummy. I was particularly blown away by the xlb. The skin was nice and thin and inside was bursting with soup. So reasonably priced too! The cucumbers were also SO YUMMY. Warning! When you order mapo tofu, BE CAUTIOUS as it can cause numbness in your tongue. We ordered various dishes including mapo tofu. After taking one spoon full of that mapo tofu, my tongue started getting numb. After that I had no tastes for all other dishes. The same thing happened to my wife. Luckily my growing teenager son chose not to eat Mapo and he was fine. He ended up eating all the other dishes for us. I asked a couple of servers if they ever heard of customers complaining about numbness they experienced, and surprisingly, they said yes. They should've written in some type of warning or disclosure of some kind. The numbness lasted about an hour. I couldn't taste any other dishes.
