Jason, Sondra, Taylor and Chris took care of us! They were awesome! Great service!!! We have had an awesome time and the bartenders are great!! Food is amazing of course especially the chorizo taco and habanero taco But don't even get me started on the STREET CORN! This place is amazing! read more

Love it love it LOVE IT!!! Best place for late night dining with $2 tacos and tequila shots after 10! I can't tell you how much I love this place! Honestly I haven't tried anything that I didn't like yet. (Fish tacos! Mexican Sweet corn!) The location is great in the heart of Soulard catty corner from the farmers' market, plus it's connected through an inside corridor to Epic Pizza and the International Tap House (which is great to get a drink at while you wait-or you can bring your food from Mission there!) Love hanging out here with my friends! read more

Found this hidden gem while stuck in a very depressing night club around the area. The place is lively and love the ambiance plus decor. The food here is super cheap and I absolutely love the Milanesa Tortas. It's a great place to hang out with friends. I definitely recommend this place and will come back again. read more

Really good food fast service great atmosphere! Loved it! Shrimp tacos were great! Salsa was fire!

I find them way overrated noisy and very young crowd focused. They tend to impress people that really don't know good food. Hopefully they will decide to up the flavor of their sauces and learn to cook the meat correctly. read more

Great tacos but they are pricey for such a small taco. You need several to get full. Chips are good (still warm) but the hot salsa was kinda flat. The service was meh. Maybe because they were packed but still... They made me feel like I was 'bugging' them for stuff. The supposed famous margarita was the weakest I've ever tasted. The glass was so full of ice I maybe got three good swallows of actual drink. Nice little trick there...its called displacement. Lets take up most of the volume of the glass with ice instead of margarita. I don't see myself coming here often but maybe when family or friends come into town. read more

LOVE this place, amazing tacos & great Chorizo queso dip! Margaritas aren't bad either just a little pricey for the size.

There are few things that can create so much happiness. Mission Taco is the most beautiful creation ever to be discovered. Everything is so damn good it melts your brain. I subconsciously leave personal items behind so that I am forced to come back, at least, I'm pretty sure I do. read more

Ordered a burrito - the "New Year's Resolution" - and it came covered in oil. It doesn't say this as an ingredient on the menu, so I was a little irritated. I hate giving bad reviews, but this place charged me for the burrito when I only ate 3 bites of it, and requested something different. It may sound like i'm an extremist, but I am a vegan and was hoping they could cater to me, since they have all the ingredients necessary. All in all, the service was not the greatest, so i felt the need to speak out on it. read more

My husband and I went around 2p on a Friday; the tables were about a quarter full, just a couple people at the bar. We got service right away from a friendly enough server; there was also an obvious beginner clearing a table next to us who was making a bit of a racket and dropping things, including a glass that luckily didn't break. We got our waters and drinks quickly (my Mission Paloma was delicious), and then we ordered our food. My husband got the Milanese torta and I got the Ahgado torta (which is described as being "smothered in chile ancho sauce"). Our server specifically said, "Do you want those with the fries...?" We both wanted the fries and said so. Our food arrived alarmingly fast, brought by the beginner rather than our regular server. I saw our tortas and two bowls of cilantro rice on her tray, which she started to put down. I told her that we ordered fries and she said, "I thought it said rice." I assured her that I hate cilantro and would not have ordered rice as she walked away without an apology. I also noticed there were no knives in the collection of silverware on the table. I ordered a sandwich that was smothered in sauce so it was not something that could be eaten with my hands. I tried unsuccessfully to eat it with a fork alone and then asked for a knife which was greeted with a slightly annoyed face. WTF? In the meantime, the fries arrived, way too quickly to have been made fresh. They weren't exactly cold, but they were NOT hot and they were most definitely not made to order and had obviously been sitting for a while which was very, very disappointing. The server then brought me a huge knife, some sort of Texas steakhouse monstrosity, presented on a cocktail napkin like I had asked for something extraordinary (a regular table knife would have been sufficient). My torta was just okay. The meat was underseasoned, the beans were barely existent, and the chihuahua cheese appeared to have been melted on the sandwich some time previous to me actually ordering it. The smothering sauce was surprisingly bland. None of it was particularly hot (as in heated, not spice, though there wasn't much spice either). Our server was perfectly friendly and the service was fine, though the knife presentation was weird. All the blame here goes to the kitchen. I do not appreciate being served old food and that is the only explanation I have for what we received. We've had much better food at the Delmar location and we probably won't go back here. read more

I was very excited to go to mission taco cause I have heard so much talk about it, but I will never be back. They charged me full price after 10pm which is supposed to be 2$ and being my first time I didn't notice till after I left and saw it on their website. All the meat in all three tacos I got was super over cooked and the toppings we not correct. Very upset with my visit. Won't be back. read more

Our 30 minute wait for the table was well worth it after trying their incredible queso dip. The guacamole and tacos were also very very good. Probably one of the best taco spots I've been to. read more

It was my first time going to this place with my family and I'm so disappointed with their food, I ordered the grilled Chicken burrito (south Beach), it was the worse burrito; my kid had chicken tender and she could not finish it, it was very insipid, no taste, my husband's fish tacos was super salty and not good, even their cheese quesadilla was bad. We wasted our money on a tasteless and pricey tacos.yucky!! .NEVER AGAIN. read more

Hi my name is Rachel and I am not a huge fan of Mission Taco. Before you start throwing stuff at me, yes the food is ok, nothing spectacular, and certainly not worth the price point. I really won't be going here on my own again. The service was good, the cocktails were good, the food was good. Just average stuff for well above average price. I would definitely go if someone else is picking up the tab, but I would not suggest it. read more

This place has great service, amazing atmosphere and good food! My family and I came here for our weekly dinner outing and we tried a lot of things! We had queso and chips and street corn to start! I've had better queso at other places, there really wasn't much flavor to it. The street corn was fantastic! We then tried one of every single taco! My parents favorite was the fish taco, the fried fish taco. My boyfriends favorite was the grilled fish taco and the chorizo taco! My favorite was the portabella mushroom taco! The tacos are filled with flavor and each one is totally different, you would never expect to have tacos like this! The meat on the tacos was all very well prepared and the toppings on each taco was different and very well thought out! Perfection in the tacos! Then we had the homemade churros for dessert, I love churros and was expecting something amazing, and was very disappointed. My suggestion would be try a little bit of everything! I left pleasantly full and will be going back, just will be avoiding a few items the next time! read more

Good tacos, chicken flautas super yummy, makes their own tortillas, happy hour at night every night

I read these rave reviews of this restaurant, and I really don't understand all the hype. I am not one to write a rip you apart review, that is just rude to say the least, however my review looks to be one of few that are raving about this place.. I have tried Mission Taco 3 different times, and I unfortunately won't be going for a fourth round.. the space is nice, nothing incredible or of that magnitude, however, the service was good and the server was friendly, knew what he was doing, added his own opinions which helped our party make their meal decisions.... I ordered the Carne Asada taco's, I have eaten these at many different restaurants, and know how carne asada should taste, it should be full of flavor, and tasty, what I had here was not good. the meat had no flavor, and personally I found it bland and tasteless, the tortillas were dry, and added nothing to the taste... several others in our party of 7 were also finding their food to be bland and flavorless.. only one person didn't find fault and that was the one who suggested the place.. when ordering the taco's / burrito's there are no sides with your order, everything is al-a-cart, so expect to pay a little more for extras. the chips and salsas (which are an appetizer) are tasty, however chips and salsa does not a meal make... come to your own conclusions about this place if you will, I don't understand the hype of it, but what does that matter.. not everyone can be happy, there are other places to go just as there are other customers that will come here to eat... sorry mission taco joint, unfortunately you don't get my vote.. read more

Probably the worst food in soulard and all of Saint Louis. Our food was so terrible we hardly touched it. Rather than our waiter asking how our meal was, he only asked if we wanted boxes to go. Clearly there's a problem if you have two full plates of food and your customer is asking for the check right away. He never asked how our meal was. We still paid even though it was horrible service and food. Unless you want to spend your money on a trendy atmosphere and water, save yourself and go anywhere else in soulard. read more

Placed a carry out order, got sent a text that it was being packaged and to come in five minutes. That was what I did, and the wait was 3x that, but they were busy so I did not mind too much. The problem was the fact that they got my entire order wrong. Salsa was DEFINITELY the spicy one. No one is happy to pay money for something they can't consume, especially if they were excited to. Both burritos I got were wrong in various ways. It's a carry out-- they act like there isn't a printed slip back there that tells them how I wanted the order. It's very sad because despite the Mission being very expensive for very below par food, I really did enjoy their burritos. I contacted them about my order and let them know how unsatisfactory it was, asking for them to reach back out, but have not heard back. If you are thinking about patronizing a Mission, I strongly suggest you go to the many Mexican establishments that St. Louis has to offer. Mission is overrated, and it appears that there is a certain type of customer they like, and that's how they intend to keep it. You know, those customers that think sub par ethnic inspired food is tasty? read more

The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 3 is because they have $2 tacos and tequila shots after 10 pm every night. I came here initially because their kitchen is open late. It was very noisy inside and more of a younger crowd of people which was fine. I ordered to drinks, one was $8 and the other $12 and they limit you to only two of the zombie (the $12 drink) but honestly I felt no buzz after drinking it and it was mostly ice. Its no surprise because that happens almost everywhere. The tacos are very good but very small. The queso con chorizo dip is very good but not worth $7. These are American Southwest style tacos with 0 level of spice or fresh peppers (pickled ones they use aren't hot) but they are still delicious! We are coming back but not before 10 because otherwise it's kind of a rip off for the amount of little food you get! read more

So happy to finally get to try MTJ! We came for my birthday weekend because I was craving fish tacos, and after some research this seemed to be the place to be. We arrived at 1pm on a Saturday and much to our surprise we were seated immediately, yay! Our server Sam was awesome! So friendly and refilled our drinks and checked on us through our whole meal. We started off with the Carne Asada fries. There was plenty for our table of 3, we even brought a few home. They were piled high with seasoned fries, huge dollops of Pico DE Gallo and avocado, plenty of cheese and huge junks of the Carne Asada meat. Then came the tacos, we ordered a variety. My favorite was the shrimp with the delicious fresh mango salsa followed by the grilled fish taco. They definitely don't skimp on the size of the fish in these tacos which is much appreciated. The hubby thought his Taco of the month, the Pollo AL pastor was the best of the bunch, it had the most flavor he said. He also like the chorizo, but it was pretty greasy (chorizo problems:)). The beef brisket was alright, but he said he would have preferred a little more kick to that particular one. We also got an order of the street corn. OH. MY GOSH. Please do not forget to order yourself a bowl of this corn. The grilled corn with the mixture of mayo and cheese and seasonings cannot be beat. I seriously could have eaten the whole bowl by myself. Finally we had an order of the churros for dessert. An order is 3 churros and a bowl of melty, oozy Mexican chocolate dipping sauce. The churros I thought were a tad doughy on the inside, but the chocolate sauce was divine. Would have loved to mix the leftovers in a tall glass of milk. Yum! Definitely like the vibe of MTJ, very hip neighborhood and very cool interior and exterior. We sat by the big, glass garage door. They have a large bar and plenty of seating, none outside that I could see.ind you it was 95° and I wouldn't want to be outside anyways! The prices were definitely reasonable for the quality of food. We asked for a received a military discount, THANK YOU. We always appreciate businesses who offer one and make it a point of letting our fellow members know. Will definitely be back. read more

My fiance' would eat here every day if he could! The baja fish (grilled) & duck are my favorite tacos hands down. He loves the three little pigs burrito, and we both love the street corn! The margaritas are amazing; typically I solely go for on the rocks, but for whatever reason, the frozen at Mission are fabulous! Love that they also have the reservation app ! read more

Great flavors. Went for lunch and got 2 tacos and chips and salsa. Two tacos is plenty for lunch. My friend got 3 tacos and said jt was too much food for lunch. The atmosphere is fun, the food came out fast and it was full of flavor. I'll be back for sure! read more

I rarely review things on Yelp, but three strikes and you're out... I've been to this Mission Taco too many times to count, and the past several times I've received pretty terrible service. It was 7pm, the place was busy, but not slammed. A few open tables. Our drinks took forever to come out (not the bars fault, they were sitting on the counter waiting to be picked up...). Ok, I can forgive that. But, then a beer was forgotten by the waiter for a good 30 minutes (he did bring another drink that was ordered at the same time...). I can let the drinks go. We order our food, which I must say is excellent, and don't see our waiter again until we are nearly finished eating. He had the nerve to ask if wanted drinks...no, thanks.... The real kicker is when he got our check. We were a party of 5 and paid with cash and 2 cards. Here's the deal, it's 2015- figure out how to split checks. I already knew that Mission Taco won't split checks, so I did the math and told the guy what to charge both cards. When he came back with the receipts, he didn't come within 3 feet of us, slid the booklet on the table and walked off. Didn't say anything- he might've mumbled 'thanks.' One of the rudest moves I've ever seen a server make. I might add that we were VERY forgiving at the table. Didn't cause a fuss. The service has gotten progressively worse at this location. I think I'll stick to the one on the Loop. I've always had good luck there. Such a shame when good food gets ruined by bad service... read more

Meh - our experience was just ok. First time here, and we ordered drinks to start. I ordered a Bloody Mary and was told that the closest thing that could be made for me was a Michelada, which was on their drink list. Um, okay. They appeared to have a full bar -- why couldn't I have just had a Bloody Mary? They had the mix. And the garnishes. Probably the vodka, but if not, why not use Tequila? If I had ordered a simple rum and diet, would that have also not been an option simply because it's not on the drink list? Anyway. I wasn't a fan of the Michelada, but they're not to blame for that. My friend ordered an IPA and asked for a glass to pour it in. The glass was quite obviously soiled, and even had a noticeable lipstick smudge on the rim! The server did not notice. Appetizer plates were stacked on the table, and we noticed that they were soaking wet when we passed them out to have the chorizo queso dip. Where I'm from, that's a health code violation -- or at least, very conducive to grossness. The dip was very good. I ordered three different tacos and cilantro rice. The tacos were pretty good; the rice seemed overcooked and mushy. My husband and friend had burritos, which they said were excellent. Overall -- food was pretty good, but the incidents with drinks and plates were disappointing. In spite of this, I would go back to try other things on the menu. read more

A very good taco joint. Tacos for about $4 or less and of more variety than your typical chicken or steak. The duck taco was awesome as was the street corn side. The shrimp and chorizo looked great but were typical of many other higher class taco joints. The beer list was a little disappointing as I find these types of taco shops usually pride themselves on serving great drafts. But anyways, they had some beer cocktails available as well and also a few more menu offerings that looked interesting like the burritos and tostados. A nice restaurant; no wonder there's about 3 in the city already. read more

Seriously plain food. I guess they have good marketing. Go get some food from an actual Mexican place run by mexicans. Little actual flavor. I've tried a few of their tacos read more

Mission Taco Joint was a recommendation from our bartender at Blood & Sand. We were looking for a laid back place to grab late night drinks. We were a little incredulous, Mexican bars are typically too lame or way too turnt. Oh how we were wrong. The vibe here was just right and Kyle made some of the best drinks I've ever had. Good bartenders ask what you typically like to drink and then can craft you some fairly delicious drinks. Now shitty bartenders ask you describe every facet of your ideal drink so they can make you one of the 5 off menu drinks they know how to make. Kyle asked what I typically drink. I said "Well usually I like Whisk..." He gave me "Talk to the Hand" and retreated to make me a fantastic cocktail. It was a daiquiri, but with Whiskey instead of rum. It was deviously simple. But it created a completely new cocktail that fit my tastes and was appropriate for the 85° and humid weather. He made a girlfriend a whiskey sour with a red wine float in response to "I like fruity girly vodka drinks". And she loved it. Order the Goonies Never Say Die, you won't regret it. Kyle also made me the best Margarita I've ever had. His blend of tequila and the fresh lime were perfect. The food here was great too. We had the fried chees curds and they were phenomenal. These can be over fried and the texture of the curd gets ruined. But here they were squeaky and stringy! Kyle recommended trying the chorizo and portabella tacos. Be warned the chorizo is spicy! The portabella has a texture that might be off-putting to some but the flavor can't be beat! If you are in St Louis do not miss Mission Taco Joint. And make sure Kyle is slinging drinks. read more

Trying to support our local restaurants, we placed an order for take-out from Mission Taco in Soulard even though we live in West County. After driving all the way down there and home again, we discovered that two items were left out of our order (tortillas and guacamole). Hard to make tacos for four without tortillas. This is inexcusable service when patrons are going out of their way to support your business. Won't make that mistake again. read more

I LOVE Mission taco but the Delmar location has better food and service .... My husband and I really liked this place. It's got a cool industrial city vibe. From the looks of the structure it used to be a garage before being renovated. Brightly colored art work adorns the walls and current music is playing along with the cardinals baseball on tv at the bar. We weren't starving so we shared 4 tacos. Beef brisket, duck, and both fried and grilled fish. We also ordered a side of the street corn. Everything was very good. We especially liked the duck taco. We would definitely go back and try other things on the menu. Our waiter Daniel was perfect, always there but not hovering. read more
