When I walked in, the woman in the front was actually calling me at that moment to let me know our order was ready. You get an INSANE amount of food for two people with the meal deal. 2 entrees, 2 pc of fried shrimp, 2 pc eggrolls, a large container PACKED with fried rice, and a large container of the most delicious and comforting wonton soup. We got the Family Delight, Kung pao chicken, and We added a third entree so we could try the noodles. The third entree definitely wasn't necessary for just two people we now have leftovers for at least three days. The food was hot, ready when expected, packaged nicely, and delicious! Taking a page from the movie "A Christmas Story", we wanted a decent Chinese meal before eating holiday turkeys and prime rib roasts. We ordered takeout since it's conveniently located next to our gym and there was very little wait when they opened at 11:30 am. The food didn't take long to prepare (about 20-25 minutes) and still tasted warm and fresh when it arrived home. The servings are large, but white rice was not included with the entrees. The restaurant is clean and easy to locate in this shopping complex. The staff is very attentive to phone orders, and even prioritized taking a phone order ahead of me, even though I showed up first. Their service is hit and miss, but food is consistently tasty. Much better than ordering from a fast food Chinese restaurant. 1 star for terrible service. On our drive back to SF from LA, my husband was craving Chinese food. We found this spot on Google with a 4-star rating and decided to give it a try. It was around 2 PM on a Tuesday--not busy at all. The weather was nice (about 72 degrees), and we had our dog with us, so we planned to sit at one of the outdoor tables. I walked in with a smile, hand waved, and said: "Hi, we'd like a table for two, please... we'll be sitting outside." The woman working there suddenly started yelling at me, "No, you eat inside! Can't you see I'm busy?!"-- complete with hand gestures. There were literally only 3 tables being served inside... and one left before we even ordered. I calmly explained we had a dog, which is why we wanted to sit outside. OMG... I was sooooo shocked by her tone and her raising her voice at me that I asked my husband to go in and just order the food to-go instead since I can't handle being talked to like that... and we're already starving and haven't had lunch yet. Honestly, what's the point of having outdoor seating if customers aren't allowed to use it... especially in that kind of tone? My husband said she later apologized when he was paying for our food "sorry, to your wife," but honestly, YELLING at customers is NEVER okay, busy or not. Totally unacceptable behavior! Very rude. The lady seems really upset every time we order and always tells us not to order a lot of food or over order which is strange you would think they'd want our bill higher it's more money they are making for their restaurant. Stil so grateful to Cagami Ramen for being closed that one day and forcing us to stop here for lunch one day. Still one of the best Chinese options in the county so far. Spring Garden is so much closer but Sesame edges them out with their soft noodles. The same lady is there every time and she looks so sad and thin but she's very nice. This is a takeout place, clearly, because while it was empty inside, people kept coming to pick up food. We tried the house special with soft noodles which was full of meats and had great flavor. I finished most of it myself before I left Ventura. The mugoo gai pan was the best dish, I believe, with the white sauce Mom and I love. The happy family mandarin style would have been better with the same white sauce. I had trouble with the broccoli when I snacked on an empty stomach. It's probably me getting less able to digest it, but that's really regrettable because this dish is very very tasty too! Steamed rice is extra, $1 a scoop but worth it. Eating out is a privilege. Sesame Garden is a very small Chinese restaurant on Daily Drive in the Camarillo Plaza shopping center near the Habit Burger Grill and Presto Pasta. It's also my favorite Chinese restaurant in Camarillo. They have a great selection of items, all with generous portions and at great prices. All of their dishes are excellent and always fresh. In addition, they also have great lunch specials at great prices. And the staff is very helpful and friendly. One thing to be aware of is they can get pretty busy on weekend evenings but since they're really small (only around 10 tables inside and 2 outside) you may have to wait if you want to dine in. So, I recommend weekdays when it's less crowded. To sum up, I highly recommend Sesame Garden, the best Chinese restaurant in Camarillo. read more

Yesterday evening, ordered Orange Flavored Chicken, House Special Crispy Chicken and Vegetable Spring Rolls on line through QMENU using my phone. Assumed that rice would be provided since I didn't see any rice on the menu other than Fried Rice Dishes, however no rice came with the order. Went back today and looked again and saw white rice listed under the Appetizers, so that was my mistake. The Orange Flavored Chicken is listed as "Spicy. Tossed with orange peel, green onion and chili peppers for spice." The dish was not spicy. It was ever so slightly orange flavored with one tiny piece of green onion and red peppers that had no heat or flavor in them. While the chicken in both orders was tender, both were coated in a thick pasty sweet sauce which I assume involved a lot of corn starch, although I'm not sure as I am a lousy cook. The only way I knew which chicken dish was the Orange Flavored Chicken was the fact that it contained lots of chili peppers. And I was also unimpressed by the spring rolls. I was very disappointed with both of the entries that my wife and I ordered. Perhaps the food is better when ordered and eaten at the restaurant, but for certain I will never again order food on line from Sesame Garden. read more

The good and the bad. Place had zero customers zero phone orders. Quite a change from few months ago. Ordered our usual chicken chop sued, give it a 4 star due to skimpy chicken. Ordered rice separate. It seemed like it was cooked 10 hours ago. Dry and unappetizing, give it zero stars. The saddest part is the lady taking orders. This restaurant is a small location in Camarillo next to Fitness 19. Some seating indoors, take out options and delivery thru third party for a fee. They have plenty of options for a reasonable price. Portions do serve two people. I bought a chicken fried rice and spicy honey chicken. Pricing is decent anywhere from $8-$17 reasonable. Went there @ 5 pm thinking it would be busy, well only one table was there and one waitress as far as we could tell. Older women not very friendly , we grabbed a table and she gave us menus and left for a bit. Several more people came in and left due to no contact with the waitress. She finally came back and took our order, wasn't over all enthusiastic to deal with us but none the less she had our order. She brought out our drinks and a little plate with wontons and sauce that were pretty yummy. Dinner took a little longer then normal to get but the kitchen staff seemed like they have several orders to go. Once we finally got our food we noticed there now was a second person on the floor now. Our waitress did appear to interact more now asking how we liked it. Over all the food was great but the staff was suffering. I watched two couples leave due to no service and several phone calls go unanswered. Poor tasting Chinese food. In many ways Panda Express is better. I won't be returning. No one in our party liked the food. Poor quality. I had the Szechuan shrimp. A little spicy but overall lackluster flavor and overly breaded shrimp. My mother had the sweet and sour pork. She couldn't eat it. Service was terrible as well. What happened to the food here? I haven't been here in a year so I don't know if they are under new management or what. The last time we ordered here the food was decent. Decent enough for us to go back. Sad to say, the food we pick up today was tasteless, bland and lacked appeal. I ordered the mongolian beef, house special crispy noodles and salt and pepper fish (yes we added the seasoning it came with).My family all agreed that the noodles and beef dish tasted the same. There wasn't a flavor profile to separate each dish. The beef also looked grayish brown. I was a little afraid of eating it to be honest. The noodles and salt and pepper fish were not crispy. The fish looked like it needed a few more minutes in the fryer. They also should have separated the noodles from the sauce knowing it's a to go order. $60 for 3 dishes and not one was good. My wife and I went to this lil joint a day or two ago to give it a try. So I'll start by saying the strip mall where it's located, had no lights on, which was weird. So you're walking up to this place is the dark, you can barely know it's open. The food was meh.. we were disappointed by the fact that you had to order white rice separately. (Come on it's a chinese restaurant..add the white rice to the entrees and charge a little more) I bring this up, because we assumed white rice would come with our entrees... nope, so we had to order rice AFTER our entrees came out. The staff was friendly I'll admit, we sat and enjoyed what appeared or sounded like yelling in the kitchen between two women (seriously it was entertaining) we both wished we spoke chinese some could have understood the yelling. Now I know for some people they love this place, there were a table of 4 young men behind us who we overheard raving about how good the place was. I loved hearing that, however, our palate was not overly impressed. I always want local businesses to succeed and I would bump up my review 1 star if the rice came out with the entrees. The names for the dishes are all wrong, I ordered chicken chow mein expecting to get noodles and was handed bean sprout soup-- I didn't realize until I got home and unpacked my food at which point I almost didn't come back but wanted to understand if there was a mix up.
