I was impressed by Ding's authentic Chinese menu. They have several typical Dim Sum dishes, which are hard to find in the Conejo Valley. The radish cake was too salty for my taste, and the texture was too soft. The pork spare ribs were tasty. Sautéed green beans were nicely done and a hearty portion. DH enjoyed the hot and sour soup and the chicken dumplings. Service was friendly and fairly quick. There were very few customers there for dinner on a Saturday night, so perhaps not surprising that they are changing management and turning the place into a Thai restaurant. Ambiance was quiet. Decided to give it a try to this restaurant. The staff are friendly and attentive. The restaurant is quite nice and clean. I came in after lunch time. So it's only 2 table that are occupied. I got the hot sour soup. It's perfect. The sourness and the peppery it's just like the old school Bbq fried rice is on spot. Kung pao shrimp lunch came with egg toll the soup of the day, fried rice. The egg roll and Kung pao shrimp also standard old school. It's good. Chongqing spicy chicken, it's pretty good but not as good as other place. The Mala is weak. But I still like it. Shrimp rice roll. This is a no. The shrimp is a small size shrimp. Each roll onlynhas 2 shrimp at each end. The rice roll, either microwave too long or i dont know. It tastes really off. Rice roll is like melt. I won't order this anymore. Overall. It's pretty good. I'll come back to try other dishes. read more

I can't tell you how happy I am to have found some passable dim sum in the 805! It's been a long time coming and I hope with this spot growing in popularity it will only lead the way to more dim sum restaurants locally because lord knows we've been needing them! Ding is a new Chinese restaurant off Moorpark in Thousand Oaks. This restaurant has changed hands multiple times in the last year. First it was thousand wok, then dong Chinese food and now, not joking, it's called Ding Chinese. At least this location has a consistent theme. I was under the weather and it sounded good to have some dim sum, noodles, and soup. I remembered this spot so I ordered it for delivery. I can't leave a review yet for the inside and service but I still got a pretty good vibe from getting their food delivered. Pricing was about average and I see they have lunch specials so this could be where you get your best value. My order was as follows: Egg Drop Soup: 4.5/5 Shrimp Har Gow: 4.5/5 Pork Shu Mai: 4/5 Beef Chow Fun: 4.5/5 Shrimp Rice Noodles: 2.5/5 Overall the dim sum is really good as was the noodles and soup. I was super happy with these bites and would get almost everything again. The dim sum surprisingly traveled well and was still moist & hot when it got to me. They packaged the food nicely and their dim sum sauce on the side was tasty. Unfortunately they don't package chili oil with the meal on the side but thankfully I had some at home which elevated the bites. For local dim sum this definitely satiated my cravings and was tasty. I honestly can't wait to come back. I'm sure dining in will be even better and I'm hoping to take some friends next time because this is a great addition to the area. read more

Early in the year, I had seen on Instagram that Ding Chinese Cuisine was going to open in the near future and would occupy the former Thousand Wok Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar space. Prior to it closing, we had been to Thousand Wok a few times and always enjoyed the Asian cuisine they offered. RIP Thousand Wok... hopefully Ding does your space justice. ------------------------ Earlier this month, my sister-in-laws daughter wanted Chinese for her birthday and so she invited my wife, our kids and I to join her and her family for dinner. For this... I was excited for two reasons!! 1) Who doesn't like Chinese? 2) Another place to leave a Yelp review!! So all twelve of us made our way inside and they had already put a few tables together to accommodate our large group. (I believe my sister-in-law called ahead to make sure they could fit us). First things first, gotta scope out the menu to see if they have anything fun or interesting. As far as fun is concerned -------------------------- -Various dumplings (steamed or fried) -Bao Buns & other traditional Dim Sum goodies -Shengjing Roast Duck -Pan Grilled Radish Cake And then there was Interesting ------------------------------ -Pickle Pepper Pig Kidney (say that 8 times fast!) -Stir fried Chicken Gizzards -Hot & Spicy Pig Intestine -Pickle Pepper Bullfrog Anyone Hungry yet?? Staff was super friendly, they did a great job interacting with all of the kids at our table which outnumbered the adults. They even surprised us and brought the kids a complimentary mochi dessert. Everything we had was delicious! So delicious in fact, that as each dish made it to our table, I didn't even have time to snap a pic before one of the kids rushed to the dish to make sure they got their fair share. There is a decent amount of seating and we were not the only big group that night! There was a large group next to us celebrating as well (I feel like they were possibly connected to the restaurant, maybe the owners celebrating the opening of Ding??) Anyways... Finally got to try this new Chinese restaurant in town. Ordered their lunch specials (kung pao beef and garlic chicken) that came with either fried rice/steamed rice, miso/hot and sour soup and a spring roll and some siomay appetizer. Nothing really special about the food. The service was pretty slow (had to wait for 30 minutes for the food to come) and the food was a bit oily to my liking. Not planning to return. read more

So salty! Their Tranditional Sichuan Jalapeño chicken didn't have any Jalapeños in it. It was crazy salty and they argued with me. A never seen manager in the back assures me that it was in fact Jalapeño Chicken. Even after showing them pictures of jalapeños they argued with me. It was 100% bell peppers and that would have been fine if it wasn't over the top salty and called bell pepper chicken. This is the third and final time for us. We are not returning. This restaurant is definitely above average. The food is pretty good. I go there because it's convenient and it's close by. I think their prices are commensurate with other places in the area but pretty expensive for what you're getting. The dishes are variable with some being really good and some being a little bit below tear For example I really like their beef dishes but they're orange chicken is not desirable for me. The rice is OK and their chow mein was really bad. I do like the hot and sour soup so it's really just all over the map and I feel like you have to try certain things to figure out what's good here The service is good. We come here often! It's our new favorite Chinese restaurant with dim sum all the time!! They have good service but English is a second language. It's usually pretty quiet and could use a renovation from the last time this spot was opened. I'm ok with ditching the mediocre sushi for dim sum. It's located where the old Thousand Wok used to be. I would love to see this place grow and stay here- super authentic and they have duck. Beer on tap and some in bottles with pineapple sake plus wines. We bring our baby in and the owner has kept her attention so we can eat before, it's super cute and we feel very at home here. The prices are good too! We have gotten rice every time it always seems fresh. Plus the egg rolls are fresh and don't seem previously frozen with a good crunch all the way through. Must try it at least once read more

Service was very good. Food was enjoyable. Pan fried pork dumplings and sesame balls were yummy. Did not enjoy the Shengjing Roast Duck, which I'm sure is an authentic preparation and presentation. I didn't like the flavor, not bad but kind of plain. And the it's cooked and served on the bone with very little meat, cut into 6 pieces with a cleaver. The lunch special portions were bigger than expected. The sweet and sour chicken and cashew chicken were very tasty. The orange peel beef surprised us because it didn't say it was spicy in the menu, but it had the same red chili that is found in Kung Pao dishes. It's was yummy but spicy. Overall good. Was very disappointed when dining here for lunch. This was our second visit and most likely the last. Very slow service to start but what really grossed me out was when they served us our Shumai and my son touched one then the waitress turns back grabs it off our table to serve it to another table. When I confronted the waitress it seemed like it wasn't a big deal. Then the cook kept coming out and arguing with staff, other tables got wrong food. Wow dim sum any time?! This is great I don't have to wait for the weekend and make sure I get there before 3 o'clock in order to get good dim sum. And they have amazing duck I think I've tried almost all of the appetizers that I normally get. The cucumber salad is really delicious I need with garlic. the shrimp dumpling or har gow, shu mai or pork dumplings are also delicious! The barbecue Bao is delicious the bao is a little grainy but the flavor is good. The pan fried chicken and dumplings are absolutely delicious!!! Spare ribs with black bean sauce is a really good portion. The veggie eggrolls are fresh and not frozen huge plus- so they are crispy throughout ;) The rice and lotus leaf is a little bland but still pretty good but my absolute favorite was the shengjing roast duck! Today we had the sautéed tenderloin cubes and black pepper sauce and that was to die for I did not overcook it it came on a plate with broccoli surrounding it and a bunch of sautéed onions and was extremely tasty. They have so many choices and original traditional dishes that I can't wait to try but there's so many choices we will have to be back often to get to them all. The ambience is still not quite up to par and probably will need to remodel from the last owners which it used to be thousand wok. And then it was some thing else but I wouldn't let the look deceive you though. They also have multiple beers on tap, like 805, Stella, Sapporo, and asahi. Plus they have nigori sake with different flavors including pineapple and strawberry. The prices are great on top of it all! I highly recommend this place for traditional Szechuan Chinese food. It's been a bit since I've been to a restaurant that's not popular but wow just wow. The food was amazing. The food tastes clean like what I am looking at is how it's going to taste and it tasted really good. The place was quiet with some soft music playing ima d gave this calm relaxing area. The service was great but English is not their main language. They even put the food in the bag for us! The prices were also great. 13 dollars for fried rice, soup, choice of meat, and an egg role. I really wanted to love this place as I was very excited to see dim sum on their menu and the reviews seemed to be very positive. My usual go to Chinese restaurant was closed so I thought I'd give this place a try and add this to my rotation of restaurant options. Unfortunately, this place did not live up to the reviews. Overall, the food and service was just okay. On the positive side, we enjoyed the soup dumplings and the crab cheese wontons. Unfortunately the rest of what we ordered was just okay. The hot and sour soup was heavy on the sour, very salty, and thicker than expected. It seems as though they boiled down the soup too long so the soup was overly concentrated. The chicken dumplings were dry and very heavy on the ginger. Service was also very slow which is surprising as they had 3 employees in the restaurant and a total of 6 customers (3 tables) at the time we were there. But if it is a place you plan to have a romantic first date, suggest you choose a restaurant located near Lindero Canyon where restaurants provides candle lights lakeside dining. I was pleasantly surprised just how courteously they agreed to make anything with tofu. Some places only restrict to one or two items. I mostly go for lunch, and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The orange tofu was astounding. Real orange pieces, with juice. The garlic tofu was heavenly. The cashew tofu was good, but so far my favorite is the garlic. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. Never in my life had pan fried shredded radish and now I'm addicted. Also, you may find this strange, but having traveled to Hong Kong, the food has a good oiliness that is legit. That doesn't mean greasy. Traditional Chinese food, as in a place where you would find Chinese immigrants eating. So a few items might seem foreign to an American palate, but please don't let that stop you. They do still offer dishes that Thousand Wok prepared, (pho and Pad Thai) but other than that it is distinctively traditional. I have always wanted a Dim Sum option for Thousand oaks for many years. Going into the SF valley or even to San Gabriel is an incredible hassle and a long drive. So I was pleasantly surprised that we saw Ding Chinese Restaurant opened recently and served Dim Sum! We had to try it and it was good! They don't have the wide assortment of dishes that SG valley dim sum restaurants have, but do serve the basics: har gow, siu mai, chicken feet, rice noodle rows, char siu bao, gin dui, sticky rice, as well as chow mein and chow fun. We tried all of these dishes (except for the chicken feet) and they tasted better that the last SG valley restaurant we tried! We'll certainly be back to try their dinner menu!
