Three Ingredient Tastes

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Camarillo. The food here is generally good. IMO the overall tastes and flavor of the food here just surpasses other restaurants when comparing the same dishes. This is the only place that I've seen where you can get a whole roast duck. It's expensive and you have to preorder in advance. We had tried it once for a special occasion and it was well worth it. Service is consistently good.

I decided that I needed to come back here to leave an updated review. I'm slightly ashamed since my review over a decade ago I didn't think to come back to give them an upgraded hyped review. Sorry! Chester's is definitely a Camarillo stable Chinese restaurant and when you speak to the locals about some of their favorite places to dine (especially for Asian inspired dishes) almost always without fail someone mentions Chester's. This spot is definitely comforting and always here for when you're craving a tasty snack. I continue to order takeout from this location a few times a year. I've found items that always hit the spot and while I'm still pretty particular about my Chinese food, there are enough upgrades with the dishes I've tried that I needed to report back to give them an honorable 4 stars. I've grown to really enjoy some of their noodle dishes, especially the rice noodles with beef and black bean sauce. My number one favorite dish here however is their War Wonton Soup. Anytime I am feeling under the weather or trying to beat a cold I always have to get soup from them. A piping hot bowl of soup with a good broth and made with love instantly makes me feel better. The staff here are really nice. I love the woman who works the register and takes the calls. She is so lovely and I would assume one of the owners. Always nice people here and while I don't dine in, their takeout system is flawless. I appreciate Chester's for what it is and Camarillo definitely loves and supports this spot which I am always happy to see and read.

I've directly or indirectly heard of 3 people who recommended trying this place recently. Although someone instructed me to try the Peking duck, I read that you must call 1 or 2 hours ahead for its preparation, so I chose to skip it. First, the restaurant is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Once you go inside, there's beautiful red-focused decor. Next, we were seated almost immediately. Because I'm already elderly at heart, I love having early dinner (and early bedtimes). The restaurant wasn't very busy, and the waiter kept checking in on us. We were also provided complimentary tea, which was welcome, especially after a cold day. I tried the gourmet choice selection on the menu and was able to try the wonton soup, BBQ pork fried rice, egg rolls, fried shrimp, paper-wrapped chicken, orange chicken, and cashew chicken. The BBQ pork fried rice was bland, and the egg rolls and fried shrimp were just okay. The cashew nut chicken didn't have many cashews and wasn't flavorful. The paper-wrapped chicken and orange chicken were very delicious. However, the wonton soup was phenomenal! It was the best wonton soup I've ever had. To top it all off, we were provided with fortune cookies. My cookie had no fortune in it. This is apparently a bad sign and signifies I may not have a future. Or, perhaps, per the internet, my future is a blank slate for me to take control of and set my own course. Either way, I think I'll start by buying a lottery ticket... or maybe just a helmet.

Moo Shu Pork comes with 4 of these wraps and the delicious dipping sauce.

Chester's Asia consistently provides a world class dining experience. The Opulent dining room plays host to the professional staff and the main event which is the variety of menu items that each exceed your expectations. The owner ensures a friendly greeting and the consistent high quality of dishes being served. The value for the quality of food can't be matched in Ventura County. We choose Chester's when we crave piping hot Spring Rolls, the off-menu favorite, pork wonton in spicy sauce, Szechuan Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Honey Black Pepper Beef, Moo Shoo Pork and Pork with Green Beans. These are among our regular orders but we also come because we know it will be a special date night out where the staff caters to you because they take pride in providing an excellent experience. I also recommend for families. If you're craving a delicious meal, look no further than Chester's.

I absolutely love places that are fully decorated in them and just transform you like you are somewhere else I had not been here in over 10 years and let me say it hit all the way I got the egg drop soup, the lemon chicken and the pork chow mein. Everything was so freaking delicious. They had their little chili oil that they'll give you if you are in the spicy food like me overall great experience, very polite and quick staff full dining experience love it makes you feel like you're somewhere else. Prices are still good

Chester's is hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant in Ventura County! We've been coming here for over 15 years, and I can't believe I've never left a review until now. This isn't just about our most recent visi, it's about years of consistently great Food. The food at Chester's is always top-notch. I've never had a dish I didn't like. Here are a few of my go-to favorites: Honey Walnut Shrimp - perfectly creamy and crispy Sweet and Sour Pork - a classic done right String Beans with Pork - this one's a must; we always order it as a side Sweet and Pungent Shrimp - I get this every single time Orange Chicken - a safe and delicious staple There are plenty more favorites, but those are my core picks. They also have some excellent lunch specials worth checking out. Now, a quick heads-up: the service can be hit or miss. In fact, at times it may feel a bit indifferent, much like many other Chinese restaurants I've been to. Whether it's cultural or just the norm, I've learned not to let it affect my experience. The food more than makes up for it. And on the flip side, I've interacted with the owner a few times and he's always been friendly, welcoming, and genuinely cool. Decorations are great, the owner really takes pride on his decor. Christmas and Chinese year are my favorite! We've tried carry-out, but I wouldn't recommend it if it's your first time. The food doesn't hold up as well after the drive--it loses that fresh-out-the-kitchen crunch. Definitely try dining in first to get the full experience. Cheers!

A kitschy neighborhood Chinese restaurant that serves up yummy food! We enjoyed everything we had! Beef with broccoli, kung pao shrimp, pan fried noodles and yang chow fried rice. The king pao shrimp was not spicy at all, good flavor but not even mind spicy.

Always a great meal! We always order the same thing EVERY TIME, haha. Sweet and pungent shrimp, kung pao chicken and spring rolls. I love their hot tea, it's always strong :)

When I walked in, the woman in the front was actually calling me at that moment to let me know our order was ready. You get an INSANE amount of food for two people with the meal deal. 2 entrees, 2 pc of fried shrimp, 2 pc eggrolls, a large container PACKED with fried rice, and a large container of the most delicious and comforting wonton soup. We got the Family Delight, Kung pao chicken, and We added a third entree so we could try the noodles. The third entree definitely wasn't necessary for just two people we now have leftovers for at least three days. The food was hot, ready when expected, packaged nicely, and delicious! We're so satisfied with this and will definitely be getting the meal for 2 again. I am seriously so surprised at how much they pack food into these containers! They're not stingy with takeout at all!

We ordered takeout since it's conveniently located next to our gym and there was very little wait when they opened at 11:30 am. The food didn't take long to prepare (about 20-25 minutes) and still tasted warm and fresh when it arrived home. The servings are large, but white rice was not included with the entrees. The restaurant is clean and easy to locate in this shopping complex. The staff is very attentive to phone orders, and even prioritized taking a phone order ahead of me, even though I showed up first. Their service is hit and miss, but food is consistently tasty. Much better than ordering from a fast food Chinese restaurant. Give them a shot if you have patience and like freshly cooked Chinese food.

When I was a student here, I often frequented Mom Wong's or Tortillas and they're still here which is incredible. Mom Wong's is very student-friendly prices as well. Each dish pictured here was about $10-12 and the portions are huge! Seriously, if I was still a student here I'd be going here every week because I'd have enough food for three days. Now for the quality of the food... each dish was great. The chow mein, which included chicken and shrimp, was awesome. Seasoned nicely and not too greasy. The orange chicken, which looked and tasted a bit more like sweet and sour chicken (not mad about that!), was also very good and retained its crispiness. The fried rice, which is what my wife ordered, was good, kinda soy sauce heavy but it had a nice flavor overall. (Tbh idk why but I've never been a huge fan of fried rice).

Inside the restaurant, the ambiance is casual. I ordered the Juicy pork dumpling($10.99 ) and Milk tea with boba ($4.49). The dumplings were very juicy and a little sweet. That would be nice if they had some ginger slices and black vinegar for the dumplings. About boba tea, it's good. I prefer the tea to be stronger. Boba tea was warm, which means it's fresh, but needed more ice. They always serve in to-go containers. This place is good for friends, couples, and families. Parking is in front of the restaurant.

I like the house special braised pork belly which is a caramelized and salty meat in a pot. Delicious with copious amounts of white rice. Some of my favorite items to get at this place are: -Stir fried intestines - these are cooked with spices and numbing pepper. The intestines taste like they were deep fried and have a crunch to them. -Mushroom medley - 3 different types of mushrooms in a brown sauce and some type of white meat. -Beef rolls - sliced beef inside a flaky savory pancake with hoisin sauce and cilantro This is a great spot for Hunan-style dishes that have the complex smoky, spicy, and numbing spice flavors.
