Subaru Crosstrek

Bought my 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Premium about a month ago. I think every time you make a big purchase like this, it can be exciting but also stressful. Fortunately, the vibe at Servco Subaru Mapunapuna was not high-pressure, which I know many would appreciate. Servco Subaru has a "no stress, fair pricing" policy. That's great for folks who find negotiating to be nerve-wracking/frustrating (I know at least anecdotally that a lot of people feel this way). If you're used to negotiating, though, it could present a challenge. However, sales consultant Jarrett Miyaguchi and his manager were able to help me via trade-in of my previous vehicle. As I said, I've had my Crosstrek Premium for about a month and I haven't regretted the decision. I like the safety features and the way it drives, especially now that it's been really rainy. Jarrett actually drove out to the Kaimuki lot to get my vehicle for me and stayed late to clean the vehicle, install the all-weather mats, etc. (it was a Saturday so I think the person who would normally do that wasn't there), and go over the basics of the vehicle. I also appreciate that when you test drive at the Mapunapuna location you get to take the vehicles over some hills and briefly merge into traffic. A lot of folks here have mentioned how much they love their Subarus and how they've bought Subarus for many years. It may be helpful to share that that's not how I got to my Crosstrek. I had been driving a Honda for over a decade and it was still running when I traded it in. So Honda proved its reliability if nothing else. If you had asked me at the outset what I'd be getting next, I probably would have said another Honda. But because I test drove several other vehicles (including Honda) , I arrived at an independent decision that the Crosstrek was the vehicle I actually wanted. I believe Jarrett did understand that and did what he could to help get me into the car.

Our salesperson, Ed, was easy to talk to and thorough and he went the extra mile to collect all the things I forgot to take out from my old car so I can pick it up later. He even took us to see where the Service Department is as well as if we had to tow the car during off hours and instructed how to fill out a form, put our keys in it and drop it in the drop off box for the next business day. Highly recommend Servco Subaru.

Hard to recommend a business that has you make reservations for service and then can't work on your vehicle anyway. They need to fix this if they want to keep what's left of their reputation.

Super happy with our BRZ purchase! Our salesman Ryan was professional and communicated with us throughout the buying process! I appreciate that they listened to our concerns then acted quickly to help us. There was one hiccup but Ryan and Joe resolved the issue quickly and professionally. If you need a new or preowned car, I highly recommend Servco Subaru Honolulu!

This is an update to my previous Yelp review about my bad experience with a Subaru Mapunapuna Service Department Service Writer now trying to overcharge me from my first intial quote two weeks ago about changing my Steering Rack. It went from $1,500 first quoted by Service Writer Race Nam to now $1,700 plus by the current Service Writer who took over for Nam. At the end of my previous review the Business Manager texted an apology for my unsatisfactory bad experience with the new service writer and promised to take it up with the General Manager. Just to let you all know, there has been no reply or response from the General Manager to me thus far! Seems like Subaru only does this for all show, but no action!

Buying a car is stressful and during a pandemic even more so. We were in conversation with Pam Wong, one of the Managers of Servco Subaru. She directed us to talk with Dorinda Shimazu. Dorinda was friendly, knowledgeable and not a pushy saleperson. We were shown the vehicles in the lot and determined that we might want to try driving the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek. Much different than before. You give the dealership your Driver License and Insurance and they send you off with the car WITHOUT the salesperson. We got to try driving around Salt Lake area and dealing with traffic. The SUV is different from the car we were used to driving and has so many more bells and whistles. We were pleased with the performance. Come back to the office and deal for the car? We came back and found that it is a fix price, no negotiation process. They give a price and we can choose options. It was nice that they setup pickup of the auto on a different day. They had a chance to wash, and make the car pretty, they also gave us a full tank of gasoline. I have to say that this was one of the most easiest transaction for an automobile. The last transaction I had with my past auto was a Nightmare and I would never go back there. Definitely See Dorinda and she will treat you right.

I did not want to buy a new car in a historically bad time to buy a new car, but I HAD to buy a new car. I had been dreading the process, but lucky for me, I went to Servco Subaru Honolulu in Mapunapuna. Dorinda Shimazu was a rock star throughout the entire process! Dorinda was extremely responsive, knowledgeable and really listened to what I had to say as far as what I was looking for and how to get there. I felt like I had an advocate in my corner who was really invested in helping me get what I needed. As someone who has hated the car buying process in the past, I was very happy to have found Dorinda and the rest of the team at Servco Subaru Honolulu! Best experience ever!

When he showed me the car, we found out we are sports car people and I shared my Porsche Motorsports experiences and photos with him and later, the senior salesperson, Brandon, joined us. After showing me the car, he asked if me and/or my wife wanted to take a test drive. I said I would and that is when the issues began. Mike came back embarrassed as his manager said for this particular car, I would need a "pre-approval" for a simple test drive. I have never heard of such a thing before in my extensive car buying history. I have test driven much more valuable cars by simply showing them my driver's license or less. In the interest of cooperation, I provided my social security number, personal contact info and monthly income. It appears the manager didn't believe me when I gave the income figure and Mike said was that figure monthly or annually. I said monthly and this was questioned several times by going back and forth to the manager, as if he couldn't believe my figures. I informed them that I have an 850 credit score and can easily pull it on my banking app. This score would easily qualify for financing of much higher priced car than this used RS5. Then they asked about my trade in and I informed them to give me a price and trade in value and financing separately. After many more delays, back and forth, and more talk story time and still no test drive nor price, my wife lost patience and went out to our car. I gave it several more minutes and went looking for Brandon and I was standing in front of the manager's desk. Instead of getting off his chair, assisting me, or doing something professional, like finally greeting a potential customer, he just sat behind the desk with a blank stare, so I headed to the front reception area where I encountered Brandon and Mike also walked over. At this point, we were at the dealership for 2.5 HOURS and still without a firm price NOR a test drive. It was like I will buy the car already for an undisclosed price and without a test drive. Or they think I cannot afford to buy and refused a test drive, which is truly laughable, as you never know what someone will or will not buy. I informed them I have to make an overdue business call and my wife and I are highly dissatisfied with the lack of service or basic respect. It's not worth it to me at any price, let alone a car, to have an unpleasant time with the wife over what should be a very happy occasion. It should've been the easiest of transactions as I extensively researched numerous Audis at Audi of Honolulu and on and off island. I happen to have purchased a Porsche and a VW from this dealer (under the Cutter ownership) many years ago and this treatment was downright insulting. I informed Brandon and Mike to contact me if the manager ever got his act together, which I highly doubt, and wished them all the best. It is the manager's fault for losing this simple sale. It's very unfortunate as black is my wife's favorite color, and I was going to make it her surprise birthday gift. I never ever write reviews but this was one of the worst I ever had and do not wish anyone else to experience this.

He is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely cares about making sure you're comfortable and informed every step of the way. He never once made me feel pressured, and instead made the entire process feel easy, smooth, and actually enjoyable. He took the time to answer every question thoroughly and made sure we felt confident in our decision -- which says a lot. I also have to give a huge shoutout to the sales manager, Gi, who was just as phenomenal. You can tell immediately that he runs a great team. He was transparent, professional, and worked with us to make sure everything came together in the best way possible. The level of care and effort from both of them really stood out. This was honestly one of the best car-buying experiences I've ever had. Martin and Gi went above and beyond, and it never felt like just another sale -- it felt like they truly wanted to take care of us. I asked him to give me their best number on a new 2025 Sorento because I don't have time to waste and that number will determine if I buy or not. They didn't listen and so I left to go to Honda. While I was at Honda, Kiet text me that he spoke with his manager and they will agree to my number. I was happy but frustrated because they didn't hear me when I said I don't have time to waste. So I left Honda to extend my rental car another day. Since we wasted so much time, I took my son to grab a late lunch before purchasing the car. After lunch I had the clarity of mind that since I extended my car rental; that I don't have to rush now since I had already rescheduled my viewings with my real estate agent. It was a blessing in disguise because I ended up going to a few more dealerships and landed at Jerry V's just down the street. I told them the same thing I told Kiet. I don't have time, and I asked, if you can give me this SUV for this price out the door, I will buy it right now. The manager came out to speak to me directly and asked if I had any wiggle room. I said no. As a result, I was able to buy my son a brand new 2026 Santa Fe with black leather interior for the same price cash out the door for what I would have paid for on the 2025 Sorento. So lesson for all, not every set back is a bad thing. Kiet is a good salesman as he does follow up, he just needs to work on his listening skills and understanding exactly what a customer needs.

You go to rental transpo, the car rental shuttle driver will tell you, they have never heard of this company.... --- clue 1 your walk to the offsite shuttle will take you to "pre-arranged 4" and then to the center isle to wait for your shuttle. Which comes every 15-30 minutes. While you wait in the heat and humidity, you will be dreaming of an air conditioned shuttle. That will be dashed comely. "Drivers only work for your tips, Venmo and Zelle accepted" ----- clue 3. A company that doesn't even pay its van drivers. Arrival to rental facilities. No ramp, not Ada compliant. Leave roller bags outside, as you go in to pick up your car...As a traveler, traveling along, this makes me feel total sketch. But, hey it's the local way. the lot is all gravel, so not easy to move those roller bags around. Inside, as you are away from your bags, and feeling vulnerable. You explain all the insurance you carry, yet none of them are "good enough". And the feeling that if you do not get "their" insurance, these fools will find anything to bill you for later. They even... take your phone and cancel the prepaid insurance you had. And all the documents are in a different same then the place you "rented" from online. I wonder why, oh cuz the fools have to keep changing their names to run from honest reviews and keep getting tourists to rent cars... clue 4-10 They bring you a car with 115k miles on it. No usb plugs, but a lovely cd player. And you think how the AF am I going to navigate if I cannot "see" or "hear" mapping instructions??? Don't worry they will upsell you in the lot from a 12 yr old car, to a 10yr old car "new car", which btw is not on the list inside when picking out the car... and try to charge you $30 more a day. Which still barely has modern car amenities. Then try to drive that piece of car... turns like a Mac truck, reds an oil change, was not cleaned out, sand on everything, no washer fluid. One highlight- the car looks local and I got waved thru a road where they would gave Gould a tourist to turn around. And maybe your car won't get broken into. This rental experience started wretched, and continued to be the top 5 most worst travel decisions I have ever made. Learn from me. Use real car rental companies. Ultimately I didn't move forward with the purchase, but that was purely a personal preference about the specific car -- not a reflection of Adam or the business at all. I'd feel confident coming back here and would recommend Adam to anyone looking for a no-pressure, genuine car buying experience.

The vehicle has 58,000 miles and was sold to me "as-is." Shortly after purchasing the car, I began experiencing significant vibration during cold starts when the vehicle is placed in gear while stopped. This is not something I would expect from a properly inspected luxury vehicle at this mileage. What concerns me most is the lack of response. I have reached out multiple times to address the issue, but I have not received any reply. Even for an "as-is" vehicle, customers should expect transparency, basic roadworthiness, and communication when problems arise shortly after purchase. I am simply asking for accountability and a response. I will update this review if the dealership chooses to resolve the issue professionally.
