    I would not recommend A1 Auto Hawaii to anyone under any circumstances. I want to specifically highlight the employees Oz (aliases include Masa and Masaharu) and Makana. Avoid this company and those employees at all costs. They are awful to work with. I rented a vehicle here in early October 2021 for a good rate. So far, so good. David, who I worked with, tried to up-sell me on rental car insurance, which I declined because I had adequate coverage through my credit card. Upon returning the vehicle several weeks later, I had accidentally created a small paint chip on the bumper - my fault, and I took responsibility for it. Here's where it got messy. Oz (again, aliases include Masa and Masahara depending on the reviews you read) worked with me, and told me he needed to charge me a fee in order to finish the transaction. I didn't know any better and paid $500 using the same credit card (in retrospect, I should have refused). He told me the rental vehicle would need to go a body shop, get an estimate done, and be repaired. He acted like he was doing me real favor by only charging me $500, and assured me that I would be able to submit the claim to my insurance and get that $500 reimbursed. Since submitting the claim to my insurance company, I have not been able to get the necessary documents from A1 Auto Hawaii to complete my claim to my insurance company to get the $500 fee reimbursed. The communication from A1 Auto Hawaii has been horrible. I have emailed the email address I was given multiple times requesting the relevant documents, with no response. I have texted Oz multiple times, which he typically ignores. The only time he has responded is when I told him I was beginning to get a bad feeling about things and didn't want things to get ugly, or that I was several steps away from taking legal action. The first time we talked, he gave vague promises about getting me the documents, which he never did. He also denied ever receiving my email requesting documents despite it being sent to the correct email address multiple times. Our most recent interaction included him bullying me via text, calling me a "tough guy" and challenging me to call him back after ignoring multiple message (see screenshot). He then left the following voicemail after I ignored his call: "Dan, that's enough with the fucking legal threats already. Give me a fucking call when you get this message, brother. I have been more than responsive to you with the way our company does things, ok? So we've been doing our due diligence, you just have to wait like everybody else, man. So, give me a fucking call when you get this. Thank you so much." The irony is that Oz has not been responsive, communicative, or from my perspective done any due diligence. I suspect my number has been blocked, because when I call the company, it rings once and then beeps, which is a known sign that a number has been blocked. As a last ditch effort, I called yesterday to try to get documentation, and reached an employee who identified himself as Makana. He told me the email address that Oz/Masa/Masaharu has told me was wrong, and to send my request to a different email address - then immediately hung up on me. When I called back, it appeared my number had been blocked. I called using a different phone, got through to Makana, and asked his name. After identifying himself, he belligerently asked who I was, and when I refused to answer, hung up on me. This company is rotten to the core. They have no interest helping the customer and are angry, demeaning, and rude. Use ANYBODY else for your rental and auto purchasing needs.

    RENTS AND SELLS LEMON CARS. SHADY BUSINESS. A-1 STANDS FOR A**HOLE LIKE OWNER JOHN. Booked a rental through Expedia and called the local 808 customer service number since I am also just in Hawaii. Spoke with a man who was extremely rude on the phone and hung up on me. I called again to complain to a manager and was told I spoke with the owner named John. Employee I spoke to said that he is rude to customers. No aloha at this location, and I'm surprised they're still in business with an F rating and 50 open complaints on Better Business Bureau and 1 star ratings on both Yelp and Google businesses. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE.

    Ambience. D Service. C (service is hit and miss- some Nice - some not) Price. B 3 miles from airport. Ride an Economy shuttle. Call them and let them know you're at the airport. Office is dated and old. Rep. Was friendly, however, Server was down when checking in. It took 25 mins. Before waiting for server to come on( which never did) then filling out manually paperwork, then walk around car which rep said it was okay not to write down all the scratches and scrapes on car. what? So I took a video with him stating it was okay not to write down all the issues. The car had over 52k miles and seats were cloth and heavily stained. I might consider the rental cars in the airport next time. //// 11/11/17 Returned car today, for some reason it was difficult using the gps and I got lost and ended having to rush when getting to returns. So I arrived at 8:45. Checkin car was prepaid so just filled up and returned car. I was surprised that the shuttle driver became very upset with me showing up after 8:30 as he began telling me he already did the last run. He was doing overtime and also had to wake up early and had to drive 45 mins to get home! I just let him vent. By time we got to airport, he out bags curbside and I went ahead and tipped $5. Would I use this company for rental. I'll definitely say no! Try using the car rentals located directly located in the airport. Not a fan!

    Ok took 3 calls finally got Simone won't hangup on me.. Tell me I can buy new wipers n bring in receipts n part upon rental return to get refund.. Wow I don't feel safe renting old cars from this location ever...

    This business deserves ZERO stars. My experience parallels those of 30 yelpers Below. Here is my quick summary: 1. Remote, 3.2 mile location from the airport; 2. Old banged-up vehicles that didn't make on its used, adjacent sales lot; 3. No Customer Service area -- just a wooden old barrack (see pics); 4. Slow shuttle service to/from the airport. Waited 30-mins for one to depart. When complained I was told that this's my fault for not allowing enough time prior to the flight's departure (3:15 hrs prior); 5. Rude pushy ghetto service; 6. Nickel and dime-over-gas. Returned the car on Full with the arrow SLIGHTLY below the Max bar. I was told to go back to the gas station and put another $.89 (yes, cents !!!!) or pay $10 penalty fee. The worse of all car renting experiences of my lifetime.

    When booking.. TOTAL was $116. But at the counter, they charged me $195.77!!!!!
