Servatii's from Cincinnati

Amazing donuts that my customer picked up today because he lives in Cincinnati and commutes every day to Dayton. Worth it (for me) because they were insanely good. Yeah, I broke my keto just a little bit. Fortunately, there was a knife here and so I was able to cut off a thin slice of the one at the top center that was had a chocolate cinnamon filling. Delicious. Oh, and the chocolate frosted? Another small piece of that. Light, fluffy and extremely sweet. Delicious. I heard other good things from others in the room including that chocolate one that was filled with my favorite, custard. Great stuff from Servatii! [Review 11322 overall, 1099 of 2019.]

This location is so much more than just a bakery. It is huge and spacious with tons of seating. They keep it very clean. There is a pastry, cookie, cake, bread, and deli counter. There is also a fridge with take home faves such as bier cheese! I had visited before to get some cream puffs, but recently finally made it early enough that the deli was still open. They had a current seasonal special of a goetta reuben. I made it a meal and chose corn chowder as my side. It also came with a pretzel stick, pickle, drink, and cookies. What a great deal for $6.75. I ate half and was full! The sandwich was a superb take on the reuben... goetta was pefectly done. The soup was rich and quite the treat. Best corn chowder ive had in a long time. Of course they excel at the pretzel. The pickle and cookies were good too. I got some cream puffs to go and those are always a seasonal fall fave. I cant forget to mention how accommodating and friendly the staff service was! When I had to go back up and ask for a to go box for my left overs, the guy behind the counter even made sure to give me wrap so I could keep the sandwich and pickle separate. Anytime I am down this way early enough I will be stopping by for lunch!

Good service I actually went to the one in Newtown/marimont .. new location I was excited they served breakfast coffee was good so that was a plus not a bad place to sit and snack early or late ...

Quiche Lorraine (comes with a little cup of 3 tea cookies!).

I have eaten here twice in the past two days. It was my self-proclaimed Mental Health weekend, and it was MUCH needed. The cold, gray roller-coaster weather, balancing work, carpooling etc. can just leave one burned out - so when I want comfort carbs, Servatii is a stellar way to go! I had a quick lunch at this location, and it was so calm and quiet and relaxing. I splurged calorically and ate every bite of a ham and cheese melt on a toasted pretzel bun, with a cheese danish for dessert. DELICIOUS AND AFFORDABLE, real stick-to-your-ribs comfort food. That cheese danish is soooo, soooo good, not too sweet, with the flakiest, most buttery soft and tender pastry! This AM I had errands to do with my kiddo and I wanted something cheaper & more convenient than a sit-down restaurant but more home-style and cozy than Panera or fast food. I landed back at this Servatii and had a beautiful slice of savory Quiche Lorraine and a frosted cinnamon roll (they will microwave it for you upon request so that it will be warm and gooey). The quiche came with a little fruit cup, tomato/lettuce garnish and 3 tea cookies. ALL FOR LESS THAN $7! I lovelovelove tea room-style food (e.g., quiche, tarts, pastries, finger sandwiches), but I don't want to deal with making a minimum-headcount reservation OR paying $50 for a tea luncheon. I think what I really like about Servatii is how delicious and pretty and appealing their food is, but for such affordable EVERY DAY prices!

Everything is good!

Can I tell you what sets this place apart from all the other Servatii's? Malia Malia Malia!!! Downtown you can get the same cute cupcakes. They all have the cakes and pretzel sandwiches. Every Servatii's sells the same ready to go protein salad but not every location has Malia. You have to go to Eight Mile and there she is - back in the kitchen - the woman can cook! Worship the catering goddess Malia.

Servatii's is a classic local pastry and deli chain. They are famous for their cookies and pasties but also offer deli selections. I had never been to this particular location until the other day. They had fresh bagels, donuts, pretzels, and pastries ready for the eating! I tried one of their lime cheesecakes an it was melt in your mouth delicious, literally. The cheesecake part was so creamy and soft. The deli section serves sandwiches and stuff, but that's not why I go to Servatii's. The fun is in the sweets! At this location there were a few tables with some elders playing card games. I thought that was so cute! It's nice that they have a comfy place to come to play cards!

Servatii has a great selection and this location even has a nice sit down area and deli. We came right after stopiing by Busken Bakery so I did not go as crazy as I usually would have. They have way more than Donuts, Cakes, every pasty imaginable, it took awhile to take it all in. I just bought the staples I could not leave without and while it was all very good I preferred Busken up the street. It really depends on what you are in the mood for, Servatii is a bit more high end with a larger selection, Busken more home made just straight GOOD! I would say do the same as I did and go to both!

Two Seven Two

Incredible! After a rainy but successful trip to the season's last Hyde Park farmer market, we…read moredecided to check out one of the bakeries on my "want to try" list: Two Seven Two, in Clifton. I'm so glad we did! It was amazing. The shop is quite small and bustling on a Sunday morning. The baked goods are displayed mouthwateringly behind glass, nicely labeled. I do not think it would be possible to leave with just one item -- so many delicious-looking sweet and savory options, and so well crafted. We choose a pecan sticky bun (the last one in the case - ha! Sorry, people behind us, you didn't get to experience that caramelly flavor with the salt flake zings!), a s'mores morning bun (the delicate chocolate filling didn't over power and the whipped creamy topping were perfect) an apricot shortbread cookie (literally melts in your mouth!), and a kimchi danish (not me - my daughter picked that one and loved it). They were all superb, worth having a conversation about! We also had drinks - iced vanilla latte and a seasonal apple cider with cold foam -- also very tasty. There were a couple of tables inside, a couple outside. It's a popular place so consider yourself lucky if you snag a spot. We took ours to go, walking past a line of folks waiting their turn to drool at the glass. We ordered inside, got our pastries boxed up, then went outside to wait for our drinks to be delivered by the barista through a handy sidewalk-facing window. Street parking available and a lot nearby but I'm not sure if it's a public lot. We parked on the street right out front.

One of my joys while on vacation is to visit local bakeries and try a variety of baked goods…read more The Cincinnati zoo is close by and they allow outside food and drinks. As such, we stopped by on a Thursday morning to pick up a few pastries for our zoo visit. We went with the basics, croissant and pain au chocolate. Both items were fresh, buttery, and flakey. We inhaled them. There were a few other notable items that I would love to return and try: peach jam and fig leaf pastry cream bun and burnt honey Swiss with peach jam shortbread.
