My kids and I love this park. A few years back I took my son here, but at the time the water splash pad was not on. They have a big splash pad area, swings, toddler swings along with a toddler playground and sand area. The big playground is huge. It has a ship kinda design to it. What I love about this park is there's a lot of shade from the trees, big huge grass area, tennis courts, benches and a small "river/creek" that kids can go in and get wet in as well. Both my kids loved it and didn't want to leave. They have two different parking lots along with street parking. This park is awesome especially for those hot summer days! read more

If you have little ones who love the water, this place is your next spot for adventure. The man-made creek that meanders throughout the park was a huge hit with my troop (9, 7 and 4). They all had fun exploring through the creek. We had brought a craft to make our own boats and then launched them in the water. And all of that area is under the trees so it's nice and shady. There is also a splash pad for those who enjoy that next to the playground. We brought snacks and a picnic lunch so we could enjoy several hours here. The park is free, the bathrooms were clean and there was plenty of parking. We were here during the week so I'm not sure what it's like on the weekends. There's also lots of grassy fields. This is a lovely park in the middle of a residential area. There's a fountain, a stream that runs from one end of the park to the other, two playgrounds (one for younger kids and the other for older kids), a water play area, large green fields, a whole lot of seating and picnic areas, and a lot of shade. This is a definite go to park if you're in the area. We'll surely be visiting this place again with our family! read more

Came here to see if I could get a tennis court to practice my serve with newly restrung rackets. Got here at 7:05am on a Friday, and both courts in the south were taken, along with the two courts in the north. The courts in the south are far superior, very clean, with few cracks, and decent nets, but no partition between the courts. The courts in the north are full of cracks, under the shadows of adjacent trees, and full of water stains. Haven't tried playing at night under the lights here, as when you get as old as I do, the night vision of a moving target goes south. The park is pretty, with good landscaping, a baseball field, and a child's playground, complete with tube and tunnel slides. Due to the drought, the pond has been emptied, taking away a lot of the beauty of the adjacent landscape and gardens. Even the two spacious paved parking lots are landscaped. This is one of the few public tennis courts that don't have tennis classes or tennis camps sponsored by the City. Six court Mango is such a tennis court area. Now with school reopening, Fremont High School in Sunnyvale has six clean tennis courts available for public use. No partitions however. The drought has prevented the City from washing the courts in a timely manner. The locals play here at Serra Park every morning, ignoring the signs of court cleaning every Friday morning! read more

This park has so much to offer! Where do I start? There's a large play structure and a gated play area for toddlers with a water area off on one side of the park. The swings by the play structure swing high for the big kids. The large boulder looking structure is fun to climb and the slide is HUGE! The gated toddler section has 2 baby swings and a small play area with sand. The kids enjoy both areas very much. I'm not sure how often the play structures are sanitized but there are working bathrooms to wash your hands after. The bathrooms are dim and you won't always find toilet paper so come prepared. I have seen homeless men enter the Women's bathroom so be aware of your surroundings inside the bathroom. As you walk more into the park there's another play structure directly under the sun that has a jungle gym and two slides. I'm not a huge fan of this structure because the sun hits it and it can be hot to the touch depending on the weather. There's 4 tennis courts. I've seen an instructor teaching kids tennis here. It's a 1 hour play time per group but it doesn't look like people get out after an hour. There's several tables that can be reserved for outdoor parties etc. Each space can hold a certain amount of people up to 90 people. I reserved one for my little ones birthday and it was absolutely marvelous. When I arrived there was a large group of people playing chess/checkers and they did not want to move. They told me to wait that they were almost done playing their game. Extremely inconsiderate and rude. The rest of the park is perfect for walks. It's shaded by these large trees which makes for a cool walk on a sunny day. On a windy day it's very cold. People tend to walk on the opposite side of the way their supposed to walk and act like your blocking them. There's two large spacious area of grass. My most recent visit a group of high schoolers set up their volleyball nets right next to the area my group was resting at. Mind you they had this large space of grass but they actively chose to set up their nets right next to us. Sure enough the ball hit our way hitting one of the toddlers in my group in the stomach. We let them know they had all the grass space and chose to set up right next to us and hurt our kid. They entire group stayed quiet. The park itself is a beautiful space for the kids to play at, picnics, outdoor parties, relaxing, etc. Most dogs are on leashes at this park. There's two parking areas. If you are walking to this park be aware of the traffic turning left from Alberta to Hollenbeck as the drivers will not wait for your feet to touch the crosswalk. Many times I'm barely about to hit the sidewalk and the cars are zooming behind me. It's unfortunate that this beautiful space can be ruined by such rude and inconsiderate people who frequent here. read more

This is one of my favorite part to take my kids. There's two main play structures next to each other, with the baby/toddler playground enclosed with a sand pit. There's also a water structure that gets turned on in the summers. Across the field there is another older play structure. The park itself is huge, with two large lawn areas-- there's a really nice path around one of them which is great for a stroller stroll or for kids to bike on. Most of the park is well shaded which is nice for hot summer days. There are tons of picnic tables in the shaded area as well, along what I presume is a creek if there is a lot of rain. Also a bunch of benches all over the park. There are two bathrooms, one on each side of the park-- the one next to the northern parking lot has changing tables. This was a very lovely park. My friends had their baby's first birthday here and I was glad we got a chance to visit. Pros: Spacious -- plenty of green space and combination of shaded and sunny spots. The shade is pretty useful being in Sunnyvale which can be pretty hot in the summer Multi-use. The gated infant play area has some rubber flooring, sand area, climbing gym structure with a little bouldering area and a pair of slides. The kids love this park. The steamboat slide and sand area are favorites. Sometimes there are teenagers milling about with their cell phones trying to be cool but they look like fools. We brought our scooters and ride around the rec area too. I wish the water in the pond and creek was working but no big deal. Watch your food or a squirrel will steal it! read more

As far as I know, it's one of the biggest park in the area. There are some tennis courts and a large picnic area surround by waters in the summer. The children playground is cool too. The tall slide is definitely its signature. There's plenty of grassland for all sorts of sports or activities too. It's one of the best place to relax in the area. read more

My volleyball group flocks to this place most weekends. It is a park that is big enough to hold multiple-sport activities all at one time. Serra Park, despite the not-so-easy-to-find location especially if you don't live nearby, is very promising. Parking is right along Hollenbeck, for the near-tennis courts and by The Dalles for the rest. Parking along the street can be ample on most weekend but when spring starts, better get here before 11 AM if you want a more accessible parking spot. At certain times of the year, the Sunnyvale Parks do get some maintenance and they really do some great job on keeping the grass lush and clean! Playing barefoot in here has never gotten my feet muddy or dirty. The grass is thick and I believe I have never seen any bald spots. The bathroom is also pretty accessible AND there're TWO ! One is by the tennis court and the other near the field, right by the soccer area. Not only have I played volleyball in Serra Park but I have attended parties and potlucks here. The tables can either be reservable (very affordable) or first-come-first-served. Lots of trash bins as well. 5 stars. No less. read more

I used to do park time with an ex-friend of mine. While we only visited Serra once, we were incredibly impressed with the gorgeous shady trees, the space, and yes, the bathrooms! We always meant to go back, but ended up no longer being hang out buddies soon after, so I never made a second trip. While a big fav of mine was the local Willow Glen park, Serra was up there if not more scenic, quieter on a weekend day, and generally just better laid out than Willow Glen. I doubt I'll ever make another trip, but I definitely would recommend this as a fantastic book reading shady tree space for anyone local! read more

Came here with my dog for the first time today after having driven by here many times for years. It was a surprisingly large park with several different sections to it. There's two separate playgrounds for the kids, two sets of tennis courts (four courts total), a picnic/BBQ section, two baseball fields (which had signs saying they were "closed") and lots and lots of grass area for sports. This place seems like a hot spot on weekends, as there were people playing volleyball, people in the tennis courts, people playing soccer, and lots of lots of parents with their kids on the playgrounds. Yet, in spite of the busyness, there was ample parking here. I saw 3 different lots on different sides of the park, though the one on the east side facing Hollenbeck seems to be the main one. Overall, Serra is a nice big park that's great for group sports and socializing, but it seemed a bit crowded and it was definitely very loud for the typical park. read more

Nice park with a separate toddler play area right adjacent to the bigger kids play area. We spent more of our time in the toddler one where there are 2 swings, a small rock structure to climb, and one play structure having a double slide. It was fine for our ittle one. We did partake in the bigger one too as my wife took the toddler down the big tube slide. That's a good one! It also has a big rock to climb and it was fun watching little kids climb it. They are fearless and natural climbers. All the kids were playing nicely, and it wasn't overcrowded on a sunny saturday afternoon. Worth a stop if you're in the area read more

It's a good park, and very large. There is a large play structure for kids, including one for toddlers and infants, and a separate play structure for smaller kids as well. The park has a lot of grass, which is sufficient for playing games of volleyball, soccer, other sports, or just running around. There is a lot of foliage in the park, especially around the middle area which has a walking path and many picnic tables and BBQ grills. When the water is running, it fills up a small but pretty river with rocks in it that spans for much of the park, which ends at a small pond area. Overall, the park is a great place for people of many ages, whether you are having fun with your friends, taking your kid out for them to play, or having a picnic with your loved ones. read more

The people that come hang out here to take walks or exercise are friendly and always have big smiles on their faces. There's a water feature that's cool on hot days. There's a creek that runs through it, though the no wading signs are annoying. The lagoon is cool and one can play pirates or some such thing. I like that it has enough play structure to be enticing, but also some more open space with trees, creek, grass, etc so that a kid's imagination can take over. Review #2- 1 1/2 stars Weekends, holidays, summer, etc. Considered having my 4 year olds b-day party here. Difficult to reserve space if not a sunnyvale resident, also very expensive. Not so much so, however, to discourage everyone under the sun from reserving space for a birthday party. They host little league games. They allow those big air compressed jumpy houses. This quaint little old school park transforms into an over stimulating multi-sensory annoyance with the fly b alls and crowds of spectators, and screaming brothday parties with people yelling over the deafening noise of the air compressors. read more

This park is really, really nice! Bright, trimmed, green grass and large areas to run. They have two parking lots I think, and street/neighborhood parking. But usually gets filled up durink the weekend. Each picnic reserved spot has one small BBQ pit. They even have a river going along the park. It's pretty inconvenient having to walk all the way around to get to the other side if you don't want to walk through the river. There were actually a lot of kids and a few adults walking barefoot in the river, which I thought was totally disgusting and unsanitary. Enough room for a jumphouse by your BBQ area. Ice cream men and trucks frequent this area too. They also have tennis courts here. I've only seen one bathroom each for men and women. The women has two stalls and is as clean as you can get for a public bathroom in the park. Pet friendly! Kid friendly! read more

Surprisingly large and lush park! Took my afterschool kiddos here on Friday since school was out and I had them the full day- went by around 10:15 and stayed til 12:30. There are two play structures, tennis courts, and trails, but we mostly stuck to the large grassy area and shaded picnic tables- perfect for eating snacks and playing kickball, tag, etc. Took some balls, hula hoops, and bean bags with us to create some impromptu relay-style games when the kids got tired of just chasing one another around, but they clearly could have spent more time there. Great little wooded area, plentiful parking, and there's even a back entrance by the neighborhood that may be a little more convenient if you're just there for trails/walking. Would return again, wish i had a dog to walk here- didn't notice poop bag stations though, so take some with you! There are multiple bathroom facilities, and one was closed so definitely don't wait until the last minute to rush over! read more

What a great park! I wish I had photos to help describe how sweet and magical this park experience was for us - but the truth is, the appeal of the park is its sprawling-ness. There's plenty of shade trees hovering over a meandering path that takes you around various amenities to the park - be it an older play structure, enclosed toddler area, bright green grassy fields or a steamboat themed play area. I'm forever on the quest to find the best park/playgrounds around and this one was definitely one of the prettiest. read more

I went to Serra Park as a kid in the 60's and remember the large boat. I was so glad going back recently that although they have modernized the boat they kept the basic theme. I love the stream as it gives kids a chance to interact with water like we used to do in the old days at Steven's Creek (but you can't anymore). I love the big park where my son learned to play soccer with Kid's Love Soccer. I recently went to a bbq and picnic there with friends. The area is also great for small rc planes. It's a wonderful park and speaking for my family, for 2 generations it's been fun!!! I've added some photos. read more

Went to this park in Jan. 2011 and the boat at the play area is under construction. It is going to be replaced with a new boat by July 2011. There was only 1 baby/toddler swing, the other swings were taken down. There is only 1 very small play structure with 1 slide, meant for toddlers and younger. The play structure is set in a circle of sanded area. There was another sand pit, but it had a construction cone in the middle of it indicating not to play there. So basically this play area of the park is being repaired and I wouldn't recommend going there unless you have a small toddler that doesn't need a lot to entertain them. There is a paved walking trail that goes around the park though. There's lots of grass, shaded picnic area, tennis courts, a creek (which was dry when we went) and the bathrooms are right by the play area. read more

I love Serra Park. I used to always go here when I was a kid and play on the swingset. I still come here from time to time, since i live like a 5 min. walk from this place. This park has two playgrounds, and I think like, 4 tennis courts. Bathrooms are pretty clean too. It's soo green here, lots of space. People often come here to play volleyball, tag, frisbee, for barbeques and parties and get-togethers, etc. There's also a little river stream somewhere around here too. It's really peaceful here, I like reading here and all that. It's a nice place to walk around with friends too. There's a little area in the back where a lot of skaters come too, if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, it's a great park to take your kids if you have any! read more

My go to place for tennis these days. We usually land there without booking any of the courts simply because we're too lazy to actually figure out how to book the tennis courts. The courts themselves are well maintained and you usually find a spot within 15-20 mins of waiting. Wish folks actually used the timers to show how long they were playing. The rest of the park is pretty neat too. The parking lot could be a bit bigger - usually full in the evenings, so need to hunt for some spots across the road. read more

NOT bad :) THis is my first time using the park today as I pick up my daughter from a bbq. THe park is spacious but parking is limited. The picnic tables were strategically placed under some trees. There were two groups playing volleyball and they had plenty of space AWAY from each other. On the other side, a large group of soccer players were practicing. What a wonderful sight to witness, the community using its common space and making it safe. While waiting for my daughter, I sense a local ownership with the moms and grandparents walking about. I would come back here to run or have a picnic anytime. read more

This is a pretty nice park. The tennis courts, grassy areas, and picnic areas seem very well-maintained, and all the dogs walking their owners through the park seem pretty happy to be there. I walk my dog here because there's a nice redwood grove that makes it feel like you're on a hike. Almost. There a nice loop that good around the grass area and it seems to be quite popular with runners and walkers. I only wish there was a dog park section, that would be perfect. Weekends seem to be very popular with BBQ and picnics so come early if you want a table or grill. read more
