I used to come to Las Palmas Park to play with my nieces when I lived in Sunnyvale back in the 90's. I don't recall the Easter Island statues were installed. I remember Las Palmas Park gave me plenty of memories, like my former coworker got married at the park and had a reception at the community center. My parents brought me to attend holiday parties. I brought my dog GoGo 狗狗 to play after school. I still don't know why it's called Las Palmas. I don't see palm trees.

Can't hate on Las Palmas park . Been going here since I was a little girl . Used to live right across the street . The park is clean and has everything you need for a fun day out at the park. Kid friendly with multiple playgrounds and dog friendly with a small and large dog park.

One of my favorite park discoveries in recent times. It's pretty big, there are several tennis courts and a big lawn and play structures. There are 3 things that made the trip stand out from the ordinary. a) They have replicas of the Easter Island Moai which was totally random and awesome. b) There are so many parakeets at this park! They were so loud and I could have spent a long time just observing them. I had no idea that Sunnyvale was a bird sanctuary. c) Finally and the best part...it is raining lightly when I was there and I saw a lot of people looking up at the sky. When I looked up, I saw the most amazing rainbow and I got a wonderful shot of it.

This tiki themed park was great for enjoying a picnic on a beautiful Monday afternoon, with a good amount of tables and seating and plenty of shaded area. They have 16 tennis courts, but what's even more awesome, my bf and I were able to take advantage of the rarer pickleball courts, which can be reserved for a small fee through Lifetime Activities' online website. The pond is all dried up and nonexistent, but numerous tall and gorgeous palm trees reach for the sky, retaining the park's unique beauty (and I floated the idea of how the former pond area could be used for skating... maybe next time!?!). A couple playgrounds are situated at the center of the park in a good-sized sandbox setting. There's also a baseball field, a large dog park, a grassy meadow, and tons of greenery all around. Beautiful, clean, and well-maintained park, with a restroom and multiple parking lots for convenience... not much more I could ask for.

9:20am, just finished watching Andrew Cuomo's daily TV address. Wife and I get our morning's exercise walking 40 minutes through the beautiful tree lined neighborhoods of south central Sunnyvale, right in the center of silicon valley. We walk one block from our house in a residential neighborhood, through a pedestrian corridor to reach Las Palmas park, 18+ acres the second largest park in the city. The houses on both sides of the pedestrian corridor were built in 1995 replacing the cherry orchards. Houses on other sides of the park were built in 1966, when chip and mainframe computer industries were developing. Huge open area of freshly cut grassy fields, intersected by pedestrian sidewalks, surrounded on three sides by residential homes, and on the 4th side by Sunnyvale Tennis Center's 16 lighted pay to play tennis courts. Signs at the entrances to the park: "Physical distancing required. Maintain a distance of 6 feet apart. Do not congregate in groups. Parks for passive use only. No team sports or pickup games. Stay home if you don't feel well". The kids playground is closed, the dog park is closed, the baseball field closed, and the tennis courts are closed, all since the March 17 announcement by Santa Clara county to shelter in place. Some people sitting at the picnic tables under the trees, while others walk their dogs. No picnicking in groups. Got to watch your step on the grass when going around people, to maintain the 6 feet social distance , as some dog owners don't pick up after their pets. Lots of people like myself running or jogging on the mile in circumference streets and concrete pathways surrounding the park. Public bathrooms closed, forcing the homeless to go elsewhere. No RVs nor campers allowed to park overnight in the parking lots, nor on the streets surrounding the park. We are so close to the park that on garbage collection day, people dump their trash from picnics in the park into our bins, when the park bins are overflowing. They put their plastics in my recycling bins, not knowing that only plastic bottles are recyclable, not plastic packaging. Guess who has to tip the bin over and dig down to pick out the plastic packaging? And with some cop car coming around the corner thinking I'm stealing. Waiting until today to do a review of the place. City Park & Recreation open for lawn mowing, but not barbers. Only recently has the grass been cut. Apparently cutting the lawns more essential than cutting my hair.

Las Palmas Park in Sunnyvale is a beautiful park with green grassy fields for walking or playing volleyball, including big and little dog park, picnic party area and pretty Polynesian themed park. According to a review on Tripadvisor, "There is lots to do here including a dog park, playground, tennis courts, places to play, and places to walk. Large park in the middle of Sunnyvale, with spacious grounds here so lots of people can come play in the park

Amazing hidden gem. SV maintains the park very clean. Playground, sandy volleyball court, water…read morespray area, tennis court, horseshoe court. Highly recommend.

They renovated the playground area. It's much nicer than before. it has swings, slides, climbing…read morestructures (even a rope one!) and a spinning platform. The little kids enjoy the frog that sprays water. There is a public restroom next to the playground so you don't have to drag the little ones too far to use it. The rest of the park has some reservable picnic table areas with BBQs. You'll find 2 tennis courts way in the back, and also a horseshoe pit. Sometimes you'll see people playing volleyball at the sand volleyball court. There is a path that makes a loop around the park. People like to use it to walk or run laps. There is a pond that used to be filled with an unnatural blue color water. This would attract Candadian Geese to the park and they made a big mess pooping all over the park. There was a time when it got so bad that you could not safely stroll along the walkway without running into geese poop. Trying to avoid these land mines is not a fun way to enjoy the park. They've since turned off the water features and the geese no longer plague the park. The park is definitely much cleaner now. There is a small parking lot by the playground and also street parking along the street that leads up to the parking lot. The parking lot dead ends, but they have designed a roundish area at the end -- this area is not designated for parking in -- at the end to help you make a u-turn to drive back out. Sometimes it is difficult to make this u-turn when people park in this area. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=a3c15emWpHiehs81jdgHHw&userid=isQotFiKU_S_TI4Qt4MtMQ https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=7OFU_4ZnZNDS9b1LMP3QtQ&userid=isQotFiKU_S_TI4Qt4MtMQ https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rxdAa2RDw46kCSADO9H7hQ&userid=isQotFiKU_S_TI4Qt4MtMQ .
