Great playground. There's one big one, a small one next to it and an older one close by. Street parking and bathrooms are available. The huge slide has no ladder. You need to climb ropes to get to the top. The kids were a little scared at first but they all ended up going to the top. The age range was 3-6. They're adding lighting to the park so there are some open ditches with are closed off. I was worried the kids ball would end up in there. Over all great playground! read more

We recently discovered this hidden gem and it has since become one of our girls (6 & 8) favorite parks. There are play structures for the big kids and little kids in addition to lots of swings. Also there is a lot of open grassy space throughout the park area. There are a number of picnic tables, BBQ grills, tennis courts and a bathroom. It is clean and well maintained. There is lots of parking on the street surrounding the park. In all of our visits it has never been overly crowded. This park has a lot to offer and is a great place for some fun family time! read more

Great spot for outdoor gatherings. We threw a baby shower for roughly 20 people with kids. No reservations so you'll want to show up early to grab your preferred spot. We were there at 9am-ish on a Saturday right before full opening of CA. Open space, good shade, clean playground. Even a nice pathway for a bunch of adults to embarrass themselves falling off an electric unicycle. Parking was also pretty easy on a Saturday morning pre opening of CA, but looks like it should still be ok after. Great park. Would come again read more

Pretty park! I have a friend who happens to live just across from this park and, although I have been many places to her house to pick her up to go out, I never really paid attention to this park. I did, though, last Sunday and found it is bigger than you can see at a quick glimpse. I like the old school type of metal benches with lots of ornaments and found quite unique that some trees are also wrapped with that metal decor. Lots of space to walk, run, have a picnic, a BBQ and there as restrooms too. Looks like the ideal park for a neighborhood, where the locals can have a good time. I like the beautiful tree, the colors are impressive now during Fall! read more

The overall park is very nice, this review mainly concerns the tennis courts and the people that use them. A lot of rude people here who will try to cut you in line or lie about how long they've been playing. City rules posted on the entrance say players have 1 hour of court time; prepare to get dirty looks if you to try to enforce it. Daily lessons during the week go from 3 - 8 PM on the 2 courts closest to the street, so it does get crowded here with only 2 courts available most of the time (out of 4 total). The other day, I arrived well before lessons ended and left my racquet inside the entrance to signal my spot in line while I hit at the wall on the other side of the courts. When lessons finished and I came back over, someone else had moved my racquet outside to the ground and tried to take the court I was first in line for; those are the kind of people you'll have to deal with here. read more

Park feels like it was abandoned by the City. The grass is in bad shape, it hasn't been mowed or watered for quite sometime, lots of brown spots. The small sand area is pretty dirty, leafs, branch, debris, I wouldn't recommend kids playing in it. There is 3 play structure which is pretty outdated surrounded by wood chip. Toddler play area is a good size but play structure is quite small, a lot of waste of space. The concrete around the picnic bench needs to be pressure wash, very dirty. Street parking only, if you park near school, there is no parking sign during certain time frame. Park really needs to be renovated. read more

A real neighborhood park! There are so many different playgrounds, which the children love. Plenty of grills for BBQs, tons of green grass, tennis courts and basketball courts - there's even a trail nearby for jogging. Murdock has everything you could ask for from a park! read more

Kids birthday parties are so expensive these days. They're either at those jumpy house things like Pump It Up or Bouncerama or pizza places like John's Incredible. While those places are cool, sometimes you want to invite more people, but don't want to pay some crazy fee for going over your limit. Enter Murdock Park. Having birthday parties here is a little bit cheaper than having it at one of those places I mentioned above. And there's more freedom. For instance, there is a charge to reserve the park. But, the beauty is that you don't have to get there at 4am to make sure you get the spot. It's automatically yours for the WHOLE DAY (there is a little stipulation though that someone has to post a sign at 8am and then someone has to always be there starting at 10am. With us, that's not a big deal, because someone will be cleaning and decorating early anyway). Next, there are 6 tables under the gazebo and 1 more near the grill. We don't use the grill (more on that later), so we use the table for the gifts. Another positive is that it's next to both playgrounds AND the bathroom. We usually have games for the kids, but for the other ones that are done, or don't want to play, they can go in one of the playgrounds or play some sports in the grass area. As I mentioned, we don't usually use the grill. We usually just order trays of Chinese food and/or pizza and call it a day. Since we are able to invite other people, it's cheaper just to do that. Especially if someone in your party can pick up the Costco pizzas (can't beat $10 pizzas!). As for desserts, our winner cake is the Tres Leches at Safeway. Seriously, a half-sheet cake is only about $40. And, the cake is awesome! The next time you want to have a birthday party some place different, book this park. It's a nice park, with amenities close by, and tons of parking. read more

This is a nice place to play tennis. The courts are well maintained and lighted for evening play. One the weekends it can get kind of busy, but during the week in the evening, I can usually get a court to play on. I just recently began playing tennis again, so it is nice to have this free option to play tennis at, to get my game back together. read more

Park is located in a quiet neighborhood. Lots of shade which is great for the summer. It's very well maintained. One thing that has not been mentioned above is that they have a large BBQ pit which is about 5 x 4 ft long which comes in handy for large BBQ parties. read more

What an excellent neighborhood park. There are two play structure areas, a couple of BBQ grills, but plenty of picnic tables some shaded and some under the sun. There is sand for the kids to play with, swings and slides for them to release all that excess energy and best of all, pretty clean bathrooms when you need to use them. This is the best park playground on San Jose's west side for so many reasons: -it's shady -has two nice picnic areas (one covered) -three play structure areas for three different age levels -clean new bathrooms (had to replace the one that burned down a few years ago) -some sand -big open fields for frisbee or a little game of soccer -some paths for kids to ride bides on and it also connects with a bike path that's along Lawrence Expwy. -tennis courts -quiet neighborhood / easy to park It's a great place for kids' birthday parties or barbeques, but you can't reserve it, so you have to send someone out pretty early in the morning to hold the place. read more

This park has everything- shade, sun, picnic areas, open fields, tennis courts, bike paths, and play areas. I have never had any problem with the neighbors. The toddler playground (closest to the street) is showing some wear, but the other playground is newer-looking and has some great features that you don't find in many parks. Agree with the other reviewer that this is a great place to have a party, but get there early as you can't make reservations. There are no BBQs in the trellis area and the giant pit BBQ in the other picnic area does not work very well (some of the equipment is bent). Rest of the BBQ's are in good working order. read more

This is my favorite park. It is in my neighborhood and I am very proud of it. Very good for kids. Always plenty of space for parking. Most of all I enjoy to play tennis against the wall. They are so many parks around but I didn't see that kind of wall to practice Tennis. I definitely advise to visit our park read more

Its one of the best park around this area.. I love the tennis courts there as well children park. The streets are not that crowded.

Nice park near the end of a street with little traffic. Lighted tennis courts are a plus. The trails run parallel to Lawrence Expressway which conveniently connect the park directly to Prospect Road and Bollinger Road. read more
