The sun was setting, my bride was shimmering, and our evening at Sermet's was glistening like my forehead in the summer SC humidity. Weekends on the patio means live music all night, and tonight's acoustic guitar selections were lovely. There were some local draft choices that sounded interesting, so I went in that direction while my wife was deciding how many mussels she'd order. I tried to talk her into two plate, but she has more restraint than me in that arena. The lemon curry creme on those mussels wafts through the entire establishment, and clearly there were many others with the same idea. The smell makes it double-good! Their menu is simple yet complex. How is that even possible? It just is. Envision hanging out in a sailboat around the Tyrrhenian Sea (of course I can find that on a map). You'd touch Morocco but mostly hang out in Italy, so I guess it's "Italian Fusion"? Whatever its all tempting. My wife settled on the fish special which had an amazing creamy sauce. After nearly getting the salmon (which I still think is lovely), hearing the Parmesan Encrusted Eggplant was a favorite around here won me over. It was a strong choice. Many chose the chicken scallopini and appeared to love it, since it vanished in five minutes everywhere. Your kids will love the penne with red or cream sauce, and while I'm guessing most kiddos won't add shrimp, they can:). Desserts are always great; too bad I couldn't imbibe tonight, but it was the perfect anniversary celebration. We will anticipate our return greatly.

Great atmosphere inside and out. Perfect courtyard for any size crowd. Tables can be moved quite easily to meet your needs. The food is phenomenal. The mozzarella was perfectly seasoned to bring out the smooth, creamy flavor and paired deliciously with the heirloom tomato mix. $13 For my entree, the Scallops over the Southwestern corn risotto and a sprinkling of queso fresco was divine. A different twist on Risotto that I'd gladly try again! $32 Dessert beckoned and I was graced with a Flourless Chocolate Mousse Cake. $? (As, I didn't peek at the menu, I was described an array of delicious desserts!) I got a Courtyard 75 (their spin on a French 75) -- the lemon and St. Germain Elderflower paired nicely with my entire meal. $13

Without a question still the best food on DI and honestly one of my favorites in all of Charleston! Our waitress last night was absolutely wonderful, which was the only complaint I had from my last visit so I'm glad to have had such a different experience this time around! The Eggplant fish is soo good and the warm bread and oil is a must.

Complimentary bread and dipping oil. Delish!!! Live music as well on the courtyard. 10/10

This place is absolutely fantastic!! What a gem. We came here by chance when visiting Daniel Island after having a terrible experience at a place close by. Coming here and being greeted by the lovely hostesses was a breath of fresh air! The moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth and welcoming vibe of Sermet's. Everyone seemed happy to be here, both the patrons and workers alike. The service was top notch, as was the food. Wow oh wow the food!!! We were so blown away by our experience at Sermet's, that we came two nights in a row. Which says a lot since I had a long list of other places I was wanting to try as well. We tried four different entrees and our favorite was the short rib over risotto. Insanely good!!! If we had to put them in order, our next favorite was probably the shrimp and polenta, then the skirt steak, then the halibut special. Each were delicious in their own way. You can tell that they take their food seriously and know how to execute rave-worthy dishes. The atmosphere on the patio was nice and peaceful, especially with the soft acoustic music. They also serve complimentary bread, which was warm and fresh. Their drink menu was extensive, too. We weren't blown away by the cocktails that we tried, but they were good! Would probably recommend going with a glass of wine instead. But still...we loved loved loved our experience here and would recommend it to anyone!!

Based on their website, the seriousness of their reservation policy, and their straightforward menu, I anticipated Sermet's to be a rather elegant dining experience. I think their wait staff believed the same thing too, offering to remove my appetizer before my entree as if my meal were a course-by-course Michelin special. The reality is that Sermet's presents much more as a family dinner spot. Nevertheless, the food more than made up for my confusion over the vibe. I had the fried okra, which was middle of the road. The surf and turf, on the other hand, was impressive. Beautifully presented and just as delicious (the shrimp, the braised beef ravioli, and the tomato base came together in great unison), I was quite happy with my entree. For dessert, my partner and I had (you guessed it) key lime pie. We just can't say no to it! If you find yourself on Daniel Island for a casual evening, Sermet's serves a great bite.

Really enjoyed this experience! Sermet's Courtyard came highly recommended, and it did not disappoint for a date night with some friends. We sat in the courtyard. It's really beautiful and good noise level, but the service was slightly slow to start out. The food was so perfectly rich and interesting, fresh flavors. I got the fish special. The ravioli addition and THE SAUCE were so so good!

First time trying Sermets and it did not disappoint. Such a cute restaurant on Daniel Island. The menu is small but very thoughtfully put together. All of the flavors were delicious. Wine menu is decent and they have a nice cocktail menu. All of us were happy with our service and food. Great place for a date night.

Great service, atmosphere, and tasty food but small portions! The service was very good- food came out relatively quickly, wait staff was excellent, and overall I was very pleased with the service. The restaurant itself is very cute, has indoor and outdoor seating, and seems very clean. It's classy but still casual and the crowd here is mainly 40+. The bread and oil was very good. The oil was sun dried tomato basil! The long braised short rib was very tasty but there wasn't much risotto. I wasn't very full at the end of the meal although it was delicious. For $31 I thought it would be more filling. The coconut tres leches was tasty although I'm not sure if it's worth $9. Overall, very pleasant experience. I don't believe the price was fair for the portion but everything tasted good and the service was great.

Out-of-towner foodies rightfully flock excitedly to Charleston for our food scene of coastal southern cuisine and award winning barbecue. Look online at guides to Charleston and you'll find award winning ribs, brisket, flounder and oysters, and as local, sometimes this gets to be a little... old. At some of Charleston's more upscale restaurants, the menu is nearly portable from one place to another. I submit that if you took the name off the menus at half of the Internet Recommended restaurants in Charleston, and asked a local to pair the menu with the restaurant, they wouldn't be very successful because the menus aren't unique. Sermet's is a different story. Just looking at their menu you can tell the kitchen means business. If the Charleston culinary experience was hip-hop, well, Sermet's would be a Tribe Called Quest, the under-appreciated original influencer of Charleston's modern day cuisine. Inside it feels humble -- like an upscale hole in the wall. It's quaint in there, just a few tables, and in the courtyard, it's beautiful. Sometimes there's live music playing, and in the early summer, there's a citrus fruit tree that you can pluck from if you want. The last time I went, I ate something relatively basic: a pan seared salmon, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I was honestly just trying to keep some weight off in prep for the holidays. And well, I feel like Velvet Jones came out and kicked me in the butt with love. It was as close to a religious experience as I could get. Frankly, Sermet's is the most underrated restaurant in Charleston. You can go for the trendy, shiny, and new, or you can go for the sure thing. If you want the sure thing, just go to Sermet's, bring an untrained monkey, and let the untrained monkey order for you. You will leave happy.

Great atmosphere. Food was good, but not great. Portions are on the small side for the price but adequate. We're they lose the stars for me is the slow waitress service. I won't be back for this reason alone . Glass of wine ordered and requested with meal shows when almost done. Just one example of how bad. I really wanted to like this place.

My mouth is still watering from the delicious meal I ate here last weekend! On a Saturday night, without reservations, we took a chance to eat here. To our surprise, they were able to seat us right away, and they were considerably busy. We were served promptly and politely. My husband and I both LOVED our dishes. I enjoyed mine so much, I finished the whole thing and had to lie down after because I was so stuffed! Not only was the food good, but the portion sizes were excellent and the prices were reasonable. We also enjoyed the quiet, intimate atmosphere. Excellent spot for a romantic dinner.

The Hungry Detective has been coming here for years and Sermet's never disappoints...it's solid and always on point with service. I started with the mussels and they were fantastic and truly the best mussels you I'll find Charleston. The halibut was on special over penne pasta...cooked to perfection and fresh!!! VERDICT: Guilty as sin for great European atmosphere dining inside or on the patio...you can even buy some art!!!

    Roasted Tomato & Mushroom Soup

First time eating at Sermet's tonight in over a year, and I'm glad to say the food still tastes as great as I remember it! I ordered the Moroccan Beef Spring roll as an appetizer and it was amazing. The beef had a nice spicy flavor to it, and was pleasantly sweet as well thanks to the raisins in the spring roll. The yogurt sauce that came with it took it to a whole new level, making it slightly tangy. I also had the chance to try the Roasted Tomato and Mushroom Soup. It was thick, sweet, creamy and filling, as well as being piping hot. I chose the Sweet Potato Agnolotti for my main dish, which I hadn't ordered before. It exceeded my expectations. I especially liked the chicken on the dish. There were some large pieces placed around the center of the dish, and had a nice chewy texture to them. They tasted even better when dipped in the sauce that came with the dish, which was thick and creamy. The ravioli was cheesy, the bacon bits were perfectly salted, the sweet potatoes were juicy and flavorful, and the mushrooms paired well with everything. After my main dish, I was still hungry, so I decided to get Key Lime Pie for dessert. Let me tell you, this pie does not disappoint. It's crust is crumbly, but hard enough that it doesn't break into a bunch of tiny pieces, and the filling of the pie tastes amazing. It has a cool, limey flavor which tastes refreshing on a hot day. To put it simply, it's one heck of a pie. The verdict: Sermet's Courtyard is amazing, and you should give it a try!

Fish of the day with squash ravioli- divine.

We came in on a Friday around 5:45pm and things were already pretty busy. We grabbed 2 seats at the beautiful bar and were immediately greeted by the staff. They have Happy Hour Monday - Saturday from 4-6 so we just made it. The charcuterie inside the repurposed wine bottle is such a fun idea. The meats and cheeses and nuts and crackers were delicious. The serving was quite large for a happy hour app. We started with glasses of prosecco and a chilled red which were on the happy hour menu as well. Melissa was behind the bar and she is AMAZING! Once happy hour was over and we learned there was live music from 7-9 we pretty much decided we were staying all night. Melissa made sure we never felt rushed. Honestly it felt like sitting in a cafe in Europe where enjoying a bottle of wine with friends is supposed to take time and never be quick. She helped us pick a bottle of sparkling rosé and it was very very good. And the price point was so reasonable. They have an extensive wine list and seriously the prices range from $23-$100+ so there's something for everyone. Once the music started we ordered the Sopressata and hot honey flat bread. It was great to share and the flavor was wonderful. It took a little while to come out of the kitchen, but Melissa made sure to check in and let us know. The space itself is so fun. There's a huge bar and a couch with comfortable chairs and tables along the wall. They also offer a small number of patio seats right outside. It got really crowded and reservations were almost a must. Another side note, the bathrooms are so nice. They're clean and well decorated and stocked with everything you could need from feminine products, to mouthwash and more. This spot is seriously a must visit! And I really appreciate their social media and website being up to date with all the specials and events going on. They have live music several nights per week and they also do classes like paint and sip nights. I cannot wait to go back!

The seating was comfortable, and there was "lite" live music in the corner; a solo singer with a guitar who played just loud enough to enjoy without killing conversation. There was also a wine tasting going on at the end of the bar, hosted by one of the vendors, which was a fun touch. Unlike the previous wine bar, Charlotte's actually offers food, and we were handed full menus right away. We decided to share a bunch of small plates, assuming they'd be, well, small. We were wrong. The portions were generous, and everything was delicious. Meatballs in marinara with fresh basil and olive oil, a Mediterranean veggie flatbread with feta, and a lovely, light whipped ricotta served with crostini toasts. My only complaint is that there weren't quite enough crostini for the mountain of ricotta we were given. The wine was solid. I went with a still rosé while my friends had reds, and everyone was happy. The door never stopped revolving the whole time we were there, which tells me this place is already a hit. It's exactly what Mount Pleasant needed along that stretch of Coleman Boulevard.
