I had initially been referred to Bliss Nails on Fletcher Parkway at Jackson Drive. However, when I went there on a Tuesday with a 2:00 pm appointment, it was jammed and the sour man at the door did not make a good impression. Accordingly, I walked out on that day. That brings me to the Nail Studio of San Carlos. It is located directly next to a Starbucks Coffee House I like to visit. One day as I was leaving Starbucks, I looked up and noticed the nail Studio San Carlos. I had a walk in pedicure and everything was perfect. I have since become a regular at the Nail Studio of San Carlos. My technician is Wendy ("Hang") and she is wonderful. Very efficient, and she does a perfect job on both my manicures and pedicures. In addition, Kevin, at the door on the weekends, offers a very gracious welcome. Be sure to pay your respects to the statues of the two gods placed on a lower shelf on the little table to the left of the check-in desk!

Two different people worked on my hands and feet, and the quality of the work was simply unacceptable. I had to ask them to redo several nails because they were poorly done. It felt like the focus was on getting customers in and out as quickly as possible rather than providing the quality service this salon used to be known for. The work was rushed, careless, and not at all what I've come to expect from this salon. I hope management takes this seriously. If the salon is going to increase prices or promote upgraded services, the quality and attention to detail need to match. Based on today's experience, I'm very disappointed and will seriously reconsider returning.

The only minor hiccup was a brief communication mix-up (English isn't everyone's first language here), but once I clearly restated that we wanted pedicures too, they immediately moved us into a booth, and took excellent care of us. Overall, a solid, no-fuss experience. Great for a quick, affordable pamper session. I would definitely return!

I asked if she needed a minute to settle herself and prepare the room and she said no. I then asked her to wash her hands prior to starting (as she would be touching my face and since she just came in and hadn't prepared the room or anything...and I don't know where her hands had been just before she arrived). She gave me attitude but I asked her again, and even said, "or use hand sanitizer." She grudgingly went to the bathroom, turned on the water for 3 secs, loudly grabbed paper towels, balled them up and returned. So, it was clear that hands were not washed. At this point, I'm regretting the decision to have given this place a try despite some of the negative experiences I've read about. But, I decided to make the best and see if it can be a good experience after all. She begins, and does not clean or prep my lashes...AT ALL. She puts tape on my undereye area, sticks some things on my forehead and starts applying the lashes. When I told her that I noticed she didn't put anything on before starting, she told me that she doesn't use anything because they contain alcohol which isn't good. After a few minutes, she takes my hand, puts a fan in it, telling me to hold it there for a bit and that I'm done. I said, what? I look at the clock and it's been 7 minutes. Yes, SEVEN minutes!!! I tell her that I have never had my lashes done in seven minutes. She told me that she's fast and that she's been doing lashes for 15 years. Once I get up and look in the mirror, my lashes on the right side are not straight. She said it was because my natural lashes were curly. I told her I've had my lashes done plenty of times and have never had that issue. I had to ask several times for her to fix it. To her credit, she did finally have me lay back down to correct the visibly crooked placement. But the final product was definitely below standard. I was in and out in under 30 minutes (mind you, we started late). When I got home, I looked in my magnifying makeup mirror. The lashes are sloppily applied and glue chucks are visible and can be seen on my eyelid. I definitely won't be going back.

I have been to about a million nail salons and I can NEVER find just one that isn't terrible. The trick is finding one that is less terrible than the rest. I am used to being treated rudely at nail salons but this was the WORST experience of my life. My nails looked like CRAP and I fought back and forth with the woman and the design the entire time... which was a really simple art deco design that she said she could do but did it awful and added all these random lines that didn't make sense. I felt so terrible about that entire experience I honestly wanted to cry. The woman who did my acrylic was rude. She kept jerking my hands around... sorry I've never been to you before. I don't know your style and I'm a body waxer who has a lot of issues with my wrist, please don't JERK my arm around. I have NEVER had anyone physically abuse me that much during any kind of mani. I could not fathom why girls were lining up to get their nails done. I HATE THIS PLACE WITH A PASSION BECAUSE: - Don't beg/guilt me into getting more pricey services -VERY VERY rude service, don't yell in my face (trying to talk to other co-workers) while you're doing work) - Don't give me attitude when I ask you for a design - Don't rush !!!! my manicure finished in under 10 minutes and I had to ask the lady to file down the top of my nail for even surface. She didn't even give me top coat. I think that's a record! - POOR hygiene. The woman used the same tool on everyone. NEVER sanitizing them. In case you think I'm being picky, state board rules of sanitation state the following: rinse implements under water, then place in disinfectant for at least 10 minutes then remove with a gloved hand and rinse under water again. I go one step further and spray with rubbing alcohol. -Trust me, they were using the CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP stuff. And know what that means for you? Only bad news So to sum things up: My nails looked like sh*t. She rushed through them so fast, there's a weird bubble in one (that I did not do) there's a random glitter sparkle on the end of one, and a dent in another... all not me. The design was terrible I had to get it fixed at another shop. DO NOT GO HERE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!BEWARE!!! read more

So I was looking for a different nail salon when I happened to stumble upon this one. I called to see if I needed an appointment and how much it would cost for acrylics. They said $40 with gel. I asked how much with no gel? They said $27. I asked $27? And they said yes. So I went right in. I knew what color I wanted right away and a lady came over and immediately started working on me without any questions. She did a good job but was really distracted by any customer walking in. One time she wasn't paying attention and put the nail drill on my skin. Ouch! She then started applying coats of nail polish that said 'gel' i never had gel done out of a nail polish bottle at a nail salon. I looked at her with a confused look and she asked if i like the color. I said yes. I figured thats just the nail polish they use..Over all I do like my nails but I'm not happy with how my cuticles came out or how she did them. Then when it came to paying it was $40.. I asked $40? She said 'yes gel!' I never asked for gel! I actually asked for no gel! She really didn't care and said '$40' again. I just went ahead and paid it and even tipped but I definitely wont be coming back. read more

I called back about a week later and they tried telling me the same thing but after me questioning them they finally told me he no longer works there. They push for cash pay (like most southern CA nail businesses) and will charge minimum $2 or 3.5% for using a card.
