It is not used for ordering, which was odd these days. Chill and super awesome bartender with the mother of all hickeys. Good pours. No Skrewball :-( I had the special, two hot dogs with tater tots. When it said double, I wasn't sure if that meant double the tater tots, but that meant actually two hot dogs. Really good. I also had the other special, the two pancakes. I meant to get the sausage, but they gave me the bacon instead. It was great. Well worth it. I thought that was the better value of the meals. They got a lot of board and card games. Very laid-back atmosphere, 90s and early 2000s pop on the music, comfortable seating, and good food. The prices were reasonable. This is one area that I think we are just going to have to deal with for quite some time. The give-and-take of prices,. Smothered tater tots, pancakes, two hotdogs with some tater tots, and three drinks came out to ~$55. NOT. BAD. Was it worth it? If this had been just a normal restaurant, I would've said no. It would've been more worth it if it had been about $40. But... nobody made us pay to use the board games, or the card games, and we sat there for three hours and had a really good time. So based on that, the fact they provide a venue for playing these games and hanging out for a few hours makes it all worth it. Really strange thing was that there was this balding guy with a beard that randomly showed up as a waiter. We had been dealing with a bartender, so this guy, kind of rude came on to us and we weren't sure what to do with him. He kind of blocked me from paying the bartender. Rude. Not a hangout spot every day, but certainly once a week, maybe once a month or more, definitely a place to meet up if you got a group. I was really surprised by the diversity of the people that were there. A lot of chess players, a whole table of middle-aged women, lots of different people playing games. I would give them five stars, but not quite perfect. The rude guy at the end was so odd. Otherwise, great location, great parking, the food was good, good value, and fun.

Disappointing and Concerning: SER Restaurant Review Having been a loyal patron of Joselito for over two years--a tapas restaurant I consider a gold standard for exceptional food, service, and ambiance--I was thrilled to learn that SER was part of the same restaurant group. Naturally, my partner and I had high expectations for our first visit to SER in Arlington, VA. Unfortunately, what we encountered was a stark contrast, and I left with serious concerns about the restaurant's food safety standards. Service: A Cold Reception From the outset, the service was disappointing. Our server (whose name we sadly didn't catch) was terse, unwelcoming, and came across as though serving us was an inconvenience. Simple requests for dish recommendations or clean plates during our meal were met with short, condescending responses. This lack of warmth set a poor tone for the evening and was far removed from the attentive, professional service I've come to expect at Joselito. Food Handling Concerns One of the first dishes we ordered was Jamon Pata Negra, sliced tableside by what appeared to be the manager. While the meat was handled with tongs, he inexplicably placed crackers onto our plate with his bare hands. This immediately made both my partner and me uneasy. Despite our discomfort, we brushed it off, removed the crackers, and continued eating. In hindsight, this should have been a warning sign of larger food safety lapses to come. The Food We sampled a variety of dishes, including: * Buñuelos * Cazón Sardinas * Montenebro * Fiesta de Temporada * Crudo de Atún * Vieiras a la Plancha * Magret de Pato (duck breast with creamy risotto) Most of the dishes were cooked exceptionally well and mirrored the high quality I've come to expect from this restaurant group. However, the experience was overshadowed by a disturbing incident with the Magret de Pato. While eating, we discovered a large piece of plastic embedded in the risotto. Horrified, we immediately informed our server, who brought over the same manager from earlier. While he apologized and offered to replace the dish or remove it from our bill, the damage had already been done. Serious Food Safety Violations Between the mishandling of food by staff and finding foreign material in a dish, it's clear there are significant food safety issues at SER. If such glaring problems are evident in the dining area, one can only imagine the standards in the kitchen. This is not just disappointing but genuinely concerning for anyone who values safe dining practices. Final Thoughts While the food quality at SER has glimpses of the brilliance found at Joselito, the service and blatant food safety violations make it impossible for me to recommend this restaurant. If you're looking for authentic Spanish cuisine, I urge you to visit Joselito, where the standards have (hopefully) remained intact. Until SER addresses these serious issues, it's a place I'd advise avoiding--especially if you're concerned about food safety. read more

I visited SER on a Friday afternoon for what I thought would be a quick happy hour drink, but ended up staying for over an hour because the experience was simply phenomenal. From the moment I walked in, I knew this would be something special. Our waiter Vilalie (Moldovan American gentleman) provided absolutely perfect service throughout the evening. What impressed me most was his attentiveness despite managing multiple tables - he never made us feel rushed or forgotten. His genuine care for our dining experience really showed. The food recommendations were spot-on. Vilalie suggested the gambas, and I can honestly say it was out of this world good. The anchovies were equally amazing, prepared with a level of skill that elevated what could be a simple dish into something memorable. I decided to be adventurous and try shark meat for the first time - it was surprisingly good and well-prepared. The clam croquetas were absolutely delicious, with a perfect crispy exterior and flavorful filling. Even the drink recommendation was perfect. The Mahou draft they suggested was refreshingly crisp and paired beautifully with the seafood. What started as a simple happy hour turned into one of those dining experiences you remember long after you leave. Between Vilalie's exceptional service and the outstanding food, SER has definitely earned a return visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality Spanish cuisine and service that truly cares about the guest experience. read more

I attended the soft opening and had a wonderful experience! The ambiance was perfect. We ordered the Pollo al ajillo and it was seasoned so good! The shrimp appetizer was great!!! I also had the steak delicious! The owner and his wife were very attentive as well as the staff. The sangria was also really really good. I would have given a 5 star rating but there were a few things I didn't like: 1. The waiters uniform look sloppy and does not match the restaurants look. I feel like they should have a clean classic look. They look like they are in a Texas barn working in the stables. 2. The water glasses don't make any sense "blue cups" water should be served in clear glass. The waiter could not tell if my glass was empty or full so they he had to come to the table several times to see if we needed water or not. 3. The loud flower curtains??? They were out of place. I will visit again as there are other dishes I would love to try! read more

We will request her every time we go and we plan on going often. This will be our date night to go restaurant. All the dishes she suggested were great. Nice to try out new restaurants. I already recommended to my friends and family. I would have given 5 stars but: The only thing I questioned is the wait staff uniform??? The restaurant is so classy and the wait staff is dressed with plaid shirts and jeans. Maybe its a theme but I think its one that doesn't match the ambiance of the restaurant. read more

Finally a Spanish restaurant that's not a tapas bar! I had heard about the contest SER won (sort of like a Ballston Shark Tank?) and was so glad they did. We went just after they opened and ordered the paella and drank lots of sangria, which made for a fantastic meal that tasted just like Spain. One tip: don't fill up on the bread and olive oil, even though you will want to, because then you won't want to order the churros, which you should, because they will transport you right to Madrid. SER is vibrant, has lots of energy and reminds me of a typical Spanish taberna. I'm so glad they're here and will return often! read more

Honestly my experience at this place wasn't the best. We went here to celebrate my friend's birthday. The ambiance and the decor was nice, but the service was terrible.we waited over an hour for our food. I had to flag down a waiter. The food was ok. The waiter offered us a free dessert, which we declined and just asked for the check. Instead of coming back with the check he brought us dessert (flan) without asking. SER is a delightful restaurant, with creative interpretations of classic Spanish dishes, including a delicious vegetarian paella. The staff is friendly and professional, and made our visit even more enjoyable. Very easy 5 star review to write - I'll definitely be back for their weekend brunch special!…read more I met with a group of friends for their $35 bottoms brunch on a Saturday; this includes a wide array of bottomless tapas and greatly discounted drinks ($1 mimosas, $5 margaritas, $5 sangrias). The food was really really delicious. While the first wave of tapas took a little longer than expected to come out of the kitchen, the rest of our dining experience was smooth as butter. Every dish I tried was wonderful - the steak breakfast bowl, chicken tostada, and beef sliders really stood out in a special way. Each dish was seasoned well and came out hot; some of the tapas came out in fairly large portions (like the beef bowl and papas) and should be shared between a few people. I appreciate how expansive the menu is; we ate like kings and queens and barely got through tasting half the menu. The drinks came out quickly and were well made. They offered all sorts of flavored mimosas and margs (at a small upcharge); I stuck with classic OJ mimosas but friends at the table loved trying the variety of options. Overall, service was great. Our waitress was attentive, quick, and kept great track of all the tapas we ordered. Cute long and thin restaurant with a gorgeous bar and view into part of the kitchen. It felt relaxed even though they had a good crowd. Attentive, friendly service from our waiter. My eggs benedict satisfied me - prepared just right. The accompanying salad: I always love French salads- they always seem dressed just right and appear so lightly and intentionally constructed. I also ordered the pain perdue French toast. It was light, crisp, tart from the orange and sweet. A very nice accompaniment to the eggs benedict. Wife wasn't feeling the best and so her ordering decision: French onion soup and the pate maison didn't end up being a good decision for her although I tried the pate and enjoyed it. Enjoyable meal.

My only thoughts that would keep people away are the prices and/or sometimes below average service experience. My go to is the lobster ravioli. The steamed calamari (the dish is similar to steamed clams or mussels) was very good. The chicken parmigiana is also a hearty meal.
