I was very happy with the fragrance specialist (9/14/19). She took the time to explain the difference between perfume and cologne etc. I told her what fragrance I currently use and she found similar scents for me to choose from. So cologne smells different on everyone, I was already wearing my normal scent. The fragrance lady sent us home with a few samples. Yes- this store is always busy but I have to say they almost always have what you are looking to buy. Very large selection due to the size of the store I suppose. The staff are always helpful and seem to be patient for such a busy location. The lines are long but go very quickly. Sometimes the testers are messy but I wish the customers were a bit more respectful of trying to keep those things clean instead of making a mess for the employee to deal with which can't be easy all the time. I think there needs to be more tissues and makeup remover in places so you don't have to hunt it down so much. Overall, great store and convenient location. read more

I came into Sephora wanting to find a lip treatment for my lips and I was welcomed by Kristina and she told me about the PERK treatment and I was super interested because I never did a deep treatment for my face and lips! A lot of the times I use hats to cover my forehead blemishes, and I feared that I would not be able to find something to help. I wanted something light weight natural looking. I'm not an ardent Sephora fan, but decided to pop by their huge store in South Coast Plaza to try out a mineral sunscreen. Firstly - the store is huge, which means navigating it can seen daunting. There's a lot of staff around (some that are very friendly and who will come to you if you look a little lost or bewildered, and others who look displeased if you approach them for help, but c'est la vie!). I love the fact that you can get samples of pretty much everything! I got two Kiehl's serums as samples, and my friend got everything from foundation to setting powder to try at home. The one thing my friend and I both noticed (both of us being on the shorter end) is that the wall/shelf mounted mirrors are really high so we were constantly on our tip toes when trying on different products. read more

At all cost avoid the older blonde/brunette lady at the register. I went to the Sephora store with my gf because she needed to return some lipstick. When we got to the counter it started off cordial, but for some reason every time my gf responded the older cashier kept cutting her off. 1st she asked why she was returning and my gf responded. Then when she asked for a follow up reason as my gf was going to respond she immediately got cut off and asked if any of the lipsticks were used. My gf replied that 3 were and 1 wasn't. The cashier checked and awkwardly implied that my gf was lying and glared at my gf and said all 4 lipsticks were used. I was a little confused at the tension that occurred because you get the same refund regardless if they were used or not. So...? After she asked for my gf email and as she was telling her the email the cashier again cut her off and took out a pen and told her to write down her email. What was the point of asking for the email if she was just going to have her write it down in the first place? All in all she was very rude and a simple return created a lot of a tension. Towards the end of the conversation I observed my gf stop responding because she kept getting cut off. I bidded the lady a goodnight and left. I've always been a make-up junkie wannabe and I learned really young that what you put on your face is as important as what you put into your body. Quality products are essential and for me, I can find most of my make-up needs at Sephora. This location is quite large and they have more brands than other locations. For instance, the South Coast location carries Chanel makeup, which other locations do not. This time around I was looking for the Disney Ariel collection mirror compact which was sold out online and was sold in limited locations. I made the mistake of going to the Shops at Mission Viejo first, and was told that they didn't carry the Ariel line. The CSR there told me to check out South Coast Plaza. So I called the store at South Coast to save myself the trouble of driving there and coming out empty-handed. The CSR who took my call put me on hold but after 10 minutes, she actually found one. It was the last one they had in the back and she put it on hold for me. There's this moment of jubilation that every girl gets when she finds exactly what she's looking for and I had it at that very moment. He simply informed me of the services and gave me space. I wanted the Makeup by Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette but unfortunately this is the THIRD time it's sold out at Sephora and I was truly upset by the news. To cheer me up, he asked if he can help me find anything else so I asked him what he recommends for my skin care and under corrector/eye makeup. His positive vibe and his customer service oriented assistance is a perfect balance so I decided to try the hydra facial! I am extremely grateful for him because he was kind, funny, personable, and made the hydra facial treatment an unforgettable experience! I felt like I was being treated with the upmost respect and he helped me relax and forget about my stress during the process. After the facial, we reviewed my skin regime and he introduced products that helped reduce my redness, pores, and dry patches. Since my skin was red after the facial, I asked him to help me cover it with tinted moisturizer and OMG he introduced me to light, natural, skin enhancing makeup. I was jumping with joy because the products he used on my skin were AMAZING and he enhanced my features without looking aged or cakey. This sephora location was one of the first Sephora stores in LA , there weren't too many people knew about Sephora back then, I used to shop here often when I was younger. I usually buy cosmetics at Bloomingdale's now, but sometimes I still come here to hunt for pretty colors and scents. I like the Makeup Forever store inside this Sephora store, this brand is playful, lots of glitters and little stones to do special looks for Halloween or holidays. I ONLY choose brands that are NOT tested on animals, beauty without bunnies, that's the real beauty! Look for brands that are made in Europe, like Paris or London, they have banned testing cosmetics on animals many years ago, or Urban Decay and Smashbox, they are the only two American designer cosmetic brands that are cruelty free! For the moment. I love the makeup primers from Smashbox, the green ones fix my red face on alcohol problem real good. The bright colors of Urban Decay are so intense and beautiful, I use it to do playful looks sometime, but I found out that I couldn't wear Urban Decay eyeshadows more than 2 or 3 hours, I get irritated eyes from it. My skin is very very sensitive, I am allergic to a lot of brands, except Chanel, Dior and Smash box. So I stick to these three brands all the time now. I just can't get enough of Dior cosmetics, the colors are so feminine and pretty, since I don't usually wear face and eye makeup, I just keep buying lots of lip colors, I always have two lip colors with me, one for daytime, one for nighttime. The 5-color eyeshadow compacts have always been my favorites, too bad I don't wear eye colors often, so I can never finish those, for $60, it's really wasteful. They have very expensive brands like Guerlain, Givenchy and Dior..etc, or more affordable brands like Urban Decay, Makeup Forever, Too faced, Hard Candy...etc, or just Sephora brand, even more inexpensive, you sure will find something within your budget! They have everything, I mean everything here, makeup, skincare, bath and body, perfumes, tools, high tech tools, beauty on the go, and many many more, just tell the sales people what you are looking for, they will help you to find the right things definitely! As for men, they have skincare and lots of colognes, men need skincare too when they grow older, especially eye cream! My daughters and I was going into Sephora to buy some skincare and makeup. I was at the chanel section and my daughters were looking around. When one of my daughters asked an employee, the employee gave her a stare thinking she's going to steal something. I see those tiktoks about sephora kids and they mistaked her as one of those kids. This is unacceptable. Workers should not judge anyone. She was being polite and asked the workers politely to recieve back a death stare. You come in thinking you want one thing you leave spending 50 bucks for a few things. This is my vice =( This place is well stocked and so popular that I find myself going first thing in the morning. That way, I get to choose what I want and enjoy my personal space. That way I don't have to worry about reaching for the same item another person's looking at. That way I don't have to share a mirror as I try to put on eyeliner. I came here one morning with a friend who was wanting a new look and the guy who did her makeup was so helpful with his tips for her eyes. I really appreciated how he would do one side of her face and have her mimic his tips and make up application on her other side of the face. The only thing about this store is that coming here during the afternoon and evening is insane, it's enough to make a girl turn away! uhm...yeah..so I found a pill in the box of my rare beauty blush packaging? lol. I didn't open it until I got home and when I opened the box that fell out. I don't even know what the pill is so it's definitely not mine. The box also has wear and tear like blush stains, rips, and etc. It clearly has been opened before and may have been returned. I should've gotten a nicer one but I was in a rush and the employee who gave me this one was still there. Anyway, if they're going to put out returns they should check the inside of boxes? I shop online whenever I can but on the rare occasion I have to go in, the staff are consistently aggressive with "loss prevention" techniques to the point it's uncomfortable. For example, I had to run in today for an exchange and in less than 3 minutes was sternly "greeted" by the same employee three times. She followed my around the store as I got face wash and then did my return. Why?? I didn't have any large bags, bulky clothes, and in fact asked on my way in to be pointed in the right direction so I could get in and out quickly. The BEST advice I can give you: Get your makeup done by Rogelio (Roger)! You will be beyond glad that you did!!!! Being new to California, I had no idea where to go to get my makeup done for an event I had to go to last weekend. (I don't know how to do my own makeup so that wasn't an option, haha!) I decided to book a 90 min Ultimate Glam appointment at Sephora and hope for the best. I truly had NO clue what I was going to get. To put it in perspective, I left enough time between my appointment and the event to be able to wash off all the makeup and go barefaced if it ended up being a disaster.
