I finally asked my Primary to give me a recommendation on a dermatologist. The first appointment took about a month. Since I had been suffering for a couple of years a month wasn't long. The waiting room was unfortunately packed. You sign in at the front desk. Yes, you must wear a mask. Then they call you back to the desk and get your information, insurance card, and ID. You sit back and wait. It was busy that day so I wasn't called until 15 minutes after my appointment time. I was meeting with Dr. Hartman. His nurse practitioner, Michelle, saw me first. She asked questions and took notes. Gave me a robe to put on for my exam. The doc came in with Michelle again. He asked different question and checked out my skin everywhere. I definitely have a classic case of plaque psoriasis. He was recommending a drug called Ilumya. They contacted Paragon Injections to schedule an appointment for me. Long story short. The drug would cost me over $5,000. for the first two shots even with my insurance involved. Michelle took on the challenge of helping me. She worked with Ilumya to have them pay for my treatment. So Michelle gets credit for that fifth star. Otherwise my only con, they are always late on there appointment times.

I had my first appointment with Anne Marie today and it was wonderful! Anne Marie is a very…read morepersonable professional! Her communications style, and what she communicates, keeps you engaged throughout your appointment. Anne Marie is knowledgeably articulate regarding everything that is available to fix, improve and enhance your skin! Anne Marie is a supreme asset to this Dermatology practice!

I first met Anne Marie about 12 years ago at the dermatologist I was seeing then. I had a few…read morefacials with her and remembered her as being a phenomenal aesthetician. I stopped seeing that derm (she left the practice) and years later, I'm sitting in my present dr's office and see they have a biz card for Anne Marie. She's their Aesthetician! Coincidence? I think it's Fate. So I promptly made an appt. Upon walking in, Anne Marie immediately knew my face in every way. Not only did she recognize me (after 12 yrs!) but she briskly pointed out all my facial issues and made suggestions for the facial. None of this filling out 12 forms prior about your skin issues. I've done that at plenty of spas and I swear they must use those forms as toilet paper since all my admonitions of my skin's sensitivity are ignored and they end up damaging my face further. Nope, Anne Marie "spotted" my rosacea immediately and actually talked to me for about 10 minutes before starting treatment. She suggested a gentle microdermabrasion, which initially scared me because of my history with spas. She soon allayed my fears by telling me she has also suffered from the issues that I have and is a firm believer in this very gentle exfoliation technique. Honestly, her best argument is her own skin which at the age of 50, looks like a 20 yr old. After the painless microderm (felt like a mini vacuum), she spent about 10 minutes doing extractions which were so painless, I almost fell asleep except for her continual enthusiasm and chatter for her work ("ooo, that was a big one! I got it tho. You're gonna love your skin!"). Then she applied a soothing mask and it was done. This was no Enya background, arm and scalp massaging, steam and goopy lotion facial. Don't get me wrong, I love those too even tho it appears that they are not good for my skin (boooo!). But Anne Marie's facials are to spa facials what a sports or deep tissue massage is to a spa massage. This was therapeutic and very educational and I left feeling hope and encouragement that my skin can be "fixed". She finished up by supplying me with tons of samples and a Written Plan for my skin. I now have a Regimen taped to my bathroom mirror! When you've been stumbling blindly in the land of vast products, this is a comfort. And she insisted that I stop in and give her a progress report next week. She wants me to really take control of my face! For those of you who are getting "more mature", you'll understand the slight panic you get when you realize your face is slowly sliding off your skull. Loss of tone, discoloration, hormoanal acne and dry skin, not to mention rosacea and peri-oral dermatitis....hopefully all of these will be banished soon. I will never trust my skin to anyone else. With Anne Marie, I can truly put my best face forward!
