Sensuous Sandwich, I've missed you. I used to work in Orem, with a Sensuous Sandwich just down the street. Then we moved the office to Lehi, a destination filled with chains. We've got 3 different, mediocre sandwich chains at point of the mountain now. I'd gladly trade all 3 of them for a Sensuous Sandwich. We came in with a hunger around 3PM. I went with my go to, The Tantalizer. Roast Beef, Pastrami, Turkey and Jack cheese. I put some lettuce, pickles, olives, banana peppers and a few sauces on it. Paid, picked up my small (baby small) drink, and took a booth. The booths are great, each one has different comics under the glass to read. It gives the place a unique charm. The food came out quick and I took a bite. Every ingredient here feels so good...it just makes you wonder what the other guys are using. Every bite is juicy, fresh, and just pure happiness. On top of that, it's so much more filling than the other guys. They LOAD your sandwich with everything you ordered. An 8 inch here fills me up much more than the footlong sizes at other restaurants. The prices are reasonable too. Overall it's just a great sandwich. I would go as far to say it's the best sandwich. Ever. I can't think of a better sandwich. I'm not much of a sandwich person, but I really do love the sandwiches here. read more

This place has been in Provo for years and when a couple of friends wanted a straight forward sandwich, we headed here for a quick meal. A very friendly staff, who unfortunately got our order wrong and had to remake one of the sandwiches...it happens. But it was dark with quickly. The bread kinda of falls apart and was the weakest part of the sandwich ensemble. Everything else was fairly straight forward, no nonsense goodness . Kinda matched the decor, kind of old school. I was shocked to see the rating this place has because it is SO GOOD. I extremely hesitant the first time I walked into this place because it is so dated. However, my family and I LOVE this place and eat here every single time we are in the area. They sell sandwiches by the inch and load on the meat-- so yummy! This place is horrible. First off, there no ovens, toasters, or any conventional cooking receptibles you would expect to see even within a Subway. They have three microwaves and run all of their sandwiches through there. The bread get a soggy, the cheese is cheap, and the meat is even cheaper. Bland, unseasoned, frozen, and microwaved. Despite a pretty pleasant looking, old-school design with plenty of memorabilia, the food is honestly the worst I have ever had in Utah period. It amazes me that anyone rates this place higher than 2 stars. Truly, this city is starved of culture and good sandwiches. I'm very picky about the quality of my sandwiches. The bread is decent and so are the toppings. The lunchmeat is middle of the road. I ordered 'The Spicy Enticer' and it was a decent sandwich. Needless to say, for the price it was good. However it was suppose to come with Pastrami, Pepperoni, and Italian Sausage. The pepperoni was your typical run of the mill pepperoni, but, it tasted good. However, the Italian sausage was non existent and if it was there it looked just like the pastrami which was cut wafer thin and tasted like Oscar Meyer hotdogs. Which isn't terrible. Overall for the $5 I paid it was definitely a step up above most fast food sandwich places. Their menu is well assorted and they offer four different kind of cheeses; Jack, Swiss, American and Cream Cheese. They offer 7 different sized sandwiches, all reasonably priced. The inches are as follows; 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, & 24. And they also offer 8 different soda fountain options, one of which is old fashioned root beer. Which tastes pretty good. Most importantly the staff is very friendly, helpful and patient. For that reason alone I will be coming back to give them another shot in the future. I would love to give them a higher rating than 3 stars, but I'm such a sandwich snob and am very picky especially, when it comes to lunch meat. read more

Another quick and easy stop on the cute street in town. Yet again, no waiter service or alcohol. It's like a deli kind of? They had funny pictures all over the walls and comics on the table. Sensuous Sandwiches seems to be the recipient of some undeserved disdain. Perhaps its presumptuous place-name is off-putting to people, or it sets unreasonably steep expectations. Customization is key. The sub-style sandwiches are sold in lengths of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, or 16 inches. They also offer a twenty-four inch option for the truly gluttonous. There are tons of topping options, all specified via checklist. I ordered the namesake sandwich, the Sensuous. The sesame-seed sub-style bun was satisfying, and it came crammed with more content than I expected. Was it orgasm-inducing as the business name suggests? Alas, no. But it's sufficiently tasty. Also, the service is exceptional, and the sandwiches inexpensive. Extra points allotted due to the table tops being plastered with Calvin & Hobbes and Far Side strips. I like the name of this place more than I like their food. Off to a bad start..... The sandwiches are simple, well packed, and satisfying I suppose. They are well priced for what you get and are fairly quick so they are nice when you're grabbing lunch for the office. The problem here is that they are too plain. If all you want is turkey, condiments, shredded lettuce and bad tomatoes, then this is your joint. I tend to enjoy complex foods with a lot of flavors to them. I can make the same thing one could buy from this place at home and I'd toast the bread and it would be better. How can one not like this place? You are literally making your own sandwhich. It's like calling Which Which bad, but in reality you are calling your own sandwhich making skills bad. But this place has good food I think. It is hella cheap and they load you up. I get the Spicy Enticer with creamcheese and all the add ons. Sensuous is a dump, let's be honest. Terrible decorations, and they make you feel like you're eating your sandwhich in a Porta potty rather than a real restaurant. What is funny is that have embraced this style and used it in both locations. My question is where do they buy those God awful booths? I love Sensuous soooooooo ridiculously much. I have never once had a bad experience there. The staff has always been fast, kind, and patient. I love the dive-y atmosphere of it too. It brings back seriously fun memories of being a kid. The comic strips on the tables is so cute and fun, it makes it hard to leave. Great sandwiches with fresh ingredients. My only complaint is the fact that the drink sizes are seriously way off. I ordered a medium and was shocked when I was handed what looked like an 8oz cup. I've been eating here for over 30 years and it's still my favorite hole in the wall! Let me say, I don't care about the aesthetic of a restaurant, I care about the food and the food here is as good as it gets. The inside hasn't changed in 30 years and maybe that's why I like it. The food was equivalent with a circle k sandwich, the meat was slimmy, one type of bread, the cashier thought American and cheddar are the same, and no tea tho they have the container. It's all about pleasure at Sensuous. Where else can you get a 6" Spicy Enticer; or an 8" Au Naturel; or a 10" Stimulator; or a 12" Satisfier? My, oh my...I do declare, I think I'm havin a case of the vapors! As a few other reviewers have mentioned, I am unable to pinpoint exactly what makes Sensuous Sandwiches so appetizing. The bread is delicious, soft, and plentiful. The meat is very thinly sliced, fresh, and piled high. The veggies are abundant and crispy. The mayo/mustard is liberally applied so you know it's there. Nothing really special, I admit. But, combine it all in the form of a Dagwood torpedo, name it after something fun from the latest Adam & Eve catalog, and people will line up to try it out. They offer a great variety of meats, cheeses, veggies, condiments and dressings to make your sandwich fantasies come true. They have salads available, but I've never tried one. They carry Pepsi products exclusively - lame, sure. But they make up for it by making chocolate milk available to us. Apparently, they're doing something really right because each and every time I find myself in the area at lunchtime hankerin' for a little Sensuality, it's packed! Don't worry, the line moves quickly and if you're sticking around to enjoy your goods, the picnic tables serve double duty as entertainment. They're covered in cartoons and funnies, mostly Calvin & Hobbes (who doesn't LOVE Calvin & Hobbes???) for your reading pleasure. I make it a point to visit this sandwich shop at least once, if not multiple times when I'm in Provo. I love The Enticer but have never gone wrong with any menu selection. I no longer live in Utah Valley, but try to plan all of my trips there around mealtimes and then manipulate my friends into eating there with me. The elements of this sandwich are nothing extraordinary. I get a roast beef with jack cheese. They microwave instead of toast it. Perhaps they are marinating the meat in addictive drugs? By far the cheapest sub I have had. It is great that you pay by the length not what it is in it. That is unless you order olive avocados or extra cheese. However it is a small amount, 25 cents I think. These aren't amazing sandwhiches however they are cheap. We got a six-foot sandwich for our granddaughter's birthday party, and it was a hit! It came in this cool telescoping, heavy-duty, cardboard box that fit in our car's ski door in the back seat, with all the condiments in to-go containers, double-wrapped for safety, in another box. We slid that rascal out onto a table, and it fed everybody. There was about a foot and a half left over, so lunch for us was all figured out for a few days. Sensous is a great sandwhich place for lunch. I love the variety of sizes they have, it's not your standard 12 inch or 6 inch options. They have many options with increments of 2 inches each (if I remember correctly). Whether I'm really hungry or just want a small lunch, they have the right size for it. The deli meat is my other favorite thing here. I like that it is thin and they pile it on, rather than thick cuts. In my opinion, that's how deli meat should be and is best that way. Some of the best sandwiches I've had, especially in Utah. There are no bells and whistles at this restaurant, just really good sandwiches. The bread and meats are so soft and delicious. The softness and how much they put into the sandwiches may make them fall apart a bit and not look very glamorous, but who cares once it's in your mouth!? My favorite sandwich shop anywhere. The 1980s decor hasn't changed, and I love reading Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes comics while I'm eating. I also love that I can buy my sandwich in 2" increments. The bread is always incredibly soft, meat portions are generous, and they have all the ingredients that I love. I will never get my picture on the wall for eating a 24" sandwich in under 30 minutes because I like to eat these slow and savor each bite. Walking into the establishment I felt at ease. Comic cut-out on the walls and tables it is easy to feel comfortable. We ordered 3 different sandwiches. They came faster then I would have thought. I liked the amount of meat and the quality, this isn't some subway meat that is paper thin. If your a hearty individual then this is the place for you. I personally felt that there was too much sauce on mine but that could be easily fixed by requesting a lesser amount.
