El salmon $14.99
Joycee K.

This place is in the same location of el jefe, maybe same owner as well. When we got here we were planning to eat at el jefe but they gave us Senor sushi as well. I decided to ordered a plate of sushi to try it since it looks pretty good. Our server from el jefe also took our sushi order as well. I ordered the el salmon and it was really fresh and the rolls are big. It's not all you can eat only a la crate. They also have a fusion of ceviche and Mexican seafood as well. The el salmon was really tasty, great amount of sauce not too saucy. Overall sushi is not bad in a Mexican restaurant. The price is a bit high for a la carte but everything was great!

Beautiful location. And The El Jefe Roll was delicious. Wasn in the area and decided to stop in and had no idea we ended up here on the actual grand opening day. It ended at 6 and just our luck we arrived around 6:30. :( The miso soups came out in a timely manner along with our water. We could tell the wait staff was definitely still working out their "new" kinks. One staff member checked another by asking us if we had received our wasabi/ginger sides. In which replied NO... and a few minutes later here comes our sides. I ordered the El Jefe roll and he got the Salmon sashimi plate. The orders seemed to take a very long time to get from order to table, and pretty sure there was some sort of order issue between sushi chef and our waitress?!? His sashimi came out early and out of courtesy he waited for my roll to arrive before earing. 5 more minutes.... 10 more minutes.... and there wasn't really a whole lot of other diners amongst us. The roll finally arrives and the first bites were delicious, but sadly our rolls were falling apart with our chopsticks, clearly not rolled properly or tight enough. Rice to filling ratio was great. Will have to come back again after some time has passed since the opening day and try the mariscos. On a personal note, congratulations John P.

Empanadas - they're okay, I wouldn't order again

I got to-go on a Tuesday. They are friendly and fast. They greeted me at the door and when I left. I just wanted to "try" the place since it's so close to me and I love sushi! I got the miso soup (due to my mom's cold) and a California roll. I loved the California roll, and it was only $5 since it was during happy hour. I will definitely be back for a full dinner. Second time: food wasn't as fresh, small sushi pieces, and not as flavorful as other sushi in the area.

I had attempted to come here on several occasions, I finally made it here and needless to say I was disappointed, The tables were sticky, I sat by the window and it was so dirty , the booths are falling apart and there were little flies that totally grossed me out. Food was ok, the water melon margarita was fire tho !

Worst place ever! The manager Gilbert Tabares was so rude! They brought my friend the wrong roll, one that she was allergic to, and he made her pay for it because she started eating it. I have never had a manager argue with the customer telling them, "how are you going to eat here if you're allergic to shrimp". Seriously?!?! Maybe next time, when the order is messed up, you should apologize. Just saying... And in response to the owners comment below.... This is incorrect, the roll she ordered has imitation crab inside (Rawken) the roll that was brought to her had shrimp (katana). After the server realized her mistake she informed my friend, at that point I told her that she should not be charged, and let her know that she should be careful when serving people incorrect orders because she has a shrimp allergy (luckily she is not severally allergic). Say what you may, you are just condoning bad customer service with your false response. **FYI: I paid for my food and wasn't asking for a free handout. Since that is what you are clearly trying to insinuate here**

Sushi is usually pretty expensive, WELL NOT HERE! You can't really complain with you can get one of their signature sushi roll and a miso soup for $10. Please look at the images I attatched, they've got some awesome specials all week long for different hours of the day. Sure I'm not gonna say this place may have the best sushi out there, but you definitely get some bang for your buck. I'm new in town so I can't really compare it to other places just yet, but they didn't let me know. Audrey was our server and she was great. She made the recommendations that ended up saving us some money here and there. That's when you know you have a good server, when they help you spend LESS. I'm a student in the area so saving money is always a plus! I got Option #2 from the lunch specials, in which I picked the miso soup and Botana del Mar sushi roll. Just the roll is $14.49 but I got both of those items for $10.99. My plus one got Option #3, Lunch Poke Bowl with shrimp tempura. Everything we got was definitely filling and worth it. I'll definitely come by again.

Do not go into this place expecting it to be like Culichi Town. Going off of the name and the concept of sushi and Mariscos, I was expecting them to serve Sinaloa Style Sushi but they serve normal sushi. The main thing this restaurant lacks is variety. I think they need a wider selection of sushi and ceviche. I tried their Camango Botano. It's a shrimp ceviche with mango. I wasn't a fan at first, but after a few bites I found myself liking it some more. Initially I thought it tasted too much like chamoy, but after the spices kicked in it was a lot better. I wish it had more shrimp in it though. It was mostly mango. This dish only came with three tostadas and two saltines, but if you need more they offer to bring out chips. They share a parking lot with Starbucks, the bank, and Waba grill, but there's a decent amount of parking. The restaurant itself is very clean and modern. The best part of this place is the service. Joshua is an amazing server. He's very attentive, kind, and ready to answer any questions you may have. He made this such a smooth experience!

El salmón that doesn't look like el salmon roll (sad face)

Both mango monkey roll and el salmon roll did not match description or picture. Sushi was bland, even the plain spicy tuna lacked flavor. I wouldn't recommend

Its broth is rich, creamy, and savory. Every bite felt like heaven. (Important Note: Currently, there's a Yelp Check-In Promotion! Free Ice Cream, Soda, or Hot Tea for one in-person Check-In.) I arrived at Kaiba (La Verne) on Saturday (around 1:45PM). Parking is easy. The lot is spacious & big. Service felt professional, accommodating, and welcoming. My server (Jayden) worked hard. Jayden maintained a bright cheery demeanor; Jayden was very attentive & quickly assisted me; and Jayden always worked non-stop in the background. My food arrived around 6 minutes and 15 seconds. Very fast!! As mentioned, I found happiness in my meal. This Tonkotsu Ramen felt memorable and special. Its egg is silky, falling apart effortlessly as it hits the tongue. Its chasu is charred, tender, and thick. The broth is creamy and rich. And most importantly, the noodles are bountiful and springy. I felt all my stress seep away with each euphoric bite. In addition, the Gyoza tasted fresh and crisp. Its filling came juicy, and I reveled how each bite left a light crunch. And the Green Tea Ice Cream (Complimentary with Yelp Check-In Promotion) tasted chill, smooth, and refreshing. All in all, the value and quality of this meal felt unmatched. Concerning ambiance, Kaiba (La Verne) felt a little sporadic. It's clean, spacious, and well-ventilated. However, its appearance is a little ugly since folded plastic bags and boxes are sprawled outside in plain view. Still, I appreciated the food photos on the wall. Kaiba (La Verne) also has utility. I appreciated the flat screen TV; it plays the football game. Also, I observed a high-chair for kids, so this location is family friendly. The location also felt spacious with its high ceiling. Overall, I had a lovely, magical experience at Kaiba (La Verne). I am very excited that the hype is genuine. I left full and happy. If you love ramen, this is an easy recommendation. 5 out of 5. It wasn't very busy when we arrived--just a couple of other tables--so we were seated immediately. While they seem to have a massive selection of rolls (likely their specialty), we were in the mood for hot food. We ordered the Yaki Beef Udon and the Teriyaki Beef Bento set. A nice feature is that you can upgrade to a combo for an extra $10, which lets you choose between California rolls or tempura. The food was decent, though we found both dishes to be a bit on the salty and greasy side. One thing to note is that unlike most Japanese restaurants that provide complimentary hot tea, they charge $3.50 per person here for green tea. The service was okay--the servers weren't particularly warm or friendly, but they were attentive enough and came over whenever we needed something. I'd probably come back again just to try the rolls since that seems to be their main focus, but I'll skip the hot kitchen items next time.

6pm, Friday, September 19, 2025…read more It was hopping in downtown Claremont. My date had a certain place in mind though... House of Pong Asian Fusion. It was my first visit here but it won't be my last. I had already did my browsing of what's on the menu. I joined in on the crispy tofu for the appetizer and the crispy salmon skin salad. When we walked in it was busy. The Dodger game was on at the bar. There were maybe three open tables at most. We were seated at their small table against the wall. A cozy table for two. We were greeted by our friendly server, she brought the menus and ask us about drinks to start. I've water all around, haha. She came back with our water. Ooh, tasted like cucumber water... Refreshing. While my lady was deciding, I ordered: crispy tofu appetizer (presented in a small dish, about 10-12 pieces of hot, crispy cubes of golden tofu with a dipping sauce) and the salmon skin salad for my entree. The salad was an ample sized serving to share between the two of us. The salmon skin was julienned and were crispy little clumps like miniature fishy hash browns. Very crispy and tasty salad that included sliced tomatoes, cucumber, and scallions on mixed greens. My date ordered the charshu ramen. We shared our plates. The ramen was very tasty. The noodles had a good chew, not over cooked. Mmm, that was delicious. The robotic server was kitchy and cute. Maybe it does assist them with delivering plates to the table but the human server was observed transferring them from the bot to the table. For our table, we had our food delivered in stages not at the same time. The crispy tofu arrived first, then the ramen, and several minutes later came the salmon skin salad. Not a deal breaker but noticed. Food was good. Service was okay, could be better.
