The area is bad but ill go anywhere for good food. If you don't mind hookers and crack heads on the corner I would definitely go here for mariscos. I'm going back to try their ceviche The campechana

    Mixed molcajete

After the Pomona Swapmeet, we were craving some mariscos and came across this little joint. We ordered the mixed molcajete and 2 micheladas. The food was superb, spicy, flavorful, and yuuum-aaay. The service was really great as well. I really liked the music videos playing on the TVs, which added to the fun atmosphere. All in all, it was a great time, and we'll definitely be back!

Came in to try this place out since it's one of the only places that has menudo on a Wednesday. Service was good and it's a nice place to hang out and have a good meal. I also got 2 orders of the fish soup

This waiter is rude and has a bad attitude. She's always seems to be upset. Dont eat here . The service sucks

Camarones a la Cucaracha: Shrimp sautéed in very rich sauce. Goes well w/ Mexican Beer.

Down home, mini stripmall Mexican eatery with the emphasis on seafood from the west coast specifically from Nayarit & Jalisco. Our waitress was on top of things by coming by often & making sure that we were well provisioned. I find that many of the best tastIng & affordable eats in L.A. are found in humble strip malls so don't let the basic décor of Pacífico dissuade you from visitIng. Mainly Latino clientele which bodes well for "authenticity". The Red Salsa here is excellent w/ a rich tomato sweet acidic flavour, garlic, chopped onions, perhaps a bit of oregano. All this is left to lightly ferment to a mellow, viscous, subtly complex Umami. It pairs well to their light, crispy Totopos/corn tortilla chips. The green salsa is watery, smelling of potent, piquancy from possibly Jalapeño or Serrano chiles. Add this green salsa to the red if it isn't spicy enough. 1) Taco de Camarones: grilled shrimp, shredded cabbage, purple onion, tomato, cilantro, Crema Mexicana on two soft corn tortillas. Least exciting of the sampled tacos. 2) Taco de Pescado: Empanizado/breaded, fried. Crispy yet overcooked so the delicate white fish meat loses its subtle flavours. Still pleasant enough. Same garnish as the taco de camarones. 3) Taco al Pastor has a pleasing pork belly sensation: fatty, chewy, porky augmented by a possibly citrus and/or pineapple marinade along with a touch of sweet, fermented fruit based sauce such worchester sauce & dried chiles. 4) Taco Governador: Like a Mulita. Corn tortilla is grilled with melted light yellowish white cheese, chopped golden orange & red bell peppers and shrimp. The cheese adds a satisfying oily, dairy fermented Umami that unifies the earthy corn, sweet bell herbal, and oceanic shrimp. 5) Camarones a la Cucaracha: This bold seafood dish is listed as a Botana/snack to go along with thirst quenching, well constructed Mexican beer. These whole shrimps, heads on, are sautéed in an extra rich, salty sauce that seems sweet red chile oil based as well as having a thick brown meaty broth. Shrimp is a bit overcooked so the meat comes out dry. Shuck the shell and get to the meat, drink beer and repeat. 1-5a) Cerveza Modelo Negra: Dark beer that is mellow, smooth, at the same time refreshing and light. Good accompaniment to all the above. Overall, the comestibles at Mariscos Isla del Pacífico: 4- Yelp stars.

    Burnt Empandas De Camaron

Seriously the worst food ever !! Something my 10 yr old tried to cook They must have forgotten about my empanadas Over cooked My husband ordered the shrimp cocktail Flavorless!! It was shrimp in salt water !!

    Supreme molcajete
    Michael S.

Best molcajete in all the land! Seriously if you're craving a molcajete, come here. They pack it with some steak, chicken, fish, chorizo, nopal, regular shrimp and camaron costa Azul. For me, the main event was the sauce. Probably the best molcajete sauce I've tasted. Not that spicy and full of flavor. Dipping the tortilla in the sauce got better and better each time. We also ordered the empanadas de camaron which were very good. We will definitely be back!

    Mojarra with diabla sauce
    Rachel M.

The decor is a little date and the inside could use some revamping but the service and the food made up for all of that. I ordered the mojarra with diabla sauce. That was cooked too perfection (most places over fry it so the fish sticks to the bones). I also ordered their horchata which was very good and came in a giant cup. The husband ordered the campechana with Agua Chile's in it but he said he preferred the regular for next time. The waitress was very attentive and polite which is always a plus.

***EXCELLENT SEA FOOD*** The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it's not an attractive restaurant. What it lacks in looks it way than makes up in: 1. SERVICE: Absolutely friendly, quick, professional and attentive. Our server was lovely and kept an eye out for anything we might need. We literally didn't have to ask for anything other than what we ordered because she anticipated everything we could have wanted. 2. FOOD: I went in for a coctel de camarón but ended up getting the mojarra frita because it looked so delicious... and it was!!! My husband got the "coctelaso" which had ALL the seafood in it. Talk about generous portions... it was crammed with yumminess not like other places where you run out of shrimp long before the sauce is gone 3. LOCATION: For those of us this side of the 605 freeway it's a great compromise for Downtown Los Angeles... all the authenticity without the commute! I'm super satisfied and full but can't wait to return and try everything else! P.S. The michelada really IS the best you'll ever have... if you don't have a favorite beer try it with Dos Equis beer!!! You're welcome!

I was hoping they would have a Taco Tuesday special or something but they don't... I ordered 2 carne asada and 1 al pastor tacos to go. They were prettty solid and delicious! Carne asada was really nice, the al pastor was definitely more flavorful, but it had more of the burnt ends, so it was either even more flavorful from the charred parts, or it was a bit hard and too crispy to have. Overall, still pretty nice though. I liked how they had the side bar, which it doesn't look entirely the cleanest, but pretty decent. Total for 3 tacos came out to be $9, so it's about $3 each. Kinda high for tacos imo, but they're pretty good.

Parking is limited, so we were happy to snag one of the last spots. This is an order-at-the-counter spot with a salsa bar, hot beans, indoor and outdoor seating, and even Mexican Coke. Indoor seating is also pretty limited, so my friend and I were glad to grab one of the small tables. I ordered the lengua and asada tacos and both were flavorful, tender, and loaded with meat. I was honestly too hungry and eager to take a picture beforehand, but I can assure you the portions are plentiful. The tacos were a little greasy, but still really satisfying. Solid taco spot if you're in Pomona.

Unfortunately, we did have to wait around 30-40 minutes for the buffet to be ready.. we were served mimosas right away, which was nice. Now.. when it came down to the food, one person in my party did find a vey long hair in her chile relllenos. We made it know to our waitress.. which was a sweet person throughout everything!! Then we were told that the chilaquiles and taco station was now open.. so we headed down to it. There was no one to great us at the station. We stood around for around 10 minutes and no one showed up. So at that moment I grabbed a bowel of menudo. Lucky me!! I also grabbed a long hair in my menudo.. my sister in law thought it was a piece of onion but it was not! It was a very long strand of hair. At that point we all tried our best to make the best of it and enjoy the mariachi and mimosas. Then when I returned to the taco/chilaquile station the lady was very rude!! She bluntly asked what we wanted instead of telling us our options.. and I said I'll have 2 chorizo tacos please.. she said where's your plate?? I wasn't aware that I had to give her a plate to serve me. It was an overall horrible experience. Especially because we were literally the only party in the entire place besides the mariachi. The mariachi and our server were the only pleasant people that morning. I will never be returning.

The food is comforting and reminds you of how Hispanic culture brings people together through food and music. All the staff here is very kind and have a lively spirit. As you are enjoying your food it is warming to hear them laughing, enjoying each other's company, and Bad Bunny music of course. I had the Tostada Mixta pictured below and believe it or not I had already dug in and eaten a whole tostada by the time I remembered to snap a pic. But some shady charges or maybe we'll call it miscommunication just rubbed me the wrong way. I always order the mole chicken enchiladas and my wife (being vegetarian) asks for the same dish but if the enchiladas can be vegetable or cheese. Apparently this means a 8$ up charge? We've done this many times in the past and always been charged the same price for both. I asked the server at the end "the veggie version is 8$ more expensive than chicken?" And he just shrugged and said yes. Just found it interesting that a meat dish would be 8$ less than a purely cheese/veggie dish. Especially since done this in the past with no issue. I also asked for "hot sauce" for my dish. They brought out a spicier house salsa as the hot sauce...totally understandable and the salsa here is usually free. Apparently it's a 4$ "chipotle sauce" that the waiter did not inform me would be charged. I would've easily just said I want tapatio or no "hot sauce". I used maybe a teaspoon for 4$. I told the waiter this when we questioned the bill and he just shrugged. These may seem like small inconveniences but when they seem like they intentionally don't tell you the details and then when called out about it just kinda shrug it off, it was a disappointing end to an otherwise tasty dinner. We love it here and will certainly be back but it just sucks that I have to be extra cautious & skeptical when ordering from now on.
