This is the dumb MENU LACKS description and photos The staff has to describe every single item. Imagine that

I was here years ago, then it was closed for a while! I was ecstatic when I came to find out it reopened... The vibes is the same. I haven't tried all the food, but what I have tried I've really enjoyed with the exception of today which is why I only gave it 4 stars. There's plenty of room for improvement, for starters the menu. If you've never been here imagine only the name of the plate with NO description, NO photos. Imagine trying to remember it all as you ask about any or all of them. It's frustrating. I will attach photos and reviews What I didn't like was the empapelado. It was basically seafood steamed in foil packet with melted cheese! It lacked seasoning and flavor! The tortillas they served with it were nasty textured and flavored.

Ceviche mix

Decent restaurant with good seafood. The servings were well portioned. We actually finished all our food. The ceviche had a great balance of citrus! I usually have to order extra limes on the side to add more of the citrus flavor, but didn't need to with their food! The service was good enough for a big party, but nothing amazing. They were a bit busy so I didn't expect perfect service. The ceviche mix had good portions of all the ingredients and even the shrimps were a good medium size. All prices were $18 and above. Only thing I disliked was they ONLY serve drinks in bottles. Water, sodas, even your agua frescas are all served in water bottled-type of containers. The horchata was too sweet for my taste. The agua de Jamaica (hibiscus) was ok. Just make sure to double check your check. Street parking. Overall, decent place. Try it for yourself and then decide.

The food is delicious. We ordered a platter I think it's called 30/30 it was $60. No complaints on that. NY mother in law got Mojarra( fried fish. That she loved as well. Th service sucked again. The first rime we went there the waitress left. This time, the waitress aren't smiling, just dropping stuff the food, just rude.I always make sure my husband tips we'll, this time I didn't care. I felt like I was chasing them down.

This place has some of the best seafood dishes in town. Every item I've ordered has been delicious . From their tostadas, aguachiles, ostiones preparados, chalupas!!!! Anything you order is a hit. Seafood is fresh and now their staffs are up to par too. All the staffs are attentive and quick to provide service. Will definitely be back again and again!!!

Vein of poop

The vibe is good and the seafood is fresh, but they don't clean the shrimp. Every one still had the black strip (poop vein) inside. For a mariscos spot, that's a basic fail. Hard to enjoy the food after noticing that. El lugar tiene buen ambiente y mariscos frescos, pero no limpian los camarones. Todos tenían la vena negra (el intestino) todavía. En un lugar de mariscos, eso es imperdonable. Difícil disfrutar la comida así.

Aguachiles

It looked like they have a lot of online orders though. I looked at the menu and noticed they have a lot of seafood options. I decided to try the lobster roll garlic butter sauce. I was told it was $36 for market price but I was actually charged $37. I also got a soda and asked for ice and it came in the tiniest cup of ice with no lid. It didn't really work for me so I ended up not using that cup. The employee in the front was nice though. Once I got home I tried it and it was okay. It's not the best lobster roll I've had. The fries were fine but the lobster was a bit dry. Melted butter on the side would have made it better, but I forgot to ask for that. Since they do have a lot of seafood options I wouldn't mind coming back to give them another try.

The ratings of this place definitely do not lie - everything is fresh and cooked to perfection! I tend to always get the shrimps ceviche and the shrimp tacos! The shrimp ceviche is always extremely fresh and flavorful - I'm not sure how they do it, but it is very unique compared to other ceviche spots Ive been to. The shrimp tacos are always very delicious as well. They deep fry it and the serving size is very worth it. I also love how they give you a bunch of avocado and limes on the side to pair with your food (they do not charge you extra for this). The people who work here are always extremely happy and welcoming - which makes the experience all the more worth it! 10/10 we'll definitely be back again!!

I ordered 12 tacos de camarón, and to my surprise, each taco had only a small piece of shrimp--not even half a shrimp per taco. I was really disappointed when I got home and started eating, especially because this has always been one of our favorite places. The tacos had all the other ingredients, but the shrimp, which should have been the main ingredient, was barely there. It's disappointing to see this from a place we've always enjoyed. I hope they take this feedback into consideration and improve their portions because we definitely expected better.

A couple weeks ago, we finally made it to dinner here, and I'm impressed…read more We started with apps: fried oysters (because I always like), and the coconut snails. Let me say the snails were a highlight. Surprisingly tender and flavorful. Sometimes, snails can have a livery / dirt / bitter flavor, but not these. And we were lucky rice wasn't on the table, because we would have stuffed ourselves eating rice with that wonderful sauce. Next comes the boil itself. My wife insisted on "no-spice" (ugh). But I got a side of the house sauce with med-spice. Let me tell you. That sauce. Again, good thing no rice on the table, because I'm already drowning everything in that sauce. Esp the garlic bread. The seafood was fine. You're not at the pier / Hawaiian beach / HK wet market fresh off the boat & straight into your mouth scenario. But fine. We're planning to be there again tomorrow. BTW, that boy scout selling popcorn a few years ago? He made it. He's now an Eagle Scout. Thanks again for the icy refreshing drinks on a hot day.

Our usual order is 1lb of shrimp and 1lb of mussels, and we've always been happy with it. This time, we decided to try the Combo #2 because we wanted to add crab legs. We ordered three combo bags, each with shrimp, mussels, and crab legs. Unfortunately, it didn't feel like there was anywhere close to 1lb each of shrimp and mussels in the bags. I can't prove it, so I can only share our experience, but it honestly felt like there were fewer than 15 shrimp in the bag. For the first time ever, we finished our meal and were still hungry afterward. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend ordering the combo bag. Not only did it seem like there was significantly less food, but with all the ingredients piled together, some items ended up overcooked. We were really disappointed because we've had consistently good experiences with multiple locations here over the years. Hopefully this was just an off day, but we'll be sticking with ordering the seafood separately next time.

The server took his time letting us know what dishes they are famous for. He also recommended some spices that is good for a certain seafood boil. The sharpie graffiti all over the walls seemed cute at first but all of that visual clutter conditioned me into thinking that the place was dirty. No offense meant to management but my son started smelling phantom smells usually associated with graffiti'd areas in DTLA. You can't underestimate the power of suggestion. Prices are comparable to Kicking Crab and Boiling Crab with a few differences. This place doesn't offer crawfish. Neither do they offer noodles as an alternative to rice. Nor do they offer broccoli or any type of vegetable. Service is friendly but with only two servers, there is a noticeable wait. But their wonderful can-do attitude offset it. When we got our crab and lobster, it was unfortunately dry. Not sure how long they cook the seafood for, but in my experience, if you let the crab or lobster steam or boil too long, the flesh tends to stick to the shells. It wasn't easy to get the meat out. We had to scrape the meat off the exoskeletons. The lobster tail was halved prior to cooking, so this step may have contributed to the dry meat. Typically you should only split it once it's been cooked. The sauce barely adhered to the seafood, so you have to dip the seafood into the crab boil sauce to get some flavor on it. The hush puppies for happy hour are a deal at $6 but there was practically no potato in it. You get breaded, fried flour. Wasn't very happy with this. The calamari was great - minimally breaded, seasoned well, and the flesh was juicy. Loved the marinara sauce that came with it. It's also on the happy hour menu, and for $6, it was a good portion. Hopefully management can make the necessary corrections to improve the customer's experience. The fixes shouldn't be problematic because they're simple enough. Adjusting the cooking time should do a lot to improve the juiciness of the seafood, and I'm certain patrons will notice the effort.
