Had this place bookmarked for a while and finally got around to trying it--definitely worth the wait. From the moment we walked in, the staff was super welcoming and took the time to walk us through the menu and their specialties, which made ordering a lot easier. The shrimp tacos were a pleasant surprise--not your typical style. They're fried and topped with a flavorful sauce that really sets them apart. Solid choice if you want something a little different. The real star of the show was the Poseidon botana aguachiles. We were originally deciding between the Poseidon and the mixta, but they mentioned they could make the botana a Poseidon style, and that's what we went with. Absolutely delicious--super fresh and packed with flavor. Highly recommend this dish. We also tried the tostada de pescado (size small), which was probably my least favorite. It wasn't bad, just didn't stand out compared to everything else. I'd personally skip it next time. A few friends had been talking about how good the food is here and I decided to try it out because I love seafood. It's in the corner of Holt and Claremont Pl. There's not too much parking on the lot but you can always park on the street which I recommend because there's only one way to go in and another to go out and as slow as I was driving it scratched the bottom of my car. When you go in you first order your food. The inside doesn't have too many tables luckily when we came there was one table available. Came here because they were Michelin and they did not disappoint! They're known for their shrimp tacos and I can see why! They're immaculate. They have so much value for what they're priced at. I really hope they don't increase their prices more. Service is great as well! There's daughter of the owner is so helpful! Their staff made the experience that much better. I would have to say that the area is not in the best place. Parking is very limited though I never had any trouble finding a spot there. It definitely feels like a hole in the wall. I just don't understand Michelin recognized restaurants. I don't see how this place could get any type of recognition like that. It's a complete dump. They have a bathroom that the door doesn't open all the way, the faucet that they used spills water out of the sink and it's just dumpy. But if the food is good, right, then everything is OK. Well I ordered a fish and shrimp taco but they don't have fish tacos. Marsico's Jalisco does NOT sell fish tacos. That's fine, I'll take two shrimp tacos. When I get them, they are hard shell tacos with a mixture of ingredients that has some shrimp but it certainly is not the main flavor you taste. And it's not a great taste. Recently tried this amazing mariscos spot that was beyond words describable but let me try. This spot has been on my list of must try's but it's farther away from me then what I would like. Still decided to make the drive out and it didn't disappoint one bit. For my order I got two tacos de camaron y una tostada mixta. The location is very small and parking is limited, they do have a parking lot but if it's full you could always park on the street. Luckily was able to order and sit inside to enjoy my meal. The person taking my order was super genuine and helpful. The service was pretty quick for them being busy at the time being which was impressive. Once I sat down and started to eat I was amazing, shocked, and totally wowed.. This mariscos spot is one to try and check out for yourself. The location was very small so being able to eat it there won't always be an option but you could always eat it in the car or by your trunk. This is a hole in the wall I would've never found if it was for yelp finding our paths. I will be returning very soon to have more tacos and have a tostada. Strolled over to Mariscos Jalisco today...and I'm kicking myself for not coming by sooner. The tacos were delicious...and it was nice to have them fresh from the fryer for once instead of room temp leftovers. I tried the regular and the triton, and enjoyed the regular more...you don't need to gild the lily with more seafood, but I can see how it's nice every now and then. I also tried the mixed coctel...which was just great. A couple of folks said the Poseidon was a touch too spicy for them, but they enjoyed the ceviche underneath. I could see coming here on hot summer days for a cool and refreshing lunch. read more

Was really disappointed when I found uncleaned shrimp in my tacos the other day :(. They don't clear the shrimps poop vein , I looked inside the tacos and they both had them in the shrimps. This place is a hidden gem located in Pomona. It has numerous of Michelin guide recommendations year after year. Once you visit and taste their food, you can see why. This review is primarily on their fried shrimp tacos. I haven't had any better than the ones they make here. Before worn though, they do come out hot as lava. A nice little hack you can do is to tell them you want them to go and they will separate the salsa from the tacos. This will give you time to allow the tacos to then pour the salsa on top of the tacos without them getting soggy. I did also try their Shrimp ceviche. It was solid, but I personally won't be getting it again. My family makes some great ceviche and I always compare my family ceviche to anything that I try and I'm always disappointed. Not saying that ceviche is no good, it's just that my family makes it better so it's not a fair comparison is why I'm not making this about the ceviche and more so about the shrimp tacos If you ever find yourself in Pomona, make sure to come try some of the shrimp tacos out. So over hyped. With the bib gourmand and the too good to be true reviews, it was a bar that was unlikely to be met and it wasn't. For tacos, there is only one option - the shrimp. It's fried with a filling and a piece or two of shrimp. It's certainly different than what you would normally expect. It was good not nothing to rave about. The tostados were good also. The Poseidon packed quite a punch. There is zero ambiance to speak of. There is a parking lot that was almost full even though there were only 2 tables occupied - must be neighbors. Came out piping hot super crispy and the filling was reallllly good. I kinda wish there was some more shrimp but in this economy? I understand. I ordered Tacos Camaron (Shrimp) & Poseidon. I see why this place is so popular! Food was simply delicious! The freshly made Poseidon came with pulpo, shrimp & aguachile! Perfect balance of savory flavors with nice acidity that isn't overpowering! Make sure to add some of their in house hot salsa on this before you bite if you like it on the spicier end. Tacos Camaron were not your typical shrimp tacos where you see whole pieces shrimp on a softer tortilla. This one was more of a shrimp that was finely ground into a paste and carefully fried to crispy perfection. Great service from the worker there who had explained the menu to me! Mariscos Jalisco is alright. The food tastes pretty good and the prices seem ok. The one thing that bothered me though is that the shrimp weren't cleaned that well. Obviously, I'm not standing in the kitchen watching them so I can't actually see them cleaning them. What I'm referring to is the deveining of the shrimp. Literally none of the shrimp are deveined here and all of the ones I ordered had dark black "veins". For medium shrimp or smaller, it might not matter as much. Came here alone on a Friday afternoon. Not many people in the parking lot and it is definitely a hole in the wall kind of place. I discovered them on the michilen guide app. I ordered 4 tacos de Camaron to go. They were amazing. The price is crazy cheap too for all that you get: avocado, salsa, and a cup of tomato salsa cocktail. I paid 12$ and change for all of this. I notice that other people have complained about the exit to the restaurant scraping the bottom of their car and it happened to me too :(. Definitely in a very shady part of Pomona but don't let the plethora of prostitutes deter you from trying out this place. I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the mishap with my car. And if you're not a native Spanish speaker like me, "marisco" means seafood or shellfish, so the restaurant's name translates to seafood prepared in a style found in the Mexican state of Jalisco (specifically, the owner, Raul Ortega, is from a little town called San Juan de Los Lagos). Mariscos Jalisco originally started as a taco truck and now has four locations throughout Los Angeles. They are best known for their taco dorado de camarones (golden shrimp tacos) and boast of numerous accolades, such as being listed in the Michelin Guide with a Bib Gourmand designation ("good quality, good value cooking") for multiple years [1], being included on Jonathan Gold's 101 Best Places to Eat in L.A. [2], and winning The Times' 2024 Gold Award [3]. Additionally, if you look at any list detailing the best taco spots in Los Angeles, Mariscos Jalisco will almost always make an appearance. I was picking up my friend from Ontario International Airport, so we decided to visit the sit-down location in Pomona since it's been on my to-eat list for a while. The outside of the building is pretty unassuming, but two colorful Mariscos Jalisco signs on top allowed me to locate it easily. Don't let the gated window deter you from entering the restaurant. The interior is simple, no frills. Right when we walked in, we were immediately greeted by an employee at the front counter. The inside was empty except for one other customer who was waiting for their takeout order. There's an overhead menu and a banner that showcases their most popular orders. A few framed newspaper articles detailing their awards hang on the pastel yellow walls. Seating is decent with six tables that can seat four and two tables that can seat two, and napkin dispensers are conveniently located on each table. [ Parking ] Mariscos Jalisco itself only has two parking spots and one accessible parking space. However, there's an empty lot with plenty of space behind the building. I'm not sure if it belongs to the restaurant, but I parked there and was fine (although the lot was a bit dirty with lots of litter), and customers who arrived after us also used it. True to the "dorado" name, these shrimp tacos were golden and perfectly crispy on the outside. The inside contained a tender filling, some sort of paste made of chopped shrimp and a starch (used as a binder, I'm assuming). Each taco was garnished with sliced avocados and slathered with their tomato salsa that included bits of green cabbage. I looked into one taco after I bit into it, and the inside did look a little gray (which corroborated Jaime T.'s review). I'm still not sure if that color was normal or not. Other reviews were correct in that the tacos' integrity is short lived. It's a fine balance between waiting to dig in because the tacos come out freshly fried and piping hot, but you don't want to wait too long, or they'll get soggy from absorbing the salsa. Maybe try asking for the salsa on the side. Everything tasted great, and I would definitely order the shrimp tacos again. * Poseidon tostada ($11.00) We ordered one each. The Poseidon tostada included a heaping amount of the fresh shrimp ceviche, avocado chunks, octopus, and extremely spicy red aguachile, all sandwiched between two crispy tortillas. This dish was just okay to me. I enjoyed the chewy texture of the shrimp and octopus and freshness from the cucumber slices. However, I wasn't a big fan of the flavor. It's just my personal preference, and I had the same reaction when my Mexican friend once made me a Mexican shrimp cocktail to try. If you're like me and have average tolerance to spice, make sure to have water nearby since this was pretty spicy. Also, this dish contained a lot of food, so I would recommend splitting just one with another person. I probably won't get the Poseidon again, but I'm glad I tried this popular order. [ Service ] The workers were quick. After we ordered, they told us we would get our food in about five minutes; it ended up taking six. And since we dined in, an employee conveniently delivered the food right to our table. The staff was extremely friendly, and they all thanked us when we left.
