This place has solid food, but needs to hire more servers. I would love to give this place 5 stars, but the management needs more help to take care of everyone. A clean environment, decent value, good service and slightly above average food. Walking in the door was a "Back to the Future" experience as it was obviously an old Chi-Chi's. That's neither good or bad - but, wow! I haven't been to a Chi-Chi's in two decades but it was all so familiar. This is a gringo-style Mexican restaurant which is just fine for dining in the neighborhood. The pollo magnifico is sooooo good but I usually won't order it myself as it's deep-fried, covered with crema and then cheese, but really is a delight for a splurge. Chips are good, both gringo and egg-battered rellenos are good, guac tostada good, hubby loves the green chili burrito. Not a fan of the spinach enchilada. I suggest going during happy hour, beers are 2-4-1. Sometimes they'll set out bean dip in the bar area (which is quite large by the way and not too "bar-feeling"). Absolutely amazing restaurant. This has been a favorite date night spot for my husband and I for all the years we've lived in this neighborhood. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere is consistently top notch. Since we've all been limited to takeout food from restaurants during the COVID19 pandemic, my respect for Senor Ric's has gone through the roof! For our anniversary, we got our favorite food and drinks to-go and I don't think I've ever had such high quality takeout in my life. It was just as good as it would be eating in the restaurant, if not better. I was so impressed. Usually takeout is soggy and cold, but the food was hot, fresh, delicious, and we even got our favorite Black Gold margaritas. Incredible. This is my go to place for Tequila Tuesdays in Aurora. A pitcher of the house margarita is $10, which is fantastic because not only is it seriously tasty but it satisfies my group of three. The queso appetizer is amazing, in my opinion it's the best item on the menu. The rest of the menu consists of cheesy, fried, americanized Mexican food though.. so not exactly my cup of tea but my friends love Ric's Platter. The service is fast and friendly, one of the waiters recognized my friends and I after two visits even though the restaurant always seems to have steady business. Overall, I mostly enjoy coming here for their Tuesday Margarita special but it's a great place to grab dinner for family and friends. read more

Best service I have received in quite a while. Attentive and enthusiastic wait staff. Our waitress was Coco and she was very personable and polite. Also, all the gentlemen working did a great job making sure our water was refilled as well as continuous salsa for the chips where they made sure our salsa did not go empty. The person who brought out our food joked about the enchiladas having extra onions when my friend said no onion so it was a nice joke because they did make sure it had no onion. The food is always great and plentiful. The margarita happy hour deals are great- for 5$ or so you can get 2 strong margaritas that do the job. The food here is pretty good and they have a nice Happy Hour during the week. Why the poor review then? Customer Service....or lack thereof. Smh... I called today to reserve a section of the restaurant for my (extended) family. There are 14 of us. First, whomever initially answer the phone picked up, abruptly said, "Ric's...hold" and nothing else before placing the call on hold. Okaperhapsy...I can live we that. She sounded young, she's still rough around the edges. No problem. Then I proceed to remain on hold for ten minutes. When she returns I inform her that my family and I were planning on coming this evening (a full eight hours from now) and were hoping to reserve a section. "I'll have to talk to my manager." Back on hold with just that. Seven minutes later, another person answers. I start my inquiry over....looking to come in this evening with a group....told her the section we would like to be at. Well, she also has zero skills relative to service because she flatly (and quite rudely) states "well, you all can come in and try to push tables together, but we can't help with that or guarantee space". As un-businesslike as the statement was on its own, the disdain and disgust with which she said it... as if the mere inquiry was somehow a significant imposition to her...was revolting. When I asked her name, she stated "Stephanie" with so much attitude that I am doubtful that is truthful information. First of all, from a business standpoint, accommodating a group (especially with ample amount of time) just makes good sense. My group for example represents members of several large organizations, and you just put a stain on your reputation. How likely are any of us, who share out information to thousands based upon our roles, to send business your way? Second, even if there was a valid reason, other than just old-fashioned laziness, to refuse a group...is nastiness a good customer service practice? Overall, no worries. Called our very next choice and was quickly, politely and effortlessly accommodated. "Would you like us to create a menu package", "Are you celebrating a special occasion", "We look forward to serving you". Shameful, Senor Ric's. Just shameful. read more

Went in on an early Friday evening. Had two for one frozen peach margaritas. They were decent and a great deal. Two drinks for under 7.00 is pretty awesome. Next we had some really good chips and a very mild salsa. I ordered shrimp fajitas. They were really good and came with rice,guac, sour cream and lettuce and tomato on the side. The person I was with had a chicken burrito and he said it was good but pretty bland and he doesn't even like spicy, you could tell it had either been in a microwave or under a heat lamp for a while. The kids menu had a decent selection of typical kid stuff, chicken fingers, hamburgers, tacos, etc. My child got cheese enchiladas and a horchata to drink. She loved her drink and per usual didn't touch her food. Service was attentive, prompt and friendly. Food over all is ok. I'd recommend sticking with fajitas to avoid bland, nuked food. read more

The food was like I went to Safeway and got taco shells and tried to make my own very white Mexican food that is literally not authentic. I would never recommend eating here it's aweful. I've been going to Senor Rics since I moved to Denver over 20 years ago. The COVID-19 pandemic has turned the restaurant business upside down and Senor Rics has stepped up to the plate by offering their full menu when many restaurants are only offering a reduced menu. The chicken fajitas, spinach enchiladas, and the wings are a must when ordering. We were really craving some mexican food and our usual spot was closed so we decided to try this place out. I would say the service and atmosphere was average... Nothing special, but nothing bad either. The food was what killed it. Salsa was a little on the Light side. Tortilla chips seemed like they were out of a bag. What really killed it for me were the entrees... They came out and looked very good. Every bite was bland and flavorless. What ever you do, do not order anything with shredded chicken... It reminded of cat food... looked like it was pureed in a blender... texture and flavor was horrible. Shredded beef was bland... Didn't even have quesadilla for kids menu. Came to this restaurant on Saturday and received our chips and salsa. We found that the chips were just crumbs so we asked for some more chips as these were all broken up and the young girl who asked if we wanted more chips, somehow took offense to us asking for more complete chips and stormed off ignoring our additional questions. When she returned she threw the salsa and ships down spilling everywhere including the top of the salt shaker. I asked to talk to the manager and when he came by the table he only offered excuses as to why her attitude was so bad going as far as to tell us her, "life was not going good and she just found out she was pregnant" he also explained that she has been having attitude problems and he was, "just about to send her home". First of all, the manager was full of excuses rather than addressing the girl who, by the way continued to work, and there was no indications of sending her anywhere. An employees bad day is not a customer's problem, but quickly becomes one when they acts with immaturity. A manager's place is NOT to tell a customer why an employee is acting a certain way, as an excuse, only that he is addressing the situation and make is better for the customer. The manager has no business sharing personal information of any of their employees, especially medical information. The manger mentioned she is having attitude problems, well maybe she should go home or take a required break to get her back on track. After reading another review from Shyla S on 1/12 it seems the attitude problems at this place is a common problem fostered by the management. While the management did not accomplish to display that the the ability to lead nor direct their people and provide a good customer experience, they did accomplished to show us that they will divulge their employees personal and medical situations and they accomplished to lose a customer who will make sure everyone I know knows this and goes elsewhere! read more

Senor Rics is located in Aurora, Colorado off of Mississippi Avenue. My Wife and Family have been coming to this restaurant for over a decade. To give you an idea about the restaurant, I am going to go into a lot of detail of what one of my normal experiences is, as well as what I love to order. Okay, so first off, let's talk about parking. Senor Rics has a pretty large parking area that accommodates upwards of forty cars or so. They do not offer Valet parking. There is close parking to the front of the restaurant in case you are handicapped or elderly. When you enter the restaurant, there is a waiting area with a small bench and a few chairs. Off to the left, is the entrance for the restrooms, followed by another area of dining / the bar area. The restrooms are clean, considering the heavy volume of dinner guests the restaurant serves. Senor Rics is able to accommodate large parties of even up to fifteen people or so, of course, with a wait time if they are having a busy night. The wait staff is very observant, and your drinks, sodas, etc. will be refilled either by your server or the wait staff. One of the things I like the most about this restaurant other than its main courses, are its tortilla chips and salsa!!!! Their tortilla chips are absolutely delicious, and are served to the table after you are seated and when your drinks are on order. Nom nom nom.... so good!!!! In fact, I've filled up on the chips many times before, winding up having to take most of my meal home!! Ha ha ha The cuisine is authentic, by that I mean there is a very small selection of non-Mexican style food. I know they have a burger if Mexican style food is not your thing. (But if it isn't...why are you there!!??!!) My favorite dish is the Chicken Chimichanga with refried beans. Perfecto! After I eat everything on my plate I feel like I need a wheel barrel to take me to my car :) (For me, that's a good thing) So I guess you can say the portions are more than adequate! Anything on their menu that I've tried is quite good and satisfying. Senor Rics also has desert items, and if you have a Birthday party and you let them know, they'll get one of their fried ice creams ready for the Birthday recipient, and the staff will sing happy birthday to them.
