My Husband and I had our first date at Senior Ric's and it was magical to say the least. We visit our hometown restaurant about once a month. The atmosphere is cozy, the food is great, but most of all, the owners and the staff there are about as wonderful as it gets. Tonight, we went for dinner and was greeted by the owner... My trout was awesome. It wasn't on the lunch menu but my favorite thing to eat here. Shrimp, fish, and lettuce on the side. My sis had the enchilada and she said the sauce to tomatoey. The tamale was very good. Chips were very good and the dipping sauce was HOT!!!! Not Aweful but, it was hot. You can never tell. Our Hispanic waitress didn't think the sauce was hot. I've been going here for years but I think last night will be my last visit. Nice enough staff and ambience but the dishes were dirty, the table was dirty, crap was floating in my drink and there was hair in my food. If I were rating the service only, I would give Señor Ric's five stars. The staff was very attentive, keeping our glasses full, clearing plates, getting appetizers and food to us quickly. The food, while plentiful, lacked flavor. The salsa had no heat at all. It was tomato with cilantro. I had the taco salad. The shell was light but oily. The salad consisted of iceberg lettuce, tomato, meat, a dollop of sour cream and guacamole. So plain. No seasoning. Not a place I'd visit again for the food but the service is amazing! read more

I honestly haven't eaten much food here except for appetizers which are pretty good. The mini chimichangas are delicious. I mainly come here for the amazing happy hour. Daily from 3pm - 6pm they offer 2-4-1 margaritas, domestic drafts, house wine and well drinks. Hard to find another place out there where you can get 2 margaritas for $9. Their service is always on point. This last weekend we had Chris to start off with and then Cole and both were awesome. We wanted margaritas and fajitas, and that's what we got! You definitely get the feeling that Senor Ric's has been here awhile! We wanted margaritas and Mexican food and first tried a highly rated taco shop, but they didn't serve margaritas, then we hit a food hall, and the taco joint was closed at 5 on a Friday! We were HANGRY! We got to Senor Ric's and each ordered our Happy Hour Margaritas. That's 6 drinks at once! You could tell there were plenty of regulars there. The vibe is grandparents. The chairs are padded and on casters. My daughter said, "is this like a house?" A couple of rounds of Happy Birthday were sung LOUDLY at different tables. The quesadilla wasn't open-faced ... ok. The steak and shrimp fajitas were fine. We didn't clear the plates, and didn't take any to go. The flan was great. This place continues to have the best fajitas I've tried in Colorado. Can't go wrong with the chicken, steak, or shrimp (the shrimp ones are my favorite). Also they are generous with the portions both from a meat standpoint on the fajitas and the sides (they offer the most guacamole, lettuce, etc. that I've ever seen). I went to Senor Ric's tonight for their Wednesday night Special, which was to choose any of their Combination Meals for $13.99. I decided on #9. It was a Cheese Enchilada (which looked over cooked), a Taco and a Flauta, as well as Rice and Beans. My meal came out rather quickly and I enjoyed it. I did have leftovers, which I like. I also chose to have some of their Jalapeño Cream Cheese, which is Like what Garcia's Mexican Restaurant used to have (They are no longer around). My meal was delicious. Went with friends to Senor Rics today and looked forward to trying a different Mexican restaurant than I usually go to. When I pulled up I had flashback to Chi Chi's Mexican restaurants since it was a former Chi Chi's. We got there right when they opened up and was taken to a table right away. As we walked to our table I'm thinking the only thing changed since Chi Chi's was there was the color of the interior walls. Our waiter greeted us promptly and brought us chips and salsa right away. My friends knew what they wanted , so I had to choose something right away. I got the Fajita Tacos with chicken. The food came out quickly and a hot temperature. The tacos were filled to capacity which made it slightly difficult to eat, but had a nice flavor. I think everything was good and left satisfied. read more

Even rating this place seems like a wasted effort. But here goes. My neighborhood was blanketed in coupon fliers recently, and neighbor wanted to check it out. I tagged along to facilitate 2-for-1 deal. I've driven by it 10,000 times but never noticed because it's a nondescript 80's fauxdobe, set back from the street. It's just as dated and tired inside. The clientele consisted of the dregs of Aurora - toothless hags, lardos on respirators, mutants galore, everyone in t shirts and flip flops on a Friday night. Trash people. They came for the food they crave and deserve. Not even in the hemisphere of authentic Mexican, it's more like a sad imitation of Tex Mex. I won't belabor how sad every single item was, but I'll just say I cut into the relleno, and about two cups of melted velveeta cheese just poured out across my entire platter of other pseudo Mexican delights. It at least provided sauce for everything. Except it had that weird gluey, pasty quality of chemical "cheese product". Salsa bland. Meat weird. Etc. Insult to injury, I ordered a happy hour margarita. Also 2 for 1. As are beers and wine. So I expected to get a marg, and later order a beer for the meal. 2 for 1, right? No. They just brought me two of the sweetest margaritas known to humanity, at the same time, leaving one to just sit there and get watery and warm while you drink the other. I called the waiter back and expressed my plan for a beer, and predictably he just was annoyed with me and says, "no, 2 of same, bartender too busy." Which is a ludicrous argument; never been a problem in a 1000 other places to just get a beer later. I drop it but he says, "you mad I send manager" which I wasn't and didn't really want but that guy shows up and I say my spiel and he's annoyed and says "this is how we've done it for 40 years!!!" I'm like whatever, I'm not going to argue about it. Food arrives, it's all shit, people who love this place are obviously trash humans, Aurora has sucked for 50 years, please do yourself a favor and find any of 1000 better Mexican restaurants in town. My friend and I ordered Rics Platter. During the meal we discovered burned plastic in the food. Mentioned it to the server and he said he would tell the kitchen. No attempt was offered to discount the meal. Asked for manager and he just said what's the problem. Didn't seem interested in what we had to say. Wasn't until I asked if he could do something. He volunteered to discount the meal 10%. Pretty poor judgement on his part. We won't be going there again read more

My husband and I visit this location quite often, we love the food and the atmosphere there as well. Yesterday we went for taco Tuesday and had a bad experience with one of the waiters not really sure what his job is his name is Lorenzo he was VERY rude to us and made me feel very uncomfortable, He was over in our area which he never normally works and he was intentionally being rude to my husband and I. He removed everyone's dishes but ours and wouldn't even fill our water glasses up I watched his actions from my seat. When he came close to our table we told him that he could remove our dishes and he responded in front of all the customers " ITS TO LATE" who talks to customers this way???? Very unprofessional!!!!!! While I love coming here for taco Tuesday this employee ruined our night out. He was intentionally rude to us he's done this to us before at this restaurant. I came to Senor Ric's with a party of 4 (BEFORE COVID) and noticed right away the ambiance of the restaurant. The dine in tables especially, because it was seriously upselling the "family traditional Mexican themed" experience. I actually really enjoyed how everyone was dressed; very formal and definitely wore their black aprons, neck ties, and had their server dish well balanced over their shoulders. When they brought the chips and salsa, we actually couldn't keep our hands off their refills, because the chips were seasoned just right. We were laughing at our friend because he actually ordered the most American thing from the menu (Mexican Hamburger) and we were all ordering our Chicken and Steak Fajitas. I absolutely loved that I ordered the Fajita Special with two tacos on the side for $12.99, because I thought it was a stellar deal! I ordered a regular lemonade, and my dessert was my favorite closure from the dine in experience. I couldn't decide between the Sopa Sundae and the Chocolate Mousse Pie. We ended up ordering the sundae, because I can get chocolate pie anywhere. The Sopa Sundae was actually delightful because the "golden sopapilla" included scoops of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge or strawberries and whipped cream!! It was super warm, yet cold.
