I'm really disappointed with this restaurant and honestly feel like customers are being misled. There were no prices listed on the drink menu, so I ordered a margarita flight that was supposed to include four margaritas. Nobody mentioned the price. When the check arrived, I found out the flight cost $41, plus an extra $2 charge for two of the flavors. When I asked the server why, he basically said he didn't know, but those flavors "cost extra." In the end, I paid $45 for four extremely sweet, low-alcohol margaritas that tasted mostly like syrup. My husband ordered a mezcal margarita that cost $22. These prices are higher than what we've paid in Miami, yet this restaurant is in Evans, Georgia. The drinks were not worth the price at all, and the lack of transparency about pricing feels very dishonest. This is not how customers should be treated. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back. read more

I was about to have lunch at a national fried chicken chain when I noticed two "Day of the Dead" skeletons dressed in traditional attire in front of the Senor Mezcal restaurant, located in a strip mall across the street. Out of curiosity, I decided to change my lunch plans and cautiously entered the establishment. The exterior theme is carried inside, featuring several large murals in the various dining areas. Ordering was done via a large menu that included seafood, steak, and chicken dishes, along with lunch specials and handcrafted margaritas. Vegetarian options were also available. The seating primarily consists of large, comfortable booths. My ground beef tostada, accompanied by beans and rice, arrived at my booth about twenty-five minutes after I ordered. The tortilla was crispy, and the beef was enhanced by a delicious sweet and salty flavor. The service was friendly and added to the enjoyable late lunch experience. My daughter's friend runs karaoke here on Saturdays so we went to show support and for DD to release her inner Adele. Located in a strip mall off of Washington Road in Evans the ambience here is certainly festive. Lots of bold murals and Day of the Dead decor. They offer lots of flavors of Margaritas, I had coconut and DD went with watermelon. We went with jumbos which were strong and cost about $16 a piece. The servers here are nice and help each other out so we didn't have to wait long. They brought us the requisite basket of chips but these were fun because there were red and green chips included. When we ordered a small cheese dip they bought a fresh basket too. Mom ordered the Yolandas with chicken and remarked that the sauce was very good, DD had chicken con pollo and I got shrimp tacos. My companions said their dishes were very tasty. My shrimp tacos were served on flour tortillas. The shrimp was large and generous but there was also a very salty meat, bacon?, on the taco. My meal was served with Mexican rice, a sauce (didn't use) and a little cup of pico. It were delicious. I ordered a tamale a la carte and it was respectable if a tad dry. It shocked us a bit when the total bill was $105 before a tip but $30 was liquor. Over alla the food was good, the drinks tasty and my DD killed karaoke. You guys, this place is a freaking HIDDEN GEM I saw a instagram reel on this place and immediately came over. They did not disappoint. We were seated right away for a late lunch, our server was so friendly. They gave us chips and salsa for free, the salsa was delicious! They have daily lunch specials until 3:30PM, I'd highly recommend coming here and trying them out. I had the #4 lunch special which was a Chile relleno and a taco with beans and rice. My sister got the Mexicano burrito and she said the meat was perfect. We both ordered a small spooky margarita called Black Magic and it is a MUST try. I love that this place is not the typical aesthetic of a Mexican restaurant, the murals are beautiful and this space is perfect. Can't wait to come back!! read more

To start we got a large cheese dip, which never arrived even after our main food. We also never got any chips or any apology for the fact that we never got our cheese dip. We also split the bill. We paid for part in cash, but BOTH parts got charged to the card somehow. They blatantly took both the cash and still charged the card for both parts of the meal. This place is a total scam, and we are submitting for a dispute on the part of the order that was paid in cash. My partner actually left a 15% tip in cash for the ENTIRE order, even though our order was incomplete, but now that they tried to steal from us, I hope she learns her lesson about tipping horrible service. We decided to try senor mezcal after someone highly recommended it to us. We came in on a Tuesday evening and were surprised at how large the space was inside! The decor is very festive and we love the bright colors and paintings! Gabby was our waitress and took excellent care of us. When asked for recommendations she was able to personally recommend several drinks and food items. I tried the prickly pear margarita and my husband had the dragon fruit margarita! We loved them! However, I will say they were very sweet. I ordered a chimichanga with steak. Oh my goodness, it was fresh and mouthwatering! The vibe is definitely upbeat and fun. I sat at the bar next to a regular and another newbie. We had some great conversation and the regular led us down a path of delicious margaritas and food. I tried the Original Fresh and the Jalapeño. The Original Fresh is pretty classic in its flavor profile. Nicely made and very tasty. The jalapeño had great margarita flavor with just a touch of spice. I stayed pretty basic with my food choice, and ordered tacos Al pastor. Delicious! I had the pleasure of dining here the day after Thanksgiving. I wanted something different, spicy and exciting to eat. I took my 15 year old grandson with me since he loves trying new foods. This place is a hidden gem. The food was amazing with all the different flavors married together! Just amazing! We had the Burria tacos and I got a spicy pineapple margarita that was to die for. The glass that it was served in was nothing that I've ever seen. I was told that they were special made. First of all, the margaritas are bomb!!! Amazing! You hardly need more than one. The guacamole is delicious and the chips crisp and tasty. I entered the restaurant and was seated at 18:49. While waiting for my friends I was served chips and salsa. 9 minutes passed without being offered a drink. Once my friends arrived, we sat for another few minutes before the owner came over to take our drink order. He was super friendly and very funny; totally broke the ice and made our drinks himself. Shortly after we got our drinks the waitress brought over some waters and took our food order. Everything else the rest of the night was perfect. Señor Mezcal is my go-to Mexican restaurant in the Evans area. I almost always get their Texas Rice and it never disappoints. The vegetables are always delicious and the rice is perfectly cooked and topped. Their prices are also very reasonable, and you can have a decently sized plates for less than $15 after tips here during lunch hours. Their service is always great too. Our waitress was very nice, even though we took forever to order because they have so many options. Everything we got was great. Their chips and salsa is one of the best tasting salsas I've had. I got the Quesabarilla, a barilla quesadilla and it was great, the flavor and texture was spot on. The virgin Pina colada I got had great flavor without being overly sweet. We got recommended this place from our Uber driver. He claimed this was the best Mexican restaurant in Augusta. Our Uber driver was a white guy so we were a little doubtful of his claim but he was so enthusiastic about this place that my wife and I decided to go get dinner there that night for dinner. Let me tell you that this place was a huge let down, especially because this place is also well reviewed. My wife got the chilaquiles and I got the chimichanga with the white sauce on it. First of all, what they served my wife was not chilaquiles. They just got dry corn tortilla chips and put Tinga on top. That is NOT chilaquiles! We were really offended by that like they thought we wouldn't know the difference. The chimichangas were a popular dish it seemed but I was not a fan. It had no flavor and tasted really bland. Neither of our dishes had any flavor. We actually were forcing ourselves to eat the food just because we were hungry. Usually if there is leftover we always take it home as I don't believe in wasting food but I didn't even want to take it home. We went to this place last year but it recently came up as a recommendation the other day from a coworker of mine (who is also white) and it brought up the bad experience my wife and I had and so I went back and finished this review that I had as a draft from awhile back but never finished. It's very rare that i have a bad review. My girls & I stopped in on Friday at 9pm...just a Quick bite and we were thirsty from our workout. We got seated & never had a waitress. For 10 mins we sat...a group came in after us & got water & orders taken. We stopped the one of the hostess to ask if we could get water. We finally did. She said our waitress was busy. It's been really tough to find decent food in Augusta, but we really like Senor Mazcal. Our kids like it, too. Our kids like the chicken enchiladas and get them almost every time. My wife and I have gone to Mezcal without the kids for a date night just to get the Hawaiian Fajitas. One order is plenty for thr both of us. It's legitimately one of the best restaurants in Augusta. But, to be fair, there aren't a lot of good restaurants here. It's a good 4/5 for Mexican restaurants were eaten at, and we lived in Houston, El Paso, and San Antonio for 3 years each. I have been on a hunt for the best Birria in the CSRA and while I still have a few more places to visit I will happily claim Senor Mezcal as the leading champs. The inside of their restaurant is a welcome change from most other Mexican restaurants. The service was fast which was perfect for us only having a small window of time for lunch before heading to an appointment. The waitress did a fantastic job of making sure we were well taken care of and also getting us our food and check quickly. The Birria was tender, flavorful, and wrapped in a crispy corn tortilla. I thought the consomé was flavorful and wasn't needing anything else to add to the flavor.
