Sometimes, just sometimes, the overall rating of a place is off. I'm talking waaaaay off. And this is one of these times. Veracruz, which has been around for over 15 years, is consistent. And that consistency is one of excellence. The variety of menu offerings, the taste and texture of the food, and the speed (oh the speed) is record setting. I have been here with one other person and I have been with a large group of people (both-multiple times) and never have I waited long for my order. Apps, main course, more salsa and chips it all comes out of that kitchen at breakdown speed. The team here has already been friendly and welcoming. They are always ready with a suggestion and willing to make any substitutions you might request. Do they expend their profits on a newly paved parking lot? Or fresh decor? Or even lighting (it is a touch dark in there after sunset)? No, but when you get that bill and see how inexpensive your delicious and expendiate meal was you won't care. I know I don't. This place deserves every bit of 5 stars. Even the six "Not Recommend" reviews are all 4/5 stars. It's that good! read more

Love this place, it never fails me! We decided to stop off at Applebees just for a change and to give them another chance, they had a 45 minute wait and many many tables still empty, we run across the street to Veracruz, parking lot full, we walk in and get seated right away. Immediately we are served with chips, salsa and asked what we wanted to drink! That's what I want, that's service! Our food came so quick too and tasted awesome! I wasn't impressed at all! Honestly, we could've gone to Taco Bell and called it a day, I ordered a chicken quesadilla and ALL they put in it was pulled chicken and a glob of cheese! Not an o toon, tomato in sight! I said you gotta be kidding me, the waiter didn't see the problem so I knew right then we should've left but noooo, my gf loves this place I ordered steak tacos (barely had any steak but full of lettuce and sour cream) and a taco bowl to go. Needed a quick lunch close to home and decided to stop in. I was pleased to see the lunch specials and the taco al pastor as a special. It's been awhile since I've been here but I'm glad I stopped today for lunch. Service was fast and great. I chose the Al pastor tacos with beans and rice with cheese on the beans but it was supposed to be on the rice. No complaints about it but I have noticed the portion size for rice and beans has went down. I'm not complaining though because it was lunch and I didn't want to be stuffed walking out even though I was lol. The restaurant wasn't busy at all so the service was quick and atmosphere was pretty quiet. I will definitely return for lunch more often now since the options are different than before. And the best part was the price $8.58 total!! Definitely can't beat the price!! read more

Our last day in Augusta and I was craving Mexican food. My Mr. found this place on Yelp and I know exactly where it was located. Always passed it whenever we were on Peach Orchard road and thought nothing of it. Reviews were fair so we decided to dine in for lunch. Was seated right away. The employees took extra precautions and was wearing masks and keeping the tables clean. Our server was really friendly and very attentive. We started with chips/salsa and a small pitcher of Margarita on the rocks. Both were awesome. For lunch I had three hard shell beer tacos and my Mr had the lunch special- burrito and enchilada with rice and beans. This was the quickest service I've ever had. Our meals were out in 5 minutes. We just started our chips and salsa. Wow, couldn't believe it. Everything was perfect. My tacos were not soggy (the hard shells) and was so good. Actually this is the only restaurant that makes them right. Not too much in my shell and enough to fill me up without the mess. My Mr cleaned his plate and loved every bit of it. After we ate, we finish our Margaritas and left very happy. Pricing is reasonable. Let's just say it was a great experience I would definitely return again when we're back in town. read more

Went with friends while they were visiting town. Ordered two taco salads and was served old/rotten lettuce. Waitress never came back after dropping off plates so we couldn't bring it up to her. She didn't come back til she was ready to drop off the check. We brought it up to her and she said there was nothing that could be done because we had taken a few bites. (Mind you we had it for 20 minutes and no one came to check on us about the food) She brought us the manager because we requested a refund and the rudest lady came over with a sour attitude. She tried to gas light us that it wasn't rotten when both plates contained the rotten lettuce. The whole table was just laughing in shock because we couldn't believe she was trying to defend the food. She eventually rolled her eyes and told us she'd remove it from the check and pretty much told us not to come back. We weren't upset until she came over with a bad attitude, lol. Quality of the food and customer service has definitely gone down because we've been to this restaurant multiple times in the past with no complaints. Don't waste your time coming here unless you want to feel like you're being served by a gaslighting ex and go home with an upset stomach lol. read more

Sometimes you just want a good Mexican restaurant. My lady was craving it on our last day in Augusta, and I wasn't saying no, so I found this spot right here on Yelp. The reviews were pretty good, so we decided to give it a shot, and it made for a very enjoyable lunch. We walked in and got seated right away. The place itself is pretty open and has lots of comfortable seating. The staff all took full COVID precautions by masking up and keeping barriers between every booth. We got our usual chips and salsa very quickly but also ordered a pitcher of margaritas on the rocks. When on vacation, right? The margaritas were very tasty. As for our lunch orders, my lady got three crunchy beef tacos while I got combination #17 (one beef burrito, one beer enchilada, rice and beans). Our food came out SUPER fast in about five minutes. And good? You know it! My lady loved her tacos because they kept their crunch. I enjoyed all of mine though the beans were a little mushy. Still good all around though. We stuck around a little longer to finish our margaritas. Great little spot if you're craving good Mexican food, and I tend to crave that quite a lot myself. Plus the prices are excellent as well. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Augusta. Delicious, fresh, affordable dishes, and the alcoholic beverages are great too! Salsa and chips are complimentary with your dine-in experience. We always order the queso. I'm partial to the tacos and enchiladas, but I've never had anything on the menu that wasn't delicious! We (my wife, daughter and two developmentally disabled men that we foster) stopped in after a long day to place a to go order. My wife walked in with one of the guys and my daughter, the restaurant was not busy. She walked to the counter and ordered a cheese dip for my daughter. I was in the parking lot having a discussion with the other guy we foster. My wife ordered her food and looked at her phone and explained that I was outside and she was just checking to see if I messaged her what we wanted. No sooner than my wife got that out the girl with the long brown ponytail tossed her pad and pen on to the desk and said "well, is there anything else?!" My wife was aggravated by her attitude, and advised that we would just take the chips and cheese dip to go. To which the girl replied "I told you, that comes with any to go order." My wife then explained that all we would be taking is the chips and cheese. My wife came back out and explained what had happened, and I went inside to have a chat with the girl and the manager. I explained what my wife said happened and the girl walked around the candy rack and just stared at her manager rolling her eyes the entire time, interrupting with "no. That's not what Happened." Several times. I pointed to the camera on the wall and asked if it had audio, and could we watch it to see, because nobody should be talked to like that. The manager advised that Emilio Sanchez, the owner, was in Mexico and did not have an estimated return date. I inquired that in an emergency like the restaurant being broken into and or robbed, that there was absolutely nobody else who could view this tape? She just told me no. I left the restaurant, highly upset without an answer at all. In the past we've had an average experience here, but due to the girl with the long brown ponytails actions behind the counter, we will not be back, and I will be calling the restaurant weekly until I get Emilio on the telephone. read more

Seems like when it comes to Hispanic Food in the area you can either get great service or good food but not both. On an extended trip from Brooklyn, NY and found this place based on Google reccomendations. Being mixed ethnicity myself I wasn't sure what to expect, the last spot we went to here had okay food but great service. This spot was the opposite. Food is definitely on point. Carnitas tasted like my Abuela's, fajitas were very well made, Guac was a little weird tho (looked and tasted like it was whipped with sour cream),large portions, convenient location off the highway with great prices. Service is what's lacking. There was a large party sitting next to us on both sides, no problem, having some sort of celebration except they had multiple kids running around screaming and laying on the floor with balloons all up in our faces and our food. If the parents weren't going to say anything then the staff should have intervened. Not surprisingly the place was way better and noticeably quieter after they left. read more

I've been to this spot probably 5-6 times now, and it's pretty consistent in terms of food as well as service. The service is normally relatively decent - haven't had any rude servers or anything, but it isn't exceptionally great, either. Same with the food. The food is alright, but it definitely isn't amazing, but it IS consistent. I ALWAYS get the vegetarian #1 (bean burrito with cheese enchilada and a side of rice), and the cheese sauce on the side. It's always pretty good, and always hot and fresh. The chips that they bring you at the beginning, though... That's another story. The chips a lot of the time (this visit was no exception), are a mix between old and fresh chips that have been heated/reheated. Not that this is necessarily a totally negative thing, but it can be, especially when the old chips are kind of stale. I've never been inside. My husband called in a to go order and went to pick up. Everything looked good. It was packaged and wrapped up well. As far as taste, no one enjoyed their meal. We got the chicken fajitas (they forgot the tortillas), beef tacos, beef burrito and enchilada plate and kid's quesadilla. I liked the rice and beans, but it tasted like American Kraft singles in th quesadilla, the burrito and enchalda had only dry, flavorless ground beef wrapped in a tortilla. Total came to $40.
