Went to dinner with some friends while I was in from out of town. Got there early on a Friday so it was definitely before the crowd and sat in their little pseudo-outside area that is closed in but still chilly and had portable heaters. The whole place has the coolest vibe and great decor. Server was attentive & friendly. Chips and salsa were amazing. Chips are super fresh and the salsa just had a little bit of cake that kept you wanting more, so of course we had to get a refill. I took a chance and tried the spicy pineapple. Margarita and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't overly sweet or citrusy, it was really good. I got a flying brisket taco which didn't wow me, the meat wasn't as tender as I was expecting. But the mojo pork taco was amazing! Seems weird to throw into a review such a good, hip restaurant,, but sometimes it is really important to mention the status of a bathroom! Stayed away from the tacos this time and had the tin can nachos. Shared them with the wife and were pretty good I would say. Reason for sharing was so we could get dessert. Had the Smokey pineapple slices with ice cream. Ice cream was one of the best I've tasted but I bet the chef hasn't tried these because all you can taste is smoke. Forever a favorite! This spot has such a swanky outside seating area with frequent nights with live music! The margaritas are *chefs kiss* greatness! I was impressed with my first visit here, a Thursday evening. I enjoyed the decor they have in their space. We had a party of 7 and we were seated immediately. The chips and salsa were delicious, we also got some queso. I ordered the dynamite shrimp taco, carne asada taco, and belly taco. I was a bit disappointed with the carne asada taco. I've always enjoyed Cantina Locale, but their service after Hurricane Helene was unreal. So grateful to the management and staff that were able to make it there to serve the community, and it was great to hear that management was working around employee schedules in the midst of an unanticipated natural disaster. The food & drinks were great, the music was awesome, the wifi was so helpful and appreciated, and the overall experience with their team was nothing but 5-star! Cantina Locale, I have missed out for so long. I've been told by my daughter, we'd love it there. Finally, her mother and I made it there, and boy, she was right! The vibe was chill, but very on the go. The service was amazing. Our server rocked at her job, and she knew it. The drinks were amazing! Skinny Girl Vodkarittas with blueberry puré OMG! so delicious and their signature cocktail the Coco, WOW! The decore is so everything all in one. Let's not forget the food. Their Queso, hands down, have every Mexican restaurant in Augusta beat and should be feeling proud of it. The daily specials are amazing, the only reason you should ever be eating the same thing more than once when in a time of a week that you may go it's only because it's your favorite. I think this place is a fun spot to eat, but definitely a little on the average side- their tacos are pricy, but they do taste good! I've been here a few times, and the quality has fluctuated each time, so I'm a bit unsure how to rate them. I do personally think that I really enjoyed the Ahi Tuna taco, the balance of wasabi and fish was great, and I thought that it was consistently the same quality. I think the chips and salsa are also average, but the drinks are great- I personally liked the margarita! Came for happy hour and early dinner with friends. I think they have a patio but we sat in a booth inside. Happy hour I think is until 5pm and it includes $5 house marg and sangria. Had one of the worst waitresses I have ever encountered. The food and atmosphere were great as usual, but she unfortunately ruined the experience. She would not speak, would just stare at the table like a deer in headlights and would stand 10 foot away and just stare. The most odd and off putting behavior I have ever experienced. I had to ask for silverware probably 6 times and she brought a single fork for the entire table, had to be reminded of things multiple times, never provided sauces, never offered refills, never verbally responded to any request. Tonight was a great night to sit outside and celebrate my cousins birthday!!! The weather was lovely and they had live music. We were with a large party, easily 20 people, so it took a while for drinks and food. The staff seemed a little overwhelmed because there was another large party almost equal in size as us outside as well. We were seated a little before 6:30 and food orders were taken around 6:50 but the food didn't start coming out to the table until after 8 pm. We sampled the chorizo dip, fried avocado, and the street corn bites, all three were delicious! The shrimp bowl, and mahi taco were okay but the kids quesadilla quiet cheesy and yummy. The kids menu only contains the entrée so any side items are sold a la carte. The drink special for the night was a Cucumber Vodka'Rita and it was very refreshing. The CoCo Rita which is made with rum instead of tequila was delicious as well. The restaurant is lovely and the vibe of the atmosphere very hip. For me, I wouldn't necessarily go again for a meal, but I'd go for a drink or two and to listen to the live music. read more

This is probably one of my favorite places to get tacos in Augusta. They just have so many options for their tacos and have many non-traditional variations. I got their hot honey, pork belly, and steak tacos. They were delicious and are my go-to's. I also split the ghost pepper nachos with friends. Where do we begin, I was blown away!!! Large buttery shrimp Delicately seasoned and bursting with amazing flavors. This was my favorite.?That was until I tried the Carne Asda taco OMG, how is it possible to obtain the perfect char on the surface yet manage to prepare the most tender, hot, flavorful, juicy deliciousness? No, No, there back there preparing made to order with pickled onions, lettuce, Coctija Cheese, tomatoes and a melody of sauces that you could serve on a shoe!! to Not to shun the crisp snap of the shrimp taco that managed to hold its own in the face of such greatness. Please don't ask me what they had the audacity to sprinkle over the fresh hot tortillas chips with awesome fresh salsa. Was it necessary to offer street corn bites that begged for a sombrero hat? No, but they tried it and succeeded all exceptions. Okay, fine bring on the watered down passion fruit & watermelon margaritas. Not the case, blended with perfection that I would challenge any barista to duplicate. So we finally tried this restaurant and I will say the ambience is nice & we sat on the porch. Our server Mary Francis was great. So we did have a really good drink with the ghost pepper margarita. The queso was pretty tasty & the chips are nice thin Cantina chips. Entrée wise I was slightly disappointed. I ordered 2 tacos, the honey garlic steak, the jalapeño shrimp & the belly (pork belly). The flour tortillas had grill marks but were cold. My Tacos were slightly warm not piping hot as I thought they should be. The meat was good but I would have enjoyed it hot...in a way I expected a little more with the tacos. The shrimp was grilled nice but lacked any in your face flavor. The pork belly one I did not enjoy. It was also barely warm and I had tried meat out of all my Tacos when they arrived. Overall they have a nice concept but I would love if they picked it up some with the tacos. My husband ordered ahi tuna tacos and said they were decent. He also ordered the grilled pineapple which was not grilled all the way through. I maybe expected the cinnamon sugar to be grilled into the pineapple but it was just sprinkles ontop. The Cantina Local has so much potential. It's in a cozy spot in Augusta. The interior is very modern, has a great look with amazing theme and decor. Their indoor patio area I didn't get to see but it looks very spacious and put together. The ambiance and vibes are a 10, the booths have nicely cushioned bench style seats. The bar blows my mind with the amount of amazing quality tequila's they offer at a decent price. The Cantina's menu is not authentic mexican but it offers Mexican dishes with an American twist. The Shrimp tacos, grilled, seduce the palate with layers of flavors, the Barbacoa taco is mediocre and their libations are very creative and definitely inviting. Nobody not even the owner had a mask visible, and most of society is following CDC's guidelines so the Cantina may want to jump on CDC guidelines sooner than later. The only thing that didn't impress me was the staff. It was definitely not busy, but hanging around the bar and continuing in conversation about how Kayla got kicked out of her place and when someone got arrested! That is not something a customer wants to even pick up on. Or hearing employees and a manager talking about how weird it is that a man comes in everyday and askes the same questions, orders the same thing and doesn't tip and hearing the employees opinions on that matter, isn't professional or even courteous to the Cantina, and at least should be talked about on break and not in front of guests. Ashley the bartender took great care of me. But when I tried to get the owners attention who was sitting at the bar 3 seats away from me, she acted like she didn't hear me and I was loud, and the only one besides 2 other people around, that Ashley couldn't even say anything to vouch for how rude that was. Overall, the standards of expectations for who ever is running this place needs to be addressed to the employees PERIOD while on the dining room floor. I'm only saying this because the Cantina has GREAT potential to be more then what I experienced yesterday. I will be back, maybe in 9 months to see if they ironed out some of the kinks of being a new restaurant because Cantina Local is FABULOUS from the looks of it, they just need to tighten the employees productivity up while on the clock and not just stand around engaging in conversation when it's not busy. I was super excited to try this spot! Me and my BF went on their opening night. There was a great turnout. The vibe and ambience are great for hanging with friends or even something more intimate. The drinks were great. The seating arrangements were interesting and I was not a fan. We sat on the outdoor patio. There are large family sized tables out on the patio and they were seating parties together with which I didn't like considering COVID. Me and my boyfriend were seated at a table with another family with only 1 seat separating us from them... during a pandemic. It was also very crowded and little social distancing was enforced. We waited about 45 minutes between giving our order and receiving our food. They threw in a free round of drinks to make up for the wait. The food felt rushed and was just okay. (We ordered the tacos) 3 top things to consider: 1. It was their opening night. 2. It was their opening night in the middle of a pandemic. 3. One is that no matter the reviews and overall rating, I will give a business one chance before making a decision on whether or not to patronize more. I share this preface because more times than not, I find my experience to be a positive one. I attribute this to businesses still working out procedures when first opening and/or accurately identifying their key customer base. Catina Locale was no exception. I have been admiring this place from afar and found the menu and outdoor space quite appealing. Finally, as a fitting way to end 2021, I went for lunch to support local, try something new, and bring in the new year with a good margarita (or two). And if you follow them on any platform, you know CL is known for their margaritas (choices of flavor and size-glass, pitcher, or flight). A close second is their tacos. Ranging from brisket to hot honey to fried chicken, the challenge is which one to order first. So that's where I focused my attention. The interior space ambience is calming yet classy, definitely a perfect spot for a date or end of a long day. The exterior space has a number of murals, all of which include a burnt orange sure to catch the eye. Out there you can grab a table (two person-regular height or high top or group-seats 8) or enjoy the more relaxed seating in the center (padded patio furniture-includes sofas and a rug underneath). I do want to state the team here were personable, quick, and checked up on me frequently. Per usual, I began with a house margarita. I firmly believe that if you can't get that right, anything else is going to be a disappointment. I also ordered a bowl of queso and street corn taco bites, to accompany the complimentary chips and salsa. I lined up two tacos for my landing. The timing of drinks and plates, along with the flavors and proper textures, were seamless in their complimentary presentation. Careful in my consumption this first time I did not sample the desserts. But that's okay, for I will be back. So overall, what should you expect? A Southern take on Mexican food, but not an authentic offering. And that's okay. If you know that upon arrival, you will have an amazing experience. As for me, I look forward to enjoying more of the menu (especially the margaritas) and will also keep in mind when their Happy Hour is occurring.
