My nachos unfortunately had some stale and hard chips. It hurt my mouth to chew. The flavor was good though. My husband liked his quesadillas with carnitas. My daughter had the kids quesadillas with carnitas too and they were the tiniest quesadillas that I've ever seen. In other places I've gotten bigger quesadillas in a kids menu. First time in a Taco Madre and we were pleasantly surprised! The highlight was the robot who delivered our food! Check out the video. Jayna waited on us and he was friendly and informative. He knew right away that the taco tortillas were gluten free, without having to ask anyone, scoring major points in my book. We got carnitas, steak and al pastor tacos, rice, beans, and Jarritos tamarind. The homemade tortillas were soft and delicious. Tacos were Mexican style with purple onions, cilantro, and lime. Plus chips and salsa! The mild green tomatillo sauce was yummy I was not crazy about the smoky chipotle salsa at the salsa bar. Everything was slightly spicy, which I like. There was a small like to order, but it went fairly fast and gave me enough time to check the menu for what I wanted to order. Got a carnitas taco (Mexican style on corn tortilla) and a camarón (shrimp) taco on a flour tortilla. Both were delicious and flavorful. Also ordered elote (Mexican corn) and it was also quite delicious. They have a little robot guy that delivers the food to your table, but mine was delivered by a human because the robot was busy. A salsa bar of 4 different salsas- I tried tomatillo (mild green) and guacamole salsa (hotter green). Seems like a bit trendy spot but the food is quite good. Metal tables, concrete floors. I would've given it a 5 if they gave us some chips... even like a handful. $5.99 for some chips and salsa seems a bit pricey. read more

I came here on a whim with some friends after seeing them on Facebook and Instagram. The place was clean and was super lively. Lots of natural light in this place. The food came very quickly and the staff were super friendly. I had gone when they had just opened, so they had mixed up our order, but it was still delicious. I just found out there was a new spot near the mall where Moes used to be so I had to try it out while I was in the area. This place is a fresh modern twist on Mexican food and has a really cool vibe to it. It's the perfect spot to get great food and quick service especially if you are not taking a long lunch break. The have food for all occasions, covering breakfast as well which a lot of spots don't have unless it's a full sit-down restaurant. The tacos they have are different than your traditional tacos and man are they absolutely delicious. I wish I would have gotten chips because the salsa bar had a great variety of salsas to choose from. I will say they are expensive so it's not the spot I would go if I was starving and wanting 4+ tacos, it's more of a quality or quantity type meal in my opinion since each taco has a unique combination of ingredients. Alright. My family and I have been looking for a good Mexican place around Augusta for 7 years. We haven't found anywhere great, but we do frequent our local Mexican restaurant due to value. Taco Madre tastes better than most places we have been to here. But not better enough to warrant driving 20 minutes from home and the prices are definitely high. I got the birria quesadilla with two classic margaritas and it was over $45 by myself. The birria is good. The margaritas are definitely not bad for $10. But not only was I still hungry, but I drove 20 minutes to get here. Our local spot could have fed my family of four for the same price and still been "good". I don't think this place is worth the price or drive, but since it's Augusta and there isn't much to look forward to as far as Mexican food, I still have to give it 4 stars. read more

I was traveling for work and was looking for some dinner options. I am always down for some Mexican food, and while there are no authentic Mexican tacos, they Have a lot of flavor. I Got Grilled Pescador, Mexican Style Vegan Soy chorizo, and Camaron. I can always take advantage of an Elote order. I ate just the insides of the tacos with the elite, and the elote was perfect. You know what I love? Good food. But that's no surprise. More than that? Good food that I didn't see coming. And that is exactly what happened when I stopped into Taco Madre on their first day open. I learned about them via social media (of course), but forgot they were set to open until it was Friday afternoon and I began my supper planning (you do plan where to go eat ahead of time right?). The food gods were at work and in my feed popped a reminder about their grand opening (on Saturday). With the first two words on the menu being "housemade chips" I was in. Now understand that it is located in one of the outside store fronts of the Augusta Mall. But this is not mall food by any means. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant straight out of Chicago (that's right, first one outside of Illinois). Enough build up, you're wanting to know what I ordered. I started with the elote (street corn). If you've ever had authentic elote then you know it came with a lime mayo, cotija cheese, and piquin. I needed a bigger spoon to scoop it quicker. Next were the nachos. For my choice of meat I went with ground beef. Again, housemade chips as the foundation so you know it was all good. Now there's regular tacos (and burritos and chimis and tortas and dulce de leche churros and fried ice cream), but we're getting distracted here. My point is, if you are getting tacos go for the Madres Tacos. For me it was the Mayan, Baja Pescado, and Korean BBQ. You will have the option of corn or flour shells. I did flour on the Korean BBQ, corn on the other two. They double up the corn shells for each taco, because of course it's the "la copia" (the copy). You use the second one for any ingredients that fall out while eating the first one. And oh the flavor (still on the shells here)! They had to have been fresh off the griddle/skillet. And what of the ingredients? The Mayan; grilled steak, Mexican cheese, pineapple, bacon, avocado (sliced), and chipotle aioli. Come on, you're already thinking about going there. Next up, the Baja Pescado; battered fish, red cabbage (such a perfect texture balance here), pineapple pico, and chipotle aioli. I loved them both and the inclusion of pineapple in each provided not only an appropriate level of sweetness, but the right amount of acid as well. Last up, the Korean BBQ; thin sliced bbq beef, kimchi Asian slaw, cilantro. If there was a taco that could go wrong it's this one. Were they overreaching on the ingredients? What if the bbq beef isn't right (Korean BBQ=whole different ball game)? What if the kimchi is overly sweet and/or the slaw doesn't provide the crunch needed to bring this together? My friends, take a deep breath and smile in the peace of knowing these questions were met with over exceeded expectations. Each bite I focused to confirm what I was eating. Such a beautiful work of art. I was capped out at this point so the only other item I have commentary for is the virgin piña colada. One word, dangerous! I know I had at least four cups of it. And as if all of this isn't reason enough, they have partnered with Golden Harvest and Augusta Tech to support our community. And the staff? Oh, super friendly and quick to serve. The ambiance, crisp clean decor and lines for a comfortable feel. And of course, a photo worthy spot (a botanical wall towards the back). So if you haven't figured it out by now, I am loving this place. And I will be back to try more of the menu. I recommend you do the same. read more

This place is a very casual location and great addition to the mall eateries here in Augusta. You order get your number and sit while they bring you your food. I believe the only alcohol beverages are canned or bottled beer. The menu itself has your traditional tacos and traditional with a spin. We tried all the ones with a spin. The madre fries are amazing with a great chipotle sauce on top with pico and guac. Very delicious. The tacos were all extremely flavorful. The Aztec taco has chorizo and shrimp with a great sauce. We ordered the Birria Eggrolls which I'd say is the best Birria in Augusta, hands down. The chips and salsa were "okay". We finally checked out this new restaurant in the Augusta Mall area. My husband got the birria fries and I got the birria quesadilla. Both items were absolutely delicious. They have a salsa bar which I love at any Mexican restaurant. They even have a robot that will bring your food to you. This isn't exciting plus for children especially. This was my first visit to Taco Madre. I ordered 3 carnitas tacos, a steak taco and chips and guacamole. The food was fresh, fast and very tasty. Frankly, the food was on a par with better Mexican restaurants where I've eaten. I didn't expect it to be as good as it was! You order at the counter when you walk in. You'll receive a number and number stand and can sit anywhere at a table, a booth or carry your food out. If you eat in the restaurant you'll have the added surprise that the server that brings your food is electronic! Yes, a robot brings your food to you, you take your tray, place your number and stand on the robot's tray, and send it back to the kitchen to await the next order! I ate late on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was nearly empty. I would like to be there during a rush to see how the robot handles the crowd. Overall, my first dining experience there enjoyable and my food was quite good. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of the "fast food" vibe.
