If I heard Aiken, South Carolina and good Mexican food in the same sentence I would not understand the comparability until I bit into my first street taco from Mexicali. My friend's parents of all people, raved about this place being the best in Aiken and we were right down the block so..taste test tally ho. Walk into the store and at first glance you might say this store looks way to small to be a restaurant, but follow the aroma to the back and it opens up to a quaint dining room with a couple of seating booths and table seating spread out. We had a Mango soda, couple of chicken and chorizo tacos with the complimentary refried beans and rice. To top it off the tomatillo verde sauce was tangy and the pico had a nice hot kick to the taste. If you are looking for some authentic spices or Mexican candy look no further. They also offer low cost calls to Latin America via a few phone banks lined up by the counter.

A dish who's name escapes me... chorizo, nopales, chicken, onion, poblano and more.

Total dive. If you're not Hispanic you'll be as lost as we were walking in. There's no signage, and no English. We meandered around until we found the restaurant in the back of this Mexican grocery store. You order at the counter & need to be able to read Spanish to interpret the menu. Fortunately I can. The cook isn't bilingual either. The food is decent but IMO doesn't rival 3 Caminos. It is however authentic so if you're craving chips & salsa this isn't your place. There was an odd amount of onion peel in my dish. The mango soda is delicious. The portion was huge and the price was fair. Beware of the red sauce! Green good, red bad unless you don't like your mucous membranes.

My boyfriend and I were trying to find a legit Mexican place here in Aiken, and we were so lucky in finding this place! If you're looking for authentic Mexican, this certainly the place. The employees here are really nice as well and it's pretty cheap (about $2 a taco). It's an old building that doesn't have the nicest seating area, but that's not something I particularly care about. As far as the taste of the food is concerned, my boyfriend and I enjoyed eating the al pastor and carnitas tacos. There were toppings at bar that you could choose from as well, including things like cilantro, onion, and two different types of salsa. We also bought some horchata mix that we made at home ourselves since it was late at night and they were out of their own mixture. We went shopping for a few candies there as well and my boyfriend was able to find the candy he was searching for that he remembered from his days in California. Definitely satisfied with this place and will probably be coming back soon!

This guy needs an investor. The food was great but the facility is a dump. Service is great and friendly.

Decided to stop in to this fairly new breakfast place. We got an Asiago bagel with cream cheese…read more It was great with just the right amount of chew. Everything is house made here and it all looked so yummy! The service was great and the owner is very nice and friendly. Feels like a hometown place where you would know lots of people. It is decorated really cute and has lots of seating for different group sizes. Please try this place!

This is a truly hidden gem, partly because they are only open one morning of one day a week…read more(Saturday), so they aren't widely well known. However, their dedicated customer base means that they sell out of everything basically by lunch time, and the really popular items within just an hour or two. Their bagels are fantastic, and i love how many different and varied flavours they offer. I'm a sucker for a good savoury bagel, and they have so many great options: Asiago cheese, cheddar and jalapeño, old bay, "low country," the list goes on! They also have savoury scones which are fantastic. Their sweet offerings, both in bagels and pastries, shouldn't be missed either. The service is on par with the excellent food, and you can really tell that they love their job and their customers. There's always a smile behind the counter, even at the crazy busiest time, and the owners are often outside greeting people and getting to know their customers. The store gets the job done, but it's not as cozy as you might expect or want for the best bakery in Aiken. If they could make it a warmer feel with big plush armchairs I'm not sure I'd ever leave.

I cannot tell you why it took me so long to go in, maybe the narrow little door? Or i decided it…read morewas a wedding cake shop (with windows full of cookies?). But finally I needed a cupcake. I needed it. Next to the Bone-i-fida dog biscuits and Ace Hardware this little shop sits with it's little screen door and two cases full of goodness. One case is just cupcakes, red velvet, seasonal, italian buttercream, hummingbird (i must try this, what in the heck is hummingbird?) chocolate, they are beautiful sitting there.. I get two, the seasonal and the red velvet. I try not to notice the other case, full of delightful little cookies (italian wedding, chocolate chip, really fun sugar -they have 200+ cookie cutter shapes!). Moral of the story? If you are concerned about fitting into your pants, stay away.

I really want to like this place. I do. I love dessert. This place is so hit or miss. I went back…read moretoday for the first time in a long time. I ordered: 1. White Chocolate Cherry Cookie- this was devoured by my husband, who said it was very good. 2. Lemon square- It was unlike any other lemon square I have ever had- and I really enjoyed it. The shortbread crust was perfect, and VERY thick- but again excellent flavor and not under done. The lemon topping, was not to sweet or too tart- I would have liked more of it. But I would go back for this. 3. Lemon Spritz Cookie ( I cannot remember what they called it) They were BAD. I mean something is wrong with that recipe. 4. Oreo Cheesecake- Again my husband ate this. It was in a cupcake wrapper, he enjoyed it. Not the best he has ever had- but good. 5. White Chocolate Raspberry Cupcake- It was not to good. This one was too dense- flavor was only okay. 6. Red Velvet Cupcake- The cake was pretty good- they nailed the red velvet flavor- tangy, without too much chocolate. The Icing however was not so good. It had chunks of nuts in it that really ruined it for me- and the overall flavor or the icing could have been better. Today's total was $8.71...It will probably be a long time ( again) before I go back....
