Came for taco Tuesday, expecting some happy hour style deals. $10 for two tiny bite sizes crispy ground Kobe tacos. Yes the menu says $4.50 each, but they charged me $10 for two. (Server did fix at end) Ate those in about 60 seconds and was still hungry so bought a cali steak taco for $6. Assumed it would be more substantial based on $6 price for a single taco. Surprisingly - Even smaller but $6! Tacos were good but very disappointed in the value. See my photos to prove I am not exaggerating. Other regular menu items are more reasonably priced and good, in particular the burgers but the tacos are a ripoff for the size. QUESSSSOOOO!! They have the BEST queso dip in SoCal...I've seriously been searching for a decent queso since I moved here from Texas over 12 years ago and nothing has come close until now lol. We also love their Mediterranean bowls - staff are friendly and they're in a wonderful location! We come here occasionally and usually get the Mediterranean bowls - either with the salmon or chicken and both are excellent - generous portions and great flavor combos. The salmon is always cooked very nicely. This last visit I tried their steak salad and it was pretty good too - the steak was soft and had lovely flavor. But the queso will definitely keep me coming back now that I found it haha! They have patio seating out front on busy Myrtle in Old Town - right in the thick of the action - great for people watching. The inside seating by the front bar is nice too bc they have huge windows for the action as well. They also have a back patio. We usually come for lunch and it's pretty quiet, especially inside. But once it hits mid afternoon into the evening it gets very lively here. They have a nice variety of drinks available as well as TVs in the bar area. Prices are what you'd expect for the area. Staff are helpful and friendly - very welcoming. Since it's in Old Town, parking is all street or in one of the numerous public lots and usually easy to find. Tysm for having awesome queso!! We were first timers today and it was a lovely experience! Our server was Yvonne and our busser was Evalyn the both of them were so attentive and kind making sure we had everything we needed and checking in on us often. We came by close to 3pm which happened to be happy hour so that's a plus!! We tried the Al pastor tacos, tempura shrimp tacos, chicken nachos, chips and guacamole and we also got my daughter a cup of the albondigas soup. Everything was delicious and good quality. We came in with a large party of 16 people as soon as they opened at 11:30 no one was in there and we were waiting outside 30 minutes prior to them opening and no one was waiting besides us. And once they were opened they told us that the only thing we could eat was a taco menu and not their breakfast. Seeing the size of our party prior to opening I'm not sure why an employee couldn't come out and explain that to us instead of having us wait and then denying us breakfast. We also asked to see if we could come in as two separate parties so we could eat breakfast and they denied us that as well which didn't make sense either. Nice little neighborhood eating spot. Decent amount of TVs to watch football. Really pleasant staff and community oriented. Nothing out of the ordinary, but the food was delicious and I have to say I enjoyed it and would do it again. I recently organized a 50 person event at Sena while the atmosphere and our server were pleasant, the overall experience was completely overshadowed by what I can only describe as exorbitant and non-transparent pricing. The food itself was perfectly adequate, perhaps a three-star meal at best. Beyond the 22% gratuity fee" that was automatically added, there was a 5% large charge fee for using credit card to pay the $2400 plus bill The restaurant manager said it was a normal practice and in the party agreement - I told her the I was only informed of the first 20% gratuity and then 22% gratuity which I agreed, but not the 5% large charge that was hidden in the fine print . I told her I was just going to a restaurant for drinks and finger food, not buying a house or getting a home mortgage that I have to read the fine print. For the 22% gratuity fee, we don't even get a single 100% dedicated service staff- the waitress beside serving our party, she was also Busy serving others. Suggestion:: Do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere. Sena prioritizes extracting every possible dollar from its customers over delivering genuine value or transparent pricing. read more

This place is such a gem. I love Monrovia and all the cute little stores in the area. Free parking can be found nearby in their multiple lots. There are time limits in certain areas where you park so just read the signs. I came here for lunch with a friend and we were seated immediately. There are a couple of tables in front, more inside and they have a back shaded patio with more seats. There are tv's out back as well and I'd imagine the evenings out here are nice when there's a game going on. There are a good amount of items on their menu. I'm not a big portions kind of girl and so I really liked how their plates were filling but not overly filling. What was ordered: Shrimp Tacos: (5/5) Generous amounts of large shrimp, topped with slaw, and guacamole. It was all flavored really well and the side of chips w/salsa was the perfect combo. Kobe Beef Sliders: (5/5) The sliders were delish! Perfectly juicy. The bacon, blue cheese, crispy onions and aioli paired so good with the sliders. There are so many sides to choose from but my friend chose sweet potato fries. This has been on my list for a while now, and I'm happy to have tried it. Drinks: -margarita: was really sweet, so not my particular taste but the salt rim was nice! ***note: may be some cross contamination on cocktail glasses as we ordered the original margarita so no jalapeño or spices but after touching the cup and touching his face, he started burning up like jalapeños stung him. He had to go to the bathroom to wash it out a bit so that wasn't the most pleasant thing to happen -sangria: looveeddd my sangria :) yum! Food: -Kobe slider: was delicious and well made! Would get again -quesadilla: was bigger than i thought it'd be and also was tasty and savory, yum! -fries: the meat wasn't my favorite but i think that's a personal preference cause it was still soft and tender. The fries were also a bit soggy but i loooved the melted and shredded and the amount of cheese-- yes!! Service: we came when it wasn't really packed around 4:45-5p but the service was a little hard. We had our holiday team dinner at Sena on a Wednesday night in December. The front of the shop is smaller, but the back opens up to an outdoor patio with a television. I enjoyed the food. I really liked the steak/eggplant taco and the steak quesadilla with extra cheese. The zucchini taco received rave reviews. The fish taco was nice. The salmon wasn't my favorite but others liked them. Each dish came with a ton of chips, which unfortunately were wasted in favor of the tacos, nachos, and quesadillas. We come here a lot. The food is usually pretty good and the drinks are decent. Not watered down. Last night, we stopped in for happy hour. It wasn't very busy but the service was soooo slow. Hence the 10% tip and only 4 stars. Sorry waitress, next time pay more attention because we usually tip 20% or more. Also, we used a high chair for our baby and when we left, they just took the chair from our table and put it at the next table for a new group of people and they didn't even wipe it down. Gross!! Came here after hiking some local trails in Monrovia, its located in the quaint Old Town section of Monrovia, which is full of small shops and restaurants. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the place was also dog friendly. We got sat out front, they do have a back patio, but dogs aren't allowed back there. The restaurant itself is quite small if it weren't for the back patio and the seats out front. They were have a couple of screens and were showing the Sunday football games. We ordered a jalapeno gimlet, seared steak breakfast burrito and a birria quesadilla. Everything was quite tasty. Some minor nitpicks, the gimlet didn't come with ice, but it was very tasty and it was ice cold, so they just strained the thing. The seared steak burrito was well rolled and very tasty but coudl've used a bit more stuffing to make the burrito a bit bigger, there was a bit too much tortilla at the ends but that was minor. The birria quesadilla was good, but they probably could've drained the meat more first so it wasn't as soggy (especially since it comes with a bowl of consomme to dip it into). Sena has a really nice vibe. You'll feel it when you walk in. I like that it's not loud. There's a front section and a back section. We were in the back section which is actually outside, but it doesn't seem like it until you look up at the sky. Most of it is covered, though. It was a cold night in February and even the super cool-looking firepit at our table wasn't enough to keep us warm, even with our jackets on. Our food came out within minutes of ordering it. Customer service is lacking. Stopped by yesterday to have lunch with a friend and when we arrived we waited at the hostess podium for about 15 minutes and nobody ever greeted us. I decided to walk in and ask one of the employees at the bar if it was open seating, and was told no there is a hostess. I let her know we had been waiting outside for some time and she said "yeah we're really busy". So I waited outside until the hostess came and greeted us, put our name in for a table and was told it would be a 20 minute wait. While we were waiting we went for a walk and as it got closer to the 20 minute mark i checked my wait time in the waitly app and it said it would be 1 minute. We headed back to the front of the restaurant and sat on the benches in front to wait for our table. After about another 20 minutes, the hostess comes out and tells us it will be at least 45 minutes to get our food once we are seated and order. We continued to wait and we were never seated so we left and found another lunch spot. It did not seem as though they were very interested in serving us as I never received an update on the app indicating we were going to be seated. Unfortunate as I have had several good experiences here. Seems as though they are understaffed and all the employees are too stressed out to even be polite. read more

WOW... I'm trying to figure out where to start. Went to Monrovia for a late lunch and chose to step into Sena and give it a try. The exterior seating and decor pulled us inside. Once inside we were immediately greeted by the bartender. Our hostess was friendly and guided us to our seats located on the rear patio. The aesthetic of the place is amazingly welcoming. The menu provided was easy to read with a great yet not overwhelming selection of food items. Food items ranged from chicken sandwiches to ceviche. We went with sandwiches, sliders, fish and chips and ceviche. I had to try their michelada. We also tried a tequila sunrise, margarita and a sangria. The sandwiches, fries, salads, sauces, sliders, freshly battered fish and chips were fantastic. Unfortunately the drinks fell a bit short. The white wine sangria was quite orangy. We've had many sangrias and this one was not made in a traditional manner. The sunrise worked, the margarita was fine...My michelada could have been served in a larger glass or maybe with slightly more beer. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food came quick and the requests for additional items were immediately provided. I enjoyed Sena and would return. A little tweaking of the drink recipes would get that 5th star. read more

One of the few restaurants open on Mondays on Myrtle Ave. I've eaten here with my colleagues quite often in the past when I worked around the corner. Food is usually always good and service is great also. I recently came with my kids on their day off (MLK day) and we found a table in the front bar area right away. Our server was super and also made sure my son had the non breaded french fries due to his wheat allergies. My kids enjoyed their kids burger, brunch burrito and carnitas tacos. I love their tortilla chips and salsa that come with the meal. The only downside was my entree. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was really disappointing. The chicken patty was sooo thin, I barely tasted it. I later saw a yelp review that made a comment on the same thing, so I know it wasn't just me. The sauce and slaw was good, and if it came with a normal sized chicken patty, I'd rate it higher.
