This is our second time hiring the Semper Solaris. First we had a battery added to our solar system three summers ago and were very happy with the results. So when it was time to replace our roof we decided to get Semper Solaris once again since they are authorized to remove/replace the Solar system as well as offering a 50 year warranty on the roof it was nice to have one company handle the entire project including gutters. We were not disappointed.The crews were prompt , efficient and clean. Our project manager Timothy worked out our issues with the internet antenna and satellite dish.He coordinated the entire operation. The different phases were very well coordinated. I was excited to be a little greener and because I am a veteran myself and decided to get our solar installed by a veteran owned company. In addition to producing our own clean energy, we were told this would save us money. The install service was mediocre and chaotic. They didn't paint the pipes to match the house. Our HOA dinged us for that and I had to ask them to come back out to correct it. Since our house is three levels, no one goes on that roof. This year's storm caused a bad leak, caused by the work they did. The water was somehow even leakigg my out of the system itself in our garage on the first level. How?!?! We have spent THOUSANDS more than we would have without solar!! No one from the company bothered to tell me about the solar edge app so one year we produced ZERO ELECTRICITY because the system was off and I had no idea until we got the $4600 bill at our tru up due date. We have NEVER seen savings. We pay thousands every year at our tru up time and wish I could get rid of this system!!!! DO NOT GET SOLAR FROM THEM!!!!!!! I can only imagine how much longer it would take to solve my issues without the intensely supportive Cherice Hess to help me. Here is the real kicker, this was a New ADU for my Korean War Veteran brother-in-law who is 92 yrs. young and this was only for 6 panels on a 620 sq. ft. ADU. My husband and I were looking into getting solar this year. We google searched companies near our location and Semper Solaris popped up. Doing research on the company we found that it was a veteran owned business (which my husband latched onto since he's a veteran himself) and they carry many of the same morals and values within their business practices my husband holds dear from his time in service, so we decided to get an estimate. We received a call from an Alex Thomson-Corrao and honestly we couldn't have been luckier Alex was amazing he was very knowledgeable in the industry. He helped us crunch the numbers to see the value in the system for our energy needs. He went over how solar systems worked and tied into battery storage and the grid. He even helped us with looking into the incentives and rebates that were available at the time. He was very proffesional, freindly and understanding, but most importantly patient with us since we came at him with a million questions being first timers shopping in the solar industry. Unfortunately we did not go with getting a system because financially it was just not a right fit at this time, however we will definitely keep Solar Solaris as a business to go to when we decide to take the leap at a later time. I had my panels installed by Semper Solaris in October 2022. But getting my panels connected to the PGE grid took 7 1/2 months after that, during which time my PGE bill savings on this expensive system was about $10 a month. About 45 days of that delay was PGE's delay, the rest was all on Semper Solaris's department that handles the registrations with PG&E not doing their job. My assigned salesperson was remote, out of State, and was helpful until the installation, but acted like he resented hearing from my when I asked for help with his own department that wasn't doing their job during that long wait. Now, I'm having a dead panel issue. Ok, one panel out of 12 going down 3 years later is a decent result to date, no issue there. But getting them to take a look at the problem under their warranty (which they say is 25 years) is a painful experience with long hold times. Reps that call you back don't leave return contact information if they miss you, so you have to start calling in all over again. Just like your basic Comcast/Xfinity we really don't want to talk to you experience, except without a store you can make an appointment at. Though the installation itself was clean and done decently well, you can't talk to the subcontractor who did the installation. That's not how they work; they are just another big company that doesn't want to make it easy or even moderately easy to get your long-lived solar system maintained under warranty. In 2022 we spent over 150K purchasing nearly all of their products. We bought their roof, insulation replacement, gutters, gutter screens, solar panels, house backup batteries, and entire HVAC system with all new ducting. In the past few years we've seen two solar panels fail, and the replacement time is several months. The biggest failure is the HVAC. We bought the varible speed system. The AC is an Amana unit. Since it's install we've had Semper out every year as it's failed to cool the house. This system alone was nearly 30K, and was far from the best estimate we received. But we believed in their customer satisfaction. Here I am again, in July two summers later and it won't cool my house. I made a service call, and it took several weeks for them to come out. The latest time they can't figure out the problem. For two weeks, they tell me they're ordering parts- not true. They just called and cancelled today's visit- postponing the service call another week. No parts were ordered; they're just sending another tech. I bought a 30K AC, and my outdated one worked better. Their service is a joke; I would not recommend SEMPER SOLARIS. read more

We are having a serious issue with Semper Solaris completing our PG&E SGIP paperwork. This is URGENT. Our claim amount is over $10,500 dollars. We were told by Robert Cassidy our Sales Representative not to worry and that it had already been taken care of. That is copletey false and un-true. This is completely unacceptable. Our Semper Solaris project has been competely funded, and has been paid in full. See the important note below from the PG&E SGIP team. We received this update several days ago. On 12/4/25 the installers could not complete the project after putting up the panels and batteries due to darkness. They could not not come back the next day due to another scheduled project and scheduler would contact us to reschedule. It's been over week and no one has followed up. I emailed, text and left messages with the sales consultant Adrian who has not responded . I emailed and called customer service who said they'll pass it on and someone will contact us. Made the mistake of setting up an in person appointment on the Semper Solaris website to explore for solar, battery and potentially roof. As a Navy Vet, we thought this might be a good choice (We were wrong). Should have known this was going south when setting an appointment triggered multiple phone calls, emails, and texts. Come the day and time, receive a voicemail after the appointment indicating they were running late for our phone call? So far have been contacted by "Janice" "Brittany" "Alex" "Joanna" "Gina" and "Bill". We told them that }unless we hear from management on how badly our contact has been handled you have lost our business and we will go with someone else for solar, battery, and possibly roof" - Never heard back, not even an apology for the no-show. Our family got a large solar system and have ordered two batteries but only have the solar and one battery installed so far. Last year we went through the design process with a sales guy named Robert who was very responsive at the time and told us the quality of their install and service is why they're more pricey than other solar companies. We told them our goals for the system were to have the ability to have full home back up and enough stored power to handle a multiple day outage (with recharging and storage) given we've had such outages in the past. They assured us the system would be designed with those goals in mind. Then when the powerwall 3 came out with a higher power factor they said we could use one battery instead of two given the power available, however they neglected to consider the energy supply goals we'd previously told them were part of our goals. When they started construction in May we talked with the subcontractor and realized that their change order would make the system unable to meet the goals initially established we got a second change order to revert to the original two battery system. This was while the crew was still on site. In the time since then they forgot the change order was there despite having been paid for the second battery, stalled on the redesign to meet the initial goals, haven't had a project point of contact, and on the phase one of the project with the solar and first battery didn't fully clean up the site and repave after trenching through concrete. The system has not been reliably operating and service calls to get the system to be online have not lead to it being reliably working. Additionally it's now over 4 months later and we still don't have the second battery, we've had a dirt trench through the concrete path for months, don't have a primary point of contact on the project, and when we complain this is unacceptable for a 90k system we get customer service calls from staff who do not have direct project oversight to manage the problem. Once the sale was made there was no longer a primary person actually working with us, and the most responsive person working on the project was the subcontractor they had come to the site for the solar install who unfortunately can't fix the work order issues of Semper themselves. Based on this experience which is ongoing after months and the fact that in this time other friends in the neighborhood have had their solar quoted, installed, and working - I must assume this isn't a PG&E or permit issue and is instead a Semper issue. For a team that describes themselves as military personnel with honor and accountability their focus on getting the mission accomplished is subpar. I hope they turn around their focus and finish the install with satisfactory results given the huge price we've paid and the months of delay we've had - but until then I would suggest you find another vendor as they're not finishing the job for the customers they do have which seems like a cautionary tale for those seeking to get started. The individual humans have been kind but the work has been ineffective, communication is not managed for the client, and clients need to plan to do a lot of oversight as they're not detailed focused. read more

Disclaimer: This review is purely based on my 2 experiences trying to get a quote from Semper Solaris and ended up with not such a good experience and decided not to go with them. Second one was literally just a few mins ago. Warning: Ended up being a long summary - I would normally not write this without using their services but the sales experience was so bad, I decided to write this - Will summarize to keep this readable. Going from recent to older - Try #2 - yesterday / today - To Add Tesla Powerwall Batteries to existing Solar - I have a very clear design in mind of what I want - Called sales line, the agent took me through 15 mins of conversations filling up some internal form. - I politely tell him I am only looking for an appointment for someone to come out, look at our system and give us a quote. - One of the questions that ticked me off - He insisted that all decision makers be present for the appointment and if we made sure of that, he was adding a $500 discount. Mind you, this is WHILE booking for a survey / appointment. No details of the system, panel upgrades, etc. nothing yet. - I politely tell him again, please book an appointment. That is all I am looking for. He does that for 5pm today. Cut to today - - We get a random guy show up on our door at around 11am, knock on door and walk away shortly after. - I get back home from work at 4.45 and wait... for an hour! No one showed up! - Call their sales line - the agent apologizes for the miss. Says she will call back. No one calls back for about 45 mins. - Then the sales guy calls and says after some hmmmm haaaawing, what is your address - and says "house numbers were messed up in his system" and that he came back at 5.30. - I call him out saying I have been sitting with the garage open. No one showed up. Never mind and proceed to tell him what I am looking for. - He asks me how I found them and if I know Semper Solaris. I tell him about my first bad experience years ago (see below). He sounded a bit annoyed already. - He straight up asks me - what is he competing with for the business? What $$ numbers? - I am like - You have not even come here, looked at the system and already negotiating? - He proceeds to give me a baseline $$ number anyway (which by the way is way higher than the other quotes) - But I tell him, lets end this here. This is not going as I expected. - He literally cuts the line right there! Dropping the call! ------- Here is the previous experience. Try #1 - 10 years ago - shopping for Solar only - Sales guy comes in, pulls out a notepad, does hand-written numbers - Without me saying a word, already applies a bunch of discounts (a few thousand $). The pricing was the 2nd most expensive even after discounts. But that is fine. - Then the sales push starts to sign on the spot otherwise I am losing money ... and that ticked me off - I wanted some detailed technical questions answered about the system being proposed. Did not get confident answers. The sales push continued and I asked him to end the discussion there. They might be a good company install wise but based on these two interactions, would avoid them in the future even for a quote. read more

Tony was our sales person from Semper Solaris who showed up to discuss removing our no longer working battery that had been installed by a company who went out of business in 2024, as did the manufacture of the battery. We had had communication issues with the previous company and one of the first questions I asked Tony was, who is the lead person that I call if I need to talk with someone at Semper Solaris. Tony assured me that would be him and he would be with us every step of the way. I bought that line of bull hook line and sinker. I thought I finally found a company who would take care of their customers. We signed the contract in December and Tony indicated that it might take until January 2025 or February before the project was complete, due to upcoming holiday. I was okay that. Tony was pushing the Tesla batteries for replacement but I stated I wanted Enphase. Within the 5 day cancellation time, I had a concern and when I couldn't connect with Tony I contacted the company to indicate we may be cancelling the contract. Tony called me back and was upset that I hadn't spoken with him first. He answered my concern and we decided to proceed with Semper Solaris for the project, which included removing the non-working batteries and installing the new Enphase batteries. January 2025 came along and holiday time was over. I was unable to get a response back from Tony about the status of our project. I turned to emails and leaving phone messages for a return call. Mid January the permit and design plan was finally sent to our city's permit department for approval. The plans were rejected by the permit department as certain spacing and fire safety measures needed to be addressed. The response from the permit department was very clear and yet, it would take three more attempts before the company provided the correction to the plans that were requested back in January. The permit person even emailed asking Semper Solaris to call him so he could go over what he needed from them, so he could approve the plans. When the install crew came out in May (reminder we signed the contract in December 2024) they asked if we were going to be removing the non-working batteries. I advised them that our contract included wording that Semper Solaris would remove the batteries. They contacted the company who confirmed the crew was in charge of doing that. The van they brought was not big enough to handle all of the non-working batteries and it related equipment. When they left that day, they took as much with them as they could and left the remaining equipment on our driveway for removal the next day. Once the Enphase Batteries were installed we were good to go as we already had PTO from PG&E and this was just replacement of non-working parts. One of the things the crew needed to do was set up the communicate of the new batteries on the Enphase Gateway Envoy. I provided our WIFI information and in no time at all, the batteries were successful talking with the Enphase communication gateway. That however didn't last for long. In less than a month the Enphase Dashboard stopped working. I called Semper Solaris who indicated if they came out to check it out it would cost $499 for 2 hour service call and could be more if they needed to replace a part that they didn't carry on their truck. WTF? We had paid several thousands of dollars and didn't expect the monitoring system to stop working in just a short time from installation. We reached out to Enphase who actually answers their phones when you call. The nice representative who answered the phone figured out that there was an issue with their Enphase Gateway Envoy and indicated he would request a replacement be sent to us. In the meantime, he re-established communication via my mobile phone. Cost to us $0. Lesson learned Semper Solaris, though originally suggested by an Enphase person when our original batteries died, is not a responsible company to work with. Oh, if you are expecting a detailed invoice that shows all the pieces parts and itemized cost for each, they don't do that. They give you an invoice with no breakdown of the total cost of the project and no model, serial numbers to keep for future reference. I can not recommend this company. read more

We were very pleased with the quote received for roof replacement as well as removing and reinstalling our solar. We were provided with a point of contact (Timothy) for the roof project who was very responsive. The roof replacement was completed in two days and the crew was very good about cleaning up debris. The only part of the process that has been a bit clunky is the solar removal and reinstallation as we do not have a direct point of contact and are waiting to hear back on having the solar reinstalled. read more

Horrible company to work with, I have my solar system installed by them, I learned half of the system stopped working, inverters issues. Of course their monitoring systems never picked this up and I had to realize this as year charges were quite high. When I called them I had to agree to pay a substantial amount to get the inverters replaced. I agreed and started a contract with them a month ago, they charged the deposit immediately and since then radio silence, no one gets back to me, no sense of urgency nor customer attention. I would expect at a minimum someone to get back to me and set expectations on when the project would start instead its this awful customer experience where they leave customers hanging. read more

PGE however keeps telling me that Semper Solaris has not done all their steps. Was very communicative when they wanted my money and now that they have it...zip nada. I had roof re-done with Semper Solaris. I'll have solar next month, this review is for the roof job. All completed in 3 days, at week of my choosing. I was surprises in the beginning permit was accepted form the city in less than a week vs 6 weeks planned. It seems all the paperwork was done perfectly. I choose the date of installation as per my need, Semper solaris keep reminding me of the steps and dates. Very god communication. We got rain on the day chosen so tear out moved 2 days out. Crew showed up on time, 5 people to work on roof, very efficient. In 3 days roof was re-done completely including gutters. My roof was old and there was a good amount of dry rot: all replaced & painted, during the installation. Timothy did coordinate all the activities: we checked all the details of the roof on the first day during the tear-down. I still had some choice to make on the gutter placement & fascia . Timothy gave me some very good recommendation on those. One thing I did not plan is to cover all the items in my garage. Tearing down cause dust & some wood/nail fall off. Timothy went ahead and cover it for me with plastic sheet. I am glad he did that! Installed Owens Corning shingles, heat & sun reflective + ridge vents to take hot air out form the roof. I shall have a cooler roof and house this summer, will see in a few months. I really like they re-painted the vents in light gray, to match the shingles color. Those vents were orange/brown before, much better now. Everything went well, I am happy with my new roof & gutters. Crew was very professional and Timothy handled everything very well. read more

It would be less if there was a zero option. Sales said new system would supplement all that we use and that there'd be nothing anyone could do to revive our old system. Fast forward $55000 later, our refi proceeds depleted and new system produces less than a third of what's needed. Marine values have been absolutely BESMIRCHED! Communication is not consistent- unless its to collect MONEY. I've really never felt so cheated. Oh, and by the way, there was an easy fix to the old system for less than $1000- but then, what would that do for them-hmmm??? Suggest customers start with ENPHASE- the system that powers the solar and get their preferred installer recommendations. SAVE thousands! read more

SOLAR IS SCAM, I REPEAT, SOLAR IS SCAM!!!! They're liars!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. Do not waste 50k like I did. I got way more panels than I need for my house and 2 power walls. When I initially got my system worked decent for a about a year after that I did buy a Tesla and I went from have a small Tru up bill from PG&E to having a 2500$ PG&E bill so rather than spend 2500$ a year I had my wife finance add on to the solar system that she got through Tesla directly and was significantly cheaper but paid 28k dollars to add to the system. We figured rather than investing 2500$ a year to go to PG&E we decided to add on cause it was going to cost just as much i payments to the system addition as the tru up bill. After adding to my initial system so now I have 3 powers walls and 20+ panels and now I have a tru up bill of 4200$ so for a quick break down I'm paying 460$ a month for my system my wife is paying 300$ a month for her system and between both systems it costs 78k and I still have a tru up bill of 4200$ that's 9,100$ I'm paying a year in solar and 4200$ for a tru up bill that's 13,600 a year. Before this my PG&E bill in average was between 300$ to 450$ a month I'll just say I pay around 400$ a month on average that's about 4,800 per year now I'm paying 2.5 times that a year. This is seriously a scam I waited for so long to get solar and now they had all these options starting around 2020 but they don't work and I want my money back. The best part is when you call Semper Solaris they don't even have a a person to talk to they have someone who takes the message and sends it to them and they will get back to you in a few days. This is ridiculous! I spent way too much money to have to wait 3 days for someone to get back to me. read more

I decided to cancel the order on the fifth day as per the agreed-upon contract. I canceled the order via email and followed it up with a fax. I immediately got a very pushy phone call demanding a reason why I'm canceling the order. To me, that's not right. If a customer wants to cancel an order, you cancel the order. End of story. I also don't feel it's right for a company to hijack the security deposit until they get a reason. Again, a cancel is a cancel, that's it. What the conversation should have gone was "I'm sorry you wanna cancel. Would you care to give a reason?". And if the customer says no just cancel. You cancel. Stay away from this company!!!!! They were absolutely incredible during the sales portion of the process, and it has been a nightmare since. We got our solar panels and power walls installed and the installers would have just walked away from the project without giving me any idea of what to expect unless I would have asked as they were walking out. I was then told it would take approximately 2-6 weeks from install to have everything fully functional. I am moving onto TEN MONTHS since installation without a fully functioning system. I initially thought it was PG&E causing the delay, but one person who I worked with at PG&E told me that there would be 2-4 weeks before Semper Solaris would answer PG&E asking for some more information. Additionally, PG&E told me they would ask multiple times for certain information (literally they needed a yes or no answer), and they never received the answer. I started Working with Tony Delanda who I highly recommend. From start to finish the process as been very smooth. The solar removal was thorough and made sure each panel was safety stored for roof removal. Timothy came by to oversee the roofing, made sure no left over trash was left after removal. I selected Semper Solaris to work at my place because there are solar panels installed 11 years ago. Other companies requested to have the solar panel vendors to remove the panels to work on the roof. That was not possible since the original vendor was acquired by another solar panel company. Semper agreed to do the job. At the beginning was a little challenging to set the initial appointment and communication across the different groups. Once the contract was signed, everything was smooth. I found they were flexible and communication also improved substantially, the shared the steps and timeline and for the different parts of the project. Timothy was excellent in managing expectations and schedule changes due to rain. Once the project started, everything run as described, Jose Pineda was the lead installer, knowledgeable and detail oriented. He didn't mind answering questions and explaining what he was doing. The inspections underwent flawlessly, the work was nicely finished. Jose picked up and removed all the debris and the rest of the materials, leaving the area around the house clean. The last part was reinstalling the solar panels which was done in a couple of hours the scheduled day. Also the next day rained overnight, so it was confirmed the roof was working as expected. After we signed our contract with Semper Solaris to have a roof replaced, we have had extreme difficulty getting our roof scheduled. It's beyond the contract date and I wasn't able to get a hold of the scheduler or sales person for over a month. I've now trying to request a refund for our deposit and have sent three emails to Semper read more

Warning. Have done 2 projects with semper. While they present well, when I later discovered that their work was out of code, they will not return my emails or calls, and are avoiding all responsibility for the problem they have left. read more

A little over a year later and my roof is leaking, right under ten of the fifteen panels Semper installed. The roofing contractor who put a tarp over the leaking area -- and who will be installing a new roof later this year -- called the roofing repairs Semper did after the solar panel installation a "hack job". All I can say is don't buy the "ooo-rah" TV ad BS, and don't let these people near your roof. I'm sure Semper will respond to this unflattering review. All I can say is, if you have to have a staffer who's job is to rebut bad review, your business is doing something wrong. read more
