recently visited Selma Mazda with my fiancé to purchase a car, and while Chris and Tony initially came across as friendly and helpful, our experience quickly turned frustrating and disappointing. From the start, any minor pushback or questions we had seemed to make them overly sensitive. In my opinion, they became defensive when we chose to independently verify numbers and details rather than simply taking their word for it. As customers, we expected transparency and patience, especially on a significant purchase like a vehicle. Instead, we felt pressured and that our due diligence was viewed as an inconvenience. Even more concerning, we specifically asked them not to proceed with certain actions, yet they disregarded our requests and did them anyway. This lack of listening and respect for our boundaries left us feeling unheard and undervalued throughout the process. While the dealership may have competitive inventory, the sales approach from Chris and Tony made what should have been an exciting purchase feel stressful and unsatisfying. I would caution others to be prepared to stand firm and double-check everything if working with them. If it wasn't for Mario and Jessica and their positive attitudes we probably would have taken our business elsewhere. Tony and Chris did not even speak to us even after our purchase. Do not trust this dealership -- shady and dishonest management. I purchased a brand-new car here, and only after finishing all the paperwork did I notice a crack in the front windshield before leaving the lot. They immediately promised to fix it. What followed was a frustrating back-and-forth just to try to schedule the repair. Then, after a change in management, they treated me as if I was lying. I even showed them written documentation clearly stating they would replace the windshield -- yet they still refused to honor their word. BEWARE. Selma Mazda owes me $500 from my June 2024 purchase of a 2024 Mazda CX-90. I previously bought a 2021 Mazda CX-5, so I was entitled to receive the rebate. After doggedly pursuing the rebate every month, I am NO CLOSER to receiving the funds. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. When I purchased the vehicle, brand-new, it was covered with a large layer of dust, so when I drove it off of the lot, I did not notice the SCRATCHES above the passenger door, nor the water STAINS on the hood which they tried to fix, but could not. So my BRAND NEW car came damaged. I have since heard or spoken with others who had a negative experience at Selma Mazda, and they tell me to visit another brand. This is not the first time he has demonstrated poor customer service and I'm sure it won't be the last time. It's obvious he is not able to multi task, communicate well with customers and loses his patience when he is overwhelmed. His behavior should not be tolerated by management and needs to be corrected immediately or let go from the company. If I can give anybody any advice do not buy a car from Selma Mazda. From the dishonest finance manager to the absolutely horrific customer service in the service department, it has ended up being a very frustrating situation. As a an older female, I went in to buy a Mazda CX90 by myself. The salesperson was fine, once I got into the finance department the car was almost $10,000 more than what the sale price was. I understand the usual finance charges, etc, but without even discussing the extended warranty, the prepaid oil changes and gap insurance, the finance manager just added it on, hoping that I wouldn't notice. I did and asked him to remove the extra charges. I ended up calling the general manager and he did attempt to make the situation better but still backed his finance employee even though he was dishonest. A few months after purchase I brought my vehicle in because of a faulty infotainment center. Mazda settled a class action lawsuit for the infotainment centers not working properly previously. I called for 2 weeks trying to reach the service department with no return calls and finally called Mazda Corporate and miraculously I got a phone call back for scheduling. The 3 times I brought it in for repair, Anthony was dismissive and condescending. Each time he told me that it is fixed and each time I left the dealership and on the way home the same thing happened. After I brought the car in for the third time and it was not fixed, he said that they sent the data off to Panasonic and the stated the issue is with my phone. I called Mazda Corporate, they took down all my information but said that they will back their dealership even though they have had significant issues with their infotainment centers. I purchased a new phone which cost me about $1,000. Well, the same issues are going on even with a new phone. Mazda will not help me with this and I have obtained legal representation to have this matter resolved. With the exception of the general manager, I have never dealt with a more unprofessional, dishonest and condescending dealership. Well, I'm not even sure where to begin with this one... In this day and age where so many options exist for online vehicle purchasing, I was a little naïve to think that an actual car dealership may provide an elevated level of customer service as a means to keep the in-person dealership experience alive. It's, to a lesser degree, like online sales (think Amazon) versus brick and mortar retail. The fate is inevitable, but you still hope that the brick and mortar would find the one edge over online shopping that would keep it alive - providing good customer service. In the case of Selma Mazda, I was DEAD WRONG. Spoiler alert, I still bought a new car from them (yes, I know, shame on me for not having the gall to walk away. What can I say, I'm a glutton for punishment). I'm not sure Yelp will allow me enough space to really air out my frustrations, so I will keep this short and simple. The customer service was some of the worst I've experienced. Aside from all of the general disdain for dealerships and dreaded car salesmen jokes - Selma Mazda is the epitome of why that disdain and jokes exist. I had high hopes going into it, and I will skip all the boring details other than to say I am now talking with the General Manager of the Selma Auto Mall. Perhaps, my issues will be resolved and if so, I am not above revising my review. But for now, we'll begin with 1 star and see if Selma Mazda has any desire to bump that number up. Stay tuned... P.S. Not Good might be over rated. Impossible to get ahold of anybody in the service department. Called many times and left many messages and finally they called back after complaining to the manager. Stay away from CX5 Vehicles (all years), the engines heads have a known defect (Sa-031-21) of developing cracks causing engine water and oil leaks. Mt car is a 2018 CX5 with 50,000 miles and now with a cracked engine head. Mazda wants $5600 for the repair. Selma Mazda known for the 200,000 mile warranty, well is worthless. I was denied because I could not come up with all the oil change records and receipts. I am a mechanic and I will not take my car in for an oil change and I lost most of the receipts. An engine health check is easy to perform to check the engine for proper maintenance if they were truly concern. The 200k warranty is just anther way to keep you coming back for services. Mazda has many law suits related to crack heads in the works, hopefully one will cover my car. Meanwhile I still need to come up with $5600 to fix a known manufactors defect. I have to get it fixed, but not at Selma Mazda. read more

On 03/03/19, I took my parents and I to Selma Auto Mall as I could not decide on what Brand of car I wanted. I was leaning on Honda Insight as I do a lot of freeway driving and looking for something with high MPG. Anyways we parked by Kia and started our search from there. My parents and I were greeted by Kia staff members who inquired what I wanted. Which all I knew I wanted something Sporty, Red and in my budget. So, the sales representative took us through some Cars...mid way through our Auto Rep has an appointment with another customer so a guy name Christian was our new helper. So we took a test drive in a new Kia something 2019. Driving a brand new car felt so nice and it is perfect that the 99 is nearby, I felt like speed racer in this car. Anyways my parents loved it and was like let's go but I told them I wanted to try out a few more cars before I settled on one, I love to have options and compare. Anywho, Christians supervisor came out to greet us and showed us some Kia Stingers which if I was a big Balla I so would have test drive it but it was way out my budget. I told Christian that I wanted to go to Honda so he like let's take the Kia over. In passing Chevrolet, we had to pass Selma Madza which I told Christian that we can stop here and check out the Madzas as I wanted to see the new Madza 3 2019s. So we get out and was greeted by Selma Madza staff. The staff was very friendly. I wanted to test drive the Madza 3 in red and everyone piled inside, it was very cramped. I go try to turn on the car and it didn't start -_- bad sign. So we all get out of the car. My parents and I were very shocked that a new car battery already died. The Madza staff was definitely giving us an explanation. So the Madza staff suggested that we try another Madza but I opted not to as if it is crammed for my parents then it will definitely not be a good fit for me. Anyways the Grey Metallic Madza 6 caught my eye which is a 2018. The Madza staff reported that I would have a lot of fun with it and I did! I was so amazed at all the gadgets that the car had. I could see the speed I'm going on the road as well as road signs. Not only did that win me over but the drive of the car and safety features. I fell in love with her. The staff treated my family and I like royalty and made sure I was satisfied each time. My parents loved the car and felt it was a good fit for me so it was a keeper! The paper work and process was a long time, which Joes did a splendid job at. Other staff assisted as well. The Big boss threw in a few extras as well. I could not be happier! I got an amazing deal which I'm satisfied with and will definitely recommend to come here and get your car here. Staff is amazing and friendly no pressure at all throughout the whole process. I love that you can service your car here. I'm such a happy camper. I love my new Princess Mobile and can't wait to see what other places she takes me and all the memories that would be created! My company purchased a company vehicle, Mazda CX-5 for delivery to this dealership and the vehicle was not inspected or operational. Told they completed the necessary initial inspection. I was hung up on and didn't receive call back or communication regarding my concerns. Told I can go to any Mazda service center for service. The good: I come here to get the occasional servicing done on my vehicle. I choose to come to this one since the one in Fresno doesn't even answer the phone. The folks here, on the other hand, are super friendly and easy to deal with. Getting work scheduled here is a breeze. They also have a really nice waiting room with wifi, extra-plush lazy-boy style chairs, and a big TV. They had someone come by and bring everyone warm cookies and there was a popcorn machine. The service got performed quicker than they said it would be. The meh: For whatever reason, they opted not to check my brake pads while they were changing my brake fluid. The bad: The prices are about what you'd expect from a dealership (about 50% more expensive than you could get it done elsewhere). Update: taking off one star, as a few weeks after I had my coolant flushed here, I checked my coolant level and it was below the Low level. They didn't bother to put enough coolant in! I also found other stuff that they didn't bother to check. When I take my car in for overprice service at a dealership, I'd expect them to at least take a quick look at everything, but this seemed to be a rushed job. read more

I went through several dealers this past month and while all dealers are focused on making $$$ off their customers none were as deceitful and fraud as the folks at Selma Mazda. The salesman Shantel was non-professional and hardly had any knowledge about the vehicles. I am a female who went by herself to buy a car but I had done my research and knew well about the car buying process and the fair price of the CX 3. They had advertised a deal on their website. I even emailed them to confirm the price before driving to their location. They added fraudulent fees and increased the amount by almost $9000 than what was advertised and discussed over email!!!! The monthly payments also didnt make sense and were adding up to be way higher than the total price. They assume their customers are dumb and give nonsense explanations when you question them on the numbers. The manager Al and salesperson both were telling me different answers. I walked out and was able to buy the same car at another dealer for a price difference of almost $8000 than what Selma Mazda had quoted me!!!!!! Their sales manager called me the next day , apologized and quoted a lower price but I honestly dont trust this place at all after my experience and it was still a lot higher than the price I found at other dealers! Do yourselves a favor and go to other dealers even if it means having to drive a little extra to go to Modesto or Fresno. You will save a lot of $$$$ and the headache and your time! read more

I received a recall repair notice and had to go to the dealership for the fix. Since there's no Mazda dealership in Visalia, I made my appt online at Selma Mazda. I was greeted by the service tech, Pedro, as soon as I parked. He took me inside, printed the paperwork and told me the fix would take approx 1 hour. I went to lunch nearby and got a call in about 50 minutes that the fix was done and car was ready to be picked up. He was helpful, polite and explained things well. I fully intended to post a scathing review of our very negative experience here; and I am still going to recommend that you NOT patronize this dealership, especially for repairs. However, I need to give credit to Pedro, the gentleman who made our service appointment and did the paperwork on our problem. He was sincerely kind, professional, and thorough, and he even gave us a discount coupon for lunch at the Spike and Rail. After recounting my frustrations three times, to different people at Selma Mazda,eventually, the service manager Dave, (I believe?), was willing to placate me by refunding our $135 which we had paid for the diagnostic testing that was done. I believe this was due in part, to the fact that we found out the diagnostic results were WRONG. Mazda told us that we needed a new battery when we really DID NOT!! We spent $130 on a new battery, only to find out that the O2 sensor was actually the problem; which we had repaired at an outstanding automotive shop in Visalia. All in all, an extremely disappointing visit to Selma Mazda which convinced us of the fact that we should never go back. I've found a certified Mazda mechanic in Visalia where I'll do all my repairs from now on. I'm willing to settle for the refund of the diagnostic fee and be thankful that I have a nice, new battery. I feel fairly certain that had I not confronted Dave and forcefully recounted our negative experience, we wouldn't have received any refund for our trouble. We wasted an entire afternoon off work, at our expense, drove over 100 miles to and from Selma Mazda and purchased a new battery at Napa in Visalia; which thankfully was over $100 LESS than the same quality battery at Mazda. All this and our car was still not fixed. Frustrating to say the least. read more

I will start by saying I LOVE my Mazda CX-5! This was the first new car I have ever had, and I wouldn't have picked another car. With that being said, I am beyond frustrated with the company. I am not typically a person that writes reviews, but if I can spare one person the emotion and grief that I have been dealing with for over a month now, then it will be worth it! Over a month a go I brought my 2016 Mazda Cx-5 to Selma Mazda, where it was purchased, to have two recalls fixed and an oil change. I then let the service manager Larry know that the weather stripping in the direct center of my windshield had somehow lifted. He mentioned that he had never seen anything like that before, and that he would send it to the claims to have it determined if it was something they could fix. He said he would get back to me as soon as possible. I was at about 34,000 miles, and he made sure to tell me that even though I alerted him of this problem before the 36,000 mile warranty, that there was nothing that would be done if I went over that amount. I let him know I had several weekend trips coming up and he said that we were in a time crunch then. I feel like there was not much concern showed. Well over two weeks passed with no contact from the dealership. On my trip home from the coast, I heard the weather strip begin to flap again, and before we knew it there was a straight line crack exactly in the center of the weather stripping. I called Larry Monday morning first thing to explain what had happened. He told he he would contact the decision makers and call me back. I was at work when he called and all he did was leave a message that stated the claim was denied and if I wanted to call customer service with additional questions I could. This was very upsetting, since I feel like there was no urgency on their part to fix this problem, or to even let me know if it could be fixed. Within one day my windshield began to further crack. I of course called customer service and spoke with a supervisor. I was told over and over again that the weather stripping lifted due to outside influence. I explained that this didn't make any sense since there was no other issues or damage to my car prior to the cracking after the fact. The people that denied my claim never actually saw my car, and there is no way to for sure say that it was outside influence. This was their attempt to hold me off until I reach my 36,000 miles so that they could then claim that I was outside of my warranty. I have called and spoke to a new service manager, and again there seemed to be no concern for my concerns or issues. I asked to speak to his manager which I was reluctantly given the number for, which I left a message for several days ago with no return call. I have run out of outlets to try and rectify a problem that I truly believe was a defect, and not my fault. I purchased a new car because I was having a baby and I wanted the safest car I could find, with a warranty that helped me sleep easy. However I seem to no longer be a priority since they already have my money. I am so dissatisfied and appalled that I would never recommend Mazda of Selma to anyone. read more

We recently visited this dealership with the belief that we would get a deal because we were told we would over the phone. We drove from Fresno to test drive a Mazda 3 and liked it. We got close in negotiations but walked away because we didn't get close enough. A few days later we decided we would accept the deal and drive back down there. We sat down and looked at paperwork. There were extras on there which is nothing new at just about any dealership. There was a Lowjack option written in for 955 extra that we did not want. We said we were fine with everything but did not want the lowjack. He insisted that it could NOT be taken off under any circumstances. We were told that it was on EVERY new car. I knew it could and did not like being lied to. We went outside and talked about it deciding we would walk back in and again told them we were going to shop elsewhere because we didn't want the LowJack. We walk out and they practically chase us saying they would take it off the deal. Of course they would... we said it is not about that anymore and left. It turned into an issue of enjoying buying the car and trusting the dealership which we did not. Later they called us asking what they could do to earn our business. We had negotiated the price of the car to 20,000 and decided we would buy the car for 18,000. There were 2 of us and im not sure if they ever got that message. The next day I took care of family business and continued shopping. We got the same car in LA for 3,000 less than the 20,000 that Selma insisted would cause them to lose money. Selma mazda, dodge, jeep, ram doors NOT have good prices. They do NOT have good service. They do NOT believe in honesty. The extras that they attempt to force onto the bill do NOT have to be included. Do NOT let them walk all over you. Use the car guru app and shop around we saved 3k on the deal by driving to LA. We made a day of it and enjoyed our car buying experience. All things we were not getting at Selma and we saved money. In the long run I suppose we should thank them because if they had taken the low Jack off we would have over paid by 3k. 17k in LA 20k here. No brainer for anyone who can make the trip. read more

Yes, they helped me out with having low payments, but once I left happy with my car I realized I'm getting NO credit for the $260 payments I'm making every month, but my co-signer is getting all the credit, and now I'm a few thousand dollars in and absolutely no "good credit" to show for it.. Not only that, BUT the man who sold me my car began texting me, inviting me out places with him after KNOWING I'm engaged AND asking him plenty of times to please stop.. After waiting so that guy can check on that price given, he passed us to another guy saying that he has an emergency.. The next guy couldnt get the price they told us either and passes us to another guy! I swear! We should have walked out already and we were about to! Until this next guy said that he will give the price we were offered at and showed that on paper but he couldnt give us a car with a VIN number. He said they will get it from another dealer! When asked what happened to the other two dealers, he said the first one had an appointment (I thought he had an emergency) and the second one went home for unknown reason (note my husband said he saw this second guy still around at the dealer). Then, finally someone offered us to take a test drive of the same car but a different color with a higher price! He acted so disappointed that we were never offered to test drive. After all that, we have decided we will do it cuz at first it looked okay. Then, we were offered the newest model they had with only a few more bucks! Then after several questions regarding the price difference between the both cars, we were tired and just said we will just get the original one we really wanted. We wrote a check to hold the car even though we were told that the price might change depending on where they get the car from. Once we got home really late at night, thought about it, did more research.. we called the next day and we were told that there is an extra fee for something. So in the end, they still didnt give us the price they offered us over the phone in the first place. AND they were giving us a monthly price way over than what the calculation in their website gave us! So we had to go back and get the check we gave so we can hold that car they didnt have in the first place! SOME FISHY BUSINESS AND FISHY DEALERS! BEWARE! I totally understand that dealers have to make money. But come on! Give us what you got without deceiving us. If that's the price you can offer, So be it! On that note, we didnt get a car here and we will never ever . How can we get a car to a place where we were lied to in front of our faces and not treated properly! We spend hours there, took forever to be offered a test drive and never got offered water or snacks! Nothing! Our credit was pulled! Biggest mistake ever! IN RESPONSE*** I'm glad to hear that you guys were not trying to be deceiving. Although, it is really hard to believe that. I also feel bad for whoever that person you said is fired because that is really something we would never wish for. But we talked to about 4 different customer representatives, including the one who gave us the price over the phone! IF YOU REALLY COULDNT GIVE THE PRICE YOU TOLD US, LIKE YOU SAID IT WAS $2K DIFFERENCE, THEN JUST TELL US INSTEAD OF STILL TRYING TO MAKE A DEAL LIKE IT WAS ACTUALLY A DEAL! We were even offered a 2019 CX-9 Grand touring instead of the 2018 for only $9 more monthly and was told it would be the same MSRP? Does not makes sense?! Please tell me how can you conclude that that is not deceiving? Our experience was so horrible that it really ruined our day, wasted our time, and made a horrible dent on my credit (didnt know and was not told as being a first time buyer that my credit will be pulled at least 3TIMES by different banks). With that, I would never come back here and strongly advise against coming here. Our nephew got a 2018 CX-5 from Fremont Mazda! And he was very pleased with our recommendation! If you want to service your Mazda go anywhere else but here. If I could give a half star or zero stars I would. The service department has been jerking my family around for a year for service on a part that's been installed and paid for, for a year. Finally, today they tell us to bring it and it will be finished. After my car being there all day we are told some lie about our phones not being compatible with the part. The absolute worst part about all of this was dealing with their service representative Pedro. I have no idea where he was trained or who taught him how to provide customer service but he was as patient and helpful as a three-year-old, and I know three-Year-olds who could handle the situation better. He argued with me multiple times, gave me attitude and made the issue sound like it was my fault as the customer. This is the absolute worst service I have ever had, I will never service my car here again, or purchase from Selma Auto Mall ever. read more
