My daughter got her first car!! Super exciting…read more 10 years ago, I purchased a car from this Carmax. I had such a great guest service experience that we came back for her car. The car buying process was so easy. This location also has a nice selection of cars to choose from. Abu greeted us immediately and was able to help us get everything done. He was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great and memorable experience.

Do not buy a car from CarMax Laurel…read more Last month, my husband and I purchased a 2025 VW Atlas Crossport from this location after paying to have it transferred from the Dulles, VA store. One of the biggest selling points was that, despite being used, the car looked nearly brand new. Two days after purchasing it, we took the vehicle to our local mechanic for a multipoint inspection. CarMax told us that although they inspect vehicles transferred from other locations, they are not obligated to share the inspection results or disclose any maintenance or repairs performed before the sale. They couldn't even confirm whether the car had received an oil change. Our mechanic identified a few maintenance items that should have been addressed before the vehicle was sold. We brought the car and the report back to CarMax, and they agreed to complete the repairs at no cost. A few days later, when we returned to pick up the vehicle, we immediately noticed multiple scratches that were not there when we purchased it. Some were several inches long and had gone through the clear coat. A service technician acknowledged the damage and suggested it was probably caused by the car wash they use, as if this was a common occurrence. We were told the scratches could be touched up and would no longer be noticeable. After yet another trip to the dealership, the scratches were still obvious. We spoke with the service manager and requested compensation for the damage that occurred while the car was in their possession. They offered to explore repainting the affected panels, but admitted that matching the color perfectly would be difficult and could potentially make the appearance worse. They refused to provide any financial reimbursement, stating that because the vehicle was already used, they could buy it back and resell it for the same price we paid. CarMax acknowledged that the damage occurred while the vehicle was in their care, yet they refused to compensate us for the diminished value of the vehicle or for the repeated inconvenience of multiple trips back to the dealership. The entire experience made it clear that once the sale is completed, customer satisfaction takes a back seat. Save yourself the frustration and buy from a dealership that values accountability and customer service--not just closing a transaction.

Don't buy from here. I live in CA and found a 2011 ford Raptor online. I asked them to send a walk…read morearound video of the truck. The salesperson did, but hid all the rust damage from me. They shipped me the truck after I spent $1,500 for shipping and I see the rust damage on arrival. Among that, main valve in the transmission had to be replaced along with a leaking right rear axle seal. The tires are dry rotted and cracked as well. They refuse to pay for new tires. They didn't disclose that the truck needed new tires. They offered that I buy tires from a distributor at a discounted rate, but they are underrated tires for the truck. They also installed a cheap aftermarket head unit that did not work. So I had to spend about $700 to put a new head unit in. The transmission and leaking seal cost me approximately $4,000. New tires will cost me about $2,300 This dealership is horrible. Do not buy from them. Take your money elsewhere. I spoke with the "manager" and he refused to take responsibility for the dealerships negligence. I know in California, the tires would have been replaced immediately before sale. Avoid this place at all cost.

Literally 30 DAYS after buying this car I began to have transmission issues. Luckily my warranty with my creditor covered a new transmission. Dealer would only cover 50% of costs and was not helpful. Their level of communication near ceased after I expressed my frustration. (Would have me on hold for long periods of time, kept saying I would receive texts and calls back but received none.) Since then I have kept up on oil changes/regular maintenance however 6 months later I am having the same issue, not to mention a plethora of other things falling apart (window motors, sensors, other electrical issues). My first time buying a car from a dealer and by far the worst quality car l've ever owned. There's always a risk buying a used car, however, none of my other cars l've purchased at auction or from regular people on Facebook market ever gave out on me 1 MONTH after buying. Those cars lasted me for years. I'll give them their one star because Glendy was very nice and she made the initial experience very easy. Good salesmen/ women, bad vehicles. My experience is only mine however I would save yourself any of this kind of trouble and look elsewhere. Can't even truly express my frustration with this entire experience. xoxo. EDIT: after not one but TWO new transmissions, the second paid for out of pocket, this car is having the same issue.. I'm paying hundreds & thousands of dollars for the car note, insurance, repairs.. all for a car I can barely drive to and from work without having the same issue. speaking with a lawyer and looking into taking them to court at this point. DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. BUYERS BEWARE. this was supposed to be an upgrade for me, my first nice car from a dealership. & instead it's nothing but headaches, tears, and im out of thousands of dollars. DO NOT BUY YOUR CAR FROM HERE.

The company charged me $89.95 diagnostic fee and advised me in writing that the problem was low on refrigerant due to the compressor leaking; needing replacement. Nothing was mentioned about any other repairs being needed. On June 10, 2022 I returned and authorized the repairs on my car and upon completion of the work, went home to find the repairs not fixing the problem. I subsequently called Performance back and told them that it is not fixed and arranged to come back on June 13th and waited approximately two hours for them to fix it. When I got the car back and drove home, it was evident that the unit was still not blowing cold air and called them back and brought my car back in on June 16th and again on June 30th. Spending all total about 8 hours of my time waiting for PROPER repairs to be made. Never being told what was wrong at any time no given a receipt for what repairs were made after the compressor work was done. Finally, I sent an email on July 2nd to them and followed up Tuesday July 5th with a phone call where I talked to the dispatcher and told her that I want my money back and I don't have confidence in the shop. Now they say because the car is old the system should be replaced but they can not state specifically what is wrong. When it was cooler out there was slight cool air at first. Now it is HOT air. Beware of this company as this is highly unethical and unprofessional and not the way customers should be treated. When you give an estimate to fix something, EVERYTHING should be in the estimate; not coming in after the fact and try to b.s. your way through a botched repair.

Our issues began *days* after the 90 day warranty. To quote the dealerships reply: "You're problem. Not ours." We have cases open with the Attorney General's office, a complaint has been filed with the BBB, and we will continue to share our experience through every review we can find. PLEASE - if you have a similar story, file complaints to the offices mentioned above.
