I love my Mercedes, but because it's an older diesel model (GLK 250 BlueTec), some dealership…read moreservice departments can be a bit predatory--trying to subtly push me into buying a new vehicle. The team at Euro Motorcars in Germantown, however, provided outstanding service without ever making me feel bad for loving my older car. That commitment was put to the ultimate test with a persistent, tricky check-engine light. I had brought the car in for the same issue over an extended period, and the initial fixes just weren't resolving it. When I brought this frustration to their attention, they didn't treat me like a difficult customer. Instead, they simply doubled down on making it right. They kept my vehicle--and kept me in a brand-new loaner--until the issue was fully resolved. It took several months, including a master service call directly to German engineers. Throughout the entire process, communication was stellar. I received regular updates, had a long, reassuring conversation with the Service Director, and was even invited to talk through the mechanics directly with the technician working on my car. Because the diagnosis was so complex, they made some initial missteps--and rather than passing those costs on to me, they absorbed them entirely. It is rare for a business to take a frustrating situation and turn it into a genuinely positive experience. Hats off to the service team at Euro Motorcars for living up to the Mercedes ideals of quality, craftsmanship, and integrity.

Jeff was an outstanding sales rep. From the time I called on Monday evening until he dropped my car…read moreoff on Tuesday night he provided nothing but the highest level of customer service I have been privy to in a very long time. He answered my seemingly incessant questions about the car and how a lease works. He not only answered my questions i a timely manner, he was willing to text and chat until I was content. When I found a road block he worked with me to get through it. Not only an amicable solution, he found a better car under my required monthly payment with more features than I anticipated. On Tuesday morning he came to pick me up at my store in Falls Church, VA (The Gun Dude) and drove me to Germantown, MD (because they don't sell electric Smart cars in Virginia) 45 minutes later. The conversation on the way to the store was stimulating and his energy was evident. At the car dealer he was very attentive to my every need. He offered coffee and water and served it to me not seconds after I was through the door. We even spent a few minutes learning how to install the panels on one of the model Smart cars. I took my new car (my first new car ever) for a test drive and was more than pleased with the product. Upon return we completed the papers, during which he very patiently answered every question I had about the contracts, and when he did not know the answer he said as much...and then went to find the answer!!!!! I wish this guy worked for me, seriously. Once the lease paperwork was complete he walked me through the features of my new car and plugged it in for a full charge before I left. The charge took longer than expected so he gave me a loaner car to get lunch. While at lunch he realized the charge and detailing would take a bit longer than we anticipated so he gave me the loaner so I could get back to my business. He then drove my car to me (a 45 minute drive) and picked up the lender car at about 7pm. I highly recommend this Smart Center in Germantown and I strongly recommend you ask for Jeff if you want the best car buying experience of your life!!!

However, leasing a brand new Smart car from the manager, Jeff Greben, has been the easiest and most pleasant interaction I have had. I will most definitely return to Jeff in the future to get another car, whether it's a Smart car and or a Mercedes-Benz. I highly recommend getting a car from Jeff if you want to leave the dealership with a smile, knowing that you made the right decision about your purchase.

I knew Criswell's bad reputation; but, that was where I bought my car from years ago, and this was a free upgrade. I thought I would be safe. As no surprise to me, given their reputation, I received a call from my service person, Juan. He read a long list of concerns that they found that needed to be repaired. I wrote them down and told him that I would have my mechanic check it out. He also told me that they found a nail in a tire and could fix it for $35. While I didn't really trust him, I said to go ahead and patch that tire. An hour or more later I received another call from Juan. Surprise, they found another nail that needed patching. I told him to go ahead, all the while wondering whether they were patching anything and, if so, did they put the nail(s) into the tires. I arrived to pick up my car, ready to pay the $70. Lo and behold, additional charges were added for paperwork ($3) and materials used (rubber gloves, grease, etc.-$10). After arguing these add-ons, I told Juan that I was backed into a corner having to pay this because they had my car. He had a small smile on his face. I then complained to the cashier, who sent me to speak with Leslie. I told Leslie that I did not direct Criswell to do the inspection and should not be expected to pay for any part of it. She responded that I should have told them not to do so. When I said that I was not given that option, as I hadn't been told an inspection would happen, she responded that I would have known if I brought my car there more often! Ultimately, she took off the $10 charge. My mechanic checked out the car today. I am going to list the items Criswell said needing fixing, along with their costs. Those listed in capital letters were the ones that my mechanic confirmed as needing work: replace both rear tires ($672), ALIGNMENT ($150), balance both front tires ($50), brake flush ($250), transmission service ($360), spark plug replacement ($525), coolant flush ($270), and drive belt replacement ($380.40). More than $2000 worth of made up costs for a free upgrade. Ironically, the mechanic said that I did need an oil change. Had Criswell actually done an inspection instead of creating a fantasy list, that would have been a legitimate service that they could have provided. Lessons learned, even free isn't free at Criswell and don't trust anything the service department tells you.

$700 TO REPLACE A BATTERY THAT LASTED 18 MONTHS…read more King Volkswagen replaced my battery in January 2025. By August 2026, it failed after only 18 months. I was offered no discount, goodwill adjustment, or meaningful resolution toward the nearly $700 replacement. I escalated the issue to manager Dave Scott and requested a phone call. After multiple emails, Dave stated he was "not available for a phone conversation" and suggested I take my business elsewhere. After I paid and signed my paperwork on 8/13/2026, I asked Kaylee Cummins a routine question about a service coupon. Her response: "You fired me as your advisor, so you need to ask someone else." She refused to assist me and directed me to Melanie Thompson, who also declined to assist me and referred me back to management. What began as a prematurely failed battery ultimately exposed a much larger customer-service problem. This was, without question, the worst customer-service experience I have ever experienced. Based on both the service issue and, more importantly, how it was handled by employees and manager, Dave Scott, I would strongly advise against having your vehicle serviced at King Volkswagen in Gaithersburg, MD.

My sales person Simon was very kind and helpful. However, I did have some issues with one of the sales managers who made multiple mistakes and misinformed my sales consultant with the wrong numbers. The whole process took multiple days because they could not find the car that I wanted (Kona white AWD). Then they informed me that there was a Kona white FWD available which is obviously pricier. When I finally came in to seal the deal, I was told that the original 0% interest fee was now suddenly 2.2%. I felt frustrated and blind sided. On top of this, when I spoke with the sales manager over the phone, she was extremely aggressive and rude. If there is a mistake or complication, I don't believe that it is ever okay to put your frustrations on others, especially your customers. But overall I am very happy with the car. **Review of My Experience at Fitzgerald Hyundai in Gaithersburg**…read more I recently purchased a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe from Fitzgerald Hyundai, and while the vehicle itself is fantastic--boasting great comfort, design, technology, and a solid warranty--my overall experience at the dealership had its ups and downs. The day before my purchase, I visited the dealership to explore inventory and discuss potential deals. I was greeted by Marcus Ried, who helped initiate the process. I asked about the out-the-door price and any discounts available if I decided to make a purchase that day versus waiting until the next day. Marcus got his manager, Kevin, involved, and they agreed on a $1,000 discount off the sticker price. We verbally confirmed the deal, and I left knowing I would return the following day with my trade-in and all necessary documentation. Upon my return, I found my new car parked up front, ready for finalization. However, the process took longer than anticipated--about three hours--because Kevin informed me there was some confusion over the agreement from the day before. Despite Marcus verifying our deal, management seemed hesitant to honor it initially. After some back-and-forth, we managed to move forward, but the delay felt unnecessary given our earlier discussions. During the closing, I worked with a finance representative (whose name I regrettably forgot), and she made the process relatively smooth. I was offered various upsells, including the Fitzgerald VIP card for $799, which I declined based on my previous experiences with loaner cars being challenging to obtain. Once I drove off in my Santa Fe, I noticed a few issues that should have been addressed before delivery. There was a ripped lining on the headrest, stickers still on the car, and it was clear that the vehicle hadn't been properly detailed; even the windshield washer fluid ran out within four days. Overall, my experience highlighted some common dealership practices, and while Fitzgerald Hyundai initially seemed like the best option compared to other dealerships like Orisman of Laurel and Bowie and Hyundai College Park, the process felt convoluted at times. It made me question whether this truly represented "the FITZWAY" of doing business. Do your research and be prepared for some negotiation, but ultimately, I'm pleased with my new Santa Fe despite the bumps along the way.
