I have purchased two Honda Hybrid Accords from Criswell. The first in 2018 and the second last week. I've dealt with both Steve and Dominique. They were both gentlemen. The discussions were honest, and straightforward and went smoothly. No hard sell ever. I can't speak to their service department as Ive used another dealership for that for a long time period of time. But I know when it comes time for another car, it's likely to be a Honda from Criswell. Do your homework, know your prices, and it is okay to say you plan to buy today. If you don't like the deal - you can walk away. But I did like the deal. And Indid buy. And now Im happily driving a new accord hybrid. read more

Review based on Servicing - I brought in my 2018 Honda Accord for a standard oil change and tire rotation. Dropped it off around 1030 AM and if you don't wait there, they will put you behind those that are (fine - makes sense). I asked if I could get the car by 2PM. No problem. I started checking in around 130 and had to text my service agent multiple times to get a response back. By 2PM I still did not receive confirmation that my car was ready. After calling the front desk, they finally got back to me that they wanted to handle a recall item. Fine. By 4PM they had found two other issues. The service agents are not on top of responding back to you and their pick service is on call - so you can't set a time to be picked up. read more

I spoke to a representative on the phone just now at 2:40 PM on 5.21. I asked her questions, which she didn't follow and couldn't communicate an appropriate answer. I asked to speak to a manager and it seems she refused despite 2 attempts. There was a total communication breakdown. Also when I bought the car, the person in charge of finance tried aggressively to sell me a plan I did not need and his statements were disputed by the manager later on, leaving me to question the finance person's honesty. The sales people and manager were perfectly friendly, but the call today was quite aggrevating. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! Update 3/8: Called number for Sue, she said she would call back and haven't received a call back. The lack of respect and communication is out the window. I should have gone to Honda in Frederick, the first time. I truly believe they owe me what they owe me. Update: I have lost all faith with this dealership. I was told by Travis Brown, that I would be getting my refund for my GAP ( prorated ) and he would wait for stuff to be paid. The dealership for below initial post, had settled with a "good will" check for the way the problem came to be. Again this is unacceptable of them with the GAP refund and that Honda had deducted it from my payoff - again not in my contract and no where states that item. Please do not stress your time here, especially with this being the 2nd thing Travis Brown has done - not a good look. ---------- I have purchased vehicles from Criswell before and to include my Pilot back 2021. I give the dealership this rating because of a line item that was placed on the contract for $798 for splash guards and Wheel locks (wasn't on the Window Sticker at all). For respect for their time, the Finance Manager (who states his family knows Criswell personally and he probably can't ever be fired unless its way worst), auto signs my signature through the whole contract and doesn't mention this portion at all. He also explained that he sees my whole history and trade ins. I have emailed Andre and Kevin Szot, for a follow up and/or explanation, but have not heard back in the last 5/6 days. I would of hoped someone who of called or emailed me back. If i were you, I would find another Honda Dealership (Frederick area maybe). I also explained to Andre Turner that it would be sad to lose business with this Honda location, for future transactions and all together with the CRISWELL name. Over the past 20 years I've had five cars serviced routinely and have bought two cars from Criswell, but I've reached a point where I do not trust their workmanship and have grown weary of their argumentative customer service staff. I recently had Criswell do a simple tire rotation, but their inattention to detail resulted in a dangerous highway situation for me and caused $1140 in damages to my tire and wheel hub. An independent veteran mechanic assessed that lug nuts had not been tightened properly on the front driver's side wheel. He took photos, documented his findings, and I shared that with Criswell. I expected a degree of embarrassment and concern from Criswell that their negligence could have resulted in a life-threatening situation for me and my passengers; surprisingly instead, I got an argument. Grudgingly, they reimbursed me for only half of the cost, saying they couldn't understand how a wheel hub might have been damaged by a loose wheel rim banging up against it at highway speeds for miles. If their rotation and multipoint inspection from three days earlier didn't reveal any pre-existing damage, then I'm not sure how Criswell thinks it happened other than their obvious error. When I went in after a two-week wait to collect my partial reimbursement, I again relayed that I wasn't happy about this transaction result. I left a safe car with them for routine maintenance and was returned an unsafe car and responsible for the $600 difference for repairs. I expected an interested and concerned party hoping to mend differences, to make me whole on my inconvenience, and to keep my business moving forward; instead, I got another argument. My disappointment with Criswell has been building for a while now with increasing miscommunications, but I've stuck with them due to geographic convenience. Ultimately, though, this was the transaction that is convincing me to explore other service center options. Candidly, I'm astonished when a business in the service industry cares more about extracting maximum margin out of individual transactions than fostering a satisfied, repeat customer base. And I'm surprised that Criswell so easily dismissed my disappointment (not to mention my concern over their poor workmanship)--they truly couldn't have cared less that I was unhappy. I had a problem with my fuel injectors and they had to replace under warranty. Nice area to sit and wait for your vehicle. Something went wrong with the new injectors and had to bring it back. They took care of it but wished they had tested before I took home. Still the service dept was great and took care of it. Very nice service staff!! read more

Purchased a new 2025 Honda from Criswell Honda, and immediately had problems with a Sensor. Brough the car back the first time, and they had the car all day and then told me "we have to order parts to repair this". waited 4 weeks, and then came back a second time once they informed me all the parts were in. Dropped the car off the second time and they had it all day, and then informed me "oops, we don't have all the parts to fix this, we forgot to order one". waited another 4 weeks, and then brought the car back a 3rd time, and on the 3rd try, they changed their story and claimed that the broken sensor was caused by a dent in the car, and that it would not be covered under warranty???? If that's the case, why didn't they mention this new dent on the first or second visit???? This dealership does NOT care about the customer, is shady as hell, and will happily screw you over. Went in to check out CRV I saw online. Met salesman Uche and test drove car with him. Liked it so met with sales manager to talk numbers. After going back and forth, they wanted 1k more than my offer. II showed him comps on the market. He declined my offer and I left. Uche calls the next day and says to come back. His other manager is much more flexible and willing to give better deal. I ask for a hard number. He wouldn't do that but said "I promise we will make you very happy". Unfortunately I didn't catch it until the following week. When I called, they asked me to come in so that they "could make it right." I went in and spoke to a manager who told me that he could not do anything. When I told him that he had just a lost a customer over a couple of thousand bucks (we were in the market for another new car), he said, "we don't want customers like you." Don't read this if you like you family to be taken advantage of.... Send family members in for an A/C problem. 2012 CRV with PORT INJECTION engine having no issues at all except the A/C. Service person told them "ash was in the engine and they would need to get the BG induction cleaning option (platinum edition) to fix that and prevent problems. Car was driving fine. No hesitation, etc. 274.xx dollars. Then even though all the supplies used for the service were itemized...they added a magical 69.95 "shop supplies" item at the end. Run. Run and hide. I drove back to the dealership the next day and the service manager(Tania Joya, noted in these reviews by others, noted to me she had the power to refund me but would do so) was not interested in doing the right thing and said that service "could" be done on port injected cars ..... Not should...... I "could" change the oil every day too. This product is the perfect money maker for a dealership - they scare you, you get it, they bill a lot, and you cannot even prove they did it. No data ever exchanged hands about things - no data on "ash in the engine" just words and tone to scare. BG makes a good product but one has to wonder if their sales reps sell this angle too. Back to the story: If you value honesty, in my opinion, this is not a place to use for your hard earned money. On going back, no empathy and no "sorry, you are right".....so if you want GDI cleaning for your port injected car, they'll do it and tell your non-expert family members that they have "ash in the engine." Of course a naïve person will let that service happen....their service team is so full of poop. These kits were designed for GDI engine due to the fact they "can" cause carbon build up (Honda's GDI's frankly are not very bad at this.....Audi's are notoriously bad...). This is a very shady cash grab thing for a Honda dealer for a port injected car havving no symptoms and with the people coming in not complaining of anything related to induction issues. So, I now consider the place dishonest. And I am sharing my opinion here. Sure, one bad tech..but I brought it to the service manager's attention and she refused to accept port injections without issues should not get GDI services. Do you want "expertise" like that working on your car? Lack of integrity should be -1 stars (negative value). Mistakes happen. I went back the next day (in person) and asked for the service manager. No contrition at all. No "oops" sorry. No "that is for GDI's, your're right." This is what they WANT to do. Lots of other Honda dealers and specialists in the area - it is important to have your car serviced by people you trust. This review is due to choices the dealership chose to make with people who are not car experts. Caveat emptor. On google the owner replied and asked us to come back and give them another chance...sort of a "sorry you feel that way" kind of apology. They have the ability to contact me via my returning and giving my name to their service manager named above - she just handed my service records back to me and did not care. No intent ever to make it right...if they cared they would have done the right thing and they have failed (and have the ability to do it for sure) to do so. Lack of integrity. The exhaust system on my 2010 Element was rusting and the right front sway bar was broken. I could have taken my car to a garage for repairs using non-Honda parts including a new Catalytic Converter however my experience of doing this is: don't waste your time and money. Quality doesn't cost, it pays!!! My non-Honda brakes continue to squeal to this day every time I use them. Criswell Service Manager Greg McInvale went above and beyond the call of duty in getting both repairs made to my Element. Preceding diagnostic testing allowed Criswell to determine which parts needed replacement. All parts were pre-ordered prior to the repair. Leaving my Element with Criswell for the entire day was the way to go. Greg kept me apprised of the repairs during the day and sure enough, everything wrapped up as promised at the end of the day. I will be back to Criswell Honda for all future repairs to my 2010 Element, that's for darn sure! read more

I was in Maryland picking up my son's vehicle. On the way back home to ATL, the alternator went out so we took it to a tires plus. They were able to replace the alternator but unable to disconnect the after market alarm and advised that I take it to either Honda or a store owner that installs car alarms. I took it to Criswell Honda, they had the vehicle for 3 hours , I was able to see through their view window that the vehicle was NOT being worked on the entire time yet I was charged for three hours which was over $700 simply to remove a car alarm. I had out of town plates, a woman and trying to get back home and the alarm would not shut off and was draining the battery. they definitely took advantage of the situation. Just don't do it. We were shopping for a car recently, and stopped by Criswell, it is one of the closest dealers to us. I met a salesperson, and they showed me what Honda CR-V's they had, and we discussed them for a while. I gave them my contact info, unfortunately. If I could give this location zero stars I would. I bought my brand new Honda CRV hybrid on Black Friday. I have had nothing but problems with the way they handled the sale. The sales person actually entered the wrong VIN number on the insurance form, misspelled my name, and made the first payment due only two weeks after I took possession of the car instead of the six weeks, promised me. I called the manager and left three messages and have never heard from him again. It took a number of phone calls and about two hours of my time to figure out why my car wasn't coming up in the system because the wrong numbers were transposed even with the Honda financing company. They also installed a Chriswall front license plate that is not a standard size so I cannot put any other plate there except for theirs. The very large screw holes in front of my car are approximately 2 inches too far apart. Also, the young man who sold me the car and took me for a test drive did not show me any of the features at all. My phone has never successfully hooked up to the Wi-Fi without being plugged in. The sound quality on my phone calls is such that I can't even use the touchless feature . I live in Florida, so what am I supposed to do? Take it to a place where I didn't buy it? I'm not going to waste my time leaving another message for the manager or anybody else Do not buy a car from these people, they sell you a car and then disappear from the face of the Earth when you have a problem. I bought a used car from Criswell in December 2022. When I purchased it they told me everything was good on the vehicle and their mechanics checked everything and they don't sell anything that doesn't pass their maintenance test. Fast forward to today getting an estimate from another Honda dealership and the AC compressor is bad, rack and pinion needs to be replaced, power steering system needs to be replaced. I bought an extended warranty from Performance First when I purchased the vehicle so I'm thinking this will be covered. They want me to pay hundreds of dollars to verify/diagnose the problems and they said "maybe" Performance First will pay a portion. Do not buy from these crooks! And they're rude. This review is specifically for the service department. I went in because my ac was blowing hot on my 2020 Honda Accord. (I did not purchase vehicle here). I was called by Tyler who told me that my compressor needed to be replaced. I notified him that I had an independent warranty and to see if he could check to see if it was covered. To my surprise, Tyler called back to inform me that the parts and labor were covered under the cars original manufacturers warranty. I wanted to wait a few weeks after my appointment for me to write an objective review to the best of my ability. I made an appointment for an oil change at the Honda Criswell Germantown location on Sat, 9/18/2021 at 10:30 AM. Once I arrived a few minutes before 10:30 AM, I was greeted right away and prompted to show the employee the coupon that I found online. I also mentioned the coupon when I made my appointment online. The coupon included an Oil and filter change (up to 5 quarts), set tire pressure, perform visual multi-point inspection, and an exterior car wash (weather permitting). After I drove into the workshop, I was informed that my car would be finished in an hour and that I could wait in the lobby area. Someone would call me once my car was ready. The lobby is nice enough. There are a couple TVs set to various sports channels and magazines laying around to help occupy your time. I just walked around and looked at the cars on display while I was waiting. However, I did notice that a good number of employees and guests did not have their masks on while inside the car dealership. I didn't receive a call until 1.75 hours after 10:30 AM. Once I got into my car, I noticed an 8 x 11" paper with "NO CAR WASH" in large bold letters and leftover plastic wrap on the passenger seat. I also didn't see a new mileage sticker that indicates when my next oil change should take place. It was lunch time and I was pretty hungry so I didn't bother to talk to someone about the car wash nor sticker and headed off. Middlebrook road is a busy street and I am so thankful that I didn't take the highway. Right after I made a U-turn, I heard a loud and ugly screech sound coming from underneath my car. I made another U-turn and stopped onto the shoulder to check out what was going on. Half of the grill was falling off because it was not securely fastened after the oil change. I was pretty much peeved at this point. My car took longer than expected, the dealership didn't do a car wash, there wasn't a sticker, and they left trash in my car. I drove back to the dealership and asked to speak with the manager. The person who assisted me before came outside because I wanted him to see the situation underneath my car. He calmly apologized and stated that he can get someone to "fix it" and have me "be on my way". I've worked plenty of customer service jobs in the past and the lack of empathy / fake apologies rubbed me the wrong way. I also mentioned how there was trash in my car, no car wash, and no sticker. He informed me because of the dent on my bumper that the dealership was unable to wash my car. I would've been more understanding if this was explained to me ahead of time but no one mentioned that when I first arrived to my appt. I also mentioned the tire pressure adjustment but he just stated that my car's tire pressure sensor is broken. Okay... and there was zero explanation regarding why nor steps that I can take to fix it. I took pictures of my car from underneath and waited for the manager who was away when I came back. Long story short: she was nice and apologetic. She took the time to hear my complaints and what could've been done differently during this situation. However, there wasn't any action on their end to comp my service and I am not compelled to continue supporting their business. I do not plan on returning any time soon. read more

***review is based on the service dept., not car sales*** Overall, decent service dept. The workers here are professional, and others are quite personable. Of course, depending on your service, you can be there anywhere from 15mins to 2 hours, but the waiting area is clean with free coffee & tea, cable tv, and magazines, and there's a well stocked vending machine nearby. My only gripe here was my personal mechanic, who's a buddy of mine, told me I needed a new wheel barring, and that my warranty should cover it if I take it to the dealer. However, when I took my car into the dealer service dept, the mechanics told me that I didn't need a new barring after they test drove my car (without me), and made me wait 1.5 hours. My buddy hit the roof when I relayed this information back to him and he threatened to take MY car back up to the dealer if I didn't do so. So needless to say, a few days later, I had to wait another hour to be seen again, but this time I requested to speak with the mechanical supervisor. He test drove the car with me and knew exactly what my mechanic buddy was referring to. The supervisor said he would personally handle my case, and I had a new barring within a day. Since then, I've had to take my car up here a few times for battery manufacturer recalls and other miscellaneous things, but since that gripe, the service has been consistently better. So overall I recommend..but beware of the low key scamming. I have now purchased 2 vehicles from Criswell Honda. I will give credit where credit is due - the first process was smooth and we had 0 issues. Because of this we went back to Criswell. I do love both Honda's but this is a integrity issue with them. They have now stolen $200.28 of my money from the agreement signed on March 14, 2023. The signed purchase order by both me, my fiancé and the finance manager at Criswell stated my car payoff was to be $15331.32; however, Criswell only sent Capital One $15131.04. I had to make my payment as to not incur a late fee and they knew this so took advantage of me and made a lesser payoff. Had I not made this payment, they would have been responsible for paying the full $15331.32. They advised me in the finance office i would be refunded the difference and they would be sending $15331.32 no matter what. They fully knew what they were doing and took advantage of me. Therefore, I should have been refunded the difference between the 2 in the amount of $200.28. Criswell is refusing to refund my payment due to the fact that they incorrectly factored a part of the deal. This is not my fault. I have a signed agreement and they have now broken the agreement. I have contacted them numerous times and they advised they would look into it and contact me back and I never heard a single word from them. After purchasing 2 Hondas from them, I will NEVER do business with them again. I will also be filing a complaint with the Attorney General for the state of Maryland. Signed agreements don't lie. Service department lost a long-term customer. Spent over eight hours there today when I went in for regular maintenance and to have the sensors checked. Over that period, I got an underestimate of the the time some additional work would take (by three hours) and exactly one update on progress over five hours. I made several inquiries via text about the status but didn't receive an answer until the vehicle was almost ready. The service coordinator who I spoke with blamed it on the time of year - too much business, not enough staff. If you cannot accommodate my business in a reasonable time frame, don't take the reservation. I have been going out of my way to get my vehicles serviced at Criswell (I live in Kensington) but won't be in the future. read more

I came to buy a used car here with my friend. I am pregnant and needed a car with four doors instead of my current coupe. Found a Honda Accord test drive it and wanted to buy it. The car was overpriced for sure I even looked it up on car gurus and it stated it was overpriced. He goes into his office sits at his desk as if I can't see him through the blinds and does nothing then comes back and says you should put a down payment and doesn't give me Any numbers on how much my monthly payment would be. I told him I want the price of the car to go down and he tells me "you are waisting my time" and "this friendship is over and we can part ways" it was so rude and mean. Me and my friend walked out pissed at the way they treated us. We are two Hispanic females and the manager Hispanic and he thought by talking to us In Spanish he could act as if he was one of us and tried to persuade us. Brought my car in due to a loud, scraping sound when I accelerated my vehicle. They tried to get me to pay $1500 to replace a drive shaft on my two year old, 27K miles CR-V and told me warranty wouldn't cover it due to evidence of Impact on the drive shaft. Had me pay $90 for the privilege of their diagnosis as well. I expect to pay something for diagnostics but as usual, dealerships are gonna do what they always do. These guys and their shenanigans are on another level, though, because when I went to my local shop for a second opinion they were to fix the bent clasp around the drive shaft causing all the trouble and noise for $170. Basically this Honda dealership didn't even bother to see if they could fix the issue, they just wanted me to replace the drive shaft because they thought I was a sucker and would shell out $1500 no questions asked . So sorry to disappoint. If you have a Honda and need work done by Honda itself STAY AWAY FROM HERE. Go to another one further away, but don't go here. After this I've done some research and I see now that I'm not the first person to get screwed by these guys and I won't be the last but if I can dissuade even one person from coming here it's worth it. I hate Honda dealers in general. Their cars are popular (with good reason) so there's always the air of "Buy it or don't buy it. We don't care." This atmosphere seemed amplified at Criswell. The staff is about as unfriendly as any place I've ever encountered. The guy who sold me the car wouldn't even acknowledge me during service visits. Another example of poor customer service. I walked in and the salesman (a lanky, middle aged white guy) looked at me as if I had wandered in from the "Colored" section or something. He eyed me suspiciously before finally asking if he could help me. I explained what I needed and he directed me to another building, where they sell used cars. The salesman there was polite, at least, but he did not seem to know what he was doing. I was only there for about 10 minutes, but he kept having to go in the back and ask his manager about this and that. You shouldn't have to ask your manager about basic questions that I've asked about your inventory. Nope... they weren't getting any money from me.
