Kim made the move in much easier than expected, helping to find the best size and even suggestions for help moving in. What was to be a 3 month storage between houses turned into over a year -- I'm glad I drove a few minutes more and saved a lot of money! Overall this was a fantastic experience, located just 20 minutes from downtown, and the most helpful people in the storage business. If I ever need storage again, this is where I'll go. I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

That's over a 50% increase now that my belongings are in the unit, it's absurd and should be illegal. I chatted with Customer Service and they just keep quoting section 2.2 of the contract, which says they can change prices. No matter how you cut it, it's predatory marketing, aimed at getting someone into a unit and trapping them with a higher price and then auctioning off their stuff on Bravo when they can't pay the new fees. Better Business Bureau, here I come, this is a despicable business practice, shame on these guys.

Mouse fecal matter and urine was on a good part of my things that had to be thrown away. CubeSmart has mandatory storage insurance that's added on to your bill from their selected insurance company but they don't tell you that it does not cover rodent damage. I also had some water damage of my items from the ceiling of the unit, which was covered by their insurance thank God! There was also damage to the bottom of the door that leads to my unit that makes it easy for rodents to enter that was never repaired. This location never returned any of my calls after I tried to reach out to them and closed my account before my month was ended. When I filled a Better Business Bureau complaint I found out that they had hundreds of complaints to this location already placed. I only received a response from them after I filed a complaint with the State of Maryland Attorney General's Office. I rate them a D- because of the list I endured and the continued suffering I caused from bringing mice in my new house from some of the items. Get rid of your rodent problem and fix any door damages that leads to the unit that makes it easy for mice to get in. As for potential customers beware!

All they have to do is provide you with a 30 day notice, as if you could do anything about it. As an example, we rented our storage unit one year ago at a rate of $99. Within 6 months they raised it to $178. Just received a new bill (with no 30 day notice) that they increased it to $206. Such as dishonest approach. I've rented with other extraspace locations such as the one in DC on Taylor Street and never faced this issue. Avoid at all costs so you don't get stuck paying to move your stuff in 6 or 12 months to another location.

Grasshopper Movers is HANDS DOWN the best moving company I've worked with. Maybe because they are local and small, or maybe because they're just committed to providing the best service possible. EVERY single person I dealt with at Grasshopper has been customer focused and professional. They are clearly a company that is focused on meeting customer needs versus up-selling or lengthening the process. I would have even considered myself a not ideal client in that I contacted Grasshopper last minute and used them for storage far longer than anticipated AND asked for delivery and received it within 2 days of the request (meaning they didn't get to milk more money out of us just because they could.). DC is filled with lots of competition and these folks are just old fashioned in their approach - they have pride in their work. Finally, they also had the best price based on my extensive research (which I do professionally). If only they provided services outside of moving and storage - housekeeping? mobile phone service? Wifi & cable TV? OK, now I jest, but you get my point. Call them and sleep well. (FYI: I rarely write these because I seem to not have time, but I was motivated because of how awesome they all were to me - it's the least I could do.)
