What an absolutely WONDERFUL find!!! We were in the Kanab area for a BBQ contest and someone recommended dinner at Sego. We made reservations and had an amazing dining experience. We played all over the menu. Everything we ate was perfectly prepared and there were some signature items that were just absolutely outstanding. The Korean wings were perfect. Juicy and flavorful with the perfect amount of crispy on the outside. We tried several of the sushi specials for the day and were "wowwed" at how good they were. Sushi. In Kanab Utah. Wrap your head around that?!?!?! There were two items that I ordered that I will happily drive 5 hours to get, on a whim. First, the scallops. Perfectly prepared with a mushroom sauce and so, so delicate. Oh, and this coming from a guy that really doesn't like mushrooms. Second, was the pork belly and watermelon. The saltiness of the pork belly perfectly accents the watermelon. The texture of the watermelon perfectly compliments the pork belly. I was amazed at how good this was. We stayed at Canyons Boutique Hotel. After a long day hiking, we ordered takeout and enjoyed it in our room. We had the beet salad, asparagus, flat bread and falafel. Everything was light, fresh and delicious. 10/10 recommend. read more

We really love the food here and the variety. But I would suggest going with 4 or more so you can get a good selection of different types of dishes. However, I don't think it's a place where you would go every week because it would probably put a pretty good dent in your budget. LOL read more

The best meal I had during my 4 days in Utah. Granted I don't think anyone goes to Utah expecting good food. This was an unexpected nice find. Got the scallops, duck lo mein, broccolini, and sego noodles to share between 3 guys. Every dish was nicely thought out and prepared. Only drawback is portions are small and it can be pricey, about the same as bay area prices. If it weren't for the beer, I'd probably be hungry still. Selection of beers on tap was short, but there were some good stuff. Service was good. There was no wait during dinner time, probably considering the prices. I ordered the beet salad and scallops. Together they were the perfect combo! The scallops also came with a cauliflower puree topped with sauteed mushrooms that were extremely buttery. I did not dine in at the restaurant, but I saw the interior when I went to pick up my takeout. The inside is intimate, clean, and nicely decorated with Chihuly-esque light fixtures and art installations. It's so nice that this small town has this upscale option. I would definitely eat there again if I were in the area! read more

A real gem in this little town. I planned to order the Sego Noodles based on recommendations by locals. However, David, my excellent waiter, said that the Duck Lo Marin is their signature dish and was featured on some TV show. Usually I pass on duck as it's almost always in-bone, but Sego's is boneless. It was sooooo good. The texture was like that of filet, and the portion for the price was fair. The noodles were bathed in a jalapeño cream sauce and served with baby bok choy. The crispy duck skin bursted with flavor, but you only get a tiny piece. The Hot Cookie Sundae was a 2/3 hit: the whipped cream had that super light Reddi Wip texture which tastes a bit low grade (it could have been homemade though.) The Doma brand coffee was exceptionally good. The only minor negative: both my water and coffee mug had lipstick stains. :-( If the weather is nice go for outside seating by the fireplace. Extra kudos to the staff for moving efficiently, and more importantly, pleasantly during Spring Break. read more

We read the reviews and decided to try Sego. We had our dog so they let us sit outside. It was a bit windy but doable. We were not big fans of the grilled Caesar a little too mushy but the artichoke and mushroom toast was delicious. The avocado half toast was delish as was the Beef filet. My Boo really enjoyed the Dan Dan Mein Lo Mein. We had the dark chocolate torte for dessert. It was lovely. We were outside near the fire pit and a great place to watch the sunset. read more

This is a little plate place. So if you're hungry it may not be a good place to come to the portions are small but they're really really good. I had the scallops and brie again all really good just small portions we got away with only having to pay about $80 and you feel like you need to be a lot more food for $80 but I can see why it's rated so high the food is good just kind of expensive for what you get. After reading several reviews, I walked into Sego expecting an easy 5 stars but was unfortunately underwhelmed. TLDR; good food, horrible service if you're under 35. My bf and I happened to be staying in the Canyons Boutique Hotel so we dined in and got (in order of favorite-least fav) - Duck lo mein - Cantonese salt & pepper shrimp - Grilled cheese - Baked brie The food was poorly paced and we sat without anything for a solid 25 minutes. We both had ordered drinks and finished yet were not checked on despite all the tables around us being waited on and receiving another round. Duck lo mein - phenomenally flavored and cooked. Noodles were also quite delicious. Cantonese salt & pepper shrimp - perfect amount of spiciness, really enjoyed this dish as well. Grilled cheese - interesting & yummy dish, but I am probably biased because I'm a big cheese fan. It is essentially just a piece of cheese that has been grilled, and it has a slight sweet/lemon-y taste to it. Baked brie - Definitely pass. Seemed like the cheese had been melted previously and then reheated upon bringing it out. Not terrible but would suggest picking something else. Overall, probably the highest quality restaurant we went to in Kanab; however, the service ruined the experience for us. read more

Absolutely exceptional all around. As out-of-towners, we just happened to stumble across Sego on Yelp while checking to see what may be open late in Kanab and, given the already stellar reviews, we opted to give it a whirl. The service was excellent, the food was phenomenal and they basically customized drinks for us both, which ended up being some of the best & most creative we've had. Of course, after we were done dining, we could't resist asking for the Manager so we could commend the staff and overall experience and - what a treat - we ended up talking with the Chef [Shon] & several of the staff for a good 15-20 minutes. They offered their recipes (both food & drink), sent us home with the "secret sauce" they used in our magical margaritas, and even offered their email for tips & tricks for recipes that we may find ourselves struggling with down the road. It doesn't end there though... Little did we know, Sego was connected to the most incredible little hotel & lodge (Canyons Boutique Hotel for a more 'full service' stay &/or Canyons Lodge for a more casual, yet DARLING, room). From the lovely hospitality & guidance at the reception desk, to the darling, cozy & quiet room, to the comfort & ambiance of the property as a whole, we truly couldn't have been happier. We were passing through Kanab around 830 on a Friday night and found the Sego restaurant at the Canyons Boutique hotel. We came in for drinks only and didn't have a dinner reservation so we were seated on the outdoor patio near the fire pit. We ordered a few dishes to share as recommended- elote fritters were nice but a bit salty, beet salad has very few pieces of beets which were tasty but the arugula stems was so tough and chewy we couldn't even eat it, foraged mushrooms were delicious, and we splurged on the bone-in cowboy ribeye steak w/potato wedges. While we knew the ribeye would be a bigger dish, we had no idea it would be so much meat and potatoes so we regretted ordering it. Steak was cooked really well considering the massive size and it tasted great. We just could not eat so much meat and had to bring it home. We should have ordered the filet dish instead or maybe wings. Anyways, that was our ordering error but just be forewarned if you choose this dish. Potatoes on the plate were also massive wedges, not my favorite. So - I would say we probably ordered all the wrong dishes and that's why our review isn't stellar. Hopefully you have better luck than us. Due to the rib-eye, the cost of the dinner was pricey but everything else seemed reasonable. read more

What a pleasant surprise!!! I would not have expect to find such an interesting restaurant in a town this size. Sego Restaurant has an Asian theme to their menu that was absolutely delish. We tried several dishes and I was more than pleased with all but one but the one I didn't really care for my husband loved so it was a win win. A lot of restaurants in Kanab are closed on Monday so we decided to make a reservation last minute. We called about an hour ahead and they were able to get us seated. From the foraged mushroom & artichoke toast, to charsiu pork lettuce wraps, pork belly & watermelon to a browned butter fig wedge and then street tofu...everything was beautifully presented and great for the palate! On top of the food the service was very attentive, courteous and just genuinely friendly. It's more than worth a trip. read more

Sego was awesome! We were staying an hour away and I'm so glad we made the drive over to Kanab for this. It was so good we went back two days later! It was expensive but worth it in our opinion. The first day we made reservations but being that it was a Monday in February they weren't very busy. I appreciated that our waiter had a mask on both nights. I do wish they tried to spread out seating a bit more but it is a small place so I understand that's not easy to do. It does take awhile to get everything you ordered so don't go here if you're expecting it to be quick. Here's a list of things we ordered: Bone In Prime Rib- my husband was sooo happy! It was 2.5lbs and cost $75... perfectly cooked and would definitely order again. The potatoes that came with it were the best potatoes we've ever had. Duck Lo Mein- this was my first time trying duck and didn't know what to expect but it exceeded all my expectations. It was amazing! Probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. And the crispy skin was so good. It was hard not to order it again but I wanted to try other menu items. Elote Fritters- these were very good. Perfect balance of sweet, salty, and savory. Wok Tossed Broccolini- broccolini was fine but nothing special. What makes this dish a must was the incredible chili oil served with it. It was so amazing. Our waiter recommended us getting a side of toasted bread just to soak it up and eat with it and we were so glad we did!!! The oil and bread was our favorite appetizer we had- and it wasn't even on the menu!!! Artichoke & Foraged Mushroom Toast- wow! This one surprised us. We aren't huge fans of mushrooms and I didn't think I liked artichokes but this dish made me love both! Give it a chance! AZ Beef Filet- this was incredible! The most tender steak and we love the sauces they pair with it. Potatoes were good too but we liked the other ones that came with the bone in prime rib a little better. Rendang Ayam- the Chicken was really flavorful and tender and it was a large portion too. But I do wish it came with more rice and was more saucy. Came back again, my third visit to Sego in a year (two trips to Kanab in 2021). Outstanding! I haven't had a regrettable dish yet here, and I've tried many menu items! As someone with a dairy allergy, I've been impressed with the selection available for all dietary restrictions and choices. After reading the amazing reviews below, I was excited to try Sego after a long day of hiking. However, I left disappointed (granted, my expectations were extremely high after combing through these Yelp reviews). We got four tapas to share: -Asparagus: well done with a slight kick! Although I could not detect the sunflower seeds at all -Potatoes: pretty good, although I wish the potatoes were cut in smaller chunks and the sauce didn't cover everything (I like my patatas bravas to be crispier) -Charsiu: I wish this came with more garnishes. It was okay and quite salty -Duck Lo Mien: while the other dishes were on the saltier side, the noodles were SO salty that I could not finish the dish. It was doused in soy sauce Overall I liked that the menu was interesting with a unique twist on many of the menu items, but it just lacked finesse in execution. Although pricey, the portions were fair but for a $70 check I certainly held the food to a higher standard... and unfortunately left dissatisfied. I'm not sure if we just came on an off night but we certainly did not receive any hot towels nor did we get our water refilled during the entire course of the meal. read more

We decided to check this place out based off of the reviews we read on Yelp. When we arrived we were very surprised to find that this restaurant is located inside of a hotel. In the past, we have never had an amazing meal from a hotels restaurant and we ALMOST walked out. I am so happy we decided to stay, this was by far one of the best meals we have had in Utah. Our favorite dishes were the FOTD swordfish and the tofu, and I have to say, I lived in Asia for several years and this is the BEST tofu both I and my husband (who is not a vegetarian) have ever had. The texture was perfect and the flavors were beautiful. The swordfish was cooked perfectly and the hummus and carrots that accompanied were delicious in their own right. The Rendang Ayam, Sego Noodles, and Potatoes were all gobbled up and had their own unique flavors that we quite enjoyed. The apple dessert was delicious and all plates were the perfect size for sharing. Portions were not tiny and they also weren't outrageous, which we were grateful for so we could try more options! The prices were completely reasonable as well. Our waitstaff were very kind and attentive. The atmosphere was intimate but not crowded, with low lighting and well-spaced tables. It also wasn't so loud that I couldn't have a conversation or hear myself think (which drives me crazy in restaurants). Honestly, this restaurant is rather out of places, in between 3 national parks, in a small hotel of a small town. But the food was just amazing, especially since I was dreading having to rough with diner food or fast food when touring the national parks. But after a long hike, Sego delivers one of the more extravagant meals I had all week. I ordered 7-8 dishes to share with my Dad, and when the 3 pound ribeye came as the very last dish, we were already pretty full. Somehow we ended up eating 2 pounds of it before taking the rest to go. Although I wasn't expecting spending close to $300 for a dinner in the middle of nowhere, it was worth every penny after hiking non-stop for the week! read more

I was a bit iffy about trying an Asian fusion restaurant in a rural town in Utah, but decided to give it a try. This is a tapas-style restaurant, so we ordered 5 dishes for the two of us: Malaysian wings, artichoke & mushroom forage, elote fritters, and two--yes, two-- duck Lo mein bowls cuz my partner 'wanted his own'. The taste, the variety of flavors and the service friggin blew us away!!! Between the four different dishes, I still can't decide which was my favorite bc they were all so unique but the elote fritters rank pretty high for me. A very unexpected high end dining experience in Kanab. Seriously, $19 for top notch duck I could eat here every day. It went well with my McCallan and the Asian Wings were an even better surprise.
