My partner and I love Dr Jenny at See Saw Seen! Facility: Comfortable, spacious, clean, well lit. Gorgeous showroom selection of their own line of glasses, and they don't pressure you to buy. Location: lovely Hayes Valley with some free street parking and lots of options to eat/shop after Technology: I used to think state of the art equipment didn't matter for a routine eye exam, but it makes for a more comfortable experience, helps establish baseline images, and identify things otherwise easily missed so you can monitor Service: Easy check in and check out process at the front Appointments: Love the ease of scheduling appointments online and easy to get a hold of on the phone. Appointments are on time with plenty of time to ask lots of questions (which is encouraged). Saturday appointments are much appreciated. Dr: Supportive, friendly, calm demeanor, comprehensive and extremely detailed, takes a lot of notes to build a comprehensive file, good at explaining concepts and very patient Emergency: I had a tiny stray piece of velcro fly into my eye and I freaked out about it because I couldn't find the velcro. It was totally fine like she suspected but I super appreciate she squeezed me in same day to calm my nerves. read more

Dr. Jenny Yuen of See Saw Seen (SSS) and her staff are great. They are hospitable, punctual, and very communicative with answering questions and having cordial conversations. I loved that she accepted my VSP vision plan and my out-of-pocket costs for contact lens prescription was very reasonable. I also liked that she books Sat appointments. Her diagnostic remote control equipment is state-of-the-art and it made my exam very comfortable and quick. I have never seen as well with contact lenses as I have with her CL prescription and she was very accommodating with my preference for a prescription for inexpensive daily wear 30-day lenses vs more costly daily disposable ones. I really appreciated that. I also love the office's interior design with LEGO models that I'm sure her pediatric patients love and the nice design scientific optical medicine mathematical formula wallpaper. I didn't order eyeglasses from SSS so I am not sure how that service works, but she definitely had a great selection of frames. Overall, SSS has been my favorite optometrist in San Francisco and I will definitely return for an updated prescription. SSS definitely gets a well-deserved 5-stars from me! read more

I recently visited See Saw Seen's Gough location for an eye exam and the purchase of sunglasses. When I entered, I was quickly greeted by Eric; very pleasant and personable. My exam began with pretesting; wow, modern equipment. I have been to other optometry offices where the equipment seemed to be from the early 1900s; certainly not the case at this office. After pretesting, I was greeted by Dr. Zeng. She examined my eyes that day and was very thorough. Dr. Zeng genuinely cared very much about the health of my eyes and was interested in making sure I could have the best vision possible. When the eye exam was over, I was guided back to Eric where I searched for sunglasses. I explained to Eric the type of sunglasses I was seeking. Requirements: 1. Light weight 2. When I smile, my cheeks do not touch the frame I looked for 10 minutes and thought I found the pair I was going to purchase. Eric suddenly showed up with a pair of sunglasses that fit me perfectly; I purchased them. My experience at See Saw Seen was very pleasant and will definitely return. read more

Everyone there is so friendly and welcoming -- you can tell they really care about their patients. My exam was super thorough, and the doctor actually took time to explain things in a way that made sense (no rushing, no jargon). We had the best conversation! They also have a great selection of frames -- stylish, unique, and not the same cookie-cutter options you see everywhere else. I left feeling totally taken care of and excited about my new glasses. They don't take VSP SF Health Plan medi-cal though they are listed on gov't websites which I think are woefully out of date. The person I spoke with was very nice. I made an appt on their site and I was left a message within 24 hours that they do not take my insurance. So the reception people are nice, and they are prompt with reaching out. So they get stars for that. Just no insurance. read more

Can't believe I haven't reviewed SSS yet! We've been coming here for years, even after we moved to the east bay. We'd make the trek back once a year for our eye checkup. Always a warm and friendly greeting from Eric (and if it's a school holiday, their cute and smart daughter Morgan) when we enter. The place is so cool, like a designer's dream shop. Everything is bright and airy, and so clean and organized. Dr Jenny is extremely professional and she is super thorough! She takes her time and their equipment is all very state of the art and modern. She tests everything and then goes through with us in detail, comparing what's happened with our eyesight, gloucoma, astigmatism etc. since the previous year. Their prices are reasonable and they even mail out our new glasses to us since we live across the bridge. We love them and can't recommend them enough! read more

Rarely do you see a 5 star rating and think it's completely legitimate. There is bound to be someone unhappy with something about the experience or outcome so you presume the rating has been curated. Thus, I scheduled my visit with a healthy sense of skepticism that it will be flawless, but I was hopeful that it would be better than what you'd typically get. Waiting for my appointment I got to read a bit about their start and my hopes waned a bit as it seemed like their initial business was oriented around pop up shows to sell frames. Well, after having gone through my first annual exam with Dr. Jenny, I can report that she (and the practice) deserves every bit of their 5 star rating! The assessment was the most thorough I've experienced (I've been wearing glasses for 30+ years) and I was never rushed or treated in a transactional manner. Fave eye doctor in the Bay Area! Dr. Jenny was so kind and informative during my eye exam which I highly appreciated. Walked me through each step we were doing and even fixed my prescription that was wrong from a previous place I went to. Eric is absolutely awesome and so so helpful as well! Makes the whole place feel comfortable and welcoming as soon as you enter. One thing I enjoyed seeing was that it's a dog friendly place! Haven't been with my dog yet, but it's nice to know you can bring your pet inside if you need to pop in. These people are apparently phenomenally busy, likely owing to their extremely enthusiastic Yelp ratings, and are accordingly quite difficult to get an appointment with, at least for a complete eye examination. I was nonetheless lucky enough to secure an exam appointment owing to a cancellation, and then stupid enough to cancel it owing to an important conflict which arose. Securing a new appointment proved to be quite difficult indeed, owing to my retirement-enabled traveling and their busy schedule, but I eventually succeeded in making an appointment and am most glad indeed I was patient enough to wait. Dr. was wonderfully competent and thorough, and quite charming to boot. She spent considerable time and furnished me with the most complete optometric examination I've ever had, and I've had a few. I shall furnish an update when my glasses are completed and fitted, but as for the examination, it could not have been better. Most highly recommended indeed! read more

I feel so thoroughly cared for at my annual eye visits. Jenny is so calm caring and genuinely invested in my vision and comfort wearing corrective lenses throughout the day. When we finished our visit she excitedly exclaimed "I can't wait for you to try your new contacts" in a way no one should care about my eyes except for me. She knows she found the right fit. She is one of a kind. I leave these visits and just gush to my husband. It's hard to imagine how she has this level of attention and care for so many patients throughout her day. I aspire to run my own practice the way she does (which feels nearly impossible). Sue greeted me with a warm welcome and led me to a room in the back to conduct my initial eye tests. My husband found parking and waited in the lobby after Sue gave him the WIFI password. Dr. Jenny is like no eye doctor I have had. Not only is she kind, personable and caring, but she is also knowledgeable and patient, answering every question efficiently, including some details I never knew before (and I've been to eye doctors since I was in fifth grade!). The doctor and staff never once made me feel like just another patient asking the same old questions that they have to answer. I highly recommend your next eye exam here. The service is comfortable, friendly, unrushed, stellar and absolutely topnotch. I needed a 2nd opinion before updating my prescription glasses and I am glad I found Dr Jenny. I went for an eye exam which was the most complete and thorough of my life. Dr jenny has incredible attention to detail, a lot of testing to make sure she's getting the right prescription to your needs, she takes time to answer all questions and explain all of your options and why's behind them. I'm writing this review to share my recent and very disappointing experience with See Saw Seen. I found this office after researching vision providers who accept VSP Medi-Cal and See Saw Seen came up in multiple searches INCLUDING the vsp medi-cal website. It's even listed on the Yelp page as accepting Medi-Cal patients. Based on that information, I decided to reach out and schedule an appointment. However, when I called the office, I was told that they do not actually accept Medi-Cal. I was told they stopped taking Medi-cal. I called vsp, Medi-cal and the site to see if there was a mistake and was told, "no you're good to go there and there is nothing restricting". This was confusing and frustrating because their advertising and online listings clearly state otherwise. For families who depend on Medi-Cal coverage, accurate information is essential when choosing a provider. It's incredibly discouraging and heartbreaking to see a practice promote themselves as an option for Medi-Cal patients when that's not the case. I believe that businesses, especially healthcare providers, have a responsibility to keep their information truthful and up to date. Misleading conversations creates unnecessary stress for families seeking care. I sincerely hope See Saw Seen updates their services and any other listings to reflect their actual insurance policies so that other families don't have the same disappointing experience. I don't know how I haven't left a review for this place yet! This is by far the best optometrist experience I've ever encountered before. I've been coming here for years and am so grateful to have found a place that I completely trust with my eye health and also feels like chatting with old friends when I enter the door. Dr. Yuen is a master of her craft and is super meticulous with eye examinations. She invests in the latest technology and takes time to answer all my questions and I never feel rushed at all. She even helped me get my contacts paid for by insurance by identifying that my situation qualifies for that. Her husband Eric manages the front office and ordering of glasses and he is so warm and helpful. They have a lot of glasses options there but they absolutely do not pressure you to purchase anything. I will never forget that Eric actually hand delivered me my contacts order that had just come in right before I was leaving for a flight abroad. From the moment we started Ortho-K for my child, the care at See Saw Seen has been incredible. I was nervous about having such a young kid try it, but Dr. Jenny and Eric patiently walked us through every step. Teaching a child who wouldn't even let me put in eye drops to wear contacts felt like a miracle--and the results truly are: my child now sees 20/15! Dr. Jenny's patience and thorough explanations have been invaluable--I've even switched my own eye appointments to her.
