I was looking for an optometrist for my young kids and based on the convenient location and positive reviews of this practice, I chose this one. During what should have been a routine eye exam for my 6-year-old son, Dr. Lee accidentally poked him in the eye while putting eyedrops in his eyes. This wasn't a minor incident - my son ended up in the emergency room with a swollen eye and a bacterial infection that required medical treatment. I should have trusted my instincts when we first arrived - the office had a noticeable stench and didn't appear clean. Given that my son developed a bacterial infection from this incident, I now suspect the unsanitary conditions played a role in what happened to him. Eye exams for young children require extra care and attention, and this level of carelessness is completely unacceptable. When I requested that he be seen to assess the damage, her office told me it would cost $158 for the appointment because it wasn't covered by insurance. What makes this even worse is that while she acknowledged poking him in the eye when it happened (which is how I knew it even happened), she later denied it ever occurred. This lack of accountability and honesty is deeply concerning from a healthcare professional. As a parent, I trusted this professional with my child's vision and safety, and that trust was violated. The pain and distress this caused my son, not to mention the additional medical expenses and trauma of spending all day in the ER, could have been avoided with proper care and technique. I cannot recommend this practice to anyone, especially families with young children. When it comes to your child's eye health, you need someone who will be gentle, careful, and competent. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here. read more

Eyedentity Vision Optometry - My son's eye a few hours after his appointment. He went in with healthy, normal eyes and left like this. - Optometrists Near Me - San Francisco, California

I recently visited Dr. Lee because one day, out of the blue, I developed a troubling issue with one of my eyes. I was quite concerned that it was something very serious. I called my doctor's clinic only to find that the wait to see an ophthalmologist in my medical network (UCSF) take weeks if not months. My only option, I was told, was to go to a walk-in clinic or the emergency room, in either case I would be waiting hours for an on-call ophthalmologist to show up. Then it occurred to me to see my optometrist - Dr. Carrie Lee. She saw me that very same day (a Friday), and I can only imagine she had to really juggle her schedule to squeeze me in. In the event, she was able to identify the problem. It was bad, but not any of the terrible options suggested by Dr. Google. Later I emailed her (on a holiday) with a question about the application of a treatment for an unrelated issue. To my surprise she responded with the answer in about 5 minutes (!). Dr. Lee is a treasure who really cares about her patients. read more

Nose pad fell off, got a new one but couldn't I stall it myself. So I went into this store and they replaced it for free. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend. read more

Dr Lee and the office staff here are wonderful. I appreciate that they communicate through texts in addition to calls and emails. Dr. Lee also is very thorough and practical. In my most recent visit, they even followed up on my behalf with a contact lens manufacturer to resolve a question, communicating with me the whole time and giving me a resolution. I would highly recommend coming to this location - super convenient. read more

I recently started noticing my 11-year-old having a hard time reading signs from far away. I have no idea if there are pediatric optometrists, but I called Eyedentity and asked if they would give her an eye exam, to which they said yes. We had to schedule only about a week out, so it was fairly easy to get an appointment. They are following Covid protocols, which I'm thankful for (everyone wears masks, we were asked to wash our hands, they had air purifiers indoors), so I felt comfortable in terms of Covid. We saw Dr. Wong, and I didn't see any reviews of her here on Yelp, so I felt a little hesitant about that. However, she quickly allayed my fears. She was very friendly, patient, and kind. She also was knowledgeable, thorough, and had a keen attention for detail. Afterwards, we went into the glasses shop and looked around. Again, they were careful about Covid precautions, placing any glasses we tried on into a bin to be sanitized before returning them to the shelf. Sandra (who works front end) was very helpful in choosing some eyewear for us and laid out all the prices (with our VSP insurance) so that we could decide what works best for us. My experience here was so positive that I'm considering switching here myself! Thank you, Eyedentity! read more

I went there for eye prescription and eye glasses. Service is ok, attitude is not cold not warm. However, they are not cheap and they don't give discount for repeat customers! I felt rid off by them after I paid $700 plus for a prescription and a pair of lenses ( I bought my own frame) . read more

I've been coming here the past 2 years and have been pretty happy with my overall experience. But after my recent visit, I will be finding another optometrist. I received a text a month ago that automatically set up my annual eye exam for me - pretty cool! Except that date that was chosen for me didn't work, so I called to reschedule. The receptionist was understanding and helped me move it. I then called back shortly after because I realized I wasn't available that time slot either. She helped me move it again. I was all set for my eye appointment in 3 weeks. After my appointment today, as I was paying, I was informed that there was a $50 charge for re-scheduling my appointment 3 times. I told the receptionist that I was not informed of this policy over the phone when I rescheduled (had I known - I would've tried to make it work). She said "This is a new policy that we're announcing the end of the month..but we're actually applying it to everything beginning in October". Are you kidding me? I'd understand if I had missed an appointment, or even canceled 24 hours before, but I was rescheduling my appointment WEEKS out before it was going to happen. They're not a restaurant - there was no loss of business due to me rescheduling my appointment weeks in advance. Entirely unacceptable and felt like a sneaky way for them to charge me an extra $50. Especially when this new text system automatically set up my annual appointment for me. And especially when this policy hasn't even been announced yet. Dr. Lee has been great, but if I'm going to be charged for rescheduling an appointment, I'd rather just go somewhere else that is flexible and understanding. read more

I finally had some time to catch up on my eye and dental appointments- heck, make the best of your insurance if you've got it, right? If you have VSP as your eye insurance and are looking for an eye doctor in San Francisco, look no further- I agree with a previous poster, Dr. Lee is *such* an asset to her profession! She is professional, thorough, she explains *everything*, and really makes an effort to help you understand what is going on with your eyes. I am incredibly nearsighted (and have been since I was 10) so I have had my share of optometrists, believe me! Dr. Lee's staff is helpful and friendly, and it's so cool that they built the business themselves- from the ground up!!! Starting your own business in this city is hard enough- & their effort and hard work are clear in how well-designed their storefront is! Also, their practice carries the most amazing assortment of eyeglass frames *AND* sunglasses... I couldn't resist and got myself a pair of sunglasses this time! (Ahem, Dr. Carrie, you've created a monster!) Dr Lee and her staff will explain to you what your insurance coverage provides for (I have a choice between contacts or eyeglasses.) The glasses frames from LaFont, Salt Optics and Kate Spade were very tempting!!!!! Located right down the street from Chenery Park restaurant, Canyon market, and Destination Bakery, their office is easily accessible and parking is a-ok (metered or street parking available.) Also Open Saturdays 9AM-4PM! How incredibly convenient, right? Open late on one night a week till 7 or so (I can't remember when!) I used to go to an eye doctor near my old office, but I always felt like 'just a number' there- it was a huge practice- and I never really felt like certain things were explained to me very well. read more

I dropped in to Eyedentity this morning, after my prescription sunglasses (bought in MA) had fallen apart due to a loose/lost screw. I asked if I could buy a repair kit, which they don't carry. Instead, the optometrist fixed my glasses herself and charged me nothing. They are now as good as new! If the folks at Identity are this thoughtful, detail oriented, and efficient with a random person walking in on a Thursday morning, I imagine they are absolutely brilliant with their actual customers. read more

Dr. Carrie Lee is the BEST I've been seeing Dr. Carrie Lee for 10 years now, and she is the best. When I first started seeing her, I hadn't been able to get my prescription right for more than 3 years - hopping around trying a different friend/family recommendation, not loving it, trying someone new the next year... And then with Dr. Lee, I could finally see again. Very thankful to Dr. Lee, and love the short trip from Twin Peaks into Glen Park. read more

Experience - My husband and I just switched to Dr. Lee for the reason of adjacency. I just called them up one day, and Tony was really helpful and friendly. We set up an appointment on Saturday morning and had our exam one after another. They were very patient with us and hospitable. Selections - They have a great selection of frames - from simple modern frames to very stylish ones. Space - The store is very nice and clean, and I heard that Tony had done most of the finishing work in the store himself. All in all, very cozy! Location - Glen Park Bart station is just a step away, and there are lots of restaurant around the store. It's great to have a brunch on the weekend and drop by the store for an appointment. Or just have and appointment on your way home. It is very convenient. Services - Dr. Lee and Tony are friendly, and easygoing, we are proud to have a neighbor store like this one! read more

I haven't been going to Eyedentity for too long (just became a new patient last month), but I'm so pleased with my experience at this office so far! Dr. Carrie Lee is fantastic. She really takes the time to get you know you as a patient and explains everything thoroughly. I've been wearing glasses since elementary school and finally decided to take a chance with contacts. Dr. Lee explained options to me and recommended daily-use contacts to start off with. I went in for a contact fitting and got to practice with Martiza, who is also wonderful! She's really helpful and encouraging despite some frustrations about sticking this little lens on my eyeball. Maritza also helped me find new frames. She has great taste and recommended a tortoiseshell frame, which I love and have gotten so many compliments! Also, I love that they send email and text reminders for appointments and/or when your glasses/contacts are ready for pick up. Definitely something different than other clinics I've been to. Overall, I'm so glad I found Eyedentity and plan on keeping this as my go-to place for all my eye care needs! read more

I came in with my 1-year old daughter to see if I could potentially get some glasses to improve my vision. Before the appointment, I was a bit apprehensive, and kept thinking about how my daughter was going to fuss during the entire eye exam. She actually did pretty well. But it's hard for a 12 month old to sit still for forty minutes. Dr. Avakian not only tried her best to address my vision (I have unique circumstances), but she sang to my daughter, held her, and showed her some toys. I can't give Dr. Avakian enough praise. Thank you for making it easier for this mom. read more

I purchased 3 pair of eyewear last Saturday. I can't wait to return! This office has the BEST selection I have ever seen. I worked in the optometric field before so I recognize quality. Being visually challenged, it was time for my annual eye exam. I chose Eyedentity and Dr. Carrie Lee on the advice of my girlfriend, a former patient. Eyedentity is a full-service vision center. They sell contacts, high-end eyeglasses for both adults and children, safety glasses for work and sports, and provide advice should you decide on vision correction surgery. Dr. Lee is one of the best, if not the best, optometrist that I have ever had. She was very thorough during my exam and took the time out to explain all of my results. She explained what I needed to watch out for as I age as well as some possible issues that may arise such as a detached retina. Lastly, Dr. Lee explained the pros and cons of choosing good vision over better vision as seeing clearer at a greater distance would cause me eyestrain when trying to see up close. All in all, I felt as if Dr. Lee was sincerely concerned about me and my vision. Dr. Lee recommended I begin using 1 day contacts over the 2 week contacts I had been using for health and quality of life reasons. Getting tired of the nightly ritual of cleaning my contacts and being flat-out lazy, Dr. Lee did not have to do much to convince me to convert and I have never been happier since. Eyedentity is located in Glen Park, a family friendly neighborhood where it seems as if everyone knows everyone else, and, depending upon the time of day, there is usually ample parking. Eyedentity is in a perfect location because where else can you get a nice meal (Gialina Pizzeria, La Corneta Taqueria, Le P'tit Laurent, Higher Grounds Coffee House), do a little grocery shopping (Canyon Market) and get some dessert (Eggettes), before testing out your newly improved vision at the recently remodeled Glen Park Library. Until I experience an optical miracle, I plan on returning to Dr. Lee and Eyedentity. read more

My roommate came back from Dr. Lee's office one day with some really cute and stylish frames, so I had to check it out for myself. Unfortunately, she doesn't take my insurance, so I can't use her services for eye exams. Darn my company for not using VSP! Dr. Lee has a great selection of frames, and she takes the time to help you pick them out. I had the tough job of deciding between Lafont, Prodesign and Kate Spade(she has a variety of other high end frames as well). I ended up with the Prodesigns....I would've bought another frame, but my prescription is horrible, and the lenses cost and arm and a leg! Great service and great selection! Stop by and take a peek! read more

Since my last review, Dr. Carrie Lee has continued being an awesome Optometrist. The whole family sees her yearly. They have one of the most efficient offices I have ever encountered! They are crazy efficient! I am updating today because my niece had a random contact emergency. She is visiting from Oregon. She ripped her contact. Forgot to bring a spare contacts. I figured if anyone could help it would be Dr. Carrie. Well, let's just say she saved the day and my niece has contacts for the rest of her days here. She went above and beyond helping us. DR. Carrie Lee is way more than an optometrist. She is a problem solver, she is fun and personable too. I wish I could give her more stars! read more

I walked in here last weekend for an eye appointment and they were flexible enough to take me later that day. As they establish themselves, I would imagine that they will get much more busy on the weekends so make an appointment to be sure. Dr. Lee and her husband are great assets to their profession. Very friendly and totally committed to her patients. She has a great "bedside" manner to boot and is very pleasant to deal with. She is a lot of fun to pick glasses out with too! If you live in the Glen Park or Noe Valley area, give them a try. You won't be disappointed! read more

I just became a patient a few months ago, and I am so glad I chose Eyedentity over the other optometrists. I saw Dr. Avakian, who was incredibly professional, paid close attention to detail, and shows that she cares about you and your eyesight. She gave me great advice on how to take care of my eyes (I'm always in front of a computer for my job) and took great care in getting me the right prescription. I am also so impressed by the exception care from the ladies at the front desk. Shout out to Sandra who has been so helpful. I would highly recommend coming here for your eye health. You will be taken care of from beginning to end :) read more

After my first visit I know I can never go to another optometrist ever again. Dr. Lee is warm and professional and really knows her stuff! The office is small- you dont feel like a number or another face- when you have an appointment it's all you! I love that. Dr. Lee took 20 minutes to talk to me just about my persistent red eyes. I could see that she was genuinely concerned and we pretty much went through my entire health history as she was trying to figure it out. It felt less like an austere doctor's visit and more like a comfortable conversation with a friend. Her equipment is state of the art and her office is clean and modern. Tony took the time to help my girlfriend find some frames that suited her, and even offered to call us from a trade-show to see if she'd like something he'd found. How cool is that? Keep doing what you're doing Dr. Lee! read more

I went here today for the first time and it was really fantastic. Dr. Lee is so helpful and kind and she was really attentive when I explained my eye problems. Everyone that worked there was so professional and helpful. Dr. Lee was also incredibly helpful in getting me set up with a pair of inexpensive and stylish eyeglass frames, steering me toward ones that fit well and looked good. Honestly, going to the doctor for a check-up is never fun, but Dr. Lee and her staff made it a breeze. And with my VSP insurance, I paid less at Eyedentity than I ever paid at Pearl or LenseCrafters and got much better service and a more thorough exam. Support your loca eye doctor! read more

Carrie Lee is one of the most wonderful doctors I've ever had. She's so kind and thoughtful, she explains everything, and she talks to you like you're a good friend. She's exceptionally patient (such as when I took forever to pick out a pair of frames) and makes eye exams fun. She also does a thorough job in her exams, never skipping anything. I first saw Dr. Lee when I was about 5 months pregnant, and she encouraged me at the time to bring in my child for a 6-month eye exam. After our daughter was born, she did just that -- checking her vision to make sure it's developing as it's supposed to. She was wonderful with our girl, making the experience fun and as painless as possible. I had one bad experience ordering glasses from Eyedentity -- the frames and lenses were delayed because the lenses kept cracking at the lab where they were being produced. This wasn't Eyedentity's fault in any way, and when they saw the delay, they made me a "mock" pair with my new prescription so that I could function at work until the real pair arrived. It totally saved my ass. read more

What a wonderful new member of the blossoming Glen Park merchant community! If you are looking for professional and friendly eye care PLUS a fabulous selection of cool frames for all faces, here's your place. Carrie Lee is expert, savvy and fair. The shop has more of a boutique feel than a doctor's office, yet with the best care. If you can't decide on a frame, you can have a digital photo taken of each choice and emailed to you on the spot. If you are nearsighted like me, that's a big plus. read more

Best eye appointment ever. Everything from making an appointment to paying my bill went smoothly here. I walked in for my appointment and was greeted by a friendly face. I got there a little early, thinking that it would take me longer to get there, so I was prepared to wait. However, when I got there, Dr. Carrie Lee was ready to see me right away. I went into the back room, freaked out about getting that puff of air in my eye (the only reason that I really hate getting my eyes checked out), only to find out that she has a different test that doesn't require that nasty puff of air. Yippee! Dr. Lee was great at listening to my concerns with my current prescription and taking those into consideration when reviewing the test results for my new prescription. After all of the testing, Dr. Lee came out to help me find a new pair of frames. She has great taste and genuinely seems to enjoy helping you pick a pair out. Finally, the invoice. In the past, I have never really understood all the details of what I was paying for after an eye exam. I usually let the insurance take care of that and pay for the difference. Dr. Lee discussed what my insurance covered with me, and had a clear breakdown of exactly what I was paying for in addition to what the insurance covered. I'm mildly embarrassed to admit that I can't wait to come back and find another pair of frames with Dr. Lee, because I only have a VERY slight case of nearsightedness [and can go most days without even wearing glasses]. I can only hope that my next employer offers a VSP plan so I can go back to Eyedentity! read more

After going for a few years to Site For Sore Eyes, my wife and I decided to look for another optometrist. Under our current vision plan we LUCKILY picked Eyedentity. We checked out ratings and proximity and also, they were very accommodating in getting us an appointment. Wow, we had no idea what we were missing all these years. The range of tests and thoroughness of Dr. Lee's exams (we went back a few times to have our eyes fully examined and contact lenses fitted) made us feel that we were in great hands. You know that Dr Lee really cares for her patients and enjoys what she does. Ok so no surprise here that Carrie Lee O.D. and her spec - tacular (couldn't help myself) store gets 5 stars.. When I first approached the store it was closed but I was peeking in, the doctor saw me and opened the door and asked if she could help me. I said I needed an appointment and she took the time AFTER closing to set me up in their system and set an appointment. The day of my appointment I had a last minute scheduling conflict..She immediately rescheduled for me and said that is wasn't a problem due to the nature of my other appointment. My visit in her office was organized, enjoyable, clear and informative. Carrie takes the time with her patients to understand their life, lifestyle and make sure they understand their eye health and the benefits of staying on top of it. She helped me locate the perfect frames out of several choices in her office. She didn't make me feel rushed or pressured. The office environment is clean, new and modern. When I was checking out a neighborhood kid with the cutest glasses "little miss Maggie" came in like a hurricane and requested some info on her new prescription and some wash for her glasses... I thought that the doctor and Maggie were related but turns out that she treats all her clients like family.. I would highly recommend Carrie Lee O.D and her staff for your optometry needs.. read more

I bought a nice pair of prescription sunglasses from Eyedentity Optometric. They had a very good selection of options; they were not cheap, but they were exactly what I wanted. I came in with a prescription from another optometrist. No gripes about the purchase - it was a very good experience. However, I needed an adjustment on the frames today. Called the store to see if they were open and whether I could stop by for the service. The person I spoke to asked me to make an appointment. Really? For a five minute frame adjustment? And the earliest they could see me was a couple of hours from now? Well, she said, we don't want you to wait. After asking if I could just come in, she sniffed "OK," but I did not feel good about the attitude I got on the phone, or the way this business rations out service. I think a high-end store like this would be more than glad to help a customer who has spent a lot of money there for five minutes of service on the item. C'mon, you're a neighborhood business - keep your doors open (they keep them locked), and have a little bit more of a welcoming attitude towards your customers. (Probably ex-customer now.) I ended up walking down the street to my friendly neighborhood optometrist, who gladly made the adjustment to the frames that I had purchased at Eyedentity Vision. read more

a couple of lost stars---i was in the store when a glen parker came in to see if he could have a screw replaced in his glasses. the new front desk fellow said he could do that but it would cost $5.00. ouch. many glass places do this as a service. in a small community where the goal would be to build and sustain local business, doing a local a favor is simply good business practice. i think future business was lost as the result of not offering a hand, and the rep of the business fell as a result. not good. read more
